I had a Sony stereo fitted and had my HTC Desire paired over Bluetooth for calls and music streaming. In fact any audio stream worked around the truck - great for festivals!
Now I have my HOX+ (and my girlfriends HOX) we cannot pair our phones with the stereo. I noticed, when I pair my phone with other devices, the process for pairing is somewhat different to that of the HTC Desire. Example, when I pair up, the HOX says "enter this code on the other device". Usually, we pick a code.
In any case, neither phone can see the Sony car stereo when we scan.. We just get "no devices found".
Hoping someone has some advice for me, because I'm missing my music. Using an audio cable is clunky
Thanks,
I have a Sony car stereo fitted and my X+ connects. On mine I have to switch off the blue tooth on the stereo and turn it back on but hold the BT button in for 5 seconds for it to start searching for devices, at same time instruct phone to also search and they should find each other. Hope this is of some help.
Hi, I did this but couldn't get it working. I used to update the ROM on my Desire quite often so I usually needed to re-sync the phone and head unit.
I'll try this again but it wasnt working when we did it the other week..
What head unit do you have? I wonder if mine needs a software update... it's about 2 years old now.
Thanks for your reply
Mine is a Sony MEX-BT5700U which I purchased in 2009, also worked on my Desire hd, One X as well as my One X+. Can't think of anything more to add that might be of help, pairs up as soon as engine starts.
Thanks for the tip. I'm out in it tonight so will try again.
HTC bluetooth drivers?
Could this be because of the HTC bluetooth drivers? I realize I'm just guessing, but everything bluetooth became alot easer when I changed to CM 10.1 on my HOX+

Could it be a visibility issue?
You have to make the BT visible/discover-able before anything else. For the Sony to pick it up. I think the minimum is like 60 or 100 seconds
Once you do that, make the RADIO pair with the HOX+ rather than the HOX+ with the radio. This way the Radio will tell you the pin code to enter (it's usually 1234 anyway), which you then enter on your HOX+, instead of the HOX+ telling you what to enter into the radio for code (as you would previously do, i guess, though i don't see how).
Once connected, don't forget to then see the "sony radio bt" properties, to enable "always allow" feature, so it won't ask you for permission every time your radio tries to access your phone's playlist, call list, or to act as a headset for incoming calls (if you have a microphone built into the car)
Okay, so last night I went to the car and held the Bluetooth button in for what seemed like forever. I noticed the LED on the stereo display begin to pulsate. I kept searching with the phone and eventually the phone found the stereo and it's now paired up.
I happily listened to Macklemore to the destination.
Thanks all for the help in this post

I have been using a standard aux(3pole) cable with my Droid, Droid 2 and HTC Incredible, to connect it to my car speakers and listen to music. The nice part is all those phones did not turn off the mic on the phone. The thunderbolt turns off the mic so when I get a call I hear the person on the other line through my car speakers but he doesn't hear me(mic turns off). Any one know if it is possible to enable the phone mic to stay on? I am open to mods or roms, i just really need this to work.
Kinda frustrating because it works with my other phones.
This is very frustrating. As far as I know, there is no way around this yet. We'll have to wait for either an HTC software update or something Like CM7 to fix it. I wouldn't get my hopes up for HTC to fix it, since they are saying that the phone was designed to act like this. I think our best bet is to email HTC with the issue. They can't ignore ti if they are getting thousands of complaints about it... can they?
i hope cm7 will take car of it. I have cm6 running on the incredible and it works just fine.
Its a safety issue in my mind, it lets me drive hands free with just an aux cable. Instead of fiddling with it to make it work. This is the only thing that i dont like about the Thunderbolt.
this is extremely frustrating. I used to use that all the time on my OG droid and on my atrix.
totally lame! I hate to say it but I'm starting to miss my incredible.
here is a solution http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...49206&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2617wt_1141
I got 2 of these, 1 for each car and it works perfectly. Hope this helps.
Remember seeing a code snippet either on irc or twitter yesterday that looked like HTC hard coded the headset value into the software so it thinks anything plugged in has a mic.
When this happens I just hit the speaker button on the phone and the mic comes back on, not the best solution but at least something for now.
Just got off of the phone with an HTC Support Rep. He did some digging and discovered that this model has issues with headsets that have volume controls on them (e.g. iPhone headset). He had no idea for a fix, no other information available. I asked him to open a support ticket in my name, however. <== Anxiously awaiting to see if CM7 resolves this issue too.
Any news
has anyone heard anything more about this it is really annoying
I just can add that ZTE Blade (San Francisco), behaves the same way.
Right now on CM7.1 (2.3.7)
I'm already thinking about using an auxiliary cable with mic to connect the phone to my car as pointed out by vitsdroid.
I use the inline mic for my car setup so that I can answer a call which I am listening to music.
If its an important call then I switch to a wired heardset/mic which is alot quieter for the person on the other end of the call.
Found this in another thread...

