hi. i have a real big problem. i delete a file or install a app and when I re-boot my phone it returns to the old situation. i enter the android recovery and i make wipe user data/factory reset, wipe cache partition after that i re-boot my phone and its going to return old situation. I've tried deleting everything, but still was the same. and constantly having to force close error. how can i fixed? what should i do? my atrix is international and rooted.
my english is not very good. i tried to explain myself to you. if you understood what i wrote, i will be happy.
There was a thread or two about this already. No solution though. Most suspect a dying storage, ie. a hardware failure.
Can you paste links of the threads? Thank you for interest.
http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/1967620/
There were more but I can't find them right now for some reason.
help guys please.
i m working on it
thank you. i m waiting for it. please fix it.
Same thing that happened to my HOX (although there it was triggered by a corrupt partition map caused by a kernel bug, I think. /sdcard and /data are overlapping in the partition map. So much for S-On!) I think the eMMC is toast.
Your atrix emmc died. So far, no solution for that problem.
So how can i fix it? Or warranty can fix it?
(My f*ckin mind. I rooted my phone and i cant send the phone to the warranty. I m so sad. Im crying right now guys.)
I assume that you have unlocked bootloader, CWM recovery and custom ROM installed. When you try to restore your previous backup, the phone back to initial state. Same goes to Gobstopper, fastboot and fruitcakes. All these ROM cannot be flashed into your Atrix. I suggest you just try claim for warranty and persuade the service center. Sometime they accept your phone even your phone has been modified.

No my friend. I have not got an unlocked bootloader. Im on the stock 2.3.4 rom. And just rooted for the nebtop app. Please help me.
I m in trouble guys. I definitelly feel terrible.
I had the original post that was linked to you. Came to see if there was anyone else who maybe found a solution.
In general, I would say your phone is toast. There COULD be a solution out there, but I have tried everything I could think of and anything suggested on the boards.
Sometimes if I leave my phone off for a few days, and I turn it on. It functions well for about 3 minutes, and then bam, starts giving me all sorts of read errors and applications start crashing.
I feel like theres a way to solve this, but I am not gonna try hard to do it myself. Once I can afford a new phone... I will buy one.

Hey, what's up. So, here's the problem.
1. I flashed Void, I didn't like.
2. I flashed the stock rom (froyo 2.2).
3. now airplane mode in "settings > wireless and network settings" won't turn off.
I've tried taking the battery out for 10 seconds and putting it back again to no avail.
Help please!!!! Now I can't make any calls or anything cuz I've got no connection anywhere!!
Reflash the stock ROM

wipe all. try to flash devoid its 2.2 but a lot better.
How did you flash stock ROM? By creating a KDZip(stockrom.zip) and then flashing it? Anyway try to wipe dalvik-cache via Recovery.
1. I've flashed the stock twice
2. I don't wanna go for another ROM at this stage. Getting an error when restoring, and not being able to restore, a nandroid backup is what landed me in this mess, and I'm not sure what other misleading information about Romming I've been fed.
3. Nah, I flashed the stock .DZ.
4. Would my service provider be able to format and reinstall android, or will I be looking at getting a new phone?? Cuz that would suck.

Well, if you keep restoring messed-up/corrupt/broken settings etc., no wonder flashing does not help. Wipe everything and flash a stock ROM, do not restore any broken mess. That is what your provider would do anyway, so no need to waste money.

I did flash shiny ROMs located on this forum over here. I spoke to LG and I have to call them back in a couple. They're gonna get the same phone and we're gonna walk the problem together.
Like 20 minutes or something later..
Yeah, so they said they don't know and I should take it to an MTN outlet. They're not very helpful on Sundays I think.. Gonna take it in tomorrow then
Oh yeah, and i would still like to know..
..if my service provider would be able to restore original Froyo 2.2.0 or if I should consider forking out for a new phone?? .. Or if by any chance LG could restore Froyo bearing in mind that I've flashed 2.2.1 stock and the phone has been un-rooted, or if they'll say hard luck??
Well, as I already said. You still have lingering junk there. Flight mode is not some miracle, it is simply a profile with WiFi/BT/2G+3G turned off. (What can be turned on in flight mode is set in an sqlite DB, so it is even possible to override it).
So, no matter what you have flashed or not, you did that incorrectly. Being unable to switch flight mode on/off does not come out of nowhere.
There is absolutely no need to buy a new phone, your problem is a software one, not a faulty HW. (For questions what LG will or will not do, ask them, not here.)

Thanks ^_^ You obviously know more about this than me, so how do you suggest I proceed if I wish to get back to stock Froyo like it was when I got the phone?? Should I take the phone in to service provider or something??

