they look exactly the same but im not sure if it would work
I'll let you know shortly!

Hey. Kinda ironic. I just got a Droid X2 in for repair that wasn't responding to touch. Turns out it needs a new button flex unit because the home button is stuck in place from excessive use. I just so happen to have an original Droid X for parts so I decided to pull the part out of it and try it. I will let you know the results in a day or so...

From my understanding it is hit and miss, some of the parts transfer over, and some do not, I would guess the cable should be fine. At least worth trying it out.

Sometimes (about half the time now) when i try to unlock my screen the touch won't work. Some of these times (what was just occurring at first) it will unlock and then the screen will "jitter" and select random things while not responding to my touch, other times it just wont respond or do anything. Originally i thought that this was just a problem with the stock rom but i have boot strapped and flashed joker's new rom and it's still having the problem. Should i be contacting Motorola to gave them replace my phone?
Other info:
I have in pocket deselected.
RUNNING 198_7
Using widget locker, but i think it happens with out it
Launcher pro
Thanks for the help!
Edit:
So I figured out that the top left of my screen isn't level with the rest. When the problem starts to happen I turn off the screen, compress the top left corner and the problem is gone for half a day to a day. So... that's cool... at least it is still under warranty.
I found the it happened to my phone ALOT when connected via USB to the computer and after I cleaned the screen off with glass cleaner when I ran the multi-touch test for the 8-point touchmod.

I've seen it happen on my hero with bad usb cords but this is happening when not plugged in. I've also never used glass cleaner on it or the multi-touch test on the photon.

Im thinking i need to let a hold of Motorola

So I was using my phone and just set it down and it started freaking out and going into things before the screen even shut off. Should I check out the multi-touch thing to just see where my touch points are or can I do some type of calibration?

Edit: I'm guessing that I'm the only one having this problem?
Have u tried reflashing 8 point touch?

I haven't ever put 8 point touch on my phone. I could try to flash it though and see if that does anything.

I would up with a similar issue on my Evo, and I wound up having to get a new one. Not sure if the Photon is gonna be the same, but that was how my phone was sadly. Let us know if the eight point touch helps or not.
So everything looks fine on the multi-touch but i cant get the program up while my screen is freakin out so it kinda defeats the purpose. Jokers skinny 4g doesn't have 8 touch point mod correct?
Sent from my Photon 4G
No not that I know of.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
So I got the multi up while it was freakin out. There was a point toward the top of the screen (the edge of the touch "disc" was touching the edge of the screen) that stayed where it was but just jittered left to right. The really weird part is that my second touch point could not go above it. This has to be a manufacturer flaw as far as I'm concerned so when I have time I'm going to call Motorola.

Its an issue with charging. Just unplug it if it gets annoyingly useless

I would agree as I've seen something similar with my Heroc. The problem is it happens all the time when it's unplugged... the micro USB could be haunted with an evil ghost charger... I'm not sure what the exercisium protcol is for that.

Now that you mention it...my power button wiggles side to side loosely too. Hmmm.
My RAZR buttons are more stable than my HTC Desire Z and my iPhones.

Man..these phone manufacturers should just hire a few people from XDA for field testing..every..single..niggle..wow. We'd have perfect phones - literally. Not even a "wiggly" power button to complain about..haha.

Did I complain? I just said mine wiggles. There no reason to start problems.

mine wiggles too. I think it's supposed to..
Actually, a button with a slight wiggle and or movement adds to the tactile feel. A button that is very firm, ridged etc is difficult to find and operate when one needs to operate it without looking.

The volume buttons and the power button are the same, exactly the same. They have zero movement lengthwise or side to side but have slight movement up and down.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was starting a problem here. I honestly felt it was rather funny that we have a thread about a wiggly power button.

I'm not rushing to the store to exchange it, however the wife's Droid razr doesn't wiggle like this. Maybe in time.

