Well i booted in safestrap wiped and applied the back up. Now on reboot it goes to the M logo then screen goes black? What did i do wrong and what to fix it? I am downloading some things but not sure what i need to do?

Hi
Try to wipe cache/dalvik. If it don't boot. I think you'll need to flash a stock rom.
What's your razr ? verizon, att, latam...
Cheers
Sorry, i meant to include vzw. Safestrap recovery dont even show up now on boot? So i dont know how to flash the stock rom?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23453478
I guess the title should be changed into "How to flash with RSD" or something like that.
I have taken Screens for an step by step Guide, but not sure if we need an second one. I guess not

That's not my Guide, but it's realy helpful for people that not confirmed with RSD.
So hit the Thanks Button in the linked Thread
BTW: An Factory Reset before RSD is never wrong, just to be clean and save.

any idea why my back up didnt work? would it be due to the bootloader change from the simplex rom? If that is the case ,do you think i can try the back again?
Has anyone had this working on stock JB, I use the nand restore that someone uploaded, then after getting my phone the way I like it ,apps etc I tried to install the chainfire 3D and it just hangs at boot, have to wipe data etc, and restore nand, tried this a few time with same result everytime
Anyone else tried it?
I am aware it says it not compatible with JB but it also says that for ICS and people say it works

Chainfire 3d will not work on jellybean. because all of the jellybean ROMS available are either leaked version of unofficial versions which are UNSTABLE versions. you will have to wait for the stable release of jellybean.
Those are NOT leaked versions.. google released JB sources for public .
Good thread. Was curious but thought it might of been the whole unstable thing.

Chainfire 3D will not work on JB as long as Chainfire will adjust the program, which, as I read in another threat will not happen soon as it is a lot of work (please correct me if I am wrong).
If you try to use Chainfire 3D on JB you will end up stuck on Samsung start screen.
Hence only way to use Chainfire 3D for now is use ICS.
Ics is only option as of now. What i m doing is dual booting ICS and JB. For games i boot into ics and play 9MM n nfshp n for rest things jb all the way

Hi,
just to confirm, I made an attempt to install Chainfire3D on stock JB and as christmast wrote, it ended with a nand restore.
Hi im a noob and didnt read enough into this. I got sgs3 gt_i9300 and on jellybean rooted and made the mstake of not backing up Before installing. As a result im hanging at startup.
Please can anyone help in a direction of resolving this?
Please thanks
you wipe your data in recovery
I though official Chainfire3D support ended with Gingerbread?
It did.

To the people locked out, simply flash a working recovery via Odin, pop a working custom ROM on your SD card and flash it.
Job done

Hey guys I have a Razr V and I know there is basically no support for it on here but having a look around I managed to install Boot Menu Manager (BMM) recovery on it and it seams to be working fine.
Foolishly I tried to flash a CM10.1 ROM on it that is hardcoded to only work on Safestrap ROM slot 1. I can still access the recovery though and I was wondering if someone can point me to a ROM they may work with this phone (its stuck on ICS kernel and I'm not sure if there is a JB kernel I could flash)
This is good progress for us guys with this phone, I think its available in Canada, China and Australia. Anyway I'm trying to get a custo ROM on here and was wondering if some of you guys might be able to help me out.
Would I be able to flash a JB kernel for the XT910? The phones are very similar, but I don't want to try it if it will certainly brick my phone.
EDIT: at the moment my phone is boot looping on the CM10 screen so it is good news we may be close to getting a custom ROM on here, or maybe I'm just an idiot and have ruined my phone
Cheers

What were the problems with the rom you installed. Also to port roms you need a base like cm10 otherwise its pointless. Every custom rom not based on stock is cyanogen based. All roms like miui, pac, etc are all based on cyanogen. So if we can get a cyanogen mod built rom to boot on our phone we can then start modifying it get all the broken things to work once we have done that we can then create a devtree then compile our roms from source. Its a bit backwards but way quicker than starting from nothing.
The soft buttons was an easy fix but the other problems where the SD card wouldn't mount properly. (File manager and storage recognised it but the phone said it was damaged) and the camera force closed.

