The new version of rom will also work with the old kernel, but maybe the new kernel has more fixes... So, its upto u.. If u want flash the new kernel or just flash the rom..

When did cm 10 become 4.2.1
Afaik its 4.1.2
Anyways, you can use use same kernel like Samak said but maybe the new kernel is there for a purpose(like new features, bug fixes)so you're free to flash new kernel
Or just keep your old kernel!
After all its not that old (matter of few days)

[Q] Xperia Neo V bootloop Problem

Hi..I have unlocked bootloader. I was previously on custom aosp ics based rom (4.0.3). Decided to go back to gingerbread (custom). Flashed night-elf kernel for stock rom v9.0 through fastboot. Installed rom through cwm. Rebooted the system. But it just stucks at the sony logo and reboots and the process goes on and on forever unless i pull out the battery.
Tried reflashing the kernel..no use! When i flash the kernel the phone reboots, the sonyericsson logo appears instead of sony. After that when i try to power on the device it gets stuck in the bootloop with "sony" logo rather than the sonyericsson logo. Help would be greatly appreciated!
Why double post?

ok ... I was earlier unable to boot into CWM (which I had installed via xparts) while the phone was boot looping ... I do not know why ...
I randomly flashed Suave kernel ... it was still boot looping but I was now able to enter CWM (comes with the kernel I guess - DoomLord's Full) ...
I restored an earlier backup I had taken ... and now it's working fine ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon8.gif
with unlocked Bootloader and custom kernel ... cool! ...
oh yeah, baby ... Paranoid Android here I come!!!

Flashing Baseband
Is it a must that i should flash my baseband to 72 for ICS ROMs or 64 will be sufficient???
It is recommended for best performance. Not compulsory. But you cannot complain to the dev if you have signal drops etc. It's you not using what the dev has recommended.

nothing to fear, this is something every one faces atleast in the beginning, just flash stock firmware, and redo the steps correctly, if u want a one shot fix, use SEUS and repair the phone, it will do the installation work.
It worked

No. To go to JB from GB, You have to flash 2 things:
1.ICS Baseband
(How.to flash Baseband only: While you select which ftf to flash in flashmode, select exclude system in right box & click OK)
2. JB Kernel
Then just flash the zip with the usual way. You're on JB from GB!
Cheers!
