Wireless charging questions - HTC Droid DNA

Ok, so I'm completely noobish on this topic. From what I've read, I THINK the DNA needs to charge using the Qi standard.
My main question comes down to this - I have the DNA and a Nexus 7. The Nexus I'm sure needs a special case to be compatible (right?). Is there a mat that could be used to charge both simultaneously? The Verizon website only shows me the Nokia DT-900 which only looks big enough for the phone, and probably not the Nexus even by itself.
Is there an idiot's guide to wireless charging I could read? Or maybe someone who has both devices and already solved this problem? Thanks and sorry if I rambled.
Edit: After a little more searching, it appears the Nexus 7 can't be wirelessly charged without a hardware mod. This thread should probably be closed.

I got the DNA on Friday and the Nokia DT-900. It works flawlessly with the phone.

Looking for inductive charging back plate

Hello all,
The microUSB port on my Rezound has recently taken to working only at certain angles, so if I'm not paying attention when I plug it in, it sometimes doesn't charge properly. For that reason I started looking to buy the inductive charging plate, but it appears to be out of stock everywhere! Does anyone know of a place that might still be selling them, and/or would someone who has one be willing to sell it to me?
Thanks for any leads!

My bad! It is in stock at the Verizon online store. What threw me off was that it's not listed in the Rezound's accessories page for some reason.
Where you able to find the base charger anywhere? That's what I'm looking for now.

I believe any Qi supporting charging mat should work with it, the one test I saw used this one and it's Qi I believe - http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phone-accessories/lg-WCP-700
Correct, any standard Qi charger should work. The one I bought is the Nokia DT-900 wireless charging plate, which has worked perfectly for me and is generally less expensive than the LG plate that Verizon officially endorses for the Rezound.
Any one try this with a custom ROM and kernel? I mean it should work, just wondering if it didn't. Thinking of getting one, but don't want to buy if I cannot use AOSP ROMs.

[Q] Problem with wireless charging.

I have had my G3 for two weeks now and am very happy with it. I dumped my Droid 3, so as you can imagine, it's a huge leap in technology and power to go from the Droid 3 to a G3. I decided I wanted to start doing wireless charging as I saw several others in other forums talking about their shells getting cracked or damaged from excessive force needed to insert the usb cable to charge the phone. It does seem like it could eventually lead to some heavy wear and tear.
So I did some research and a lot of reading, and purchased the following charger and back cover and I can't get wireless charging to work at all. The reviews on the charger appear to be very positive and according to the description on EBAY, the back cover will work on the Verizon G3. The pins appear to line up correctly and I have tried moving the phone all over the mat but no luck. Could one of the apps I have frozen in Titanium Backup be preventing this from working? I basically only froze the crapware stuff. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be configured? I have an email out to the EBAY person I bought the cover from but have not gotten a response yet. Ideas? Suggestions?

Does your new cover have 4 pins space correctly? I know in the past, some vendors from ebay were sending out only the NFC cases on accident and calling them Qi covers.
The charger you got is a knock off of the TYLT charger, so it could possibly be something with that charger too. If you have a Verizon store near by, Id go down and see if they ahve any Qi chargers setup. Each one I have gone into always had at least one so I could test if my things were working.
The new back cover definitely has 4 pins and from the best I can tell, they match up. I will definitely try your Verizon store idea when i can find a store.

Magnetor Charger

Anyone try Magnetor X... http://www.amazon.com/Magnector-Performance-Magnetic-Charging-Adapter/dp/B00JEN5S6A/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1412040478&sr=1-1
It seems like a great alternative to the dock... I don't want to always be taking out the thing to plug in... Magnetic and call it a day.\
I just bought three, arrived before my wife's Z3C (I'm getting the T-mobile Z3 when it's released). Look high quality enough.
I ordered one which it appears is in the same package as the phone so hopefully today or tomorrow. I'll report back if no-one else has by the time it arrives.
I heard these may not have enough clearance if you have certain cases on your phone.
clearance is limited, but the magnet has real bite - the only criticism is that it can lean away from the screen towards the rear of the phone, although that depends entirely how you hold it once attached - no led indicator, but the phone does that for you, and no issues as to the effectiveness of the charge (I've used 36% battery on the first day with moderate/reasonable use) - not perfect, just a lot better than you thought it would be......

One girl on here that I talk to said she's been using the magnetic charger on her Z2 and absolutely loves it! So I think it's worth buying (already did actually lol, but waiting for Z3 as I have the HTC One M8 right now until it gets released here in the U.S., so have to wait and see). Apparently it charges twice as fast as the regular USB wall charger does.

Right, I have one of these now and can report it's excellent. The magnet is pretty strong so holds to the phone well. Only problem I've found is that the Smart Connect app sees it as the same as the dock which is a little annoying as I used the dock at night to do things like turn off bluetooth and start Sleepbot etc.
I also bought an actual magnetic charging cable (this one: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/magnetic-charging-cable-sony-xperia-z3-z3-compact-z2-black-p41526.htm) and the magnet on that is far weaker and comes off if you touch the phone at all while charging.
I definitely recommend the Magnetor X
thanks! i definitely am going to try this!

