Hi guys, I have the 02 UK version of the HTC ONE X+
I install custom rom and now not finding any that work 100percent I am trying to get back to stock
Found several RUU files one specific for 02 and when running the RUU it says sending and then error message pops up on the program and the phone reboots.
Any ideas? And it doesnt have to be an 02 ruu just one that works.
My info is

Hi Yeah I have had it relocked and tried executing the RUU but still no luck.
i have the exact same issue. reason is, last time i used the RUU to get back to stock rom, i used the phone on stock rom for a while and updated my phone to the latest build which updated the HBoot to version 3.5.000 but the currently available RUUs are not compatible with the HBOOT v3.5 so we have to wait for the new RUUs
problem for me is that i have sold the phone and didnt want to send the phone out with a custom rom but time is running out im afraid.

So I have to wait for newer RUU to come out for my HBOOT. Thats not too bad if thats all it is.
I have the exact same problem with my O2 UK One +, does anyone have any idea on when these new RUU's will be available? is it possible to downgrade the HBOOT to an older version that will allow the current RUU's to work?
what about ADB sideloading a flashable .zip of the stock firmware? would that work (if we have a flashable zip) or would it kick back an error?
Thanks.
downgrade hboot works only at S-OFF state
OK, is that possible on this phone? it was on my old HTC Magic, although it was hard work!!!!!
no S-OFF at this time for tegra3
Ok, not looking good then, so is there no way for me to get back to a stock rom now? very tempted to recycle the phone and get another one.....

i have a solution for you.
i have a nandroid back up of my phone, you'd need to flash the boot.img in that and then use clockmod recovery to restore the phone to that nandroid and after that flash a stock recovery, relock the bootloader then use OTA updater on the phone to get it uptodate.
it takes a lot more work than just using the RUU, but they arent available right now, so that's what i did because i sold my phone so wanted it to be back to its original state for the new owner
i have the exact phone, mine was locked to O2 as well. i bet you bought it off that guy on ebay for £400?
pm me if you are interested and i will upload the stuff for you.
Found my backup..

I accidentally missed a step when flashing a custom ROM onto my HOX+, and now it hangs at the HTC quietly brilliant screen every time. I know that all I need to do is re-lock the bootloader and use the most recent RUU, but I cannot get my computer to detect my phone to re-lock the bootloader. Is there another way to re-lock the bootloader? If not, what should I do?

This thread is regarding RUU for HTC devices.
I've seen some similar threads but could not fully get the answer I was looking for.
From what I already understand, a RUU updates the ROM, the H-BOOT possibly and updates the recovery with a stock recovery. It cannot do anything that a BL-Unlocked user cannot do through adb or fastboot because the RUU uses only adb and fastboot. This means that the RUU does not (And cannot) update the radio. Am I correct in this?
And if so, what is the point of updating the RUU once you start flashing custom ROMs because they also flash the /system and /boot partitions and the only thing a custom ROM doesn't do is reflash the H-BOOT and the recovery.
And even if you update using a RUU for some reason (Whether it updates or if you just want to return to stock), do you have to choose the RUU that exactly matches your current radio version?
Assume for all the questions that the device is either BL-Unlocked or Stock (But S-ON either way).
Thanks in advance.

Hi, an ruu updates what you mentioned and a lot more. It will do things like change the splash screen, update the radio. and change the hboot which you cannot do with only an unlocked bootloader. It can do those things because its signed.
I had to use ruu's a few times, recently for an hboot downgrade to achieve s-off. Now that I have s-off I can flash any file I want in hboot asblong as its named correctly. Like a splash screen, or a lower hboot version.
Since an ruu updates the radio, it doesn't matter which version you choose, as long as its the same version you have or higher, but it won't let you flash a lower versionWith s-off I can flash any ruu version I want.
ok, so if I am currently running 2.3.4 and htc sense 3.0, does that mean that I can flash my phone with ics (4.0) as long as it is for the right phone and carrier???

now, if I upgrade it through the ruu, is that the exact same upgrade that comes from the carrier? As in, even the HTC update too?
And if it is, is the ruu just the rooted phones way of updating?
Thanks

Yes it is the same update. Updating with the RUU can be used either way (rooted or non-rooted). Just keep in mind that you'll lose root access after updating.