Well, if you are unable to restore the original ROM properly, then take it somewhere where they can. Does not necessarily have to be your service provider, any authorized LG service can do that, plus lots of unauthorized shops can do it as well (warranty is a different issue here, though.)
Anyway, before you take the phone somewhere - if you flashed something from the thread you mentioned, you probably have 2.2.0 or 2.2.1. Have you tried using LG PC Suite to upgrade the phone to latest version (should be 2.2.2 pretty much regardless the operator/country). Might get you proper flash as well.
Also, CWM recovery has Wipe All option which wipes everything except for recovery.
Thanks so much ^_^ I got a 2.2.1 *.DZ. I don't have the energy to struggle with that anymore so I it took to my service provider and the guy there ordered me a new phone. Awesome of him hey!! At the end of the day, phones were actually made to call, TXT, and tweet with, so I'm through flashing. Time for me to throw in the towel and show it some love just the way it is!!

Hi all. i'm having trouble finding a specific thread to help me solve my problem. (I'm not too good with rooting, and should have not messed with it in the first place!)
Anyways let's get to my problems:
So I needed to take my phone to the Verizon Store, and without thinking went straight to the Factory Reset thing. Now everytime I try booting up my phone it gets stuck on the custom bootup screen and freezes during part of the animation and just stays there.
I have read things that say try going into hboot and doing recovery, but all's it asks me to do is update, then has me reboot. It doesn't update anything as it still does the same exact thing.
My question is, can someone please help guide me through the process of returning my Thunderbolt back to STOCK. I really am unsure of what I need to download, and where I need to put things, and what I need to name them etc: Clearly I need to think twice before rooting my phone again.
Also when I go to plug my Thunderbolt into my computer via USB my computer cannot recognize the device, any suggestions why?
Thanks so much! Really really need help!
First off all it sounds like you have a pg05img.zip file on the root of the sdcard. Only way to remove it now is pulling the sdcard out and putting it in a conputer and deleting that file. Then you should be able to boot and/or get into recovery.
If that's not the case then i don't know what's preventing you from getting into recovery. Although, just a factory reset should not have caused this anyway.

How did you initially Root your device? I assume revo since so many have now. Like mentioned above make sure you check your sdcard and ensure there is no PG05IMG.zip on it. After you have checked your sdcard for that file and deleted it, or maybe it is not there try to get into recovery.
Pull your battery out and then hold Volume down + power. Where does that get you? Hopefully you made a nandroid of your device after you rooted. If you followed a guide that was most definitely recommended. If this takes you to recovery just do a restore.
If you get restored there are some very good guides that Google will lead you to on how to unroot and return to stock.
1Sorry for the super late response, I'm going to try everyone's advice now, thanks so much for the help!
a factory reset will not unroot the phone. If your going back to stock, you have to unroot it. If you bring it to verizon rooted, they may deny you service...
as stated above, just search google or here for instructions how to return to full stock
Hello,
I have Galaxy S2 Canadian Rogers version SGH- I727R with GB 2.3.5. I wanted to Install a custom Rom into my phone for that i followed below
steps :
1. Root with CWM recovery
2. Wipe data
3. Installed this "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1824586" rom through recovery.
I rooted and installed CWM recovery successfully. wiped data successfully phone was ok till then.
after that installed the rom. Rom installation was successful as well. after that i select reboot phone but my Phone never Reboot.
I removed the battery for few minutes then put that back in and tried to start the phone but my phone is dead now. When i Flashed my battery was fully charged. so this is not a low battery issue.
What went wrong Here. Please can anyone Help me. How can i Start my phone again...Please..need help urgently
Can u enter recovery or download mode ?
Thats an ICS rom and you where on GB, you should never flash ics roms on gb

Wave a magic wand maybe??
If your phone is totally dead as you say what do you expect us to say other then get it fixed? You will need to send it away for JTAG flash or mobo replacement. Only thing you could try really is a USB jig see if it forces it into download mode.
Also why on earth create this topic when we have plenty of this EXACT same subject? no need to create another when you can go read them or reply if needed.
i just want to know, what went wrong that my phone is not starting?? i just followed every steps i found in the forum
but after flashing the rom all went wrong..
WITHOUT JTAG flash is there any other way left with the help of software i can start the phone???
Nope. As my learned colleague has already intimated, in scientific terms, your phone is Donald. Service centre or possibly JTAG repair by 3rd party repairer; will be cheaper than having Samsung/authorised repairer fixing/replacing it if it can be repaired this way.

