Nope, u have to use Odin and load the file(s) u extract from the downloaded zip into it.
Then u must connect phone to PC and flash this.
But I recomment to read a bit more on XDA and at least search for it, before u start flashing.

.....what a quick response..... thanks
What option should I choose?
Bootloader
PDA
Phone (I guess)
CSC
Or something else?
Cheers

If it's a single file, PDA. As previously advised, Guides have everything you need to know. We're not going to regurgitate every little detail because it's been done thousands of times before.

That's what I meant with - u should read a bit before.
But just a quick guide:
If u have only one file in this zip, just load it into PDA > connect phone (download moda) > flash.
If u have 3 or more in it, u have to load pda into PDA, phone into PHONE and csc into CSC > connect phone (download mode) > flash.
For a more infos please read first!!
A full guide u find for example here
Much success

Thanks, it is not problem in regurgitating every little detail, the problem is in finding the right solution.
For example, if I knew that I will delete original kernel from samsung, I would not root my samsung, but you learn as you go.
Internet is getting bigger and finding the right info is the hardest part.
thanks for the link.

If you're flashing a Samsung rom then you'll obviously have Samsung kernel after flash.
If you want another kernel then flash it afterwards via ODIN.

[Q] How can i revert to UK firmeare

Hi,
I have downloaded UAE firmware and now i cant update my phone through kis, i am trying to revert back to a firmware that Kis can recognise.
Since i changed the firmware to UAE, the camera quality went really bad, when i spoke to Samsung, they told me its the firmware and you need to revert back and they are sure the camera quality will be better.
I am currently on
Android 2.3.5
Base version: I9100XXKI4
kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9100JPK2-CL655700
Build: GINGERBREAD.JPKJ2
Any idea how Please?
Not sure why you'd want to flash anything to do with Stoke on your phone, but if you mean stock, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

Thanks.
This is a typo, i am not trying to root my device or anything. all i am trying to do is to go back to normal UK version which Kis can understand.
the link you provided talk about rooting etc.
Clean your eyes and try reading it again.

Take it easy man!! I am new here, dont have a lot of knowledge like you , as you can see i have made a mistake and trying to rectify it. the link you provided is full of information but i dont know which one to download.
PS: if you are are going to reply with some useless information then please don't bother
Question what firmware do you want original branded firmware or generic Samsung stock firmware .
From the link posted if you read down you come to .
XWKH4
Android 2.3.4
This package has: PDA: XWKH4| Modem/phone: XXKH3| CSC: XEUKD1
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/WWT5Q0XJAP
Its UK firmware that should update via KIES and is nothing to do with rooting .
Backup before installing and backup your EFS if you have not done so .
jje
Thanks for this.
latest firmware will do
Couple a questions. what does EFS stand for?
Also, the file appear to be an .exe extension. is this something i should worry about.
i though in order to go back to UK firmware i need to install a different Kernel or something like that.
The exe is a self extracting 7zip file which contains the firmware in tar format.

[Q] Need the XWKI8 firmware and Stock Kernel for Telia Denmark

Hello all, and sorry for my newb-ness!
I was looking around for making my SGS2 "legal" again, flashing it with entirely "old" firmware, but the firmwares i found here, are not fitting the original description i have.
my phone ran (XWKI8 before rooting and flashing new firmware to it)
but the problem is;
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash
The only fitting my phone and operator is from the SP (3), where mine is Telia...
I even tried getting the ones from 3, but as the download links doesnt work, im pretty lost, can someone help me?
XWKI8: http://www.multiupload.com/H975DHZQLE
Firmware info: PDA:XWKI8| PHONE:NEKI2| CSC:HTDKI1
XWKI8 Stock Kernel:http://www.multiupload.com/4O6DVGUGSU
Password: [email protected]
can i just flash either one from "telia" and then update normally via kies, or whats the best solution?
i want the SGS2 so legal that i could turn it in to my provider for service!
or any firmware for Telia
or can anyone link to me to any firmware hardcoded with telia's info?
none of the ones linked in this forum, or others are valid... downloads just doesnt work, HELP
Telia
Denmark

Are you based in Denmark? If so, then this would be the latest Telia fm from that thread. KK5 is newer than KI8.
Yeah... but the download link doesnt work!
and thats my problem, because i CANT find it anywhere
thanks for the reply though, but if you find a working download link for the KK5 it would be much appreciated!

