Alright, so Yesterday I got my DNA, I've been trying all day yesterday to get the bootloader unlocked. I did the one click method and checked the CID and it is all ones. When I went to HTC dev I'm getting the error of 160. I've done research to see that this is because of the unsupported device and that the exploit failed, yet I'm getting all ones? SOme help and or guiding would be great
Oh and I have tried on my windows 7 desktop and windows 8 laptop.

I am getting the exact same error.
From bootloader, run fastboot cmd
fastboot oem writecid 22222222
Then go back to htcdev and start over. Make sure you use a new copy/paste from
fastboot oem get_identifier_token

Are you in HBOOT when you try to relock? You should be. Also if you have a custom recovery you're going to have to RUU.

Easiest way to ignore the mainver is to get the kernel(boot.img) from the RUU or whatever ROM you're trying to flash. Then boot the phone into HBOOT, plug into your pc, and issue the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (In DOS/Command Prompt). That will flash the kernel without dealing with the mainver issue.
Thanks everyone, I finally got the new ota radios and running clean rom 1.6. Patience was the key. I got my mainvers down to 1.00.000.0 as I was referred and WaaLaahttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467099
I apprecaite you guys help. I will be back I guarantee. I love trying out new roms.

Possible file corruption. Download again from another source, and if it keeps happening then extract the .img files and flash from fastboot in this order:
boot, system, userdata, recovery
and see if that fixes it.
Still didn't work is there another way

i just did this 5 minutes ago. i ran the ruu.exe while my phone was in hboot and it didnt even check my current version, worked perfectly, you need to "fastboot oem lock" first though. i was getting errors when i tried to run the ruu while in the android system.
now im trying to figure out how to re-unlock it
edit... wow, that was so easy, i just typed "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin"
unlocked again
i had the same problem but i got the ruu to run now im updated but now the unlocking is being a ***** (cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin') is what it keeps saying

Ok this might seem dumb but did you type it exactly as I have it in the post above yours, its case sensitive and it needs the _ between the unlock_code. And fastboot oem unlock isn't a valid fastboot command.
Also, which ruu did you use, I think this matters, I used the 2.17 from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/
I think its the 7th one down.

You can relock through adb. I believe the command is "fastboot oem lock"
applying an OTA also relocks the bootloader
thanks good info

If you want to get technical about it, you need either the sdk or adb installed in order to use fastboot command and your phone in fastboot from the bootloader. .
And on the evo lte, htc has brought in fast boot mode in the os for a quicker startup sequence, because the phone doesn't truly turn off, just a hibernate state.
But I wasn't being technical about it because that's not what the op was asking
I just didn't want the guy to try to do
Adb fastboot OEM lock
That won't work. It would throw a error.just trying to be correct. also you don't necessarily need adb to use fastboot. The fastboot and adb binaries are packaged separately. He could boot into fastboot by doing volume down and power then using fastboot only unlock the bootloader using the fastboot binary.
Fastboot OEM unlock.

Oh, I wasn't aware that you could use fastboot without the sdk or adb installed.
Just relocked and upgraded to the RUU, do I need to so the whole process to unlock again?
On a MAC, ./adb devices works and returns the device but ./fastboot unlock oem returns waiting on phone.

You sure you're in fastboot and not just hboot? It should say Fastboot USB in red on the screen.
Make sure you have any antivirus programs or anything like that turned off.

Tried it again, but got an error: error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin': No such file or directory
That mean I have to unlock it again?
Make sure Unlock_code.bin is in the correct folder with the fastboot executabke, that sounds like the problem the unlock code file isn't in the fastboot folder.
