[Q] Bootloader Re-lock - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have a quick question for you gents, I have attempted to find the answer to my question, with limited success. My wife will soon be inheriting my Note 2, her only request is that it get reset back to complete stock, while I am no stranger to modifying my device her request has left me with one question.....
With the VRALL4 firmware, is there a way to relock the bootloader when returning to factory unrooted?
Thanks,

You will want to Odin the VRALJB (I think that's the exact name) stock image.

Thanks for the quick response, I saw that flashing the alternate restore was suggested. Am I good to flash the VRALJB odin files? if so, does this roll the bootloader back to the previous version?
Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Alternate restore won't re lock the bootloader. You will want the full stock image. I know you can get a couple from DROID styles guide that's stickied in development.

Excellent, I appreciate it. I was looking at that thread, but was not sure since it states to only flash the alternate restore if you're on the L4 firmware.
Thanks again,

It says that for the people who bricked their phone with a locked boot loader because it will fail at sboot on LL4. For you to just put it back to stock you will want to overwrite your boot loader which it will work since you are unlocked.
As a side note download triangle away and test your flash counter before doing this and it will be completely sock with no signs or was ever touched.

I am doing much the same for other reasons. I have found I am just not a rommer so a few mods with root and I am happy. So time to clean up.
Did you unlock with Mr. Outlers method and are running twrp? If yes would you let me/us know how it goes and what image you ended up using. My goal is to remove twrp and relock the bootloader and fix the flash counter. So I am thinking flash root66 and triangle away then freeze the update apk.

VZW GNOTE 2 Doesn't boot! PLEASE HELP!

Good evening,
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I rooted and unlocked my phone and then tried installing a wrong CM10. Then I installed the stock ROM again so that it would at least work. That succeeded.
However, a popup came offering a OTA update and I hit yes without thinking. It rebooted and stayed at boot loop.
Now when I try using ODIN to reflash the stock ROM it does so, reboots, and stays at the boot screen where the LTE and moving stuff shows up after the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in white text screen. Please, I need this fixed urgently as that's my work phone.
I've tried flashing the rooted stock rom and that doesn't work either. When I try to re-root/unlock it says "Firmware problem please connect to Klies" or something along those lines. I can't boot into recovery mode either. The android shows up and a bar and then it reboots when it's close to finishing the boot into recovery.

I'm confused, where is your phone now. Boot loop, the firmware upgrade problem or other?

Really basic question here, how long have you let it sit on the boot animation screen? Sometimes it takes a very long time for first boot, especially if davlik was wiped.

I just read a post about someone in the same situation that said after about 30 attempts!! with Odin it did finally work.
Also, I have no affiliation with these guys but they seem to know what they are doing and doing it for a reasonable price: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2-jtag-brick-repair/
Good luck.

Boot loop if I try to go to stock ROM. Firmware warning if I try to use boot unlocker/root ROM.
I can't get into recovery under either. When I try to get into recovery under the boot unlock/root ROM I get the firmware problem.

Your phone had to boot up to unlock so again are you boot looping now? I'm thinking you need to use the alternate restore file. It sounds like your boot loader is still locked. If that's the case that's the only image that will actually flash in Odin.

here is your problem:
1) NEVER ACCEPT OTA'S
2) You didnt research before flashing
3) Since you accepted the ota, the bootloader from the original vraljb odin file is black listed. meaning you cant ever use that file again.
4) To fix your problem follow section 1b of my guide, make sure to use the alternate restore link as it does not contain a bootloader in the file. it will revert you back to vraljb firmwqre while maintaining the L4 bootloader.

[Q] Rooted but.bootloader locked vzw note 2

Noob here, thanks in advance for any help. I have a rooted vzw note 2 through Odin root66, I've tried unsuccessfully to flash a new rom, always get the dreaded yellow triangle from big brother. I need to unlock the bootloader but am still a bit timid in exploiting things. I've tried flashing with clockwork mod and goo, with the same result, and manage to return to root using Odin root66 etc... I wonder if I can use casual since I'm already rooted? I'm on stock Os 4.1.1, so close and yet so far away from flashing... any help appreciated, thanks

You have to use Causal if you want to flash a rom. Rooting just gives you root access, to flash a rom your bootloader has to be unlocked and you have to have a custom recovery installed. Thats what Casual does, it unlocks your bootloader and installs you first custom recovery for you. Once that is done you will be able to flash roms, not before.
How did you miss that? Its written in all the guides.