You'd need the stock kernel relating to the rom, I've had no need to service so not sure, if anyone else who has had previous experience on this could help.
thought as much... and all the download links relating to the XWKK5 are busted
think im am going to try this one, until i find a legal one

Try Checkfus. There's a thread on here, search for it.
what should i do with that?
i dont need to check if there is an update, i just want either an older version kernel/firmware from Telia Denmark
which is working, so that i can update the old fashioned way!
or what was you intention with checkfus?
You can download the KI8 firmware with Checkfus. Try it & see

what to do if a Odin firmware upgrade hangs?
it hasnt been moving for a few minutes now, still stuck at the <ID:0/005> data.img part
just wait it out, or any other ideas?
can i abort it, and start over with one i know works?
Sadly... checkfus was of no help
but i got my phone running on the XWKK5 firmware, and it works ok!
but still not the best solution, i simply need the KI8 for Telia

Can you give me an example of how to fill out the info in CheckFus?
because its says error every time...
i've tried an exact copy of this:
Firmware info: PDA: XWKK5| Phone: XXKI4| CSC: OXXKJ3
help
In my case, in the standard tab I chose Android/GT-I9100T/Australia (Vodafone), then I clicked on check firmware. Checkfus told me KJ1 was the latest available, I clicked download, waited for it to download the firmware and at the end of the process it automatically decrypted it.
Which gave me a zip containing a tarball (just like the firmware in Intratech's thread) I can flash in Odin if I ever need to go back to stock.
See... I didnt notice if my phone is a regular GTi9100 or a -T, -N or whatever the options are, how do i find such info, because i was so smart not to make a backup of my current settings :-(
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
So... now i came this far:
my phone is:
Baseband :I9100XXKI4
Kernel : I9100XWKK5
so far so good...
but i have trouble appending the predictive and T9 dictionary... are there any addons i can get for these, because i really want to be able to use dictionary in my language (Danish + German and English)
please help
Nvm---
Found the solution (or rather the Firmware)
found an unmodified version, that had multilingual
thanks for ALL the help, greatly appreciated
btw, how to thank ppl in here?

XXKI1 - No update available in Kies - would like to update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5

Hey happy people out there!
I hope you are doing well. Since January 29th I have got a S2 phone which is almost brilliant. It is worth the money - definitely.
Unfortunately my phone is running on 2.3.4 and there is no update available in Kies.
I would like to update because people say that the battery management is much better on 2.3.5
My phone specifications:
PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100DBTKH1
Build Info: 14. Sep. 2011 KST 2011
I was searching the last two days to find the appropriate update but there are so many different types of firmwares that I am not sure which one is the right for my phone. So that I need advice of some professional people.
So thanks in advance and all the best!!

I had XWKE7 (UK), which is 2.3.3 when I bought the phone, and a few months ago, I updated to XXKI3 (Poland), which is 2.3.5.
I am in the US.
So it MAY make a difference, but probably won't.
EDIT: What I meant was, it MAY make a difference what country firmware you flash, but it may not. Some have reported that flashing a firmware that includes modems specific to one country, can result in signal issues if you are in a different country, because some modems are better suited for the particular frequencies in use in specific countries. That said, if you flash a firmware for a different country, then have signal issues, you can just look at the modem thread and flash modems more suited for your country to "fix" your signal issues.
I have a XXLP6 (4.0.3 ICS) from sammobile. Its quite stable. The only issue is the radio not working but everything else is ok

Multiupload has been shut down permanently.
That looks like one of Intratech's "frankenstein" packages. You'll probably not be able to find anywhere that particular package with that combination of PDA, (XXKI4) Modem, (XXKI4) and CSC. (XEUKH2)
However, I9100XWKI4, which has PDA XWKI4, modem XXKI1, and CSC XEUKH2, is available on both samfirmware.com, and skywanker.net.
I don't really understand why wouldn't you just upgrade to the last 2.3.6
XWLA4 that is. You will lose nothing and your phone will run better.
My two cents.

