Guys! This is SERIOUS! EVEN AFTER UNINSTALLING the Samsung Push Service and the other Samsung Utility and also freezing the Samsung Apps using Titanium, the battery drain continues! Nothing has worked. Battery going from 100% to ZERO in less than 3 Hours! Does anyone know what is happening and how to stop this???
I think the only option left now is to reflash the ROM. I was on XWKK2 CF-Rooted which was working great till this damned Samsung Update! The battery is LOSING CHARGE even when plugged into my laptop! I don't know how I'll be able to get my battery back to 100% to reflash the Rom.

I wrongly pressed the thanks button..
Anyway, charge the phone while off for a couple of hours and try reflashing a fresh firmware.. Maybe that should do the trick..

Now all new apps can be installed only AFTER I flash the ROM again. Waiting for the battery charge to go over 50% level so that I can flash the ROM.
Have reflashed and re-rooted the ROM. Looks like it has solved the battery drain problem, will know for sure by later tonight. The overheating of the phone is gone and it's back to normal. Don't know what the problem was yet, but started after updating Samsung Apps. Have frozen both Samsung Apps and SamsungAppsUNA now.
some more users reported that they had battery drain after installing that, i hva no problems however

I have followed your advice of freezing samsung apps and samsungappsUNA via autorun manager.
Prior to that been using Rarity rom for weeks, great battery life, well over 24hrs with heavy use and then all of a sudden after updating some apps (the 2 above mentioneded werent part of that), my phone has started to heat up and the battery drain is very fast (5% in 30mins), before it would go few hours without 1% loss.
Trieed looking at the updated apps but no luck so have tried your advice before i reflash wipe which i dont want to so praying this works.
Even tried flashing different kernels but no luck.
*cheers for the advice, battery life seems to have gone back to normal
I am on CM9 nightly and kernel that comes with it, latest updates always!
And yesterday I charged my SGS2 to 100% unplugged cable and at the morning when I checked it, it was dead! tried to go in download mode, it sayed battery level is too low! and really it drain 100% of battery in 8 hours idle!
Is it possible to fix such a issue?
Yes, by seeing what's using the battery, not by making a new thread with no useful information.

With the amount of battery threads that come up on this site it is surprising you haven't bumped into the routine of downloading betterbatterystats and seeing what is keeping your phone awake. You should also see if this happens on a fresh install with NONE of your apps installed. Completely stock with your contacts synced.
your issue sounds reasonable my device was awake on the 4/29 build, its best to talk about nightly builds in the discussion thread, charge it up and see whats keeping it awake
you wont get help without this

Cyanogen9 is still deep in beta, that means it isn't finished, that means if you have a problem it's because the ROM isn't perfect. Why would you make a forum post about this? It happened once, not even a few times, why the **** would you make a post about something that happened once and you have done nothing to get to the bottom of it? Seriously what.
There are many stable Custom ROM of Android 4.0.x that you can use instead of CM9 'Nightly Builds'....

See this. While this isn't currently a "what's the best ROM" thread, the very nature of your question will result in the same debate those types of threads tend to generate.
Someone could really like a ROM and suggest it to you, and you try it, and you might decide it sucks. Try ROMs out yourself until you find one you like. Don't be lazy.

hello everyone,
I recently find that my s3 which is on LH1 4.0.4 is charging very slow,
so I decided to upgrade it to the latest firmware, hope for some fix.
I upgraded it to LI5 4.1.1 few days ago, but the problem got worse
now I can't even charge my phone! Both usb and the original ac charger.
Anyone experience the same problem with me?
Or can anyone help me to solve this annoying problem?
thanks a lot, and sorry for my bad english

let the ROM settle, 2 or 3 battery cycle.
installs BBS, cpu spy and gsam battery monitor
check which app is consuming more battery
if it is media scanner, there is rescan media apk available to disable it.
calibrate the battery and monitor it.