Works like a champ. I have a really good set of headphones I listen to music and audiobooks on. They're very durable and sound pretty good. First set I've had that lasted me more than 4-6 weeks. No inline microphone. Now I can just use the on-board mic.

I enjoy listening to my podcast's all day long. However, my bluetooth disconnects without warning nor is it predictable. The bluetooth indicator is lit blue as if is connected. Also, in settings, there is no sign of it being disconnected. The only way to get my bluetooth to reconnect is to toggle my bluetooth off and then on again.
I tried to replicate the issue at the Best Buy where i bought the phone, but had no luck getting this to happen. Best Buy replaced the phone only to find out that i still have the same issue.
I typically use Dogcatcher for podcasts. Uninstalled it and started using Stitcher. Unfortunately still getting this issue. Even went as far as buying a different brand of stereo bluetooth headset.
Any one have any ideas?
Sorry, no idea. Try posting in the Motorola Owner's Forum and see if the Moto techs can shed some light on it.
Just for reference....I use a Blueant Q1 headset and Motorola S10HD headphones and no issues with disconnects, at least with music or audiobooks.
I was actually going to post something about this but haven't got around to it. Mine disconnects all the time, I have to shut off/on and then it will reconnect. It sucks. Also, when I put my phone in my pocket when I'm on my phone I get some very crappy sounds through my BT. I mean, its like 3 ft away max, through cloth, why would that matter? Is the BT radio on this phone really that bad? Anyone else having similar issues?
I remember this happening with my first phone but I thought it was my earpiece. I have upgraded my earpiece, still doing the same thing and has gotten worse lately. But the other thing is that I can walk pretty far away 30-40 feet before she disconnects, in my house around walls and such, so I don't get it.
-DJ
I'm having the same bluetooth sound issues as you DJ, except I don't hafta have the phone in my pocket. If I put the phone to my other ear I can hear the caller thru the headset & it stutters in the bluetooth.

I'll give Moto techs a try. Otherwise, its too difficult to replicate the problem at the Sprint Store. All they do is wipe the phone and hand it back to me which is not acceptable. Especially when i explain to them that i have tried this with no improvement.
Thanks guys for your input.
This used to happen with my EVO as well so I wasn't shocked when it happens with the photon from time to time. What happens is that the media connection gets lost while the headset is still connected to the phone audio. I use a Jawbone ICON and ERA and it happens with both. I listen through my headsets all day every day so I'm pretty used to it. Usually if I un-pair and re-pair the headset it solves it for a while. Just make sure the headset says its connected to both phone and media audio.Hopefully it will be corrected through an update soon. I'm sure they have a long list of stuff to repair...
I have the same BT audio disconnects as others while I was listening to stream music, very frustrasting, I had the phone swapped due to other issue, but this still happened very randomly. Infact, as the other poster said above, BT audio disconnects also happened to my previous HTC phones(Diamond, EVO 4G & EVO 3D)as well.
im having same issue with blue parrot headset
glad to know I aint the only one with this problem, hopefully a fix is in the works
I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and my Photon practically refuses to play my visual voicemails through it. When I attempt to play a voicemail, the scrub bar runs through it in like 1 second even though the voicemail may be 2 minutes long and no sound is heard through the BT. If I then disconnect and reconnect the BT, the message(s) will play properly for a short time. So most times, I either disconnect BT to play my messages through the speakerphone or earpiece or I dial into my voicemail with my BT. Overall, it is a frustrating situation. However, I guess things could be worse.
I have a similar issue with Bluetooth for HID devices (mouse / keyboard). I have the webtop hdmi hack in place. I haven't tested this with the latest ota yet.

Disconnect from car handsfree
Looks like I have same issue,if I am in my car and talking over car bluetooth build-in system it will disconnect after some time, need to toggle bluetooth button on phone screen to send it back. I never had this problem with Epic4g before. I am in battery safe mode is it possible that after awile phone think that it can shutdown bluetooth. I am rooted but using battery mode without ant 3rd party app. Also can someone post link to related Motorola tech forum described above gor Photon 4G?

