I've just installed CSROM Turbo, and I'm attempting to restore some of the stock apps the author has removed. The author has placed all removed apps into deodexed apk files in a zip folder. I've been attempting to take the apk files and simply click on them from my sd card to install, but it won't let me. I haven't been able to search for instructions on how to re-install these removed stock apps. Can someone help me, please?

Those are system apks that cannot be just installed. Simply copy them into /system/app. I hope you know that means using root-level file manager.

Ah, didn't know they should just be copied; I'll definitely do that. I'll use Root Explorer to copy them over.

Womp womp: I tried this tonight... unfortunately, nothing happens. I used Root Explorer to copy the deodexed files to /system/app. I restarted the phone, wiped the cache, restarted the phone again... but the stock music player I hoped to use did not appear.
Also, when I put the calendar widget on the home screen, it, "refreshing" or "loading". But none of my calendar entries are shown. So, similar to the music apk, I copied the calendar apks to the /system/app directory, but then all calendar options disappear.
Any advice? Thanks!

How do you delete apps that come with the Optimus One? When you select Uninstall from the Menu in apps drawer, you're only allowed to delete apps you have downloaded.

1) Root your phone
2) In adb Terminal go to /system/app
3) delete/gzip/move *.apk files corresponding with application which you want to delete

Root explorer is not for free, but.... who knows Also you can use Titanium Backup. It's amazing tool!

search "stock apps" in the development forum, this provide most apps like calendar
simply unzip the palckage, find the apk, and put back in /system/app

Download a root explorer app like "Root Explorer" (obviously) or File Expert, go to the system/app folder and give it write permissions (there would be options for that). After that you can copy to that folder. After copying, reboot.
Found a bunch of answers using search, but nothing works. I have copied memo.apk into system/app folder and then changed the permissions, rebooted and the app is still not showing up. I am running nero v2. I had memo backed up by titanium but it will not let me restore. Any help would be appreciated. I also see there are others on the Nero V2 thread looking for the same answer.
To be clear, you disclose an old rom with memo.apk, extracted it, moved it to system/app and rebooted and the app doesn't show up?

Someone way back when everyone was deleting bloat and finding out what could be deleted or not, had zipped a file with all of the stock apk's. I tried using that one and it failed.
In another thread, someone mentioned that you can't use an odexed rom apk on an deodexed rom. . .that person had suggested using another version of memo.apk. I tried that and it didn't work either.
Either way, I have not found anyone that has posted that has a successful way to push the memo.apk.
So the answer to your question, in essence, is yes, I have done all of that. Although someone else did the apk ripping from the rom.

They were in Nero v3 and missing from nero v4.1
I'm in the same boat. I updated to Nero 4.1 w/o Touchwiz. I have a Titanium backup of Memo, but the option to restore is not enabled. Has anyone tried flashing the Touchwiz version of 4.1 to see if you can restore the backup?

Titanium Backup did not allow me to restore my data that was with my old one. It recognized the new one and just deleted the old one with the data. Also, a day or so later the .apk disappeared from my app drawer. Was still in the system/app file. Didn't have my old data anymore . . .so it was kind of a moot point. Use Note Everything now.

I got the Memo.apk from one of the threads here. Copied it to /system/app using ES file manager (need to set / as your root). Checked the permissions and they are -rw vs. the other apps in the folder which are -r-. After a reboot still no Memo app in the application folder. I'm guessing the permissions are not an issue, since the only difference is that the app is writable. Does it matter if the app is CAPS Memo.apk or memo.apk?
Update: Matched the permissions (ownership + read only) using terminal running su. No Go. Tried flashing the Touchwiz version of Nero. No Go. Copied over the Memo.odex file as well. No Go. Renaming Memo.apk to memo.apk. Also No Go. Just for clarification. I did reboot between each change to check if the app was now appearing in the Apps folder. What am I doing wrong?
I want this too, but it doesn't works for me too. I'm able to put the memo.apk in the system/app but it doesn't show up in my applications.
Hey guys. I finally got it to work. Get the file from below and copy to your SD card. I then used terminal as su to move the file to the system/app directory. I changed the permission using "chmod 644 Memo.apk" to match the existing apks in the directory. Reboot and the app is there. Hopefully Titanium will now let me restore my back-up data for Memo.

Not sure what is different from my previous attempts, but I suspect that it is the file itself. Some of the files I used wouldn't even install. Others would start the install when clicked, but say it can't install. Need to read up on deoxing...
I have found a couple people that have frozen or removed apps and are starting to get issues with their contacts. Not being able to remove, add, update, or anything with them. So I am posting a zip file off all of the apps for people that have removed them without backing them up. Do you restore these with titanium backup? Because I backed up the bloat ware and later tried to restore it to no luck. However the apps were frozen when backed up so perhaps that caused an issue?
I don't think titanium backup is good at restoring. I've tried it a couple times with no luck. if you place a copy of the zip file extracted on your sd card and open it with files select the application you want to install you can install it from there. I personally only like titanium backup for freezing the application I don't use and cannot remove.

I downloaded the zip and tried to install Backupassistant.apk but it says "application was not installed". Is there a specific way that I need to reinstall? Root explorer does not allow me to change permissions from read only for "system" so I can't move the apk files in there.

Check and see if you are rooted first. You cannot install system files as a normal app. They must be pushed to system/app or placed there using root explorer. Check and see if you are rooted or that you superuser has blocked root explorer.