This is my 3rd razr over the button issue. The others were loose, hard to press, one even stuck inside the phone and wouldn't come out. A couple of them were flush with the side and had no travel.
This (3rd) unit has a loose power button that is flush on it's top but sticks out on the bottom at an angle.
But seriously - other than the non-replaceable battery and some screen issues, these razrs seem so much better than the Infuse or the S2
Went to verizon and they replaced it. No hassle or whatever. The guy told me its a factory defect. He makes sure the new unit is tight and good.
Very happy with the customer service
Pleased to say that I have a solid power button

The power button in my RAZR was firm and solid out of the box.
After five weeks, it has become loose and shaky. Still 100% usable and I would not say it's broken but loose.
Searching the web, I`ve found similar posts related to Droids and Defys handsets.
Is this behaviour a Motorola feature?
its not really an issue untill it stops working :/ my defy and xt720 all had this but they were ok

Yes, I think so... but dont worry, it will not be a problem.....
My power button does the same thing, it can be moved up and down without any force..
..anyway I think that isn't a casual thing, i.e. not a defect.
It's normal with buttons that aren't exactly plain with the shell to have this behavior as they feel better to touch and they're more comfortable to press.
All of a sudden my touchscreen quit working while customizing my ADW themes and lasted almost 10 minutes then magically started working again. Is there a way to do a soft/hard power reset? When I had my D2G all I had to do was slide out my keyboard and press although, shift delete.

Power and volume down for eight secs to manually power off. Miner does this randomly too. And it powers on and off so quickly that restarting isn't a problem.

Cool deal I was doing the totally opposite, up volume and power. Thanks for your response.

I've had the same happen to me with LP pro on my Photon, and now my RAZR. My theory is that blur doesnt play well with 3rd party launchers. I've been able to shut down with the touchscreen though. Strange that it completely craps out on you...

I've been studying converting my razr to a razr maxx and had the opportunity to purchase a maxx for a reasonable price with a clean esn.
Here's the catch, it has a cracked unresponsive black screen. It powers up when rebooted, makes the startup sound and vibrates. The screen is deader than dead. No hepatic?? feedback, no lower key lights, etc. Does have the flashing green light upper left.
Instead of waiting for the battery to die is there a way to to it off with the side keys? I'd like to take it apart soon but would rather have it completely turned off before I do that.
Googled this question and searched the forum. I probably do not know what to use as a querry.
Be gentle I'm a noob.

Hold volume down + power for few seconds
There's a remote chance the screen still accepts input, but not being able to see what's happening, who knows.... do you have an HDMI cable? Plug it into a TV and see if touch input still works, then shut it down if it does.

Thanks but its too late. My big fingers kept turn both phones on and off while separating the case so it did not matter.
I just finished the conversion. Its a pretty simple procedure. Once I figure out how to take it apart the rest was simple.
I used a hobby heat gun to warm the phone and a guitar pick to separate the case.
I have a few pictures of the maxx apart but I can't post pics yet.

I have the XT912 MAXX with the same blank screen and blinking green LED. Please describe how did you revive your phone?
I don't get this, i know you can exchange parts between XT910 and XT912 but isn't the MAXX a totaly different model?
Hello everyone, i just wanted to ask anyone if this is on all phones or just the droid razr? i am having some multitouch problems - when i play games ( fps games to be exact ) when i keep pressing the left stick to run and keep pushing my fingers on the other side of the screen to turn my right fighter sometimes start controlling the left side of the screen, where i have my left finger placed ( or the other way around ). is this normal? because this is somewhat irating at times thanks.
I have the same issue
Sliced from my proud Greek RAZR
can anyone tell me if this is just on droid razr or all the phones?
Problem only arises during my RAZR is plugged!! Usually no issue.
No multi touch problem on my nexus s!

I've seen several reports of screen "bugginess" while plugged in. Most of the reports attribute it to 3rd party chargers but I'm not 100 percent sure that it doesn't also occur with the stock charger. Bottom line is for this phone, screen control when plugged into a wall charger is known to cause some devices to behave erratically.
