So basically I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Android rooting and flashing etc. I've managed to successfully root my One X+ using Hasoon2000's awesome toolkit and I used the CWM International, I have SuperSU running fine. Now I've done that I would like to install the Android Revolution HD ROM.
Carrier: O2
CID: 02___001 (That is with 3 underscores)
Software Version: 1.17.206.1
HTC Sense: 4+, Android 4.1.1
HBOOT: 1.35
Kernel: 3.1.10
Baseband: 3.1204.168.32
No idea if all this is relevant but I thought I'd better give it.
Is my phone compatible first of all, and also any advice or links to guides on how to do it or what to do to prepare. I was particularly curious about my CID having 3 underscores when almost all other CID's I could find reference to only has 2 underscores?
Finally I'd quite like to know about anything cool or interesting I can do at this point or while installing the ROM, I'd heard about custom boot-up animations or something like that?
Boot animations are just .zips stored in system/media or system/customize/resource. Make sure the resolution and screen size is the same as the phone. All boot animations in One X and X+ section will work for a fact.
I have no idea about the underscore thing. But if your phone works then I guess all is good. Post in the rom's thread if you are worried.

I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news are; though you say you're a noob, atleast you paid attention to the CID-number
The bad news are; since we're not S-OFF yet, you can't change the CID-number, hence you can't flash the ARHD rom untill O2 comes out with an updated firmware package.

At the moment the CID is irrelevant because it's only needed to flash the firmware package which isn't needed to flash the ROM. So you can flash ARHD just not the firmware package.

Actually i think the point he is making is, 02 are yet to release an official rom containing the latest hboot version. People with lower hboot versions are having issues with custom roms based on the latest software update. So alot of devs have advised that people with the lower hboot versions to update hboot before flashing.

He has 1.17 firmware and 1.35 hboot, is it there any newer? I was running bindroid beta prior release on 1.14, 1.16, 1.17 without any glitch or problem, so I dont see any problem to flash arhd or any custom rom

If you're s-on I know you can't flash custom firmware, splash screens or kernels within roms. My question - is the only way to upgrade firmware for new versions to use an ruu?

Hi All,
Apologies if the has been asked already but I was unable to find an answer to my question.
I have an O2 HTC One X Plus (CID 02__001) which WAS on Hboot 1.30 but is now on hboot 1.35 since the OTA update 1.17.206.1 came out in the UK not very long ago
I know there was an issue being able to use a custom ROM with the older hboot. Will I now be able to flash a custom ROM to my phone (I am eyeing up Android Revolution HD 6.2)??
Or is it too soon ?
You now have the latest hboot. So you can flash any international custom rom you want

Fantastic. l assume I don't need to do the firmware thing the instructions mention just the boot image and Rom itself?

thanks for your help. Much appreciated! Things were so much easier on my HTC Desire S lol
I have a new HTC One X+ for about two weeks now and I´m planning to install the Android Revolution HD ROM, but I have some questions.
Using the HTC One X+ All-In-One Toolkit, I think I´m not going to have problems unlocking and rooting it.
But I have questions about flashing the ROM.
In the Android Revolution HD thread, one of the requirements is a firmware package which is available for download. But then in the instructions there isn´t any reference to it, so I don´t know if I have to download it and neither how to use it.
I have HBoot 1.30.0000, CID is HTC__622 and firmware version 11.14.708.16.
You should post on the thread you would get help quicker than on here.

I can´t, because I don´t have enough posts.
Question about firmware is quite clear, you can't use it, it is for x.xx.401.x aka wwe English, compare your cid with posted there, you are able to flash arhd Rom on your hox+

I know I can´t update the firmware due to my CID.
The problem is I read two people in the ARHD thread saying you can install the ROM with hboot 1.30 and one saying you can´t. But all the answers were before the 6.3 version was released, so I don´t know if I can install it.
you can. test it.

Thank you very much. It worked.
Some advice for the people doing it for the first time like me...
I followed the following thread for unlocking: [HOW TO] Unlock bootloader, Root, Flash Custom ROM, Flash Kernel
I did every step from the Post 1. When you use the toolkit, remember to close the command window or nothing will happen if you click on the next item.
I used CWM TOUCH v6.0.2.7 for recovery.
Then, instead of following the instructions on the Post 2, I followed the instructions in the ARHD thread. In the boot imagine folder there is a Readme file. Follow those instructions to install the ROM. You can use the toolkit to do some of the steps.
And in case your phone gets stuck in the boot animation after installing the ROM, press Power + Volume Up to reboot and you will be fine.
I am new to HTC as a whole. And I'm sorry if I'm missing something here. I've been spending my time reading the past couple of days trying to learn about this all.
It is mentioned but I never found a good explanation of CID and how it is relevant to anything that I have control over?
I'm currently running Trickdroid and I don't understand all of this 1.29 talk. From what I'm gathering from reading you can flash the Rom but it will not update things like the radio? Ok, How do I check my firmware/radio? version I am currently running?
Specifically am I reading beginning of dev posts and don't need to worry about this anymore because you wonderful devs have found a way to incorporate all this in just flashing a Rom?
Feeling a little overwhelmed coming from a Samsung device to all of this. So far so good, but confused and any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you in advance.

Radio aka baseband is almost never included in a ROM.
CID is carrier ID and every phone HTC makes has one. CID is what prevents you from installing say a UK carrier's official RUU on your At&T device.
HTC also utilizes something called SuperCID which is a carrier ID of 111111111 which allows you to install any firmware on your device. The only way at this time to get superCID is to gain S-off which is a security measure that restricts which parts of the phone software you can change.
With the HTC One, HTC changed what you have access to with an unlocked bootloader, previously, even with an unlocked bootloader you couldn't flash a kernel or a radio via recovery, now you can flash insecure kernels and HTC signed (approved) radios.
For flashing purposes, you can ignore the firmware requirements and flash the ROMs in the international section without issues.

Ok. Thank you for that explanation. How do I check what radio/baseband I am currently using? RUU, though it can still not be changed because we have no s_off, what is it? I
Also how do I find out what CID I am?
Thank you again..

Ok would this be considered up to date? Why would I need to lock the bootloader again in order to update the firmware if I can just flash a Rom and it updates it for me?

you are up to date, and there's no need to relock the bootloader and revert to stock for an update UNLESS HTC releases a new HBOOT (the bootloader) and the developers here will let you know if and when that's necessry

One last question as it seems you would know. Is there a thread on the s-off process and how that is coming? Or is that just background dev?
I'm sure it's being worked on by someone.
I am pretty much lost when it comes to the firmware of the htc one. First i'll explain what I think I have grasped and what I have done. I am running ARHD 11.0 (thinking about 11.5, but cant decide if i want to wait for the next w/o the LTE bug). Running CWM 6.0.3.2. Last night installed a new radio .zip (baseband?). NO S-OFF and hboot 1.44 (i think).
Now the firmware gets a little fuzzy for me. Im getting the vibe that it is not mandatory, but could potentially be beneficial. How do i check my firmware? Is it include with custom rom updates? Should I upgrade it? And do i need to upgrade hboot or be S-OFF to do any of this.
Thank you in advance and especially to all the great developers out there.
I'd say to start off go check out mike1986's post in the international section and read around and if you have more questions then come back here