After doing some searching, I found this thread.. I'm having the same issue with a photon I picked up acouple of weeks ago. I'm running stock root. Is there a fix for this, or is a custom rom a way to fix it?
Thanks
Hi, I am also having same problem, bluetooth disconnects automatically so no file transfer and also when i use wired headfone to listen songs and when i put fone in my pants pockets, it stops the music and give me blutooth option for voice commands

This seems to be a known problem, but after a day of research, I still don't see a solution, or really understand if this will eventually be fixed by (1) a developer update by someone here much smarter than me, (2) a Samsung update, or (3) will never be fixed.
Issue is:
When the SGS3 headphone is engaged (ie: a stereo phone cable from my SGS3 to my car AUX input), you cannot hear and calls in or out from the built in auto bluetooth (mine is an Audi A3). I've tested many alternatives seen on these forums including, TTY settings, call settings, grinding down the stub of the cable so it doesn't fully engage the headphone, etc.
All to no avail, as when the headphone is engaged (a notification of this pops up on the screen), the default sounds ALL go to the headphone source. Of course, the car mutes the audio mode when the bluetooth is enabled, so the sound is lost! What needs to happen is that the phone needs to allow the phone sounds to flow through the bluetooth. Why this doesn't happen by default confuses me. Never had a problem with my HTC Inc2.
Can a solution to this be developed by some of you talented guys out there working on fixes and mods?

Maybe if you go into the control panel of your car's built in computer and check the audio and Bluetooth settings it has, that might fix things.

So you have bluetooth for phone only and younlisten to your music with aux in? I would say if you had an aux in cable with the mic on it like the headphones, then the phone audio would go out over to the radio... But do they make those or how hard would it be to hack your free headphones you got into a double male aux cable
There are no options anywhere in the car settings.
Car mutes phone audio.

The sound does go through the phone audio already. But like almost all cars, when the car sees a bluetooth call in or out, it MUTES the audio coming in from the radio, the CD, or any AUX input. The phone should send call audio through bluetooth, but it does not.
Is it not possible to either play the music through the bluetooth or to turn off bluetooth all together. The phone mic would pick up wouldn't it
This is only possible if you have a newer car stereo with A2DP.

So is this just a Samsung problem for me, or for all?
So I am correct that nobody with a bluetooth car phone setup (but no bluetooth streaming) is able to plug their headphones into their aux jacks and still make/receive calls?
Or is this related just to the SGS3? Or just to my Audi bluetooth options?
Would an eventual solution come from a xda brainiac update, from Samsung, or somewhere else?
Do some of you have built in car setups (no bluetooth streaming) that DO WORK with the headphones plugged in?
I can attempt to pair to my brothers car today or tomorrow if that will make you feel better. My bluetooth setup is aftermarket and streams both
I am also curious as to what happens if you don't have bluetooth enabled at all
What about car audio only. Wouldn't it automatically mute your music and then throw the call over bt or is the aux out overpowering the bluetooth signal. Let me look for a way to possibly disable the process that starts when you plug in headphones. Don't count on anything though

I was doing a little brainstorming here and even though I am quite a novice with tasker, you may be able to make a task that pauses music and transfers call to bluetooth when both bluetooth and headphones are connected. I am not sure if it is an input device problem or if the phone is just dumb or what, but it may be worth a shot

Your setup is not like mine, and should probably work, as you don't have to plug in the headphone jack. Yes, the problem is that IF the headphone jack is plugged in, ALL sound output goes through that and the bluetooth is disabled (even the symbol on the phone screen is grayed out.
With your bluetooth plugged in, just try putting the earbuds in the phone, then make a call to anyone, then see if your bluetooth icon on the phone call is not grayed out. Now unplug the ear buds and see if the icon doesn't come back on. This is the problem I have.
Never had any problems with either stereo worked fine in my altima and benz. I used aux + bluetooth no problem on my epic4g for the past 2 years and when I first got my s3 it was working until I did an update. Then it broke it.
Sick of having to unplug the aux cable everytime I get a call to allow it to switch to bluetooth
Need some people to test this, please...
I'd like to see if the problem is with the rooted phone image or if this problem also exists on stock, unrooted phones.
If you can:
1) pair your phone to your factory car bluetooth, or even a bluetooth headset that does not stream audio.
2) have any pair of headsets or an aux cable ready to plug in.
3) make a call using the bluetooth to anyone (ideally something that has an automatic answer phone cue like this 919-238-2000)
4) while the call is proceeding with the car bluetooth or bluetooth headset, plug in the headphones, or any cable into the headphone jack.
5) WHAT HAPPENS???
Is it (a) you still hear the phone call through the bluetooth, or
(b) you don't hear the call any more and the bluetooth headset icon on the phone pad goes out?
6) Please state what phone you have, what provider you have, and whether the phone is stock or rooted.
THANKS.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't rooted the first time I tried it. In any case, I wrote to Samsung support on Facebook, and got this reply:
"Hi Chris, thanks for reaching out! You are correct, you cannot use both Bluetooth and Aux at the same time. A few of our customers found a work around by using an A2DP profile with hands free in the car. I apologize for the inconvenience."
So we know they are getting reports or they wouldn't push AD2P as a solution. I think if enough people write in, they will fix this in an update. We really need a critical mass of people to complain to Verizon and Samsung for this to happen. He did say when I replied asking about a fix, that he had passed my concerns on, etc., etc.