Good Lord.
You apparently know what your phone model is, because it's in the title of your thread.
The ROM you said you tried to install is an i9100 ROM. NOT a ROM for the SGH-I727.
MAYBE you should have made sure the ROM you tried to install was for your model of phone before you did so?
Your model has a totally different SoC than the i9100. That is what happened.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your issue is one of two things. Galaxy S2 phones have something called the emmc brick. It often occurs when flashing a new rom from recovery. Unfortunately it is a hard brick, and is unable to be recovered from. For more details on the emmc brick there is sticky in S2 forum.
The other likely but equally unfortunate scenario is you flashed an improper rom that contained a kernel that was not intended for your device.
The symptom for both of these issues are a phone that does not turn on, as if you were trying to turn it on without battery in. Your best option is to have rogers send it off for repair as long as you remain within warranty period and be hopeful they don't refuse repair or replacement due to voided warrenty.
Wish I could offer you a better solution, and I wish you the best of luck in your situation.
Side note: just a couple comments directed at those who replied with less than helpful responses. Let's try a little to have some empathy for people. Chewing the ops head off for not replying in a pre established thread and for making a mistake and flashing the wrong rom is not productive at all and paints a pretty nasty image on us as a community. Consider for a moment the circumstances surrounding this thread, the op is likely stressing out or even worse panicking because he fears he has ruined his device and all we can do is berate him for his mistakes. Put yourself in his or her shoes.
Thank you.

no it will affect only the stock ICS v4.0.4, that to with the stock kernel's of those firmwares ma8
the OP's issue is mainly because he flashed a rom meant for i9100 on his phone, since both the phones i1900 and I727R have diff hardware altogether
i9100 - 1.2ghz with Exynos chipset and mali 400 gpu.
I727R- 1.5ghz with Scorpion chipset and adreno 220 gpu.
OK. So. I've been encountering nothing but problems since I received my Huawei Ascend P2 phone.
To begin with -
I bought the phone for the sole purpose of it being 4G/LTE. When I got it, I couldn't figure out how to get it, so I contacted Three and was told that my phone had to be 4.3 - it was running 4.1.2.
When I tried to get 4.3 through whatever means, it stopped working.
I tried to do a complete factory reset and now I'm getting many more problems -
I keep getting errors that anything Google related has stopped working (especially Google keyboard).
My contacts won't auto-sync, despite me having my Google account synced up with it.
The icons at the bottom of the screen (back, home, settings/whatever else) won't light up and the home button isn't working.
It's a different loading screen than normal - before it was a Huawei Ascend splash screen, now it just says "Android".
It is not being detected by my laptop whatsoever.
When I try and download anything using a browser, it says "starting download" but nothing works.
So, anyone have a solution? It is driving me demented. And all because I wanted bloody 4G.

I think we need some more info on the attempt to upgrade via whatever means. What steps / guide were you following? Did you install a custom rom? If so, what rom and what recovery are you using? From a few minutes of searching around, it seems that there is no official 4.3 update for the phone, and just being ON 4.3 itself will not automagically enable LTE service as this has much to do with the radio/baseband used as much as the actual operating system and that will not get updated via a custom rom (99.999% of the time unless SPECIFICALLY stated). Seems like they are working on an LTE capable update/patch for 4.1.2 soon according to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50495570&postcount=162 (that post is part of a thread about your phone on a UK carrier so should be pertinent).

Thank you for your reply.
I'll talk you through the steps I took as much as I can.
Firstly I rooted the phone using eRoot, which did work and allowed root access.
I then downloaded P2Tools, which was obtained from this thread and it allowed me to put CWM on it.
Once this was done, I attempted to put CM 10.2 on it, but kept getting a Status 7 error. Some quick Googling later, I discovered this video, which showed how to solve it.
When I followed the steps on there, I kept getting a Status 0 error.
That was when I started to encounter those problems, so I wiped everything I could, even system, but that part failed.
And that's about it.

K. So you are still on the stock rom, rooted, with CWM recovery (which version?), and after you attempted to wipe /system, it failed to wipe (what was the error message there?), and now it boots and has all kinds of weird glitches? First thing to try would be to go back to CWM and wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and then Fix Permissions. This MIGHT help. If it doesn't then you will just probably want to throw a stock rom back on there to get back to running right again.