You are WAY overcomplicating things.
Do not use .pit or repartition unless you absolutely have to, and know what you you are doing.
Put the one .tar file in the PDA section, and flash. Done. Use the one victorator linked above. It will work, and is a one file package. (search the linked page for "XWLA4")
If you used a 3 part file before, that's fine. You don't NEED to use a 3 part file again to re-flash. The singular .tar file will contain all the components you need.
EDIT: Actually, above you said:

So the PDA XWKI4, did you download it from samfirmware.com, or skywanker.net? If so, that is a 1 part file, and will contain the CSC and modem within it. Just put that in PDA and flash. Leave everything else blank.

What do you mean it does not boot? Does it get stuck on the boot screen? Try a full wipe after the flash. You will lose all data, but more often then not, it will boot after this.

You meant CSC, not crc, right?
And take a look at the file name "I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1.tar.md5". If you notice, it has "I9100XWKI4" (PDA), "I9100XEUKH2" (CSC), and "I9100XXKI1" (modem) all in the filename.
EDIT: maybe you should just go here.

[Q] Best stock GB ROM?

Hi,
This might be a stupid question but which is the most stable GB stock ROM available out there as per your opinion? and what is the harm in installing a ROM with different CSC as to yours current?
Does doing a factory reset after installing a ROM, removes all the settings from your old ROM ? as in is it like a format on a PC?
Thanks in advance.

This is TOTALLY subjective, as you yourself stated with "as per your opinion", and usually starts a bunch of arguments. Which is why these threads tend to get closed. I expect this one to get closed shortly.

You probably won't get updates via Kies anymore, if you were ever able to in the first place.

A "factory reset" essentially restores the last ROM you flashed to how it was the moment you flashed it.
EDIT to add: to the above factory reset question... it does remove all user installed apps and data too though. So it is KIND OF like a PC format, but not exactly.

Hi thanks for the reply. No i don't want to start a long thread of debates what i meant was, is the latest GB 2.3.6 better and more stable than the 2.3.5? The reason i asked about the CSC was coz 2.3.6 is not available for my region so was wondering if it is more stable than 2.3.5 i would upgrade it!
I updated my system to 2.3.5 via kies and all the software & everything else was how it was before I upgraded to it, does kies reinstall the stuff?

I'm still on XXKI3, which is 2.3.5. It's perfectly stable for me. CSC only matters if you want releases through Kies. If you want to continue to receive Kies updates, then don't change anything. Otherwise, you can flash whatever CSC you want.

No. Kies updates are non-wipe, which means it won't touch the data partition, where your apps live.

2.3.6 is better and for me still beats ICS by a narrowing margin .

one last question, when flashing a GB stock ROM which is not available in my country via KIES do i need to put the following in ODIN:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
for that particular ROM? or is there something i shouldn't mess with?

no need to worry, any FW package you download should contain these 3 files, to select from respective sections of the ODIN
or all these in a single TAR file to select from PDA.

You've for sure got an I9100, right?
USUALLY, full firmwares are all inclusive. So they will contain modem and CSC already. So you just put it into the PDA field in Odin and leave everything else alone.
You only put modem and CSC in if the package you put in PDA doesn't have them already, or you want to overwrite the ones that are already in a package.
Make sure you don't re-partition, or include a .PIT file unless you REALLY need to, the .PIT file is FOR SURE INTENDED FOR YOUR MODEL OF PHONE, and you know what you are doing. Flashing a .PIT file for a different model of phone will completely hard-brick your phone, and there won't be anything you can do to recover it yourself unless you get your own JTag box. Otherwise, it will have to go to Samsung or a service point that has JTag.

if you select any of the CSC, you probebly get a single .7z file which can be extracted with winrar, then you will get a .md5 file, just select that one from PDA, as per the guide of the same thread....GOODLUCK
I have not tested this to comment, but used 2.3.6, its very stable...
there are firmwares released after this also..like XWLA2, LA4 etc...