I have an issue when it's plugged in via Auxiliary there's a nasty echo the caller hears on the other end because of this headphone mode. Anyway to turn it off?
I will probably return it for this reason amongst others.
Belkin Y37 from Amazon will solve this issue, or provide an alternative.
I can fully confirm the functionality of the Belkin F8Z492TTP. It is now custom installed in my A3 with a direct power hookup and direct connection to the aux input. For power, I had to hook up a 12 volt car outlet behind the dash, insert a 12v to usb adapter, and splice the power cord from the factory transformer to a USB cable. Power is with a micro type H plug that Radio Shack does not have. They should give you a usb to type H cable with it.
Anyway, the Galaxy S3 will connect to two bluetooth devices at the same time...the Audi bluetooth and the Belkin Y37 Bluetooth. I put a shortcut button for bluetooth on my home screen which pulls up the options. You DO HAVE TO RECONNECT BLUETOOTH each time you get in the car, but you had to manually plug in the cable the other way.
When a call is made, the car bluetooth takes over with full steering wheel controls, and when it ends, the audio goes back on (I think automatically). Since I have constant power to the Belkin through the 12v, if you step away and then come back, you can automatically regain your connection, which is nice.
I did the modification to the Belkin where I broke it carefully open and pulled the metal innards that are purely designed to give it a feeling of mass. All that is inside is a teeny circuit board that must have cost $1 tops! Belkin lists this at $50, although it is half that on Amazon.
All in all, a decent solution to a frustrating problem. Sound is pretty decent.
Does anyone know how to get their Bluetooth headphones to work nicely with their EVO 3D? I've tried every fix going to no luck.
The obvious problem to me, having two pairs of (not cheap) headphones, is that the problem appears to be directly connected to the power output being crippled for Bluetooth to save power - HTC probably thinking that Bluetooth users are a small minority of people, and that everyone uses the 3.5mm headphone jack - mine is broken and out of warranty! I even resorted to a phone holder attached to my backpack to get the phone as near to the Bluetooth headphones as possible, it worked until it kept screwing up the digitiser in the phone.
So, is there any way to boost the Bluetooth power, increase error correction or prevent consistent periods of silence, particularly when turning my head, or is it new (non-HTC) phone time that I can't afford?
Thanks in advance
I really like this phone but can't figure out why LG Phones have so many problems with their Bluetooth Connectivity....
I have a New 2016 Honda which my V10 when I set it up works fine then.... if I leave the car with my phone and then return, the media audio portion of the bluetooth just goes into a endless loop of disconnecting... Phone calls are fine. But media audio only works the first time you go through the whole pairing process then won't work again until you do the whole process over again... When I had the LG G4, it did the exact same thing with my 2012 Hyundai until LG patched it....
Anyone else having issues with the media audio connection with their bluetooth? I've tried all the tricks like toggling stuff on / off, clearing caches, etc. Just hoping to see that it is not a random case of a bad phone but rather a "known" issues
Thanks! :good:

I've got a 2013 Civic SI, works great. Must be a different Hondalink platform in the newer models.
This has been my big complaint so far. Every other phone I have automatically connects to my bt receiver when I get in the car, but I have to physically connect with the V10.
So i made a thread about this a couple days ago then no one replied and of course 3 new threads on it popped up.... anyways im having the same issue with verizon. I just purchased the NEX 4100 and phone calls are fine but audio doesnt work nor does android auto which a HUGE issue for me.... Im thinking about returning it because of this. I called lg today and they of course brushed it off onto pioneer which i will call tomorrow. What do you guys think should i get a different phone? I was also thinking of returning it next week and still getting the promo stuff then buying it again on black friday for a better deal? Are these issues normally patched quickly or should i not bother holding onto a phone that doesnt work with my new $1500 sound system that i intentionally got for android auto....