I'm not sure for your device, but as long as the RUU is for it, it should work (boot loader version doesn't usually affect it).
hello, i wanted to know if RUU also achieves S-ON. I need to return my droid incredible to verizon for replacement due to screen malfunction. I cannot see anything on the display, but everything inside works fine.
I had unlocked bootloader using htcdev and rooted with S-OFF running 4.1.1. I am now on stock Froyo thanks to RUU, but I still need to get S-ON and bootloader locked.
So does the RUU achieve S-ON? I have downloaded the forever SON zip file. But I dont know how to flash it using ADB. Can someone guide me.

Hello,
Been going through the threads related to this topic. Phone Specs:
BOOT 1.49.11
Unlocked
S-ON
Shooter-S
Revolution CM Recovery
I tried to update from zip but phone said wrong zipped image. I did a full backup using CM and then tried to flash radio but it failed. I did recover but phone screen goes black and loops. I downloaded YODAS Deoxed and cool ICE and flashed using ZIP. Did wipe/clear cache but now phone is stuck on htc logo.
I did extract boot.img and flash using fastboot and flashed zip back but without success.
Can anyone please advise regarding this issue?
Thank You
Hello fellow EVO 3d user, I read your post and I think I can help shed some light on your predicement. It sounds like your radios are not compatible with yoda and cool sense. Also you tried to flash the update firmware and failed. It's because your s-on and your bootloader is unlocked. To flash radios you will need the correct ones for the gsm EVO 3d . You will more than likely have to flash an ruu file for your region and carrier. If your unbranded just go ahead and use the European one. First you will need to relock your bootloader in fastboot command. Fastboot oem lock. Here's a list of ruu's. Im cdma but I will try to help you http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/. Now once you.find the appropriate file. Place it on your pc and hook your phone up in fastboot. next run the ruu exe. If everything succeeds you will be on hboot 1.53 with the latest radios. At this point just unlock your bootloader and you should be able to run yoda or cool sense. Use 4ext recovery instead of cwm. It's the best recovery. Goodluck.

Thanks for your reply... I used leedroid and was able to boot the phone finally. Problem is I cannot access wifi and I want to return to original gingerbread version. what would you advise? same thing, get RUU from the link you gave?
Will phone be S-On after RUU'ing phone?
Besides if i wanted to upgrade to ICS at this point? what would you advise my friend?
the problem is actually your firmware. Leedroid uses the old firmware whereas the newer roms use the latest firmware.
you should do what Jsparta26 suggests. Run an ICS RUU from the link and you'll have ICS with latest firmware, hboot and radio. You will have to unlock it using a new code after that if you want to flash recovery/roms
And yes you will be S-on after unlocking. for s-off you'll need to do the wire trick.
Just a heads up, if you want to s-off in the future you'll have to do the wire trick. If you want to use the downgrade method then dont update to ICS with a RUU just yet. After your hboot gets updated to 1.53 wire trick is your ONLY option of s-off

not at all friend, this is exactly why we have a Q&A section.

hey forum
i really need some help now. i have a gsm evo 3d unlocked up and running a custom rom (nonsense). now i want to return to stock, ive tried flashing the ruu for several times, but each time it says bootloader version error. so i guessed that i have to downgrade my hboot version from 1.53.0007 to something 1.49.007 or similiar. i just cant get it to work, neither with flashmaniacs way, or the manual way. in bootloader when loading the PG86IMG ist says version older update fail.each time i fail i reunlock the bootloader, so atleast i can use my phone. the worst and most foolish part of me: no nandroid backup. so i recognize my fault.
Do you have the newest ruu.exe for your region/carrier? Once you get it, boot into bootloader, connect to computer (should say fastboot usb), lock bootloader, then run ruu. That should put you at stock.

