Your SGS3 UP time !! - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
This just normal question
What is your SGS3 up time now??
Mine is up from 537:34:35 means 14 days, 21 hrs... :cyclops:
Thanks.....
Ohh I forgot to mention that I am on Stock 4.1.2 (not rooted).

Like me, most here flash to many roms/kernels/recoveries to have such up times.
Current up time: 1:36:32

42 minutes since I swapped batteries - do I get a prize?

Yawn

Going to try my s3 on viagra, that should increase the up time....shouldn't it?

Use a calculator dude. 168 hours is one week. 14 days are 336 hours. 537 hours are 22-23 days

So why have u got an S3 then?
If you're getting over a week on one charge you're clearly not using the phone for what it was intended for.
'UP time' means nothing, the benchmark for endurance is screen on time which I suspect will be very low in your case hence why your phone is lasting so long.

This is not battery life. Just how long it's been since the phone has been switched off.
SGS3 ftw

70:56:15
2 days, 22 hours, 56 minutes and 15 seconds

is there anyway to find total device uptime/usage including restarts/turning off?

Have u read it correctly my friend. It's not battry life noob. it's just up time means since how long the phone is turned on without reboot or shutdown. :silly:

Errr 1) I'm not a noob & 2) if you are referring to the time between reboots (not charge cycles) what possible reason is there to post those figures - it's bares no relevance to anything what so ever.
All it shows is you leave your phone on whilst it charges and you don't allow it to run out of juice. So what?

7 and half weeks and twenty four and a quarter seconds..14 percent battery left.

Only reaching 13h on my battery. Why?

So i bought me the SIII about two weeks ago and was excited to use the 2200mah battery. The first day i hit about 18 hours.
Since then i have:
Rooted
Installed CWM
and flashed this Kernel:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741684
Could running this ROM be the reason why i am having such horrible battery life?

I'm also aware of the Cell Standby issue which gives the wrong reading on the battery life status screen.
:silly:
Possibly. I have Stock unrooted for now as i don't have any reason to root and flash other ROMs yet. I consistently get 22 hours wih about the same screen On time you have. I have Auto Brightness, GPS On all the time, Sync On all the time and widgets running on every page.

never heard of that, but will definitely be doing that right now. The kernel i used overclocks the cpu so that might be a big reason
When i had my HTC Amaze 4G, i get around 12-14 hour battery life. I was even running Energy ROM at the time. I am thinking i might keep it 100% stock for now lol.
Okay, found a screenshot from the first battery cycle. I had Power Save On at the time. I had since been running without it on and of course using the phone more.

What are you OC to?
I tried OC a couple times and my battery would get hot. I quit when I read that some good Dev's say not to do it.
oc will definitely drain your battery faster.

Im running blazers Rom on the Sprint variant of the S3. On my evo 4g lte i had b4 switching to the s3 i would get like 40-50 hours with light/medium usage. With the same amount of usage im getting half of that with the s3. Much less then half if i actually do something with my s3. No widgets- no mobile data turned on- no syncing-no gps. Only wifi is turned on while Im home. 24 hours without a charge seems to be the cap for these phones. and thats with very minimal usage.

I think thats where im at right now, the phone is plenty fast as it is. So i just recently (about an hour ago) flashed back to the stock rom and am going to re-root and then run the clock down a little bit. OC is a little overrated for my usage!

battery is good even with data, IF you dont use the screen.
On screen time with stock is 5-7 hours. And if you play game continuously, about 4 hours

Folks... I came here for the same issue.... I love this phone, I had an HTC Desire Z before, I am a heavy user and flasher...
But I hardly get 6-7 hours from my Xperia S. Today, I was at work, I kept checking FB, RSS, twitter every 2-3 hours for 10-15 minutes. Other times it is on standby, screen off and not used.
I have Viber running, weather widget, background syncing, emails checked every hour or two but no FB autosync and **** like that.
After 5-7 hours I am down at 20+% and hardly used it. Is this like that??????
Right after unboxing, I did the OTA ICS update. Should I do a clean FlashTool flash instead?

I agree. Sony gave my carrier (Vodafone Au) an outdated version of the ICS update. Vodafone then took forever to approve it. My ICS update has the wakelock issue and battery life has noticeably diminished. The launcher crashes now and then. It's still laggy to move from home screens. I mean how hard is it to make a decent ICS update given how late it was rolled out. And I find it's funny that in the ICS update thread A LOT OF users claimed that the early versions of ICS were buggy, and yet now when others complain about them they're branded trolls. Grow up for f's sake. If you dont have anything nice to say or help people just dont say it and keep being a fan boy.