I have a 2015 Accord EX-L. Have not had this problem. Not yet anyway.
However as I mentioned in another thread, the V10 does not continuously update the signal strength meter on the car dashboard. Only when the V10's screen is lit. After it goes out, you can drive through deadspots and think you have 5 bars of signal. Until you press the power button which then updates the display in the car. Since I had the HTC One M9 up until this past Friday, I can tell you that it definitely kept the signal strength meter in the car up to date continuously.
Have a 2015 Chevy SS.. Had a situation where there was no bluetooth audio with the mylink system in the car. Happened once.. Has worked reliably ever since.
Luckily for me on my Subaru system the phone has always connected properly at startup. But the audio regularly skips when playing... not jut on my car, but on my bluetooth headphones I have as well, same thing with skipping issues. On occasion my car's audio will get completely disconnected while I'm driving as well, very annoying.
Used my car's audio and bluetooth headphones with my S6 and had zero issues with them. Must be V10 issues. Hopefully a 6.0 update fixes the problems, otherwise I'm trading in again.
I'm having similar issues, 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid, streaming Spotify via Bluetooth incoming calls don't stop the Spotify music automatically and the person on the other end cannot be heard. I'm coming from the Note 4 and it never had this issue. Any recommendations?
I've got a 2015 VW Jetta TDI manual and this is the first phone I've had that works properly. I've got the LG Tone Pro headphones too, and when I shut the car off it goes to headphones almost immediately. Vice versa too, and this is the only phone I've had that video syncs with audio or is maybe 1ms off.
My thinking is it must be different bt link platforms in the car, but we should all be on BT 4.0 by now. Sorry that it's not working properly for you guys. Keep complaining until they fix it. Customer satisfaction is their goal.
My 2013 Chevy cruze works perfect. Not any issues what so ever

I was thinking of picking up a v10 but this thread makes me hesitate for now. I have a 2014 Honda CRV, and Bluetooth music in the car is very important to me. I hope this gets fixed for us all

I'm having problems connecting to my 2015 GMC Sierra (GMC Intellilink). I can connect, connect automatically, make and receive phone calls, but the bluetooth audio for music DOES NOT WORK. Most of the time, when I try to play a song via google play music or Deezer, the head unit in my truck immediately goes BLACK for about 10 seconds, I hear a whirrr of an internal fan, and it starts back up disconnected from the phone. The phone is causing the head unit to fail & restart. Sometimes it doesn't restart. It'll show the progress bar of the music, as well as on my phone. I can pause, play, next song, etc. but NO AUDIO comes out. It's just dead silent.
I actually have my truck in the shop right this second to see if they can upgrade the software in the head unit, or figure it out. I'm sure they're going to tell me I'm S.O.L. I really don't want to have to return this phone. It's perfect, aside from that 1 issue, but I didn't buy a brand new vehicle to be plugging my phone into a headphone jack like a knuckledragger
It turns out the Bluetooth seems to work fine in my 2014 Honda with Hands Free Link. It takes maybe 10-15 seconds longer than my previous phones to auto- connect when I start the car, but it does it. Music sounds on par.

Thanks! :good:

Same issue with my V10 in a 2013 FR-S. Between the Bluetooth and Fingerprint scanner issues I'm returning this Flag****...I mean Flagship phone.
There seems to be an issue with auto A2DP bluetooth connectivity even if Bluetooth is connected.
After I connect with bluetooth: Oftentimes, I will have to choose the "Chromecast share" app logo on apps and explicitly choose to "connect to a2dp device" - for 8tracks and youtube for example. For apps that don't have that "share" button, I will have to play out of phone speakers first, than go in to the bluetooth details section while connected via bluetooth already, select configure for the bluetooth connected device....than uncheck and check the "Media Audio" box.;The media will than usually switch to play through bluetooth device.
Clunky workaround. I've had to do this with nexus devices too and it seems to be an issue with android OS a2dp audio routing. I believe the blame is with Android versus LG. If a2dp worked on Samsung, it's bc Samsung patched the hole in android.
Have a VW Passat 2013.Was now problem with Bluetooth connection until yesterday. Have a V10 for a week, but yesterday it was looping in connection and unable to connect back did everything what you guys did ,no luck .Very disappointing
I have this issue and it's on every bluetooth device I connect to. I literally had to put the phone less than 2 feet from my head to listen to music... Hope a fix comes out soon
