Hi gang,
Been here but q u i e t for a long time LOL. I have been using my G-Tablet for a bout 3, maybe 4 years without any real problems, and used the forum's info to update about 2 years ago.
Now for the Problem.
My Battery is lasting only 2-3 days now when it used to last 2-3 weeks. I use it maybe less than an hour a day, emails, news, etc.
I am proficient with hardware (soldering, troubleshooting, etc.) and want to replace the battery instead of getting something new as this tablet is and always has been, fulfilling my needs.
I cannot locate any battery supplier that I can purchase batteries for this tablet from! Does anyone know where I might procure any?
It would be nice if I could get a better battery than the original, but if that's not available, anything will do!
Thanks for a ll your previous techs and tips, ROMs and fixes! Hoping to get more info on this.
Aloha !

After seeing a few new threads start up recently, it was interesting to see how different users have explored the boundaries of TG01 and got the maximum out of it!
I was surprised at certain things this mighty beast can do! I am opening this thread with a hope that we will get more input from TG01 users in terms of what can be done using TG01! May be other users like me will benefit now and in future by knowing that there is no limit to surprises TG01 brings
So question is simple with simplers answers:
What do you use your TG01 MOSTLY for? Please vote for the options and if I have missed out something as 'the most common' act on TG01, then feel free to add comments!
Please can I also request anyone who does something different with their TG01, to post links so that other users could try it and share their views too?
PS: Keep this thread fun but full of information!
Please ADD this to your signature and brag how cool your phone is!!
TELL THE WORLD WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR TG01 please VOTE!
*bump*
37 views and only 1 vote!! come on guys, share how good your phone is!
i have already voted nice thread!
Reading, of course!
One of the thing that every day I do with my TG1 is...reading. I've already read a lot of e-books anywhere..if I'm waiting, on a cue...my book is ready to keep on reading from the last paragraph that I read the previous time.
I had installed an app called µBook, but few days ago I discovered Freda, an free EPUB (and other formats) reader that suits perfectly in our TG01
You can download the last version from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-freda.html
Good thread!

I love e-books myself, but I couldn't read them on TG01 as I always thought you end up buying and spending lots (I tried B&N) - I am downloading the one you suggesting, it might make me the most happiest and complete TG01 owner ever!
If you know any more TG01 owners, please ask them to come forward and share more so that we get more out of this beast
Thanks

I was a bit unsure if mods would like it !
Mate, if you know more TG01 users on the forum, please ask them to vote and share so that we get more out of TG01 from everyone's experience. This might even reveal what sort of tasks are best performed on TG01
It's really good to see from the votes so far that, Browsing on TG01 is what is done mostly!
Considering the complaints of battery drain and crappy IE that comes with TG01, I am sure most of us have ended up using faster browsers and better batteries!
Anything worth sharing to have better browsing experience on TG01 guys?
I do something more than this! (please post a comment and share)
Yes it help me to progress with ROM dev and in english ... of course !!!
Good thread man !

