Hello,
I'd like to ask somebody more proficient than me to modify/create/whatever to get AOSP jelly bean lockscreen
there are numerous entries in xda forums about that but it seems I'm too dumb to follow it - there's always something wrong.
example links I've found for S2 JellyBean but can't follow:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689376
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026976
Thanx in advance (also for not advising me to try 3rd party lockscreens which I found all either laggy or unresponsive or unreliable or battery draining or just ugly)

Just like you I didn't understand anything on those two threads!! But since this is for S2, it may or may not work for S Advance... just wait for some expert to answer you..
Why don't you give Holo Locker a try.. I used to use it when I was on GB...

It consumes your battery. I tried to make that one work, but no luck. When I transfer modded file to my phone I got same thing like before.
I follow four different tutorials and none succeeded, we must find the specific form for SGS Advance.
That seems easy. Try using Virtuous Ten Studios. It will save a lpt of time and help in debugging.

Tried it but I got stuck in a bootloop when I replaced the android.policy.jar in my phone
thanks Shaan for the tip about the software.
successfully edited and compiled android.policy.jar file - I'm trying to follow mirko_ddd's tutorial
but no luck decompiling secsettings.apk - I know it has dependencies on framework-res.apk and tw-framework.res but I can't find any option in the program to force that
-----
just got it, finally decompiled secsettings.apk
----
SECOND EDIT:
I finally managed to decompile secsettings, followed mirko_ddd's tutorial, recompiled and exchanged the androidmanifest.xml from original .apk as otherwise system claimed not to have the app installed (ie. you couldn't enter settings at all). so, the system boots fine, everything works fine, except there's no change, so still no way to toggle AOSP lock.
currently I'm at loss, can you share any ideas with me? ofc if you'd like to take a look I'll upload the smali files I changed

Hi
Finally - first post after just reading the forum, and for good start it's kind of how to questions.
So, as mentioned in the topic I need to restore standard TW Launcher on my device, at the moment it is broken thanks to my noobish operations. I tried to replace TW with the modded TW4.5.
TW4.5 doesn't work on my gs2 and to install it I just deleted the stock one. I made a copy of standard apk, but nothing happend when I copy it back into system/app directory. It also won't to be installed.
Now I use GO Launcher and I'm happy with it but the thought that standard one doesn't work make feel strange.
Please help
I had the same issue last night but got TW4.5 working fine in the end. However i did end up going back to the original anyway (some widget bugs that i probably could have sorted but couldnt be bothered -.-').
The way i got my original TW back was as follows:
1) Put the original touchwiz30.apk file and the .odex file back into /system/app.
2) Delete the Touchwiz4.apk
3) Try install the old launcher only to be told "Application not installed".
4) Reboot the phone and it should let you use the normal launcher again, use Home Switcher if youve set the other as default.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot mate, this is what I actually thought, cuz it's simple and the most logical at all, but I lost my mind with this mess, so can I ask you/anyone for a favor to upload/send on email both of these files, please?

edit:
Problem's solved, I made silly mistake - I didn't recognize that the root uninstaller app did add the '2.3.3' phrase between file name and file extension.
U helped a lot by posting the correct file name.
Thanks
Thanks for the question I have the same problem.
can u post ur stock files cuz i ****ed up and didnt take backup plz?
Srry for lag, havent seen it. I'll upload it tommorow from work or if u need it earlier I suggest to download a rom based on stock one and you will find it (there's stock tw in villain rom for sure).

Hello all
When I had Galaxy S, I found out that flashing custom ROMs not only gives you huge benefits, but also has drawbacks - one of them is loosing the additional languages that regional firmwares have.
Then I found out this great thread which showed me what files to replace, to get back all the missing languages.
Now I just got Galaxy S 2 and it has the right keyboard, and I'm rooted so I thought I'd take the keyboard files and flash them on whatever ROM I choose.
My question [AT LAST!] is:
What are the respective files, libraries, etc. that are required for this to work? Are they the same as in Galaxy S, are there more or less?
Thanks
Samsung keyboard files are AxT9IME.apk found in system/app and libXt9core.so found in system/lib.
Thanks, but it didn't work.
I found the files, but it seems that the ones in 2.3.3 are way different than those in 2.3.4 so the Samsung Keypad just disappears...
Seems I'm stuck with the buggy market options.
You can try clearing the keypads data under settings/applications/manage applications then reboot the phone.
It doesn't give force closes or anything, replacing the app just makes it disappear from the list. Tho it's still visible with Titanium as a crossed out entry.
That's odd, how did you install the new files?
First I tried to do it via CWM, but I probably messed it up, since I can't make my own scripts and just steal someone else's anyway it did nothing.
Then I tried manual replacing via Root Explorer and then the keypad disappeared.
I'll find a way to do it, the only thing I don't know - are the 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 files compatible. If not there's no point trying to do it, right?
I don't see there being any difference between 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 but if you want you can just download a rom that is 2.3.4 and extract the files you need.
I think I know why there's a problem. I'm trying to replace an odexed version of the Samsung Keypad, and I copy both files. And probably there's some place else in the Android OS which does a check and causes the error.
Cause I replaced Swype sucessfuly (and it didn't have an .odex part).
Can it be that?
UPD: Yes, it's totally that, I deleted both the .apk and .odex files and placed a dedoexed version of the AxT9IME.apk in system/app and it worked again. Now I have to find a way to deodex the apk I have, and I know nothing of programming
This thread might be helpful. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132724 I briefly looked over it and it doesn't seem to be that hard. Good luck

