Hello,I rooted a friends 3vo back in 2011 & he is just now getting around to upgrading it to JB CM-10. I don't remember off hand how to go about upgrading & would appreciate any advice.
He is on Hboot 1.40
Radio 0.97.10.0530
S-Off.
Attached is a screenshot of the current ROM he's running.
Links would be extremely helpful!

This question comes up quite often so I just created this guide to help S-OFF users get updated to the current RUU level and then install a custom hboot and recovery.
If you have further questions or issues using it please post in that thread.

well, to be quite honest I don't really know why you would want to update your hboot... hboot is different from most software in that sense, the higher the version the more problems you are likely to have with roms and kernels. bottom line, there's no advantage having hboot 1.5x to having 1.49.xxx

Totally agree the lower the hboot the least problems you will have, my phone is hboot 1.49 and people with 1.53 are having issues galore

[Q] Hboot issue. Please help!!

Hopefully someone help help me outta this jam I just got. So I am currently rooted and s-off. Running on 1.58 Hboot and ROM and wanted to go to an AOSP. Copied the file I needed to go over to 1.4 to my root. Went to Bootloader and successfully downgraded to 1.4. Problem now is that I was on a 1.58 rom so now it will not boot, and everytime I try to go to recovery it just wants to go to bootloader and upgrade again. I cant delete the 1.4 upgrade file!! Please help!!
Try this.

Thank you so much dude! didnt know how I was gonna get outta that!
What file did you use to successfully downgrade to 1.4? I always get an error and fail because the file is older than the current.
Thanks
Just some friendly advice, any questions or issues your having, they should be directed in the q n a section.

Evo 3D RUU Issues

Hello XDA, i've been a long time lurker due to flashing my evo 4g and swapping roms on it constantly.
I have recently purchased an CDMA EVO 3D and was attempting to get S-OFF i started off by re locking my phone but i can't get past the ROM Update Utility, i believe it's because my image version is too up to date?
My bootloader is
*** RELOCKED ***
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.58.0000
eMMC-boot
The current Image version is 2.95.651.5 is there anything i can do to continue with getting Revolutionary S-OFF on my phone? or am i practically stuck here?
Thank you in advance for all your help, it is very much appreciated.

Just a heads up that you won't be able to flash the 2.89.651.2 RUU with the March OTA installed without downgrading your main version (mainver). I can give you instructions to do that if necessary but I suggest trying that guide first starting with Step2, or if you are already rooted Step3.
Good luck!

Just got off work and i'm gonna sit down and give this a try, thank you guys i'll let you know how it goes.
I've been stuck at the HTC logo... I still have access to recovery hboot 1.58 but it keeps saying in fastboot mode no image found???
How can I just flash anything at this point? Please help

Sorry, we can't help people that use iPad's in this forum.
j/k
But seriously, you kind of hijacked the OP's thread so you might be better off starting your own or at least providing a little more information like what ROM you are using, have you installed the March OTA, do you have a custom recovery installed, are you S-ON or S-OFF. That would be a good start anyway.
ramjet73
I cannot thank you guys enough, i'm S-OFF now and everything seems to be good. Again thank you two so much.

[Q] Updating to Newest ICS Firmware?

I have been running NILS Business sense 3.6 for a long time. I would like to move to the newest firmware and roms. I really can't remember if I'm using the GB firmware patch or not. I'm on hboot 2.25 with radio 1.22.10.042 and build 3.14.605.10. Could someone please tell me the best method to get this working. Currently S-on with dev unlock. Thanks for any assistance.
attached are screenshots of my software information
You're basically on the previous OTA. If you're s-on I would stay there, since youre more than compatible with 99.9999% of the current roms.