I've wiped the Caches and Dalvik Cache and can't seem to find "Fix Permissions". I did some searching and it seems this feature was removed from CWM? I'm running v6.0.3.7 of CMW.
When I try to format the system, it says
E:format_volume failed to unmount "/system"
Error formatting /system!
Weird, they did take it out. Koush said it was a placebo. Which normally I would take as law, if it weren't for many times I have ran fix permissions and it caused apps that were force closing to not force close anymore. But whatever, if you wanna try, flash this: http://db.tt/9aWdF8Rp. It'll either help fix something, or do nothing. Won't make it any worse. If it can't mount to format though, it's either or a bug with CWM for your device, or after factory reset, reboot recovery and try again. But you really don't want to wipe /system unless you have a nandroid or another rom on your storage that is accessible.
Thanks so much for your help so far. Took me ages to figure out how to get that file on my phone, but I managed to do it. I then installed zip from recovery mode and chose the fix_permissions. Then reboot and it asked me to root the phone again. It's now upgrading and hopefully it will work now.
It is still saying "Unfortunately, Android keyboard has stopped" and other things. What do you reckon I can do now? You're right, it seems like I can't make it any worse.

Ok. So looks like first thing to check is to see WHICH version of the P2 you have because it seems like there are at least 2 different sub versions of it. The P2-6070 and the P2-6011. Please go to Settings / About Phone/Device and let me know all the software info there.
Also, have you unlocked the bootloader (I'm guessing so since you have recovery, but just checking)?
I found some more info on how to get you back up and running, but want to confirm the system version so everything goes as smoothly as possible. There's a new update that just came out not too long ago that people are saying LTE works on, so hopefully we can get you to that point.

Mine is the P2-6011.
Swear if we get this working, never changing anything ever.
Yes, the bootloader is unlocked.
Alright, so here is a link for the newest firmware for your phone :

Need to be on stock recovery. Unpack the rar file and put the whole folder /dload on the root of the SD card. This has the update.app that should take care of everything for you. Turn off the phone and turn it on by holding Vol + and - and Power together. This is supposed to boot it into the mode to take care of the update for you.
If you don't wanna go back to complete stock, I have another way that involves switching to TWRP recovery and restoring a rom via nandroid restore. If you'd prefer that, lemme know and I'll shoot you the links.

If I ever meet you I definitely owe you a drink. Did exactly as you said and everything (from what I can tell) is working.
It's one of the things I love about Android phones - unless you do some serious damage to it physically, for the most part it is fixable.
So, thanks button isn't enough - you saved me giving up and buying a new phone
*Hi Five* Glad all is well!
But yea, I do this for a living. Seriously. Helping people on here is how I stay sharp. lol

Hello,
Today, I came back home and put my phone on my desk.
I went outside the room for a couple minutes, and when I came back, the phone was turned off.
I thought the battery got emptied, so I plugged the phone to the charger. The phone turned on, but instead of my custom start screen, the default Cyanogenmod screen was up.
Then, I got the "Encryption Unsuccessful" message, saying the only way to recover my phone is to wipe it and hope google backed enough stuff.
Now, I still haven't used the button on the bottom of the screen. I went to the recovery mode, thinking maybe I could back up stuff before I wipe everything.
My question is: Is there a way to restore back my phone without wiping everything? I tried to back everything up to the SD card, but the backup stopped once it reached the /data folder, which I assume, is the source of the problem. Can the problem be solved by formatting the /data folder from the recovery mode? I also currently don't have any clockwork backups, thus I cannot use recovery to restore everything to the way it was.
Please help, I have very important information on my phone and I'd hate to lose it.
The data folder is where all your information is stored. There are many threads where people have tried to recover data from a brick, I've not heard a single success.
You could just try flashing the exact same rom you already had, without a wipe. That might cure any system issues but won't help corrupt data.
It sounds like your phone has suffered a partition corruption or failure.

And what could possibly cause that?
As I said, I didn't do anything special or risky to the phone. The Cyanogenmod has been installed on it for a year and a half, so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there a way to extract some folders from the phone? I tried to plug it with a USB to the computer, but aside from the name, all information is unknown.
Also, will flashing the exact same rom will work? And what do you mean by "won't help corrupt data"? How do I know which data is corrupted?
And as I asked, will formatting the /data folder through the recovery mode will work? Can it cause damage?
I'm sorry for asking so many questions, I'm trying to be really careful with that and I need to fully know what I'm doing.
Thank you for replying.
Try ADB pull or aroma file manager in recovery, but if data partition is corrupt then your data is already lost.

It says "device not found". does that mean my data is lost?
And can you please answer my other questions?
Thank you for your help.
Edit: In case I do have to reset my phone, can someone guide me how to do it step by step?
I don't want something to mess up and get no help or wait hours for an answer.

Take it to a service centre and pay them to help you.
okay nvm, I used the button on the bottom and it did the trick.
I should probably start backing up things more often because right now I use a backup from a year ago.
Thank you for your help.