I wish you could. I didn't see the Casual One Click until 5 minutes after I rooted. When you try casual, it will check your bootloader and give you a long message saying a lot of things that basically call you dumb for not reading. I'm currently trying to return to stock but I can't extract an .xz file to get it back to stock because it fails at sboot.bin. Sorry man

If it fails at sboot.bin use the alternative recovery ROM in droidstyles guide and flash it in Odin.
As far as I knew you can use CASUAL to unlock, you just have to use the newest version.

I brought this VZW Note 2 off of craigslist and it was already rooted. I was wanting to flash jelly beans v19 and tried to install TWRP but CWM was already installed and I really forgot what I did its been 10 hours already following guides and the only thing that works is odin, pit and root66 but anything else I try after getting the phone back up fails and root66 would not pass the last several times but this last time it did. I suspect the bootloader is locked but I'm rooted. I want to clear everything and install a fresh rom since I don't know the history and the phone was freezing and glitchy but I did not check see what rom the previous owner had installed and by the way Im a total newb but really have been seaching threads to solve this before posting but with no luck. Flash Root66 or the alternative restore with the NAND erase box in Odin checked. If it won't flash just the ROM in Odin try flashing the ROM + the PIT by following the instructions in droidstyles guide in Android Development.
You would do better to make your own thread too.

There is not a stock 4.2.2 for our phone. So I have no idea what you used. I hope you weren't trying to flash a custom ROM with odin. You need to follow droidstyle's guide to try to get back to our stock software.

Wow. You need to read a LOT more before you start trying anything. At this point, all you are going to do it screw things up and once that happens I guarantee you are going to go back to Verizon and say "I don't know what happened."
Stop randomly attempting things. Your first step is figure out why casual failed and fix it.

Just to warn you. If this locks your bootloader, its probably locked forever a la the S4 and N3. If you previously used a custom recovery, you will no longer have this option, likely ever again with this phone. In addition, getting Hashcode to develop SS for this phone is unlikely in my opinion because we've been unlocked for so long and the phone is over a year old. Many times users take root and unlocked bootloaders for granted, thinking that if they take the OTA, someone will figure out how to reunlock or reroot the phone, the former is HIGHLY unlikely. If you can wait a day, someone will likely post an unmodified flashable zip of the newest OTA that won't jeopardize your unlocked bootloader. If you truly don't care about losing this option for good, then by all means go ahead and odin the OTA, the PDA slot should do it.
So this is what I am pondering. I'm running cleanrom which is no longer supported; should I stick with 4.2 forever or take the 4.3 build from verizon ?

There are more than just those two options. You can stay on clean ROM til a rooted, stable OTA flashable is posted. Beans is working on that now I believe. That way you'll have the same experience that the OTA gives, but you'll retain the option to root or even flash a different ROM should you desire. Beans will also be updating his custom ROM build to my knowledge based on this new OTA.
How do I track this? I mean is there a thread that Bean post to that will indicate wehn this is ready ?

If you can get to download mode it's not bricked. Try doing a factory reset in stock recovery or figure out why your drivers aren't recognizing the device.

Okay well...I was messing around with some roms and such and found i needed to have "You must be on MJ5 bootloader or higher, or you will have reboots & freezes!!!"
Alright well I have/had no idea what that was and seen a thread that showed me a link to mj5 bL and all it said was flash it thru odin so i figured it was a good idea and I did that
Now to give some info I have a NOTE 2 for verizon
16gb
and from what I knew it was the one with I605VRAMC3 <--- this lol
cant think of the wording.. my product name WAS sch-i605
Ok now for some reason I flashed a BL in odin and now my phone says GT-N7100!!!
I have lost my imei and efs and all that =(
I cannot figure out how the hell to get back to my regular firmware i guess..I am so lost lol
I tried to flash "KIES_HOME_I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_1098177_REV0 4_us er_low_ship.tar.md5" and it doesnt work always fails at system.img
and i tried to flash
I605VRUEMJ9_I605VZWEMJ9_VZW.zip and it doesnt work fails also at system img
Please any +++++ feedback is good feedback
I know Im missing info for you to make a judgement , maybe, just ask me and I will tell. Im a nervous wreck atm xD
This is not development so you should not have posted here. You are trying to flash things when you don't know what you are doing and are not thoroughly reading things. There are several stickied guides to help you out. Read them.

Thats whats really messing with my head. I know i fd up but I sort of understand all this.
I can flash a rom doing certain steps going back to philz recovery.
The thing is I can do anything GT-N7100 Wise... I can flash that pit and that stock... But the problem is thats not my the original firmware so basically my phone service wont work.
Its odd
I can get into download mode easily
I tried to flash my original pit file but it just fails at system.img
I also tried just flashing the "I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_VZW" in pda but it fails also.
Its confusing why it even let me flash a different firmware in the first place but it wont let me flash back?
