Hello guys,
I have been looking for a music player that can go thru folders and able to add a particular song to a playlist that doesn't require opening the file.
Or as an alternative, an app like astro but with a music option to add an mp3 to a playlist.
Ny suggestions guys? Thanks a lot guys.

PowerAmp reads folders (or your library) and can add songs to a playlist by long pressing on the song.
If you want an app that builds playlists on the phone try Playlist Builder.
Mortplayer i think is what your looking fkr

Thank you guys for the replies.
PowerAmp sounds really good. I will try that as soon as I get a 2.2 update..

Thanks for the app recommendation but I can't add playlist with a long press. I will be keeping it though because atleast I can play a song inside a full folder. I am currently organizing all my MP3s and make main folders by genre and inside will be sub-folders of artists, and inside those sub-folders will be the songs. I am also editing the MP3 tags.
Thank you guys a lot.. These 2 players makes me a happy man. =)
If you use Windows I recommend Mp3Tag and if you want to create some playlists with your PC try Playlist Creator.
Thanks for the recommendation but mp3tag has no way to import tags but it can export tags in excel file though. I found a windows based program that is pretty powerful and can import and export, just can't think of the name right now.
Thanks again guys. I have been using mortmusic player for the last 5 days and I love this app even without making a playlist. The way I am organizing my mp3s I probably wouldn't need playlist anyway..
Have you tried Mixzing? I got it recently looking for something that would play by folder, since all my music is meticulously organized by folder even though many don't have artist or album tags of any kind. Most music players split up all my organizing to try to re-organize by album or artist, which doesn't work for me.
Mixzing works great for me, so far. And it goes out and downloads album and artist info if I want it to.
I downloaded MortPlayer to try, too, but I just haven't gotten around to playing with it much.
My mp3 music is organized the same as yours and I want to play music by folders and sub-folders. Mp3 tags just doesnt work for me. I played with mixzing before with my HTC evo but never really satisfied with it hence why I was still looking. Atleast for now, mortplayer is keeping me happy.
Good afternoon folks, I'm just curious if anyone can assist me with a quick question/issue I am having. I have done a search for my answer previous to creating this thread (and registering even), asked elsewhere etc, but didn't and couldn't really find anything pertaining to my exact problem. Of course, I may have missed or overlooked it, and if so, I apologize.
First, my phone and what not. (if more information is required, I'll provide)
LG Optimus One (LGP500h)
Rooted - Gingerbreak v1.20
Have tried .mp3 and .ogg with same results.
What's happening is; I've created my own ringtone(s) and am trying to have them separate from my music, but no matter what instructions I follow the custom ringtone ALWAYS appears while listening to the music I have on my phone. eg: when I walk my dog listening to an album, my ringtone lists as a music track and plays as one.
I have tried the numerous tutorials out there for doing this:
- create separate ringtone/alarms/notifications folders on the SD card
- create the above as sub folders within the media folder on the SD card
- create the above as sub folders within the DCIM folder on the SD card
- create the above as sub folders within the Sounds folder on the SD card
All of the above locations allow me to use my custom ringtone no problem, BUT when I listen to the music I've added to my phone via the stock music player, my ringtone plays as if it was a song, so I get a 30 second ringtone in the middle of an album. It's not really a big deal if I keep my custom ringtones limited to one, but it does get a bit annoying if I want to add several custom ringtones.
I'm curious to what I am doing wrong here, or if this is just the cost I have to pay to have a custom ring tone - I've searched all over and haven't found a solution, nor found anyone else having this same issue which leads me to believe I am doing something incorrectly.
I'd prefer to not use an app that downloads music for ringtones, as I am a musician myself and have created my own, so I'd just like to use the one(s) I create and not have them appear as music tracks.
Thanks in advance for any insight or help.

I'm not sure about any fix for the issue. But I think if you use a 3rd party music app like PowerAMP, you can select where you want the app to scan for media. You can exclude some folders for scanning. But if you prefer the stock app, the you can have a workaround: Create a playlist with all the albums except the ringtone album (categorize all the custom ring tones under a single album). This way you can always play the playlist, which will not have the ring tones album.
Try it and see if it works!
Thanks for the quick reply! I feel kind of silly now that I never considered using a different player, or even making a playlist as it seems kind of obvious to me now. I'll check out some music players (like PowerAmp) and will post again if this solves my problem.
Again, thank you for the quick response.
Under Sound Settings and Phone ringtone, I remember it created a Ringtones folder on my sd card. Then I would put my custom ringtones in that folder. I would never hear it when I was going through my music. I am also using PowerAmp and it scanned only the music folder.

