Guys.. I am facing a small Problem.. When I connect my Phone to my laptop, the PCC recognizes my phone.. But when I try to open the file manager option (In the PCC), nothing happens.. nothing at all.. the PCC remains idle as if nothing happened.. When I connect it in MSC, It allows me to access the Memory card.. But When I put it in MTP mode and connect it (using PCC) i face this problem..
Few details..
* Tried restarting the phone (And laptop too.. Desperate times ! )
* Uninstalled and installed the PCC
* My PCC is the latest version
* This problem has started since I updated from GB to ICS
( My phone's current version is 6.1.1.B.1.54 )
Help me out guys !
Thanks in advance!
(BTW, I sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section ! )

Did you turn on usb debugging?
Sent from my X10i using xda premium
yes sir i was able to turn on usb debugging evey single intruction on this link i was able to follow perfectly i ended up trying it 3 times now from re-rooting still no, luck :<
any one has an idea how to go around this?
I presume when you restarted the pc, your virus scanner was still off as well as the firewall? Make sure you totally disconnect from the internet when you switch those off. Check wireless as well as wired connections.
I would check in the system device manager of your pc and see if u have any unknown usb devices ahowing when your phone is connected. If so direct it to the usb drivers that comes with flash tool and see if that helps.
It worked for me

i have the same problem with my archos 80g9.
when i asked in here i was told that it was most likely a damaged cable.
not sure though as i dont have another cable to test this theory

Im in some serious **** here. I was on CM10 136 and everything was working fine. Today,i decided to update to whatever FXP released. When I tried connecting to the PC,my phone would just charge, not connect,as in,no pop up to ask if I wanted to connect my phone in Mass Storage. This is extremely weird because everything was working just fine and i've flashed like,a LOT of times, different ROMs and different kernels. And YES i know how to put my phone into flash mode and the drivers are all up to date. What is weird is that when I press the back button and insert the phone into the USB hub,the green light flashes just for a mini second and then the phone starts. Same thing happens if i connect in fastboot mode. Ive tried with multiple USB ports. Guys,Im worried sick here. if i take the phone to the service center here in India, they won't understand **** about fastboot/flash mode. Also,Ive already voided my warranty by unlocking the bootloader the official way. Please, please help me.
PS-Ive tried searching for this and a couple of posts have come up with this same problem in other devices such as the X8. Ive also tried disconnecting all other USB devices and still, nothing works.
change other cable?
or maybe your problem :

My wire is fine,I think, because, its the original thing that came with the phone and other phones with micro USB connect to the PC properly. Also,as ive already stated,Ive tried multiple USB ports both on the front and on the back of the PC. The ports areOK because i just bought the motherboard. Thanks for the reply.
Were you able to go to cwm mode.if yes the do a factory reset and all cache before that remove sd card and move Rom files using card reader. Jus a try .

I wiped my phone completely,it doesn't help. Could you further elaborate moving ROM files? Like, shifting system files onto another storage or something? Is that possible?
I meant to flash some other Rom . Did you try removing battery and then put battery and try flash mode.

Uh yeah,i did remove the battery and reboot the phone and try again. Also,I don't know if it'll help flashing a new ROM with the same kernel. I shall try downloading AOKP or something. The ROM should work since both are JB based kernels. Ill report back.
If it only charges and doesn't connect to pc even in mass storage mode then surely its problem in pc. Have you tried on diff pc?

Okay so I updated to FXP 138 and it now does go into USB mass storage, but the main problem still exists. it still doesn't go into Fastboot or Flashmode. I don't have a second PC so give me some time to confirm this.
Just try another cable.

SOLVED.
Pheew. I uninstalled the drivers on my PC and then wiped the Dalvik cache via the recovery. Connected it to the PC and bham,SEMC Flash drivers are installed. But if i stayed on flash mode longer than 10 seconds the phone automatically reboots and shows the FreeXperia logo. Something is definitely up with the kernel guys. :\
Flashing back to stock ICS for now. Thank you all for replying, helped me a lot.
Anytime bhai..

The MTP is not working on my phone. It says connected on shoe in status bar, but its not showing in computer. Also pc companion is not detecting my phone even Thu is stock and almost all apps are stock. What is causing the problem?
I really like this one because is stock clean and tweaked and I don't want to revert to stock then clean bloat and install apps...
Solved: I just insert it again in USB after uninstalling ADB driver and now is working.

Now I have another problem. MTP is working but MSC is not working. It's pain in the a** when transferring with MTP. I tried in Windows 7 and Linux Mint but when connected it just showing as drive but not mounted (the icon is faded).
Solution: I just figure out. You need to reboot to work when switching either MTP or MSC.
Someone?

When u connect phone to system via a usb, in the notification bar, usb icon shud show up. Go on it and hit it. In some roms or tweaks we need to turn on usb storage from there. But not sure.
Also one other trick, try to connect cell in flashmode. Atleast drivers will be reinstalled and if some problem is there might be resolved.
And a weird trick, enable that "install pc companion" prompt if disabled and then connect. Sometime works lol

Hi to all!
Since yesterday, my PC which is running W8 gave an error whenever i tried to connect my xperia mini to my PC. 'USB device not recognized'. I was running CM 10.1 and a new update was available so i tried to flash it. Flashed it successfully and then the network was gone so, what i did was flash back to CM 9.1. Here the problem occurred. My PC is not recognizing my phone. I tried flashing the kernel with flash tool and followed this :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095087 Still nothing. Connected it to another laptop running windows 8. Even that didn't work so i connected my phone to my dad's laptop running windows 7. I was somehow able to flash kernel at first but then the same error there too! Tried 3 different PC's and i'm not able to solve this issue! Please help!
as you have a custom kernel on device, try accessing CWM and installing the stock ROM,then install CM again..
btw did you check the CM10.1 page for any bugs..?

Tried 2 different ROM's on the same kernel. Nothing happens. I get the same error each time! Also now my ear-piece won't work too (In both the ROM's i flashed) :'(
I also noticed that using Win XP, i can connect MSC to my PC and copy/paste items. But as soon i go into fastboot mode, it gives me the error!
Edit: I have used CM 10.1 before with no bugs. This started happening only yesterday!
I know this sounds dumb, but do you have ADB on (android debugging) because my windows 8 computer doesn't recognise my phone without it on. Hope I helped.

try updating the driver by manual selection...
if that doesnt work..
open flashtool..
check the logs when you connect your xperia..
-DELETE-
I somehow managed to connect it to flashhtool in flash mode! Now i'm flashing .42 ftf file to use my device somehow with 0 bugs/glitches. It is taking forever to do so! See the attachment!
Any other way to flash ftf file?
Thank you
Okay, so i did flash the ftf and now running GB .42 Still can't connect to computer

It is detecting my pendrive, my hard-drive and my nexus!
Edit: Tested on 3 laptops each running:- Win8 and other two Win7. Also, tested on 1 PC (dual-booted with XP and Win8) Same result in all of them.
Is SEUS detecting the phone?
Try changing connection modes on the phone...
if not..flash stock kernel
get me a screenshot of flashtool logs for check drivers option..
its here help->check drivers..