3Shirts,
The cable I bought is this one, which is made by Magnector X: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JEMESHG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The reviews for it appear to be strongly favorable, so I am confident it will work great. What brand is the one you posted though? Can't find the maker name anywhere.
If you scroll down on mine, it says that Magnector makes this charger with Japanese parts not Chinese, so that may be the difference? Not sure. People who I've talked to on here who have the Z2 or Z3 and this charger cable say it's amazing too. So I definitely agree with your statement, though I have yet to try it out (I have the cable but waiting for Z3's release here in the U.S. lol).

Since it's also Magnector I would assume the magnets on that are as good as the ones on the adapter so it's probably great. Looks to basically the same but a fully wired version rather than being a microusb adapter like the OP.
I myself have also purchased this magnetic cable check out my review in the other magnetic cable thread. :good:

Yes I agree. Thanks.
The one I got's connector is smaller and I thought that made it more practical.

Deleted. Wrong thread.
Just tried mine. Works much much better then the cheap one I bought on ebay. The magnet keeps it in place if you move the phone around, when the cheap one would fall off.

I heard speeds are great. However, there are no data to support that claim. I bought both the Magnetor X wire and adapter to test out the sizes, convenience, etc.--they will be coming later this week. I am discharging my phone until it goes 1% or so, then charge with various cables and adapters I have in hand (including OEM). Then compare it with the Magnetor X.

[Q] Car mount with fixed USB charger HELP

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a car dock for my Nexus 6 similar to the pro clip or this fix2car mount http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/f...on-mount-dash-mount-with-usb-car-charger.html[1]
Basically my criteria are that I want to be able to take the phone in and out of the mount without having to attach the USB cable after. I want the USB cable to be fixed and the phone simply slides in to it.
The pro clip would cost me 150$+ and the fix2car one I linked would run me close to 70$. I'm looking for something about half that price.
Hope you guys can help!
Thanks
0 replies on XDA and on reddit, something tells me i'm about to drop a hundred bucks on a car mount... AGAIN!
PSA to anyone thinking about it: DO NOT get the airdock 2, it's a piece of poop and the phone falls off constantly.
If you must have the fixed plug, you could hack one in place with some JB Weld. A lot of guys did just that back in the "old" days.
Or suguru, that stuff works great for something like this. BTW, my airdock works great.

If you would like to charge your phone in a car dock without having to attach USB each time why don't you get the QI charging dock? It is about $35-$40 here in US, probably about same in UK. And will work with non-bulky case.

welllllllll the reason why im trying to avoid a QI charging dock (which btw is not a make or model but the technology, can you specify which model you're referring to?) is because i bought this neato quick charge usb lighter thingy and i'd like to be able to use quick charge..... wireless QI charging is pretty slow and when having the screen on, and steaming music, and using maps for nav, it doesn't actually gain any charge!

Well, I am doing the same, streaming and navigating, with Nexus 6 in the dock, using 2.1A USB lighter thingy and it charges.
I am also aware QI is a technology and not a model. There are quite few of those. I am using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N4H1R1M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01

the problem is that QI will bottleneck your charging. using a quickcharge usb lighter thing will work via a cable but not through QI!
QI will support up to 15 watts of charging in the future, it was actually announced like a couple of weeks ago or something, so future models will support quick charging
I have quick charger at work and at home. In the car I need the dock I can use with minimum effort and without connecting/disconnecting USB frequently

Curious to know if you got the holder yet?
From the pictures on the site, it appears that one of the claws on the top lands directly on the power and/or volume buttons.
Would like to know if it interferes with proper operation?

it can if you have it completely tightened down, but you would not be able to pull the phone in and out if it was tightened down. the way i have it now is the clamp holds on to the lip of the phone but not so tightly that I can't easily put the phone in and out of the dock. The clamp does not press on the buttons, this way.

Nexus 9 car install otg + charging

Hi,
I got two old Nexus 9 units, almost unused. I'm thinking of installing them in my old car for music and navigation. Some years ago I did the same with Nexus 7 (2012) using Timur's rom, it worked for a few years until tablet died. Anyway I'm familiar with the rooting, cabling and so.
Not surprisingly, first issue is the otg + charging issue. I read all relevant threads in xda but could not find the bottom line: Did someone manage to do that and how.
Since I've two units I can try to mod one for no-battery operation. Again the same question: was it done and how.
Thanks!
i'd be interested if you were to do a battery bypass mod. Even doing a simple removal of the battery, may be able to solder a 5v step down direct to terminals of device then can hard wire to 12v via any real means.
I'm also very interested in this topic.
OTG + charging capability in a Nexus 9 ROM or a "How to" battery mod write up.