Try it. It's a very good app. But personally I don't like it because of its UI. I prefer the simple, clean stock music player.

Unfortunately I didn't have the same results, and had to create my own.

Thanks gkarthik16, your suggestion seems to have solved my problem.
I also liked the stock player, but not enough to have to deal with my original issue. I tried out a couple free players very briefly, and although I'm not sure about PowerAmp's U.I just yet, I'm going stick with it for now and see how it works out and consider purchasing the full version. I imagine I'll get used it for my needs.
Thanks again.
Hello all,
For the Google Play Music app, I know you can pin albums and playlists to your device so you do not have to stream them.
Is there anyway to simply pin all your music? Instead of doing each album or playlist individually?
Thank you.
Bump
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Use a playlist
In the Web version Create a playlist with all your songs
In the App swipe to playlists and long press that play list to pin all
However its very slow doesn't keep the connection alive when the phone goes to sleep and puts the files in a folder where only a few other music players can see them

Google music is working in India???
can someone tell me how you create a playlist that contains your entire library? Hoping there's a better way than dragging every album/artist into the playlist.
Thanks!
Sorry for necroposting a little, I came across this thread while trying to accomplish the same thing, but dragging and dropping hundreds of songs onto a playlist didn't sound nice.
The easy way to go about this is to go to the Google Play Music web interface, go to My Library, and hit the "Shuffle My Library" button. That'll put all your music into the Queue, which you can open from the icon on the bottom right of the interface or from the side menu, under "Auto Playlists". Open the Queue, and hit "Save Queue", which will add all the music to a single playlist. From there, you can open up the android app and pin that playlist.
Hope this helps!

Hey all,
Im trying to find a way to organize my songs somehow.
I would like to separate my music into to categories or folders, one for rock and one for country and then be able to pick either country or rock from my stock Htc music player.
I can/have hooked my phone up to my comp, created 2 folders and organized my songs accordingly. The problem is when I start up my music player the player does not recognize the folders and just gives me a complete list of songs on my phone.
Sometimes I just want to listen to rock and other times, chill out to some country. If I had the ability to pick a gene/folder within my music player, then I could just shuffle all songs within that folder only.
I have not been able to figure out how to make the phone/music player recognize folders
Can anyone steer me in the right direction?
Thank you,

I do believe you can set up playlists and just pick that from the music player, otherwise find a music player that does support them.

I have tons of songs for each gen. It would not be worth it to hand pick the songs, way to time consuming. Its quicker to just skip songs, that is what I'm doing now, Hoping for a much better solution.
Thanks for the input
Try this

Sounds like that might work, Im going to give it a try
Thanks
Although not folder sorted, separation by Genre is sort of built into the MP3 standard, you just have to add the appropriate Genre tag to the files. There are multiple programs for Windows/Mac/Linux that can edit MP3 tags on single or multiple files at once. Then you just need a music player that can sort and play by Genre, like Winamp, PowerAmp, Fusion, N7, or most full-featured players.
You can also use an app like this to make playlists based off of what songs are in what folder.

Hello to all.
As the title of thread says i am looking for a music player for my kitkat android phone. I would love a few suggestions from you guys. The basic three functions i require are
1) Custom Playlist: I should be able to make playlists.
2) Custom Selection of folders: I do not want it to scan all my device memory and put every audio file in the playlist. I should direct it to the folders i want to be auto scanned and updated each time i add a new song in that folder. Each Playlist will have different folder set in its settings for songs. (Reason: i have different types of songs like sad, party etc in their named folders. So i want to direct Sad playlist to play songs in folder Sad, Party Playlist to play songs from folder Party and so on.
3) This one is not very important but it will be good if it look beautiful and with a lot of functions.
Thank you. Please give some suggestions.

Well if one of the playlists can be password protected then it would be just awesome.
