Atrix no ROM no root - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I just unlocked my Atrix and after doing so i figured i could just install a ROM and be rooted (I own a Desire and a Desire HD, used to doing this). Well apparently not, so now i have one ROM in my internal storage, this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060064
And it bootloops when flashed. I didn't make a backup of the stock ROM (silly me) and I can't mount the internal storage on my PC without having a proper ROM(?). I've also tried putting an SD card in with something to flash but that doesn't show up in CWM.
Can i flash this with RSD Lite? http://static.droidnetwork.net/1kds/SBF/Atrix/
Would that be safe?
Any other ideas are appreciated, thanks.

Don't want to sound patronising, but have you tried doing all the wipes and reflashing the ROM. I use TWRP on the Atrix but on my LG 4x HD I use CWM and have to mount the system before flashing.
If you are using SBF, make sure you pick the correct one based on whether you have an international or ATT&T Atrix.

Hey and thanks for the response.
After doing a factory reset and installing the rom (it installs really fast) i try to mount /system, it says error mounting /system.
If i flash the international one it wont brick my device right?

Hey one more thing, where do i find the international version? The link i posted only contains AT&T US .sbfs. It won't brick my phone even though i'm unlocked right?
I also have a new problem, i can't charge the phone and I don't have enough battery to flash. When i plug it in it just stays at the Moto logo and apparently doesnt charge.
So basically i can't charge it, I can't flash .sbfs, i can't flash ROMs because i don't have any in my internal storage and CWM won't see my SD card, and my computer can't see the phone so i could put another ROM there.
I'm in quite a mess it seems, any ideas?

Yes, in the main menu I think like the 3 option. Mount USB or USB mount will allow you to mount the SD card to the computer and you can file transfer.
i flashed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501512
and whats the ics RUU? sorry my last android was the mytouch 4g which was much easier haha

The latest ICS leak has new firmware which changes the SD Card mount points (among other things).
When running the latest ICS based roms, you either need to update the firmware or see if the dev offers an SD Card mount patch so the newer version of ICS will work with the older firmware.
I was asking if you installed the RUU because you can't go back to the GB RUU if you did. Since you didn't, mount the card as noted in recovery and use this to go back to a rooted stock rom.
Stock rom - http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=76
Boot Image - http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=77
You'll need to flash the boot image with fastboot like you did your recovery.
And next time, I recommend a nandroid back up before you change roms in case you want to revert back.

[Q] gt-i9100 problem after using clockworkmod

Hello almighty XDA peoples.
I watched the video, I have lurked here for months. I read everything I could on my phone, but I feel like my dilemma is slightly different. If not I would be glad to rectify it.
I purchased an unlocked gt-i9100 in the UK. I now use a Tmobile sim in the US.
After a lot of reading, I rooted my phone using ODIN and CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LQ5-v5.6-CWM5 kernel.
I installed titanium backup, and used it. I put in ROM manager.
I decided I wanted to put a custom ROM on, but I read that a full wipe was necessary so I went into clockworkmod recovery. I followed all the instructions.
Now I can't boot into OS. I can get into both clockwordmod and download mode, but my computer wont recognize my phone so I can't put a zip file onto my sd card. (probably should have done that first huh)
All I want is a normal working phone. I will leave rooting to the professionals.
It was previously running 4.0.4 xxlq6.

Ouch.
Rather dont wipe with the Samsung 4.0.4 kernel they had the brickbug...
You can try reinstall the drivers on the PC for the phone and also make sure KIES is not running then try download mode again else
try take the sd card out of the phone and put it in the pc and copy the ROM on to the SD card that way then flash with CWM.
A SD card reader is cheaper then fixing the phone if you don't already have one....
I can still access download mode and CWM though. Is that a sign of life? I went a bought a micro sd card and have put the rom onto it, which hopefully I can access through CWM. WIll update soon.

Having read the thread about 4.0.4 being susceptible to bricking, I'm now wondering what to do.
I bought a microSD card and put the Resurrection remix zip on it. I can access that though CWM and it's allowing me to update. WOuld it be better to try to downgrade to gingerbread or an early ICS, or have I passed the point where my phone should be bricking? Thanks so much in advance.