Thanks a lot
It is getting more useful and informative as we get more votes!
Already we know that it works as a great device to browse! So many people use it for browsing..
and many votes for 'I use it for something else' too, but only 2 users mentioned some useful info for us. I wish we will have more ideas for tg01
Most of us still use it for browsing - inspite of claims of bad battery life!
I think it's because of amazing speeds we get with Snapdragon?!
I presume we use Opera/SkyFire/IE - any other browsers you think can work better on TG01?
Hello Everyone!
I am writing this post in most of my threads so that everyone is well informed. I am not sure if you will get annoyed to see the identical post in more than 1 thread. The only reason being, I want everyone who visits particular thread to know that I am going to be a rare visitor on TG01 forums from now.
As you might all know, I went on 3 weeks holiday (it was AWESOME!) only to find out that Orange had sent me a letter confirming that I should F***O** and they won’t be interested in either paying repair costs/ offering replacement handset/ offer any sort of money back for the malfunctioning TG01(s) (6 replacements to be precise) they have supplied me since January 2011! Since last 5 months, I wasn’t able to develop or help with roms/themes as I din’t trust my phone’s behaviour (it froze randomly making hard to know if it’s rom/theme doing it or actual phone). However, I have tried my best to help out in forum and also with beta tests.
My TG01 is now officially in coma. It doesn’t last more than 5 minutes without restarting. This has annoyed the piss out of me and I was helpless financially. However, I have managed to sell this TG01 for spare along with few old WinMos and Symbian phone to get me enough money to buy a brand new San Francisco (the cheapest option out there for smart phone at the moment!)
So, to keep the story short, all these threads, might not see any help at all from me in terms of development. I will still be willing to help anyone and everyone (whatever can be done without a TG01). If anyone would want to use any of my work so far – please feel free to PM me and I will happily share ROMs/THEMES/files etc that will help you to carry on the projects further.
It’s been absolute charm being a part of this forum and will miss it! I will be around in San Francisco forums anyway, so drop me a PM if you ever think of me
Long live TG01 and WinMos
(already saving up to buy new WP7!)
EVC4 Development System
I use the TG01 as a software development platform for a GPS application - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117192
I'm still using EVC4 as it's simple, effective and free. More modern tools are too complicated for my simple mind, and seem to produce enormous slow applications.
I had to produce my own SDK using Platform Builder, but now find this works on most ARM devices; although it grizzles a bit, it gives full source-level debugging. It does mean I have to use XP for development - has anyone got EVC4 to run under Vista or Win7?
I like the TG01 as it's fast and has a big screen. I think it's virtually unusable as a mobile phone.
How are the beta testers doing today? Are you feeling like you paid $500+ to beta test the prime for Asus/Nvidia/Google? Well me too!!
At this point, I have been through several firmwares that have both broken and fixed specific issues that I have run into. I just want things to get resolved with every new update, that is not the case currently.
I am terribly frustrated after giving my beautiful prime to my dad to see how amazing this tablet is, only to have him give it back a few minutes later after several things he tried either crashed, or did not respond to input at all!
This is not the first time I have given it to someone who wanted to be wowed-- and wasn't!!!
After trying really hard to remain an Asus fan through all of this, I am starting to feel like just an unpaid beta tester.
I know that Asus is trying really hard to make it's prime the device it was promised to be but I am getting less convinced by the day that we will ever get this.
I am not claiming that Asus is entirely at fault, but ultimately, it is their product and their decisions to use the hardware and software that they did- as well as to make those components work together properly.
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I GET FOR BEING A BETA TESTER!!!
We should all be asking this question of Asus at this point. Even those of us who have had decent experiences with the prime have still run into issues....
(yes, even demandarin has had issues despite professing his undying admiration)
Get a refund...
Sounds like you have a defective tablet. Your post is unlikely to be well accepted for two reasons. The first is that you're not disclosing what you've done to resolve this issue for yourself. The second is that you've only come here to complain rather than obtain help for yourself.
Aye, really didn't need another thread about a four month running old joke.
Yes, a lot about the Prime's life up to now has sucked ridiculously hard and there are some very obvious issues with ASUS in general. But they haven't abandoned anyone (maybe Italy and Greek with the GPS dongle) and, as mentioned, you'd likely succeed in getting a refund if you're really not happy with the device; then you really almost did get to beta test for ASUS because you've used the hell out of the device and come out no poorer for having the opportunity after returning it to them.
Good luck with your Prime adventures, sorry it's not working out as well for you as it is me. Yes I experience some issues (especially when I'm dumb enough to blindly update), but nothing so far has stopped this thing from wow'ing everyone around me.

I want to know how it is possible that the tablet is defective when everyone(even those who say they have no other issues) have issues still. And I have been here since the launch trying to get help for my poor prime(mostly reading the helpful posts since I don't have a lot of time to post myself).
As for issues, I will cite the games that will no longer work properly after the .21 update, also the touchscreen issues(without root and calibration), and the overall lack of real system stability, force closes, browser freezes, stutters when opening apps, browser scrolling is crappy at best. Wifi--- should I even mention the fact that no prime I have ever worked with maintained a reliable wifi connection. Frequent forget/re-learn or disconnect/reconnect required to get it back!!
Maybe coming off a fresh reset, it is snappy, but it lags after using it for a small period of time. I have used 6 primes at this point from b-c up to #3 and none of them were without these issues.
In addition to all of that, I was looking forward to unlocking (not partial unlocking) and anticipation of some rom play. I refuse to unlock, obviously unlocking without allowing the proper recovery methods is not wise at this point.
I don't want to find out that my favorite hardware maker is not up to the task, and had some renewed faith with the GPS dongle, but I am really having a hard time. I love the prime in idea, but the device itself has not lived up to the promises and I just want them to do something more than an ugly add on to an otherwise beautiful device to resolve the months of frustration that so many have had. It does address the GPS issue, and I appreciate that they did address it, BUT that does not make up for the other issues that even the good primes have.
Show me a "good" prime and I will show you why it has issues, and you will be sad too. I have done this with 2 different owners who said theirs were "perfect". They were just not using the device to do the same things and assumed everything was working properly.
If you don't want to "Beta test" a product that costs so damn much, shut the **** up and buy products that have already been on the market for enough _years_ (and I mean like > 5) to be fully beta tested instead of something shiny and new.
Guess what? This isn't an Original Droid or a G1, it's a new device. Live with it or return it for a refund 'cuz this isn't a place for whining.
Now back to your regularlly scheduled beta tests....
Spidey-- apparently you don't have a very good grasp on what a beta tester is, and the cost was never the issue-- it was that there was a cost at all to beta test a product!!!
Beta Tester: someone who tests a product before it is released. Product testers help companies identify weak points in their products which could cause consumer frustration, and they also identify specific issues which need to be corrected before a product can be released. Typically, beta testers test several incarnations of a product, until it is deemed ready for release. Most commonly, beta testers work with electronics and software.
SURE SOUNDS LIKE ASUS NEEDED SOME OF THOSE GUYS... and never found them until they released the device to US, the unwitting consumers.
To be clear, I would not have minded being one of those beta testers, but we should not have had to pay so damn much for that honor.
btw spidey, stfu? really? Is it really that under your skin?

