I hard bricked my note a month ago so I decided to buy one off of Craigslist that was working and all I had to do was replace the screen. I had an AT&T phone so I made sure I purchased the same model. I took the broken screen out of the phone and replaced it. No broken cables everthing secure but when I turn on the phone the screen is crazydark! I checked the cables and I dont see anything wrong. Help please what went awry?!
Any pictures? How dark?
Ill post them n a sec, very dark can barely see the bottom apps on screen. I know the screen worked because it was from my other galaxy note.
I took phone apart and put back together I did notice that when I hit the back button the very top of the screen is visible. Now however I cant see anything on the screen.

the screen is turned up to the max!
Where you able to solve it ? My Galaxy Note N7000 looks like it has quite a similar problem and I'm quite sure, that it's not caused by defect hardware.
In the case that your still looking after a solution, i have posted my problem here.

Hey guys. I've got an interesting case . Few days ago I was going to work and it started raining suddenly and my Samsung Vibrant got wet. I removed battery immediately and dried for 3 days and started my phone but the screen was blurry.
So I went to a local mobile repair service and they said we don't have screen for Samsung Vibrant but they have screen for Samsung Galaxy S I9000 (the one with the button ).
So I told'em to change it. Now my Vibrant got the look i9000. I attached the photo. I9000 screen on Vibrant. But the only problem is everything's working nice except home button is not working. I9000 got a big middle button but it's not working. Options and Back buttons are okay.
Is it possible to make I9000 home button to work on Vibrant?
they changed the actual screen under the glass aswell ??
why didnt they just put the vibrant glass back
They changed everything except the main chip thing.
the vibrant and i9000 screens are exactly the same, both 4 inch super amoled so dont see why they didnt just put the vibrant glass back on
they only had to unscrew the screen from the bracket and put the new screen back in i think, if there wasnt anything wrong with your glass that made them have to change it aswell
but im going to guess at no because its a hard key and it was a soft key before so they wont be anything on the board underneath to push down when you push the hard key, if thats how it works
if thats not how it works then maybe there is a way
Hi,
I dropped my Galaxy S2 Yesterday (have no idea if this relates to it) But i plugged it into the charger this morning and everything was blue & some of the screen had turned black and some icons had burnt into the screen it looked like.
After taking it with me because it was still usable, Its not completely black except for maybe the faintest part of blue.
Im running Lite'ning rom, The newest one im pretty sure.
Just wondering if this is a virus? Or the screen is dead. I just cant see how it could suddenly die when it was flat and not turned on.
Phones not under warranty by the way. So maybe you could give me some options?
Thanks heaps guys
Probably the problem is hardware related due to the fall, but you could back all your data and try to do a factory reset to see if it fixes or not. If it doesn't fix maybe you should check your screen hardware.
Thanks for the reply,
I just reflashed Litening with Odin 1.85 and still nothing, I get the vibrations, touch lights, sound ect, But only occasionally a tiny little strip of blue along the top.
How would i check my screen hardware? Because i pulled apart my galaxy s after it died and accidently cracked the screen & Glass
How would i do a factory reset by the way? Since i cant see anything
I'd imagine it's dead. I'd take it to your local store and ask for an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. If you can't see anything, then the screen is either broken or it got disconnected (or maybe some of the ribbons did at least).
Yeah, I just dont really wanna take the phone apart unless i know its likley to fix it.
When i first got it, I noticed it had black splotches on the screen in very dim light on a white background. Nd im guessing id have to almost buy a whole front screen assembly to replace the front screen D:.
Would i be better just to sell the phone how it is? Or repair it?
I just noticed yesterday when what looked like jail bars on my screen. I noticed today with screen off or on white background. About a dozen lines going straight down. Is this what people are calling banding?
Just turned phone completely off and still see it. Time to go to AT&T
Note to self. When you get your phone replaced by warranty. Make sure the replacement is looked at before you let them wipe your phone. Went to AT&T store. They saw my issue. We looked at demo but couldn't see it on that one. Let her wipe my old device while she was preparing the new one. She then thought to look at screen with battery out and saw the same thing. We mentioned this to the Windows phone 7 rep and he said he is software only but would ask their HTC rep. (He probably won't) Glad I have a year warranty to replace my replacement if this turns into anything worse. The screen looks fine when I have watching videos or looking at it.
I have the same bars. Only noticeable when the screen is off. I believe it is due to the way the LCD screen works. I believe all of them will have that.
Mine doesn't unless it is super super faint.

I started noticing those very bars on my Samsung Galaxy S II, but I always thought that's my screen protector doing it. I also notice it when the screen is off. Mind you, they only pop up occasionally, now for example they are not there. Go figure.
Galaxy s3 (international) I changed the screen of my phone a couple months ago and it worked fine, last night it fell and now the screen won't display. It is charging, I can hear messages coming through and feel the haptic when I touch the screen but nothing displays. All this even while using a Otter Box Defender. Please Help!
Sounds like you broke the screen again.
no, it sounds like you didn't plug in the screen connector secure enough, just disassemble and verify the connection. if it's good, then yeah, you need a new screen

I disassembled it, all the connectors were in place and everything looked fine. Its so weird cuz there is no physical damage to the screen of the phone. I also flashed this on before: cm-10.1-20130406-NIGHTLY-i9300. I poked around to see if it anyone else was having problems with it but nada, sigh .....
Its easy to test if its software or hardware. Pull the battery out then turn on the phone. If you see the samsung galaxy siii screen at boot, then its software (because this is actually the bootloader, NOT android). If you see nothing, its hardware.

Hello all,
First of all I hope I am writing in the correct section... Otherwise please let me know.
Secondly: Something really strange is happening to my Galaxy S2.
Last year, the glass broke on the street and I changed it manually by buying one from eBay and following video instrctions. This year the touch and AMOLED part of the screen cracked (I don't even know how). This time I decided to buy a Galaxy S4, as I didn't want to "invest" anymore on the 2-year old smartphone, but I kept it. Later this year I decided to fix the S2 one again, and so I ordered a replacement screen (which costed a whopping $105!!!) and changed it. To my surprise, although I checked all the motherboard connections more than twice, the phone turns on, the Welcome Screen (configuration for first time usage screen) appears, but... The screen is unresponsive and I also can't change the volume nor turn the screen off by pressing the lock/power button.
If someone knows something about this problem or how to fix it, I would appreciate a comment with information regarding it to be able to understand what is happening.
Thanks in advance!
B.S.: I don't know if this information has anything to do with the problem, but the first screen I bought wasn't original, as it didn't have the Samsung logo on the ribbon cable, while the new one is original and the Samsung logo appears on the ribbon connector. I wonder: Is this a factory failure?