Well firstly why did you use Rom Manager? Its not properley compatible with I9100 and can lead to issues like you have if you mess about and try to flash kernel through it.
If you can still access download mode simply flash stock via ODIN and then flash custom kernel like Siyah (version depends on rom version) to gain root, cwm etc.
Alternatively first flash Siyah (.tar version) via ODIN then flash your custom rom.

if you can access download/recovery your device is not bricked. Just do as I said above and flash kernel or rom via ODIN.
I guess sometimes reading doesn't equals learning.
Wait a sec, I already knew that. Reading whole threads intead of OP-only equals learning.

[Q] Odin Doesn't Recognize Galaxy S2, save from CWM?

Hello,
I just purchased my new Galaxy S2 4G from Virgin Mobile. First thing I did was install USB drivers, root it, flash a new PDA and Bootloader from Odin.
Now when I try to boot my phone I get stuck on
"SAMSUNG SII
Yellow Triangle"
I can boot into download and Clock Work Mod recovery and I think I can utilize a external micro SD to recover from. However I can't flash anything else from Odin as drivers seem to be messed up. I have uninstalled, reinstalled Samsung and Sprint drivers, tried different USB slots and everything.
Although it may be a driver problem as the drivers now fail to update when installing them, as it says "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller - No Driver Found"
Anyway for me to force reinstall those drivers or something?
Could I get a stock recovery zip or whatever and put that on a micro SD then try?
Help please and thank you!!
EDIT:
Also, I have no recovery images saved to my SD card or anything like that.
EDIT2:
Kies is installed but none of it is running when I start Odin.
what method did you use to get root?
what is phone information?
we need this information inorder to help you.
If you can access CWM Recovery and you have an external SD card, i recommend moving a compatible Kernel/ROM from the computer to the external SD card. Then go to install Zip from sd card in CWM...and you should be good to go. Oh and remember to wipe data/cache and dalvik cache if necessary.
Consider fixing this bootloop before you try and fix the drivers. No phone, no recognition either way
Cheers.

To root I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
Phone information? It is a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Virgin Mobile. What other info can I provide?
I have an external SD card but I don't think my phone can read files off of it as I get the
E: Can't mount /sdcard/
error
My biggest question though is what is a compatible Kernel/ROM? I don't want to accidentally flash another incompatible one.
Also if I did manage to fix the drivers I could use odin to flash the first root that I used because it worked. That would get me out of the boot loop right?
Thanks mate!
I did not know that even SGS2 4G doesn't belong here, but gastonw is probably right. You should write this in Epic 4G touch forum.
well you could tell me if it's a Gt-i9100 or SGH-i777 etc. You can tell me version... 4.x.x (ICS) | 2.x.x (GB) | 4.1.x (JB)
since there are a large variety of ROMs and Kernels this info could short them down and probably tell us and hopefully yourself if what you flashed is compatible.

Alright, I could make anothe thread in the Epid4G forum.
Also, the model is a SPH-D710, version was 4.04. Also that root I linked was the first one I used that worked.
These problems began when I flashed the CWM (I think) as a bootloader from ODIn and then another PDA.
Also, heres the link to the new thread

[Q] bricked my phone trying to install olympus cyanogenmod 9, help?

hey guys, first post here: i just bought the atrix 4g, got it in the mail today, used the 1-click rooter to unlock the bootloader, then to root. then i installed cyanogenmod 9- i followed instructions appropriately, but the phone hangs at the motorola logo screen at boot-up and does nothing more. i tried re-flashing, fixing permissions, clearing dalvik cache, nothing works.
edit- i installed cyanogenmod9 through clockworkmod, by installing zip from internal
i was going to re-flash stock rom, but i cant get internal storage to mount from clockworkmod (no sd card), so i cant get the stock file over to the phone to flash, so im bricked.
any thoughts/advices? thanks in advance, after not having a phone for near a week, id kinda like to make a call

You bricked your phone, not cyanogenmod ...
Restore a backup, your phone should work.
hm, can anyone tell me, why i cant get internal storage to mount from clockworkmod? is this a common problem?
i dont understand what went wrong for me, when i followed the same steps that many others did.