Jordanmw, I know how you feel. I was feeling the same way when I had my prime. Just return it pal you'll feel much better with no regrets. I'm done after trying two but major props to you for sticking with them and went through six (6) and still not satisfied.
ps. these fanboy's I'm telling you, LMFAO.
Crazy, my tablet and the three friends who also bought one all work perfectly!

I am actually a fanboy myself, that is why this is so frustrating for me. I did not RMA 6 times or anything but had 6 different ones, each for a week at a time- used as my personal tablet. It was for work-- I still have my personal one that I bought back in the beginning of Feb. C0 serial. That is the one that I bought for myself and all the others are being used by company users. Two of those have been RMA'd for different reasons and came back with the exact same issues that they were sent for.
Cool story Bro!
Okay, we really don't need another one of these...
OP, please search the forum first. There are plenty of other threads where you could have expressed your feelings.
Closed before this produces any serious issues among the users.
Hello guys,
first of all I want to say I'm new here but I already read a lot of stkuf and threads here in this forum so I just wanted to say first that this is a incredible forum. You helpöed me a lot of times already, thank you for that.
But the reason why I am registered now is because I have a "problem' I could not find a solution for yet.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (it's I think now two and a half years old) and I use it with Cyanogenmod since two years.
My WhatsApp account run out about a week ago so I did not used it since then.
As I made a CM-Nightly Update yesterday, my Account now lasts until the 27th February 2014 without any reason I could imagine.
You see, it is not really a problem for me because now I have some extra time to pay the amount I did not payed yet, but it is some kind of fascinating. Can you imagine and tell me what happend there?
Thanks, Markus
P.S.: Sorry for my (bad) english, I'm not a native speaker.
Hi Guys,
Calling on some expert advice here.
I am a bit of a whizz on the PC/Laptop but i have decided to test myself and go for the next gen of Electronics with a Tablet.I have never used a tablet before so i am finding out new stuff everyday and learning as i go on.I've only had the tablet a couple of days so i have been pretty much focused on downloading all the apps I am going to use, and also customizing the lay-out as to how i want to set them up.
I haven't come to a point yet of uploading music/pictures as I was going to wait until i get my SD card through before i start clugging up the memory on the device with these type of files.
What has become apparent to me is that the Volume isn't really as great as what I anticipated it to be. I have done some research this morning, and i see many people are echoing my faults. I just wondered if there are any Android/Samsung users out there that can recommend any apps to get the best out of the sound on the device, or could my tablet have an issue with it?
I have bought the device 2nd hand off Cash Converters, but the device itself is spotless with not a mark on it so it looks brand new, what I do need to establish, is the volume generally low and if the answer is yes what ways are around it.
Thanks In Advance
Ricky

well..this is the tab 1..10.1 forum. you say u have a tab 2. so look in that forum. but i would say the answer will be about the same.
root it and pick an audio mod from that forum u like...i run viperaudio on my phones and tab..but there are others that work well.
(running KitKat) I received this for my birthday, and was advised by Linux tech friends to come straight here, greets everyone.
My goal with this tablet is to watch tutorials and grab faster bandwidth for uploads and downloads when in range - nothing too exotic.
I'm hoping to persuade the goods out of anyone familiar with this. If it's TOO bad there's time to return it, but my real concern is just battery life and if a ROM can help it to OTG while charging at the same time, or alternate means to power it if I go camping or am away from power.
All I've done in the meantime is disabled apps I know I don't want, and rooted it for a while (Kingo Root) just for AppFreeze but ditched both.
Any and all info and comments, even bad ones, are really appreciated! I have decades on Windows Mac and bits and pieces of Linux. No Android but I can find my way around.
Was this worth buying?

I definitely think it was worth buying. It's fast and has a nice screen for not being HD. I was in a bad accident a month ago and my mom bought it for me to waste time in the hospital and skilled care facility. I haven't found any roms for it yet, I just opened a thread about that.
Sorry I don't have any more info for you, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure.
First of all I hope you recovered well - I hadn't logged in here for ages. Super nice of your mom to get you one in your time of suffering and recovery.
Lately I've hoped this could upgrade to at least Android 5 because of an app that would allow me to use the tablet as a remote control for the audio workstation Presonus Studio One.
I emailed the G5 people (they seem gone now) who told me they didn't have a ROM to upgrade the tablet.
Any upgrade is better than where I stand with Android 4.4. Nothing that matters runs on it and the tablet sees wasted with no use.
