[Q] Updating to Newest ICS Firmware? - HTC Rezound

I have been running NILS Business sense 3.6 for a long time. I would like to move to the newest firmware and roms. I really can't remember if I'm using the GB firmware patch or not. I'm on hboot 2.25 with radio 1.22.10.042 and build 3.14.605.10. Could someone please tell me the best method to get this working. Currently S-on with dev unlock. Thanks for any assistance.
attached are screenshots of my software information

You're basically on the previous OTA. If you're s-on I would stay there, since youre more than compatible with 99.9999% of the current roms.

[Q] another firmware question...

i hate to ask this but I just can't get it figured out for sure. I am on Clean Rom 4.3, my build number is: 3.11.605.22. I dont think I've ever done an RUU. I rooted / unlocked with the All in One Toolkit, and then installed CR 4.3, and then did the patch and kernel.
So if I wanna try something else, like BAMF, can I just flash it or is there still the RUU that I need to do?
thanx in advance...

Just the patch. BAMF is based on the leaked firmware, so just make sure you flash the patch with it. That one will have a special PH img also. It's called PH98IMGoldfirmwarepeople.zip.
EDIT: And if that's your true firmware, you already flashed the RUU. I think that's just the build of the ROM. Go into HBoot and you'll know for sure if you flashed any kind of RUU on your phone. Your HBoot number will be higher.
in HBOOT I have HBOOT 2.11.0000, eMMc-boot, Oct 6, 2011

Perfect. Then you're on the old (official) firmware so you just need to flash the ROM in recovery, the patch, and the PH98IMGoldfirmwarepeople (in bootloader).
EDIT: And just so you know in the future, your HBoot would be 2.21 if you were on the new firmware.
ok cool. is the alternative to just do that entire ruu leaked ics process, and then I'm updated and can just flash roms w/out patches. Is that the better way to go?
sorry for all the questions, that is it I promise...
thank you

Well, that would be an easy way to do things, but because you can use ROMs without it, I would just not do it yet and wait for the official OTA. I updated, but that's just me.

flashing rom issue

Hi there!
I'm running a fourth bar 3.0 rom, and everyrhing runs good so far. When I try an other rom, for exemple speed rom 7, or cmod9, ect... I have an issue. As soon as the rom boots, when it comes the main screen (clock screen), I have a message saying something like (my handset is in french, so I don't know if translation is good); sorry, application android.phone has stopped.
I have updated my firmware, to 1.46 RUU videotron update, and running on FAUX kernel (kernel from fourthbar 3.0 rom). I run the stock hboot. I'm s-off.
My question is, how can I fix that issue, when I boot on those roms? Because, I can't run theme with that advice. Can I flash the TMOUS update, or it's just for t-mobile users? Do I need to update my hboot and kernel?
thank you!!
Sounds like you need to update to ICS firmware, did you do that?

I have updated to 1.46 RUU (for videotron costumers), but, is that enough? Do I have to update to TMOUS ics leak??

Marc

You can try, but it will not work unless you SuperCID your phone. Since you're S-Off, you can do that. There are threads explaining how to do it. After that, download the latest T-Mobile RUU, such as the R2 version. Be sure that you get the full RUU, and not the OTA! OTAs don't work unless you do some complicated tinkering to it.

Ok! Thank you so much Keylogger! I was wondering if I must supercid my phone to run these roms. Obviously I have to!
Thanks for your help!

He is on Hboot 1.40
Radio 0.97.10.0530
S-Off.
Attached is a screenshot of the current ROM he's running.
Links would be extremely helpful!

This question comes up quite often so I just created this guide to help S-OFF users get updated to the current RUU level and then install a custom hboot and recovery.
If you have further questions or issues using it please post in that thread.

I just created the guide you need today.
If you want 3D to work you are going to have to go with a "de-Sensed" ROM that emulates AOSP. There are AOSP based ROM's that have working 4G but no 3D camera.

So if i wanted just the current ics update, downloading the ruu from that website, running it an leaving it would be enough?

Yes. You wouldn't be rooted and would have the stock bootloader (hboot) and recovery, but if you want to run 100% stock that would be fine.
I suggest leaving it S-OFF though so if you change your mind it's easier to update those things.

ok, one last question, just so i am clear to myself. lol I downloaded : RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed from the site posted in your guide. by running that exe, I will be on the current sprint ics rom, radio, curren stockt hboot, current stock recovery, an S-off ? with the option of then afterwords installing custom hboot an recovery?

[Q] Firmware flashing for same CID, with S-ON

Hello people,
I've been using Nexus devices for a while on which rooting/flashing/updating was far simpler than my new phone - HTC One M8. I have been researching for around 2 months now and still have not been able to come to a clear-cut solution to my problem.
I am currently on 4.4.2 and my CID is CWS_001, I am S-On and firewater did not work - before going for sunshine, I want to know if it is possible for me to update my firmware in order to flash 4.4.4 and above ROMs. I tried flashing a newer ROM but its boot up time was huge and performance was lagging as well, after research I found out that I need to update firmware for it.
Now, I do not even know which firmware I currently am on since there is too much going on in HTC One M8's forums for a new person to get a grip of things. If any one from the XDA community could clarify and simplify things for me, I would be highly grateful.
Thank you.
Cannot flash firmware without being s-off, more than likely you are on either 1.58.502 or 2.23.502 if you took the ota before it was pulled.

Hboot 3.16 = 1.12, 1.54, or 1.58 firmware
Hboot 3.18 = 2.23 firmware
With 1.x firmware, you can only run ROMs based on 1.x software (otherwise experience long boot times and/or broken WiFi).
Similarly, on 2.23 firmware, you can only run ROMs based on 2.x software
EDIT: Corrected the hboot numbers. Sorry for the typos!
Thank you for the response guys. I just booted into fastboot to check my HBOOT and it says "HBOOT-3.16.0.0000".
That does not match with any of the two options posted in the previous post. I am trying to identify my current HBOOT and firmware in order to flash a ROM which matches these IDs. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do to determine the two?

Did you try firewater before it was discontinued or is it still available for you?
I tried it around two months back and got message that it is not possible to attain S-OFF. Tried a couple of times again later too but same outcome.
I am in the same situation as the OP, only difference is that I have S-OFF from Sunshine.. Just got my phone. I hope to follow along as you guys help him out.

Hboot 3.16 = 1.12, 1.54, or 1.58 firmware
Hboot 3.18 = 2.23 firmware

Back to the core question: NO you cannot update your firmware by any "official" means at this time, with your current configuration (s-on). There is no AT&T update that contains 3.x firmware. To update the firmware by "unofficial" means you need s-off.
S-off by sunshine, then update the firmware as outlined in the thread below:

Since you are already s-off, just follow the instructions in the thread I linked above to update firmware.