Your phone is not a paperweight, just not boot the operating system
You did a backup with CWM? restore a backup as Emerson says
You can borrow a sd card copy there CM7 and install from the sdcard
You can also use RDS to install a stock rom
Never install a rom without having an one that you know works 100%
AND ALWAYS READ ALL FAULTS AND SOLUTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING A CUSTOM ROM
ok guys, i went and bought an sd card, clockworkmod mouted it fine, i found and copied over to the sd card android 2.34 for atrix, it flashed fine and my phone is back up.
can you gentleman tell me, whats a good solid rom to flash? cyanogen mod 9 obviously didnt work for me. id like to get started setting up the phone, so i need a good rom to begin with.
thanks to everyone in advance
Go with montouri's version of cm7.2 ,mrom-Olympus you can find it in the developer section. Its my daily driver. Its the most stable and has the best battery life out of all the roms that I've tried
motoxrcr1 thanks for the recommendation, running m-rom now and it runs smooth.
the first time i tried to install it, it hung at the boot logo, then i got to thinking maybe i better try updating clockworkmod, turned out that clockworkmod 4.0X that was installed by the 1-click rooter, is rather old, so i found and updated to 5.XX. tried re-flashing m-rom again, and it worked fine that time.
older clockworkmod, that's probably what caused my original problem with cyanogenmod 9..
does mrom support overclocking? not that i guess i need it, but just to know for future reference
thanks!
the trouble i caused myself, was all due to flashing the rom from an older version of clockworkmod.. after updating to a newer version 5.xx, it flashed fine

HOX+ repartitioned after repair service? (sd card error)

Hi,
after crashing my phones display (in fact it was my girlfriend :cyclops I sent my HOX+ to HTC repair service to replace the display.
After finally getting it back today, all seemed perfect, my Custom ROM (AOKP 2.2.2) was reset - but I expected that. (cleared /data and /cache I guess) I thought OK directly upgrade to latest version of AOKP from maxwen, flashed new kernel from the zip first then tried to copy the rom to sd card via windows explorer - and there was the problem: it showed an 'SD Card' Link but now size/space and just empty. I first thought about stupid windows drivers etc. but I found out that was not the problem...
So I restored my nandroid backup I made before sending it to repair service via CWM. After the restore process finished I found that google play was crashing because the SD card was missing! I checked storage information and found that my internal storage now shows 56GB? I'm not sure how it behaved before, but I though the /sdcard partition is separated from the other space?
I then checked stock android explorer which just gives an error that storage is not available or so. then I checked es explorer and it just showed a broken link 'sd card' in /mnt/.
I restarted into CWM 6.0.2.7 and chose 'install zip from sdcard' and CWM was able to access my sd card without problems... I tried installing an older AOKP version still on the ROM - same errors as above (sure after cleaning everything).
I also reformatted the /sdcard partition but still it won't show up in Android! :\
I also flashed back the old kernel (which came with the old ROM I restored via nandroid) but no change. The damn sdcard link seems somehow broken. It is accessable in CWM recovery without problems, but none of my ROMs seems to be able to access it...
I really wonder what the repair service did... Is my device somehow repartitioned? :\
Help?!?
[update]: I flashed TWRP recovery and tried sideloading a ROM cause my 'sdcard' (or whetever which internal partition it now is) is empty: adb brings an error 'sdcard not found in /etc/fstab' so I am not even able to upload a rom anymore.... ??
[update]: OK I was able to upload AOKP rom via adb push, flashed it via TWRP - still stock explorer says 'file or folder was not found' :\ also in android settings only internal storage is visible...
Thanks a lot!!

Is there something like this here for HOX+?
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/in...ountable-internal-storage-on-the-htc-one-xxl/
This guy seems to circumvent the need for RUU with a self-made recovery image he flashes and then do 'factory reset' from boot loader?

Alright, with the storage partitions messed up I would really advice you as mentioned to flash the RUU , look around on howto depending on your CID, If you did send it to HTC repair service and It came back broken up then I think you should just call them again and tell them? You wouldn't want your phone damaged and just let it go do you?
In the meantime do an RUU, and do a factory reset.
But just to clarify, can you or can you NOT adb push files to your storage?

OK I was able to solve the problem by relocking and Re-RUU the device. After that all was back to normal. Unlocked again via HTCDev etc. and now all works fine.
For the next time - and I strongly advice all others - when I send a device to repair service I will put it in original state by myself. And yes I was able to push the rom via adb push... (just still don't understand where the difference between sideload and adb push is...)
btw: flashed newest stable of Cyanogenmod and now I have the first custom ROM on HOX+ where loudness of phone speaker is not only as good as original rom - but much louder