Hey, I too have a RAZR V, and I live in Canada. For MONTHS I've been waiting for JB, anything higher than 4.0.4, but Motorola is taking their sweet ass time with it.
I'm not very tech savvy, so I was wondering if you could post a tutorial, or a walkthrough of how you flashed CM10 onto your phone?
I can provide any information you might need, please let me know
I managed to get it to boot once but other attempts have been unsuccesfull. I sent RAZR V device info to whirleyes the developer of BMM and hopefully he can improve compatibility.
At the moment the only thing working properly is flashing zips. I've soft bricked my phone several times this week and I'm about to go on vacation for a month so i might try out again when I get back.
In guess the good thing about a locked boot loader is that it is almost impossible to fully brick
At the moment its trial and error sorry, I'm not sure how I got it to boot the first time and also camera and SD card didn't work.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering it it's possible to install the Motorola RAZR/RAZR MAXX (GSM) CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Motorola RAZR V X885?
I checked that both devices have the same specs.
The version that I want to try to install is the RC5. I would post the link, but, "ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages". hahaha
Do u think I will get some trouble with this?
Thanks!

I was thinking exactly about doing the same thing, but I'm concern about using a ICS kernel with a JB rom. We should first try to flash a JB kernel. But I'm a bit loss with SafeStrap. Has anyone been able to boot something else in Slot 2+ ? I've tried to copy my existing system over these slot and it doesn't work. But I guess it has something to do with the kExec thing.
You can't do so. Your bootloader only allows you to install the system with the same signature. It won't pass the signature check to boot unless you backup and wipe mmcblk1p16(cid)

Okay so I am a bit of a noob at flashing ROMs and such, but I really want to do it and get my Galaxy S4 (on verizon) as close to pure android as possible. I tried flashing three ROMs. The first was liquidsmooth got the right zip file and everything flashed it in ROM slot 3 on safestrap and went to reboot and it did not work, it came of with some trippy screen and did not load. I then tried flashing Hyperdrive but did this in the stock rom slot and that worked fine. So I tried doing the same thing with CyanogenMod flashing it in the stock rom slot and rebooting but it came up with the trippy screen just like it did when I tried flashing liquidsmooth.

I'm sure Decaturbob will also answer you but. .
The custom flag/splash screen just means your phone has detected that is been modified. No biggie at all.
And you're not going to be able to load a Kit Kat rom just yet. They are working on a way to do it I heard but for now you're only going to be able to run TW roms based off your current build MK2.
There is no down grading your stock rom either.

That's correct. The phone has an application that scans for modified system files and will detect that you're rooted. Then, when you boot, it'll show an image of an open padlock and the word "Custom" for a few seconds before continuing the boot.
Some people freak out over that. However, you don't have much choice here. If you want it rooted, then you're changing files on the ROM. That's customizing it, and will be detected. If you don't want it to show up as "Custom", then you want a factory stock device.

No. First, it's fairly likely that taking the Kit Kat 4.4 update will fail if you've modified your phone. You'll need to return it to very close to stock for 4.4 to apply cleanly.
Second, if you go to Kit Kat, your phone will be unrooted, Safestrap recovery will be removed, and you'll be stuck with a kernel that currently is not rootable. If you have a Verizon or AT&T phone (or any other with a locked bootloader), you won't be able to root it at the moment, so won't be able to do anything else.
Once VZ releases 4.4, we'll work on ways to get past factory stock, but that's not guaranteed to be successful until we see what VZ gives us.
Edit: And no, once you've updated to Kit Kat, you can't downgrade to 4.3. You'll need to use ROMs compatible with the 4.4 kernel.

MK2 can be rooted - click here.
Once rooted, you can install custom ROMs using Safestrap.
You really should, however, start here as that sticky thread will explain a lot of what you're asking.
Use eclipse 3.0 touchwiz. Almost AOSP
Search upgrade/downgrade safestrap and read and read again. I currently on NC2 and I am debating on trying downgrade but it seems very involved for the couple of AOSP rom that can be patched and used with safestrap and mk2. Still not sure whether I am willing to lose the WI - FI.

Thanks again for the fast reply.
I've rooted the phone and installed CWM on it.
Flashed KK rom and the phone just crashed.
I needed to recover it using RSD Lite.
Then I tried to compare the process to my Motorola Photon's process, and realized that the Razr's bootloader is locked. So how will any custom recovery manage to install a different kernel rom on the device (without unlocking the bootloader) ?
Thank you very much. :good:

Don't use any other recovery except SS and BMM.
I can't explain proffesional but they allow custom roms to boot with the custom (kexec) kernel.
Most people around here are using SS,I prefer BMM but the support for it is discontinued, don't worry, just use one of them.
And read a little before you start anything