I'm selling my One X+ and need to return it to stock. I had a search of the forums but most info seemed to be out of date...
I have the latest firmware 1.17.401.3 and my HBOOT is 1.35.0000. I'm not sure if the fact I'm on 1.17.401.3 will cause a problem? There only seems to be RUU's available for 1.17.401.1. - does the fact my HBOOT doesn't seem to be up to date mean I can still go back?
I have installed a custom recovery along with a ROM so I'm guessing I need to find the stock recovery, relock the bootloader and then use the correct RUU? Does the RUU take care of the boot.img or do I need to reflash the stock one too?
I'm in the UK and the phone was originally sim free so no network stuff.
I have a basic grasp of what I need to do but if anyone could confirm the best order to do stuff that would be really helpful, don't want to brick it!
Thanks

are you sure youre on hboot 1.35? If youre on latest firmware 1.17.401.3 you should have hboot 1.40. At the moment there is no 1.17.401.3 Ruu available and noone knows if it will ever be or when it will be. But if youre on 1.17.401.3 right now you dont have to flash a ruu to get back to stock. You can flash the 1.17.401.1 recovery via fastboot and then relock youre bootloader via fastboot command. Your bootloader will never be locked as it was fresh out of the box if you had unlocked it, it only wiil be relocked.
Or are you one a custom rom right now? then you have to restore the backup of youre stock rom, which you hopefully have done before flashing. i tried the 1.17.401.1 ruu to get back to stock a few days after ive updated to 1.17.401.3 but i was on hboot 1.40 and the ruu wont work because downgradeing isnt possible with s-on. but if youre on hboot 1.35 you cann give it a try, no idea about it.

I know I don't get how the HBOOT hasn't changed, but that's definitely what it says in the bootloader, and the firmware I got from about in settings. Weird. I'm using the InsertCoin ROM, latest version.
I did do a stock backup in december, so I'll try that tonight and see what happens- thanks.

ah you are on insert coin thats why you see the firmware 1.17.401.3 because insert coin is based on the latest puplished software by htc and that is the 1.17.401.3 but this is only the rom your system as itselfs isnt on 1.17.401.3 because that would have happened only if you would have updated your stockrom via the OTA Update of 1.17.401.3 and only this will update your hboot to 1.40. So what I wanted to say is that your system and your hboot is still on 1.17.401.1 so you can try to use the ruu which includes everything boot and recovery or just restore your backup and flash the boot.img, the recovery and relock your bootloader and your done
I tryed all that a few days ago because im gonna sell mine too

You need the RUU then. The reason touch won't work is because the firmware is not matched to the OS. This is a common HTC thing. You have to find the RUU that corresponds to your carrier or region as well as being the same or newer than the firmware you are on now since you are S-On. You must relock your bootloader to install the RUU while being S-On as well.

could you help me find then compatible RUU please? I don't know what one id use. I was hoping to downgrade from lollipop but I don't think ill be able to.
ive went back to the os that didn't work with touch and am going to do and ota update, but how would I get my device to allow ota updates again? do I have to put the recovery back to stock as well as relock bootloader or is there more to it?
You'll need fastboot to make sure you are getting the correct version. If you do not have it, get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 then boot to the bootloader and run this command:
fastboot getvar all
Post results but remove your IMEI and serial number.
You definitely can not downgrade while S-On. You won't need to worry about OTAs as the RUU will do everything for you. If you do want to enable OTAs after you get everything matched up, then yes, you would need to leave the system and the recovery stock.
would there be anyway for me to downgrade then? ive tried flashing other firmware and so far I might have got it, I just need to wait for my phone to charge till I know
You can flash an older rom, but a true downgrade with everything matched is not possible while being S-On.

How could I know without knowing which M7 you are using and what firmware is on it? I've already provided instructions for what was needed for additional info.
