Could someone please post a zip file of the stock boot animation. Would really appreciate it. Cheers

Here. This recovery flashable zip can be used for multi purpose. In this instance It's packaged with the Droid DNA boot animations including the HTC bootdown. If you want to remove the HTC bootdown then you can simply "open" the zip I have provided (open not extract) by using 7zip which is free to download while you're inside the zip, navigate to system/customize/resource and you will see both animations in there. Delete downanimation.zip if all you want is the Droid bootanimation.
From here if you do get bored of the Droid animation then you could put any other compatible bootanimation.zip and it will change it as long as you don't change the spelling. It has to be bootanimation.zip you can also add any apk file (apps) you have by navigating to system/app placing the apk file in this loacation. Saves a lot of time if you don't want to stuff around with a root explorer. Close the zip after you're done and there you have it.

Nevermind, I got it from a system dump. Here you go OP drop these in the SYSTEM->CUSTOMIZE->RESOURCE folder and change permissions
You will have to rename the txt to mp3 before you move it on the device

I think it's going to depend on which ROM you're running as to what sound file is needed. For Viper ROM it is the system/customize/resource/htc_boot.mp3. I would suggest looking at the Permissions of the mp3 file. start out setting them to rw- r-- r--.
Let me know if this works out for you. I've thought about doing some boot ani's with sound, but haven't had time to try yet.

Actually it looks like it may have more to do with the naming of the folders within the boot animation. I'm downloading Virtuous ROM now to take a look at how their boot animation is setup.
If you have an XML Editor you can look in /system/customize/CID/default.xml. about 3/4 of the way through the file there is a section that lists which files are used for boot up and boot down.
For instance here is what it says in the default.xml from the stock rooted dna rom:
-<BootConfiguration><BootAnimation audiostart="vzw" audio="/system/customize/resource/Droid_DLX_Eye_Animation_Sound_Design_9.21.12.mp3" animation="/system/customize/resource/vzw_bootup.zip"/></BootConfiguration>-<ShutdownConfiguration><ShutdownAnimation fps="10" image="" image_png="/system/customize/resource/hTC_downanimation.zip"/></ShutdownConfiguration>
Notice the audiostart="vzw". If you look in the desc.txt file within the stock boot animation file it looks like this:
1080 1920 30
p 1 15 android
p 1 30 vzw
Here is a quick description of each row in the desc.txt file:
1080 1920 30 >> 1080x1920 Resolution, 30 Frames p/Sec as Default
p 1 15 android >> 1st part uses the images in the android folder and repeats them 1 time, then pauses for 15 seconds
p 1 30 vzw >> 2nd part uses the images in the vzw folder and repeats them 1 time, then pauses for 30 seconds. The folder vzw also triggers the boot animation sound as noted in the default.xml snippet above.
I hope this helps.
---------- Post added at 11:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 AM ----------
In Viper ROM it lists the audio file, but there is no audiostart tag, so I wonder if it just starts playing audio when the boot animation begins
Here is the default.xml snippet from Viper ROM:
-<BootConfiguration><BootAnimation audio="/system/customize/resource/htc_boot.mp3" animation="/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip"/></BootConfiguration>-<ShutdownConfiguration><ShutdownAnimation fps="10" image="" image_png="/system/customize/resource/downanimation.zip"/></ShutdownConfiguration>

Do you have the link to the bootanimation.zip for this. Splash is the static screen before the animation
Edit: nevermind I found it. Yes it runs on our phones, however the image is kinda small (uses about 1/3 of the screen right in the middle) and would need to be resized to look right.

I'm not aware of any way using the desc.txt so you'll probably just have to rotate the images.
Yup. Have to rotate images.

Without downloading your files, (I am at work and don't have the time right now), I would say you probably did not zip the files correctly.
1. Download and install 7-Zip.
2. Highlight your boot animation files, (CTRL or SHIFT and left click).
3. Right click on selected files.
4. Select 7-Zip > Add to archive.
5. Set Archive Format to Zip and Compression Level to Store.
6. Name your zip file accordingly (e.g. bootanimation).
7. Click OK.
Your bootanimation.zip should now be zipped correctly.

