Pardon my ignorance, I have seen S2W mentioned many times in the Team Venom Viper thread but I am not able to figure out exactly what it is.
The ability to slide your finger from the back button to the recent apps button to turn the screen on, and swiping from the recent apps button to the back button to turn it off.

THANK YOU!
In viperROM i'm pretty sure you can set S2W for unlocking the device at the lockscreen too
I noticed the name wasn't really said here so yea. I believe its called Swipe2Wake or S2W. You can get it from cubed kernel or viperROM.
My first thought was it'd drain alot of battery, but it really doesn't so don't worry about that. Handy feature if you want it!

Agreed. Ive been getting really good battery on the latest cubed and w/ s2w. Its especially useful when im walking with it only using one hand and dont wanna have to finagle it around in my hand to get to the power button even though I have rather large hands. (DNA + Otterbox = even LARGER)

Just to correct something. You need a kernel with s2w to work. Viper lets you toggle it if your kernel supports it, but viper itself doesn't make s2w work.

I've tried every combination of holding the power button and home button possible and....nothing. Is my Rezound just not working right? I've hunted through all the settings and haven't found anything. I'm stock and not rooted.

tried rebooting? holding pwr and pressing home should work. factory reset may help if nothing else does. I never lost SS capability until I started deleting stuff in titanium, but you are stock so that isn't an issue.
***press and hold the power button down, and within 2 seconds while holding the power button down, press the home button.***
It is a pain it took me forever when I was stock it has to be perfect timing. Just keep trying you will Get it.

I was under the impression that only worked with ICS. GB didn't have that ability.

You are right... just tried it. Worked. Been using screenshot rooted since I came over from the Dinc.
Any guesses on the timing? 2 sec? Either button a millisecond before the other? Do you hear the shutter sound then let go? I mainly get recent apps pop up then the power off one. I know this is a little nitpicky but isn't that why we're here? To obsess over inanimate objects without being judged by others? thanks guys, I won't give up!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Make sure you push power first before you push the home button. It's literally like a millisecond before, but it is power first. Try that and see if it works. Also, did you freeze anything? I know you say you're not rooted, but were you temp rooted and froze something?
It worked! I can't believe it! That was the trick..power button right before the home button. Thank you so much! And no, no temp root or anything (a moot point now). I'm waiting for the ever elusive ics ota before I root (no, I'm not trying to start a discussion about that!) thank you again.

Lol, glad it worked I was one of the lucky ones who found that accidentally so I knew what to do from that point forward. And I was just asking about being rooted and such in case you froze the sribble app that makes that work. But yeah, it's your phone, mate, you root it when you want to
yep, hitting power right before the home button works everytime! thanks! also not rooted here..and new to the rezound. coming from an X the whole unlock/root process is actually intimidating me right now. ive been romming for years now and i'm scared with the rezound. ha.
So I searched the forum and haven't, yet, run across any topics revealing my question, so here it is. With all this modding going on, is there any way or possibility to be able to make the thunderbolt have a native screenshot with hardware keys? Such as, pressing "search" and "power" at the same time and holding to take a screenshot?

Most newer ROMs have it. Press and hold Power, then press Home.
Can it be incorporated to a stock rooted Rom?

Thats so cool!....I did not know that was even possible....I gotta look more into this.
I found a thread somewhere in I think and Evo thread or something that had files to disable the captive buttons and use On-screen buttons.
But I can't find it now.. and I kinda wanted to know if that would work on the Amaze?
Thanks in advance yo'

So far aokp is the only rom that allows that, that I know of. I'll be honest though, I takes too much screen space, even at 36dpi.

Yea theyre awesome but u need something bigger than 4.1 to really take advantage of it.
Will the lock screen delay on AOSP ROMs for this phone ever be fixed? Call me crazy but it absolutely drives me nuts and is really the only thing holding me back from flashing some of these cool new ROM releases.

As much as I'd like to take your reply as inspiration, I wouldn't know the first place to start. On top of that I'm mildly incompetent when it comes to this stuff.
turn off you lock screen if you dont like the delay... i dont use it at all and my device never pocket dials or does anything random.
^^^ +1
No lock screen.
Interesting. I didn't even think of that. Does disabling the lock screen reduce the screen on and off delay?

yessir that's why I posted :silly:
When I got to thinking about it wasn't sure if the screen delay was actually tied to the lock screen. I just assumed it was since those actions usually go together.
Anyway. I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
As soon as I shut my screen off, mobile data turns off.
I'm not getting email or FB notifications because of this and I've looked high and low to find a setting for this, but I'm not seeing it.
I'm not using any of the power saving settings.
Anyone have a clue what might be going on?

It does.
You can use Tasker to do this, Evo. State->display off->mobile data off.
Juice defender does it natively but I haven't seen a rom do it
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
could be a bug in tasker? Is this new for you on rls10 or has it been going on for a while? Anyways, I would try and delete tasker and see if that works, then maybe install a different type of tasker...? just a thought

Safestrap user? Use a different kernel. Sounds like a kernel settings or could be like one of those things that happens after installing a app or editing a certain combination of settings. Dirty flash the rom.

Did you try flashing a different kernel or dirty flashing the rom.
Your sig says your probably on hyperdrive. This is odd behavior for a touch wiz rom. I have seen this on AOSP.
I would almost bet something has gotten stomped on.
Does this happen regardless of toggling airplane mode, or rebooting, or changing mobile network settings?

I am on Hyperdrive - says that a few posts up, too.
I'm on stock optimized kernel on HD - and have ran that kernel since it's been available. I'm not one for switching around kernels - too buggy for me
What I've done is set Tasker to always keep mobile data on when at cell near work. This works and doesn't appear to have much of a detrimental effect on my battery life.

Stock Optimized does run nice on HD.
Honestly I'd dirty flash the rom.
If it didn't clear up, I'd nandroid, back up apps and reflash.
Like you the best I can tell this is not normal behavior on HD so I'd say it has to do with your setup, how it flashed, what you installed, the tweaks that were done, etc...
But you also have a work around in place. I know sometimes for myself I cease to care about what the problem is or what has caused it if I have a viable work around.
I'd say your call all the way on this one.
Or heck if your a flashaholic like me, nandroid and flash something else to see if it happens there too. Eclipse TW 2.0 and Dirty Unicorns are my favorites right now, both running really solid, with exceptional battery life. DU if you like ultra customization like hyperdrive and like aosp as well. I like me some Hyperdrive as well, but those are the 2 that have my attention @ the moment.
Sorry not more help, but that is just one of those weird bugs you could chase forever.

Yeah, the workaround has me satisfied for now. I'm not really a flashaholic, and I like TW too much to even try AOSP. But thanks for your input! It's greatly appreciated.
