I think, without root, you can't view /data, but you can try.
If you can, the sms should be located in this .xml: er /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
Then backup it via adb, reflash your rom and replace the file with the backuped one.
If you can't access /data, maybe you can root/flash cwm to your phone too, if it's bootloped? (Phone specific, so I don't know.)
Good luck.

Connect your phone to your computer, start adb shell and type in su and then cd data
If you can view the directory by typing in ls you should be able, to copy the .xml to your computer.
Sorry for the late reply.^^

You have to open cmd.exe and navigate to the location, where the adb file is located.
Then type in ‘adb shell’.

when i type in adb shell, it says Error: device not found, while the phone was in the boot menu.
Is it maybe because im missing drivers? I googled a bit and now i have the driver i need, its .exe file , what should i do with this file? if i double click on it, i get an error message.

Yes, the drivers could be the problem or maybe (but I don't hope so) the phone isn't recognizable in this mode via adb.
If you're using Windows, go to the device manager and check, if there's a android thing with a exclamation, then refresh the driver of this, if it's possible. Simply via right click etc. (Of course, if the device is connected.)
And have you tried this here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15585507&postcount=2
btw: Your phone seems to don't boot up since a few days, do you don't need it? Another idea is, maybe you can backup all your files via fastboot/download mode or something else, but you'll have to post this question in the device specifically forum, because it's different on phones.
Okay, one more time good luck.

yes, in the device manager there is an android thing with a yellow exclamation. i clicked on refresh the driver and i get the window asking me where i want to get the driver from. since i have the driver in an Sd card, i´ll try that tomorrow.
well, i do need the phone, but now im using my old one. until i can finally fix this issue.
What did you mean with the Fastboot mode? when im in the boot menu, i can select Fastboot, but it wont help much, because it will just start the booting again (bootloop). but i dont know if this is what you meant with fastboot.
thanks

Okay, but you can also let Windows automaticly search the internet for the drivers.
About fastboot, I don't know if you can backup files with this. (Normally you can use this to flash boot.img etc.) And I don't know, how it works on your device, so ask in your device forum.

[Solved] Sticky situation!

Hi,
Without really giving it a second thought I went and encrypted my device. I didn't think I'd be stuck with this rom and/or that CWM would become worthless.
I made plans on selling this one to buy SGS4 instead, when it hits the market and I wanted to do an as proper sale ad possible.
I need help decrypting the device and if possible unroot it and installing the original TouchWiz. I'd be saticfied with a rooted device, as well, only with the original "rom".
Any help is appreciated!
AW: Sticky situation!
Hi.
I guess download mode still works.
Do shouldn't it be sufficient to flash a stock rom there?
I never did this but my guess is it will work.

You can download it from sammobile.com/firmwares or you can google it..prefer the firmware for where you stay..
That ways you'll remove the root and also factory reset your phone..

If you can reach download mode (shutdown phone then power + home + volume down) it should be fine.
Just ensure you're flashing the correct ROM.

Oh right.. And now it's narrowed down to two alternatives! Does it matter which one of the Swedish ones I choose? VDS or HTS?

In general it doesn't matter.
It's just a question of Bloatware.
Think about the CSC as android+carrier-ware.
If you have a backup of your esf partition there is a small file with your device csc.

Help here please, badly needed
hi Everyone,
Im using S3 I9300 rooted with stock rom
I was going through this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1772234) where it showed how to swipe ur sd card as internal memory and vice virsa but required a kernel with int.l something which I dint have .
In order to follow the instructions I downloaded the file; MVLALH1_Insecure_kernel_CWM and flashed it on my phone. then I downloaded the file from the post (extsd2internalsd2_mattiadj_and_infx_6) and flashed it through CMW but my phone dint read my SD card as internal memory so I read more
EXTRACT FROM THE POST:
THE GUIDE
First of all make a nandroid backup!! I'm not responsable for any problem! You make this procedure at your risk!!!1. Format external sd card from your pc as fat32 or extfat
2. Copy attached zip in you external sd. Choose the right zip. If you have formatted your sd as fat32 choose _fat32 version, if the filesystem is extfat choose _extfat version
3. Go into recovery
4. Flash the zip
5. Reboot and....enjoy your memory increase!!!!
I'm on official jelly bean with kernel with init.d support but the mod seems not working or my kernel/rom does not support init.d
1. Flash the mod
2.Install script manager from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...51bGwsMSwyLDNd
3.Open script manager, click on browse as root then ok
4.Choose the file name 11extsd2internalsd located in /system/etc/init.d and click on Script/Executable
5.Now tap on Su, Boot and Save
6.Reboot your phone and enjoy!
[/COLOR]
So I went on the second paragraph of instructions and downloaded the script manager and went to the 11extsd2internalsd file. I was told to select the option script/executable but couldn't find any option having both so selected executable and then selected SU and BOOT and then restarted my phone
Now Im not sure when it happened but my S3 is not detecting my sim card thou my sim is working perfectly and I have no clue how to fix it
please can anyone help me I tried to explain as best I could but still please ask if u want to know more cuz right now my s3 is without sim card

Did what you guys suggested yesterday but what you said wasn't entirely true. Flashing the stock firmware from download mode worked fine, but it actually just put me in an even more sticky situation.
My current situation: device still rooted and still encrypted, only difference is that it won't acceptt my old encryption password. In other words; I can't use the phone at all.
Any ideas to this problem? Is it possible to clear the internal memory and start from scratch perhaps?
Cheers.

