TV out on cm7

Hey guys I recently got a 32 inch flat screen which has an HDMI so I wanted to see photos and videos on my phone on there but I don't believe much has happened with TV out has it

If you have a ps3 hooked up to said tv and its (the ps3) on your home network you can download imediashare from the market and it will allow you to use your ps3's media server to display any photos and some movies that are on your phone wirelessly through your network. I believe an app named allshare will also work, this may also work if you have an xbox instead...I'm not positive b/c I dont own one but I believe they have media servers on them also, or if your tv has internet access and us hooked up to your local network, in that case it will work as well. But for me when I want to see pics on the big screen...i turn on tv, turn on ps3 click a few buttons and viola! Pics on the tv! I know its not the same as the tv out mod but either way if you have all those components whats the worst that happens...you download an app...dont like it and delete...no harm, no foul! Hope this helps!

Not a ps3 my TV has a USB spot and when I try to display what's on my phone it wont show

I believe what you are looking for requires taking a couple different cables and modifying them to work...a far as I know the original usb cable that come with your phone does not have the pin out required to transmit video directly via usb. I remember reading something about the tv out mod a while back but I dont remember if they had any luck with it working...search the forum...i believe it was titled "tv out mod" our something like that but its not going to be as simple as plugging in your usb cable into the tv and having it pop up on the screen...i wish I had more info for ya but hopefully someone will chime in with some relevant info for ya.

It sounds like you're trying to get your TV to read your phone as a mass storage device. Kinda like a flash drive, but I don't know if your TV could detect the phone like that. Try plugging in the USB cable between the phone and TV, then turning on the 'mass storage' mode on your phone.

I did attempt that and it wont read it

-Do you have an xbox or ps3 hooked to this tv?
-do you have wireless internet where the tv is?

[Q] Dock with external HD

Is it possible to use an external hard drive with this? Was thinking it would be a great to dump photos, etc to more quickly than using WiFi or MTP.
If so, what do you have to do, and do you need ext3/4 file system?
Thanks!

I'd like to know this also. I have a 1T external with all my media on it that would be very useful in long road trips or overnight stays for the kids.
Haven't done so with the 201 but an NTFS drive connected to the USB port on the 101 dock worked well. No reason to think it wouldn't do the same with the prime.

Oh hell yes!
I have the dock and I have the 1T external hd. I have done what you've asked about and it makes it so much easier than running it through the laptop or a pc. Just plug it in and copy/paste.
I mean, unless I don't understand what you are asking.....you don't need to do anything. the tablet is recognized as a drive, the external is recognized as another drive. I also have and micro sd drive inserted so when I went to File Explorer I just copied and pasted. Books and movies mostly. Most of my photos live in a cloud, so does my music. Of course I'll make some of that avl' offline.
Ok, how did you get it to recognize it?
I have a 1 TB Western Digital USB drive and it powered up, but it didn't do anything. I went into storage and it it didn't see it.
Have you tried using it on a "main" computer and access it via Samba, or hooked up to your router as NAS?

Nevermind. I see that it just works. It didn't come up the first time, but reattaching worked.
It's mounted under /Removable/USBdisk1, next to the MicroSD card.
Works like a charm... Plug in the disk and you can manipulate the files and folders with just about any File Manager on your Prime. I actually like the Asus file manager quite a bit, though use ES Explorer also. I only have Windows file systems on my Usb Hard Drives, so NTFS and FAT32 will be just fine. I've never timed it, but I would guess that copying a GB takes a minute, plus or minus.

Ok, I'm curious.
I've seen this in kernels for phones where CIFS support is included, and I'm guessing you're alluding to that here as well. How do you actually use that with an Android device?

I have ReadyNAS, and can view into it at any time with my phone. I figured that there would me some version of "Connected Media" app for this device. Maybe there is something available on the market that can stream media?
I know with the stock HTC music app, I can listen to music streamed from my NAS.

Worked with an NTFS formatted 1TB Toshiba HD under both Honeycomb and ICS.

um, have you looked at MyNet ? I don't have a NAS and I may be off base, but I think that app looks at everything on the network. I think (?)
So those are Windows apps?

Samba Sharing the MicroSD

I'm using samba shares to do file transfers from my prime to computer and vice versa, however is there a way to set it up so I can access the MicroSD as well and not just the /sdcard directory? Thanks!
Samba filesharing has an option for second shared folder under other fileshare settings
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium HD app
Hey thanks for the reply. Yep, I've seen that, but I'm not sure how to access that second folder if I select it. When I start the share on my computer, it still only shows the internal card...

On mine when I access the device using \\ANDROID or \\<ip address> I have two shares:-
sdcard (internal storage)
share2 (mircosd card)
Have you disabled the service and re-enabled?

Mounting an external HD no root

Okay so here's my problem, I hame an xperia tablet S and a dock hooked up with hdmi to my TV. I want to hook up my external HD to it for HD movies and what not but it will only read the HD formatted as Fat32 and as most of you know, it will only accept files up to 4gigs. Well that kind of kills HD. I also cannot root my device as it is release 6b . Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Did I help, there's a thanks button for that!

nevermind, nexus media import works good.

USB otg won't work?

I have a 32 gb lte nexus 9. I Tried using three different USB otg devices including a flash drive from Sandisk that plugs in directly, a flash drive plugged in via a USB otg cable and a ps3 controller plugged in using the same cable (I have the sixaxis app). No one of them work. ES file explorer wouldn't detect any storage, neither does the 'storage' menu in settings give any mount option. And sixaxis doesn't detect the PS,3 controller. Any suggestions?

If you're not rooted, root, then get stickmount from the play store.

Thanks. Rooting made it show up in ES explorer somehow. The ps3 controller still won't work but that's unrelated.
