I am new to the flashing rom thing.
Well what happened was....I thought was flashing the viper rom, and I had to use my recovery to unscrew what I didy. Can someone give a short tutorial on flashing roms? I am not a complete **** nugget btw haha.
I loaded the zip file on my SDcard and used the TWRP to flash from zip. Was that wrong?
install error with teamwin recovery.
e:error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(status 1)
That is what i got. I read that binary thing was not the updated.
So I'm trying to use ROM Manager to flash ROM's onto my Galaxy S 2. Tried to boot the phone into recovery mode using the ROM Manager and I get the message:
-- Installing package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
After doing some reading, some mentioned trying to completely uninstall ROM Manager and reinstalling it. Tried that and got the same thing.
Android Version: 2.3.3
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100JPGK20CL342890root at DELL104 #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Anyone got any ideas?
there are plenty of instructions of how to do it in the developers section..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
then flash your desired ROM via Clockword Mod
Edit: it does mention incompatability with Rom Manager.. so flash the ROM you want from CWM (enter CWM by pressing Up on the Volume Key/Power Button/Home key on boot..
If you have already copied your ROM to the SD then go to "install ZIP from SD card", "choose ZIP from SD card" .. then choose the ZIP file of the ROM you want to install and it SHOULD work..
Do Not Use Rom Manager on the SGS2!
You can turn off signature verification, but I suggest downloading your rom again from where you got it and flash it by firstly getting into CWM as described above.
@OP- Signature related error due to unavailable of the Zimage from your rooted kernel. So flash the Zimage from your rooted kernel via CWM.
Regards.

E: signature verification failed

help! lol
What the...
What do you want to do? Root your phone?
Find chainfires cfroot kernel thread and flash the KK5 one from there.
The other errors look like Rom manager is trying to find and access CWM but because you flashed a stock kernel back its not there. Only stock recovery.

It's not an issue. CWM Recoveries are installed within the kernels. If you flash back to stock kernel, you will lose CWM Recovery. Naturally, ROM manager does not work with CWM recoveries on the Samsung Galaxy S II, so let's say you clicked Install ROM in ROM Manager, it would reboot to the stock Samsung recovery, but until you reboot to CWM Recovery it would take it's effect to install the ROM you want.
I suggest you to stick to a custom kernel, I use the Void kernel, and I think it is a great kernel.
hi @ all!
I have a damn problem:
I have stock rom, hboot 1.4 s-off, cwm installed and rooted (gsm)...
after that I wanted to overclock a little..so ok, I thought "just flash a kernel and go on!"
but no, it fails on intallation in cwm...it says:
[...]
Installing : (leedroid kernel 3.70)

Opening update package...
Installing update...

Now flashing LeeDrOID Kernel V3.7.0

I really don"t know why this happens, but I know that my wlan is broken now and that this is my second kernel from 2 what I wanted to flash, but no success...((((((( ://
thanks in advice
i dont think you can install a custom kernel on a custom rom. you also need a custom rom.
To fix ur issue use Flash GUI app to flash custom kernel. Link is in the forum somewhere for free or u can buy it off market.
The problem is you have S-On instead of S-Off.
If you S-Off properly u wont have the issue or wifi error
Well this has been a fight every step of the way....
Im bootloader unlocked
CWM installed (although ive only manager to get into it once)
when i did i got an error status 7 when i tried to flash
googled it - apparently it could be something to do with baseband being wrong/need updating??
Hopefully someone can help
Cheers
Comfy
status ,7 error mostly occurs due to incompatible kernel
which rom are u trying to flash
have u flashed any kernel?
Sent from my Xperia U using Tapatalk 2
First flash included kernel in ROM install ROM now flash desired kernel...
Hi - i kinda got there in the end. When i got the error i was on CWM 5.something (cant remember which one exactly) then i flash Nemesis CWM 2.1 which upped my CWM version to 6.0.1.2 then it let me flash "FireCyano 4.0"
So whats the deal then - i cant just find a rom and flash - i have to find its corresponding kernel...?

Actually i've already tried this,
But i still can't seem to figure out the reason why the installation is cancelling????
I've the gapps signed zip file compatible with the cm10 rom tht i've, i tried installing it without installing the rom, and surprisingly the process completed and showed tht gapps have been installed....
after this i did a factory reset,
pushed the zip file into the sdcard
rebooted the phone into recovery
mount /system
mount /data
mount /data /sdcard
install zip from sdcard
chose the zip file i pushed earlier
confirmed the installation
but the same msg appears
Installing update...
Installation aborted