Just find a ROM specific for your phone (search xda for desire x) and put it on sdcard. Either with an external SD reader or through recovery. Then wipe all in recovery, then flash ROM and gapps if needed
Then reboot

Long story short: I think i bricked my HTC Desire X. After rooting (succesful) i tried to remove stock T-Mobile apps. They were re-installing after reboot. I did some research and found many solutions, one of them was to install custom kernel. So, i grabbed neXusKERNELv3 and using WinDroid HTC Desire X Toolkit (Fastboot Commands > Flash > System Image) i flashed .img file to my phone. After rebooting nothing happens - HTC quietly brilliant logo, vibration and blank black screen.
One of the solutions of this problem i found in the internet was to install custom rom, but to do so, i have to acces my sd card, which i cant.
I have acces to bootloader and recovery (phillaz touch 5).
Anyone can help me? I'm noob, i just wanted to get rid of those annoying T-Mobile apps!
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English, im not native english speaker.
Update: I turned on the phone and left it alone for some time - after HTC logo and black screen nothing happens for some time and then htc logo appears again, and there is black screen again.

Dude one thing, your phone isin't bricked and you said you have Phiz touch recovery right? You can mount your SD card from there (I believe) then...
Before you do any of these make sure you have an unlocked phone (I know you said it. Rooted and unlocked bootloader), java and hansoon 2000's toolkir (optional, if you don't want to use CMD.) and an updated phone (you should have the 1.25 Hboot by now.)
1. Download a ROM and extract the boot.img to the folder where you have "fastboot.exe"
2. Boot your phone to recovery then mount your SD card from there.
3. Copy the ROM on to your SD card. (Oh you know that.)
4. Reboot back to bootloader and select fastboot
5. Plug your phone to your computer using a USB cable and open a command prompt window (CMD)
6. Type the following codes...
Code:
fastboot devices
Then
Code:
fastboot erase cache
And finally
Code:
fastboot flash boot (name_of_image).img
7. BACK UP YOUR STOCK ROM
8. Do a wipe data/factory reset
9. Wipe dalvik cache.
10. Flash the ROM that you placed in your SD card.
I hope it worked lol. Goodluck bro!
In addition if you don't have card reader
1. Flash TWRP or CWM recovery
2. From recovery open "ADB Sideload"
3. Flash the rom.zip with ADB sideload
For more info: http ://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com.tr/2013/12/ow-to-use-adb-sideload.html
4. Flash kernel (boot.img) via fastboot
Done

[Q] Install a custom recovery without PC and root

Hello everyone,
I tryed multiple time to flash my phone (original ROM) with Odin and other software. Every time the connection cannot be established. I have tried with different computers and different cables, including the original one. I came to the conclusion that Micro USB connector in my phone is broken. I can still recharge but data transfer is not possible.
I have an SD card where i can put a ROM in order to update my phone. But if i'm correct that isn't possible if I don't have ClockworkMod Recovery.
So finaly my question: Is it possible to root install a custom recovery without a cable and without root?
So in oder words: If it's not rooted and i have the Stocked recovery I can't do anything without the usb connector.

I would like both. But at this moment I have no USB connector (broken). So I have some kind of a boostrap issue.
Without root no flashing from device
Without custom recovery no root and no other rom.
You need to look for a custom recovery that can be flashed using the update.zip facility in stock. I'm not aware of one but happy searching.

Thanks for your reply, but if I'm correct I need to have root access. And I don't have it.

Then you have to flash a "CF-root.tar" file with odin. Then your stock kernel will be rooted, su will be installed and also a custom recovery.
In most cases it will be CWM..... ..... Happy Flashing

Sounds great, but i can't find any signed custom recovery... I'm now downloading the whole internet on my PC so i can perform a grep...
The issue is that i can't use ODIN because my USB connector is broken.

Thats r8
But there could or is the possibility to root phones with an "odin root apk" .But i think one should not do it in this way
cause you could break your device....The download mode with an odin program and an USB connection to your phone
is the only way.
Same problem.
I use fiwe diferent cables .I changed the USB port on phone. NO connection to PC. i dont known what do next. I've tried everything. can't conect sgs3 to odin. no posibility root. please help. thanks.
All drivers installed. Kies dont see phone. I try on windows xp windows 7 windows 8 same problem