Yeah, I found that even at 32bits, the animation works, it was the last return after the last line in desx.txt file that was killing my animation.. haha.. but, I try to save in .jpg as it takes up less space and I couldn't tell the difference between the .png and .jpg boot animations...

Simple enough:
1:: download the .zip
2:: rename it (using ES File Explorer or Astro or any ROOT EXPLORER that will allow you to MOUNT SYSTEM AS WRITABLE) by simply cutting out the description so that it is just bootanimation.zip
3:: copy or cut the bootanimation.zip and paste it in the system/media folder or data/local
4:: you will be warned that the merge will overwrite the existing file and that the world will end (not really, just accept the merge)

I have already tried putting both MP3 and OGG files in system/media/audio, and edited my desc.text file in my boot animation zip to have: s "file.ogg " this hadn't worked for me. Amy help would be appreciated. I'm running black star 7 if that helps our make a difference. Thanks

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting here so hello to everyone!
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 after having iPhones for years and I haven't stopped using it since. I was looking into boot animations and I saw all the BIOS boot animations but realized that no one had created one for the Galaxy S5 yet. Because of that I made one myself specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S5 meaning that all the files are in the QMG format and not the typical bootanimation.zip style. Attached to this post are two zip archives containing the animation file. Both attachments are the same animation but one runs at 18FPS while the other runs at 22FPS. This way in-case your phone boots slower or faster than mine there will be time to completely finish the animation.
I also have it rendered at all different framerates from 5 to 60 so if you need it somewhere else let me know.
Let me know what you think as I plan on making a more unique animation in the future!
How to Install (Device Must be Rooted):
1.Download bootsamsung.qmg file to device
2. Go to system/media
3. Rename the existing bootsamsung.qmg to bootsamsungOld.qmg or something else (do not delete)
4. Rename bootsamsungloop.qmg to bootsamsungloopOld.qmg or something else (carrier animation, can delete if do not want)
5. Place the bootsamsung.qmg file you downloaded into here
6. Change the permissions of the bootsamsung.qmg file to: Owner: read, write Group: read Others: read
7. Reboot your phone and see if it works!
Since I am a new user I can't put images or a video preview here due to them being external links.
Below in attachments along with the animation files there will also be another zip archive containing a GIF preview and two pictures.
***EDIT***
Also in the attached files you will find bootanimation.zip which is the animation files for phones that dont use the Samsung .QMG file format. Note that it is still at 1080x1920 in terms of resolution and will play at 18FPS until you modify the desc.txt
Thanks, PDrizzly
Can I have one in ".zip" format please? The GS5 ROM I am using (MOAR ROM on Sprint GS5) has custom bootanimation support and uses .zip files for bootanimation!

Thanks man looks pretty good but would be improved with more colour and some kind of animation other than text. Good stuff though, much better than carrier boot.

how to?
hi i would appreciate how you done it? tutorial on how to make bootanimation for s5 ..
cheers,
Geef
I am having trouble getting this to work on AllianceRom. The animation stops at the 12th picture and it just freezes there until the boot cycle completes. After applying the boot animation I can look into the zip archive and every png file from number 13 on is 0kb in size.
Just for some more information I have tried applying the boot animation by flashing via Rom Manager, using Rom Toolbox (Boot Animations), and by manually placing the bootanimation.zip in the system\media directory. When I manually place the zip file in (and adjust permissions), the boot screen is just black. Nothing shows up. Every other boot animation I have tried seems to work just fine. This is the only one giving me trouble.
Any advice?
Thank you.

Did not work for me
I am on Alliance t-mobile build 3 - i renamed my current bootsamsung.qmg to bootsamsung.qmg(stock) then i copied the bootsamsung.qmg from the 18fps into system/media. Changed the permissions and I still only get the stock alliance boot animation.

That worked perfectly. Didn't realize that Alliance had a bootanimation.zip file there. Never thought to look lol
Didn't work
I have been trying to tweak some things, but nothing changes! I decided to try simply renaming the bootsamsungloop.qmg with ES file explorer to see if this would work. Sure enough, Verizon still pops up on boot. I had safestrap installed, but wasn't using it, so I uninstalled that, and still nothing. It seems very odd. Any ideas?