I`m able to fix my problem. Connected my phone to my PC and it is repaired to me. It was take around 1 hour to check and fix. After that I`m able to format over windows and now everything is working perfectly.
It's about the memory
I had the same problem with my S2 , it was getting hot and the battery life was shorter than norma, i has so little free memory on phone memory,so i deleted some apks and created some free space and the problem solved,my phone returned to it's normal state.i think that was the reason so check this out if it works. :good:

Turn off google now its tracks where you every 20 sec and this eats battery very fast. It will use about 3-5% battery a hour. Also install deep sleep battery saver
Look a trick for saving battery this method disables background processes in settings go to development and down, limit background processes to 1 or 2

Hi,
I have recently (half a week ago) updated my SII to Jelly Bean from ICS. It's fully stock without root. However, I noticed right away that the battery started draining very quickly and the phone sometimes gets hot. Did a factory reset. Factory reset the phone and format the internal SD and remove the external SD. Didn't help in the slightest. Phone starts draining after resetting. I have tried to flash another stock JB ROM (XEU) and afterwards factory reset the phone again. No dice. I installed CPU Spy to see CPU consumption and it says the phone didn't go into deep sleep at all and 95% of the time it was at 200 Mhz over an 8 hour period or so. So there's a wakelock that's keeping the phone continuously on.
At first, "Media" in battery settings in Settings was the culprit, it drained about 50% of the battery. I have searched the web and it's a pretty common battery drain on JB. I did try to disable the service and its battery consumption went down dramatically. But for some reason it turned on again. But right now Android OS and Android System are both draining most of the battery. I have also installed BetterBatteryStats and according to that app there is a partial wakelock called "NlpWakeLock" by Google Services that's draining most of the battery. Last night, around 60% of the battery got drained overnight (80% > 23% to be precise). Which, clearly, is unacceptable.
I'm at my wits end. I have no idea how to solve this and because I really like the new JB features I don't want to go back to ICS (I did a fresh ICS install and the battery drained 2% overnight which is how it's supposed to be).
If there's any information you need to know let me know. Any help is appreciated!
Go back to GB with speedmod kernel is an option.

Do you mean going back to Gingerbread? I haven't figured out what the speedmod kernel is yet but if I were to switch back I would rather switch back to ICS. But preferably I'd stick to JB since I do love all the new features and options. I'm willing to flash another JB ROM without the battery drain issue. However, all stock ROMs that I have tried had the issue.
Do you know of any good JB ROM? I prefer to keep it as stock as possible. I did root when I had ICS installed though.
Battery Drainage is very common in JB Stock

Well repeating other peoples posts isnt helping anybody.
An update. I've installed the XEF update initially it had the same draining issue. However, I've also cleared cache and data in recovery mode and it seems to have solved most of the issue. I've got pretty good battery life now (about 1%/h idle).
But I did find another culprit draining the battery which is Dropbox. According to BBS the processes "wlan_rx_wake" and "h2_hsic" were draining the battery but I've uninstalled Dropbox now and it seems to have solved the issue. I really use Dropbox regularly though. Anyone got any idea what could be causing that?
Thanks for the help so far everyone!

I have always had that feature disabled since I don't want to use it anyway. I have no clue what could be causing it. I want to use a packet sniffer to see what is sending and receiving data but the phone isn't rooted so I can't really do that unfortunately.
Hold on, I'ma freeze it with TiBu.
Test time.
PS: You really need to root that phone.
Sent from...this is not even my S2
I just greenify Dropbox (actually, all apps which rely on an internet connection). Unfortunately for you, it requires root. IMHO, almost worth rooting for, although there's many better reasons than that.
Greenify is almost like a temporary freezing of the app, by stopping all background processes for the app. They automatically restart when you launch the app, and automatically turn off when the phone goes to deep sleep.

Well Dropbox always keeps on syncing stuff from the cloud and that might the real cause You should disable all the automatic syncing and keep it to manual sync as it syncs only on your commands and saves your battery!!

Check how much data is being downloaded. If a lot is being downloaded off WiFi, switch it off and see if that stops your drain. Then switch off Data on your cellular. Just to check which one's causing the drain. Believe it or not, I just rebooted my home wifi router and battery drain issue was over on my Galaxy S2.

That's very interesting. This might just be a good reason to root the phone. So I can use network log or shark to see which apps are sending and/or receiving data. I have this feeling Dropbox is going to be one of them..

Hmm, but I guess that you can't really freeze apps like Whatsapp, since you wouldn't be able to receive any messages then until you turn on your phone. But I'm getting convinced to root the phone again so I'm definitely going to give it a try.