I think I know what your talking about, follow Nitros instructions but when you are at the starting folder in Root Explorer press the Mount R/W button, I believe as long as you stay in the program (or don't press back too many times, because if you are at the base folder and press back it will go back to R/O) any folder you go into will say "R/W" at the top. So just press the button when its available and THEN go into the folder you need to go to and the setting will stick.
Edit: actually I just was messing with my phone and the reason I saw that behavior is because I was in the SD card where its always R/W. If its not showing up then yeah I'd listen to Nitro on this one, though I have no idea how you got rid of Backup assistant without root.
So I just copied the app list you posted onto my phone and now its in a boot loop. I thought that when I copied all of them over it would let me choose to not replace files already there. Now the phone is in a boot loop.
This may sound stupid, but I am kinda hoping its reinstalling the apks, one with each boot? But I kinda have a sneaking suspicious that I just ruined my phone since there is no SBF
Also, the boot times before restarting are not consistent, does this mean anything?

If you are in a bootloop but all of your apps are still in place there is a slight chance that you could do a factory reset through recovery and the phone will boot.

Yeah I am rooted with gingerbreak 1.2. As of now Im not really concerned with the contacts anymore because I can still add and save new contacts. My concern now is that when the OTA Gingerbread update is out for the X2, will I be able to install it without the original Bloat.

Yeah my office tech support guy took a look at it and tried it, we got an error indicator icon when we tried. I don't think it finished copying, I think everything dying killed the copy process and left something important unfinished.
Now I am a little wiser for my new phone.

So I'm guessing the only way to get these programs reinstalled is if the SBF is available for the X2, which it is not?
I deleted a couple of apps that I need to reinstall to get wifi Direct to work:
AllShare ControlShare Service
AllShare FileShare Service
Any idea where I can get an apk of this to put these back on my S4? I'm rooted and still stock. I got the apps (I think) from the Repository Folder on the following thread:

Is this the procedure I'd use to install these files:
Now that you've downloaded your favorite stock apps, It's time to flash them onto your device. For flashing apk's you'll need a Root Explorer or any other equivalent explorer.
Step 1: Download the Apk from the above links.
Step 2: Using Root Explorer, Move the downloaded apk to System/App folder.
Step 3: Change Permissions by tapping and holding the app. Make sure to set permissions to rw-r--r-- (0644)
Step 4: Reboot into Recovery.
Step 5: Wipe Cache partition and Dalvik Cache. (Advanced > Dalvik cache)
Step 6: Reboot your phone and you'll find the app(s) automatically installed in your app tray.
Enjoy your favorite stock apps.
Will wiping Cache and Dalvik mess up my Google Wallet install? Should I reset it before doing this? I'm really lost!

Just finished downloading the file. How do I install these? Do I place both the apk and the odex file in the system/app folder and reboot? Why doesn't the AllShareControlShare.apk have a corresponding odex file? Does cache need to be cleared prior to installing? Would my GW need to be reset beforehand?

To be honest, I have no clue. I think they have to go into the system/app folder (I know you need the .apk file, but I'm not sure about the .odex file). I'm not sure if you need to clear cache/dalvik or Google Wallet before or after installing, though.

That worked. Thanks for the tip!
So i rooted my phone and installed an app called "Uninstall" that deletes the bloatware and it worked... until I powered it off then on and then I saw the bloatware return. I even tried different apps to get rid of the bloatware with no luck. Please help
Just flash a Rom. All the work is already done for you.

What good is a rooted phone if you don't have either titanium backup or ROM toolbox pro? Either one of those apps will do the trick if you'd like to remain stock. I personally have used ROM toolbox pro for years and prefer it over titanium backup because of it's UI which makes it more user friendly

Ok, I'm not exactly sure how the internal file system is set up as I've yet to receive my M8 but if it's anything like the previous android file systems (which I'm guessing is the case), you can use a file explorer (root explorer, ES explorer, Astro explorer) to navigate to /system/app. You may have to switch R/O to R/W within the file explorer depending on which file explorer you choose to make changes to the internal card. Within the /system/app folder, you'll see all the system apks. BE VERY CAREFUL to NOT delete things you are not absolutely positively sure about. Deleting the wrong app may render your device useless so do be careful. If you do not see the bloat apks you're looking for, navigate back to the internal root directory and search for /data/app. Here is where the other apks should be stored. Perhaps the file system is a little different but i've used 4.4.2 on several different phones and it has been the same structure.

Yes, do a backup in TWRP prior to deleting anything. This way if you do manage to screw something up, you can get back to where you were :good:

I've used root explorer for years and I'm having the same problem. things are deleted and return upon reboot. I'm taking the earlier advice and installing a custom rom.

That is bizarre. Can't say I've ever encountered that. Custom Romage it is then. I'll need to hold off until a full stock restore with associated flag removals is an option
I had the same issue.. rooted my phone, downloaded an app hider and solved my issue, kinda.
xda user eyeamgreg managed to debloat and he was nice enough to shed some light on how he accomplished this. He said he s-OFFed, used cleaner master and for the apps cleaner master wouldn't remove, he used titanium backup. It appears that with s-ON, the apps will reappear upon deletion. If this works for ya, make sure you spank his thanks button

It might be because you can't write to the system partition, even with root. Flash this kernel over stock and you should be able to delete system apps, even with S-ON http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705074