Installed firmware XWLA4 it is working like a charm and it is much much better than any before. Before i had 2.3.3 and wen i upgraded to 2.3.5 from KIES i was disappointed by the lack of stability in 2.3.5, Now when i upgraded 2.3.6 it is far far better than any other stock GB available.

Unknown CSC

Well, after flashing some roms, I got this message right now (*#1234#)
AP: I9300UBALE6
CP: I9300UBLE6
CSC: unknown
This ROM is at my SG3: Samsumg Stock: I9300UBALE6 / CSC I9300ZTOALE7
And the original one was CSC I9300ZTAALE6.
Can you help me?

Just use the guide in post #1 to flash with Odin CSC section

If you used MobileODIN, try reflashing the same ROM, but having the .md5 in the external SD card, not in the internal storage.
I had this issue once and that's what worked for me.
Anyhow, forget about the Brazilian ROMs (such as ZTO). They are all outdated already.
Get one from NEE (new) or ITV (newest). They are better, newer, leaner and work flawlessly in Brazil (and yes, they both contain Brazilian Portuguese).
may I ask you to show me which one (ITV) should I use? Or just tell me what country I should look for in checkfus!
Thanks !!

Raphael, if you're going to use the non-GUI version of CheckFus Downloader, this is the command line to get it:
Code:
CheckFusDownloaderCmd.exe -dl I9300XXALF6/I9300ITVALF1/I9300XXLF5/I9300XXALF6 ITV GT-I9300
Otherwise, for the GUI version, just copy/paste the parts below in the "Firmware info" of CheckFus Downloader 2.1:
Product Code: GT-I9300MBDITV
PDA: I9300XXALF6
CSC: I9300ITVALF1
Phone: I9300XXLF5
then click on "Check Firmware" and then "Download".
it was not so easy to find it in checkfus...I didn't find in gui version, and on nongui I downloaded, but after the download the program crashes and broke the file. 3 times.
But I found it at Sammobile, downloaded and already flashed! Thank you again!
Mine's also says CSC Unknown... I'm on Official JB Polish rom... do I have to flash that CSC package?? But what is the one correspondent to the Official JB Polish??
I have the same thing after the Polish ROM. Does having an unknown CSC actually matter for any reason?
Threads seem to indicate that it doesn't, and my phone is working normally, but maybe I'm missing something obvious.
CSC may play a part if your network has fast dormancy .
CSC essentially contains a list of network setting for local areas .
Example
<Country>UK & IRE</Country><CountryISO>GB</CountryISO><Region>EUR</Region><SalesCode>BTU</SalesCode><NbNetworkInfo>20</NbNetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo><MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC><NetworkName>O2 UK Pay Monthly</NetworkName></NetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo><MCCMNC>23410</MCCMNC><NetworkName>O2 UK Pay & Go</NetworkName></NetworkInfo>-<NetworkInfo>
CSC code is part of the HDSWVER code that is used for Kies /Ota updates if anyone actually uses that route .

You have corrupted CSC, Flash the rom again in Odin as CSC, i.e. put the MD5 file in CSC instead of PDA and it will fix the problem.
You have better reset your firmware by using "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in your Samsung KIES 2.5.0.12114_1.
You don't need a correct CSC for your phone as it will just download the firmware for you according to the serial number you provided to the software. However, please back up your phone first as it may delete all your data.
Is there a way to fix this WITHOUT resetting? I didn't encounter it until recently. I assume it's something related to using Mobile Odin, but not sure.

I am not sure about that. Maybe you just try to download the CSC corresponding to your firmware version and flash it with odin, but I don't know if it will reset your phone.
Anyone who really does know how to fix this (or if it is even necessary)?
I also had this problem. Reflashing the firmware again fix it for me.

Reflashed via desktop Odin, rooted via Chainfire's latest root method. Reset. Flashed CWM touch. Device status is Normal and CSC is correct.
Just for future reference, in case anyone searches for this later. This was the actual problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950082
Simply reflashing the ROM via Mobile Odin and allowing the stock recovery to be flashed solved it. Flash the CWM recovery later, if you want it.
Works like a charm.