Hello web masters and developers,
I've got a noob question...
I've got Jusada's ICSunday Final ROM (all credits to Jusada, and of course I've got his permission to do moding), which I modified for my personal needs.
Until now I've added many options that missed in original release (so it's not barebone anymore) like live wallpapers, torch, RE, ScanMedia, battery drain fix and GPS fix, transparent status bar and modified Acheps CM theme (all credits to their developers, u can find the topics here in Ace forum) etc.
There is couple of things I currently cannot resolve and that drives me crazy.
When I make a fresh install of the ROM, it starts with default wallpaper (which I modified too). But since I often use my favorite livewallpaper, i really need it to be set by default from the system. Now, I've got Livewallpaperspicker.apk installed and working. I can put the livewallpaper's apk file in the /system/app and to be installed by default, but how to make it enabled by default instead of the static default_wallpaper.jpeg inside framework_res.apk?
Where in which file I should enable it bu default?
Thank you for your patience, and also excuse me for my bad english, and If I break the rules with this thread!
Regards!
P.S: Excuse me for the stupid thread title, I couldn't figure out a better one...
Obviously no one knows, or it's too difficult to explain for noobs like me... Sad... I search on Google but either I don't search with correct keyword or there are no such thread/topic/lesson...

<string name="default_wallpaper_component">com.android.wallpaper/.nexus.NexusWallpaper</string>

Thanks for the reply mate, but it seems that there is no "value" folder inside my /res folder. Anyway I searched for strings.xml inside other folders in /res folder but... no success... I'll extract the ROM's package right now and will search inside all folders for strings.xml and will see if such a file exist... Thanks btn pressed for the reply and for the idea
P.S: I've found the file that contains keyword "default_wallpaper_component" in it. It's framework.odex. Now I've got to figure out first how to edit it (with notepad++ there are a bunch of unusable characters) and what exactly to write to enable my favorite_livewallpaper.apk by default. Because it's gonna be normal, pre-installed .apk file (not inside the LiveWallpapers.apk) and I don't know how to call it inside the string... Damned, this is gonna be harder than I thought But... I like to be hard, if there are good people that wont mind to teach me or tip me for the answer)) Thanks

As I said before, I need just an advise on how to do-that. I don't need someone to "serve it in golden plate" All I needed was a little hint and you gave it to me, that's why I thanked you. And as I said before, I searched Google and xda but with no success - obviously I didn't know how to "ask", wrong keyword etc.
After your hint I remembered that I read somewhere that not all folders are visible with win rar (for example) and they need to be decompiled in a special way. I searched again and found APKTool, now I'll install it (inside Windows folder, i read) and will begin to learn how-to.
That's the way to learn I think?

Hey guys,
I'm trying from three hours to deodex my ROM without success.
My brain is gonna be melted if i don't get help soon
So,
I've tryed xUltimate v2.4 and xUltimate v.2.3.3
and it goes all well until the third step where i get errors with all the APKs (and I noticed this happens even at other ppl with jb)
i searched and found no other option than the manual deodexing, apart from this.
Anyway, I really can't even try that right now...
Is there a quickyer/less mind-****ing way you know?

Hi guys, I'm fairly new to this but I wanted to know how I can change the list pressed animation style in Xperia U? I mean the white background glow on pressing and holding any list button in menus or tabs or buttons, for example see the following photo (attachments), how the background of the notification has turn to white (fading).
I thought there might be a. 9.png file for that, but when I started searching for in the drawable folder of framework-res.apk, I wasn't able to find it?
So I wanna know that am I searching wrongly or there is no such file and just a xml code which I'm not able to get my hands on because of lack of my knowledge of decompiling the apks. I tried decompiling it by apktool but it won't budge. Also to edit pngs I am using a simple technique (posted by a xda user, sorry for not recalling your name but thanks) that is to just open or extract the roms through 7zip and then just copy them back to the respective apk file. This seems to be working as I was able to create my own lockscreen. So please help me in finding where I'm going wrong.
Thanks in advanced...
You must decompile the framework-res.apk and then, search in /drawable-hdpi folder the image. Its name is notification-normal-bg.9.png or something like that. Edit it with photoshop, and, when you have all that you want, compile the framework-res.apk and change it in your phone. Do a backup before do anything.

First of all thanks for your advice, but as it turns out the Sony isn't using that file?? And also I just did it with my normal method (described before), so I guess it might be a problem that I'm not decompiling it, but as it turns out I don't know exactly how to. So can you suggest me a Guide or something like that through which I can learn to do it without any problems...?? Because last I time tried it, I got a failed app! Please help, thanks in advance...