[Q] Extended battery life, is this as bad as I think it is?

Currently running the latest RUU, locked, unrooted...
8 hours 9 minutes down to 39%
1 h 22 min of screen on time
in an area of excellent coverage all day.
Probably sent 15 texts and received about the same, and got 2 emails
Is that as terrible as I think it is? The only thing I can think of is that I only ran the RUU once and something is messed up.
Yes that is terrible. I can get 5 to 6 hrs screen time with extended battery. What Rom are you running?

Yes, and those numbers are with 4g off, 3g only...my connection during the day is under 70 dmb.. I read somewhere that if you don't flash the ruu twice it can screw you up, but this phone has always been tough to say the least on battery.
Again, thank you for any advice.

No, it's even worse. Based on your use above, I get about 13 - 14 hours on the standard battery--don't know what I would get on the extended battery.
- Check screen brightness. I keep mine at 20% but I have a toggle so I can easily change it.
- Under settings-apps-running, check and see what is running. You may have something going on in the background.
- You might try downloading GSAM Battery Monitor free). It will show you a number of stats that might help you see what is going on. For example, it will tell you what apps are using, time an app is held awake even if the screen is off.
- You might check settings-accounts and sync and see if you have something syncing constantly.
- If your using PowerAmp, go into settings-lock screen and then uncheck any "enable lockscreen" if checked. Apparently that made a big diff on someone else's battery use.
- if you're in a marginal area for reception (phone or data), that will really make a big diff. Use WiFi when you can. I use mine at home anytime I go on-line or download anything. Mine phone reception was so bad, I finally bought the Verizon unit that increase the signal strength. That made a diff. in my battery use.
My phone is unlocked and rooted, so that could be a difference since I use Titanium Backup to "freeze" a number of apps.
Good luck.

Mines rooted and unlocked as well. Running AOKP jellybean. :/ this is after a year.

Freaking WOW. Almost 100 hours on battery.

I FINALLY plugged my phone back on to the charger.
Almost 2 1/2 hours screen on time, about 90 minutes talk time, random browsing, maps usage while out. Screen was at 100% brightness for the first 35 hours, then 50% brightness until this morning when it auto set to 6% for battery conservation. Wifi on, overriding 4G when possible. I am literally stunned as how long one charge went.
NICE !!! But make sure you realize your phone is sleeping the majority of that time, so you have to consider that time as standby and not actual 'usage per say'
2h screen is almost insignificant.
I can reach 150h easily leaving the phone in a dark room for a few days.
Nothing special.

My Galaxy Note I could get 14 hours of it with light usage. G2 same? 60 or more.
I don't get why people have to immediately start saying that it's not normal usage or even cheating, etc..
96 hours and 6% were used from the screen (so 2h 23m)... theres nothing special about it, really.
Its a great standy/idle time but.. not even worth to compare with a normal/power user and not even worth to make a thread about it...

And why can I not be a "normal" user. I used that phone exactly like I used my last phone. Check in on social media from time to time, read forums for a little bit, talk some, use maps, etc. I just don't rely on it as heavily as others. But any time you have a smart phone with 4G that you can toss in your pocket and use for two plus days reliably, that's something worth noting. My HTC Rezound if left to sit in standby and never touch wouldn't go 12 hours or so before being dead.
So yeah, I think it's worth noting. Not everyone has to use their phone as their primary means of everything electronic.
well, 96 hours = are 4 days.. and in this 4 days the screen was on for like over 2 hours. I dont know but that makes no sense fro me.. for me it actually looked like you just waked up your phone to check the battery
I mean, its cool for you that you reached such time, but why making a new thread and show some nonsense?
On my last cycle i watched it was like 8 hours screen on time within like 51 hours from 100% to 3%.. did i make a new thread? nope.

I think Kewkie is the only one wasting everyone's time. These threads are created for researchers who plan on buying. Finding a forum with tons of positive feedback isn't a waste of everyone's time. My galaxy Nexus had 2 hours screen on time but would be completely dead in 8 hours. So to have the same screen on time and it go another 90 hours! That's thread worthy.
Maybe instead of bashing, you could throw up your own screenshots. Lots of forums have uptime battery threads.
If we don't have one, maybe the OP could edit the title and make an official battery posting thread. They are handy to have to compare roms and various versions. For example I just got the 12B Verizon update and my battery seems to have taken a hit. It would be nice to have before and after results.

Let the OP express what his feedback is towards the phones battery life
@op Nice stats you have there thats like what 4 days without a charger and almost 2 hours and 30mins of SOT is quite impressive IMO
coming from the Note II i thought battery life was king till i bought this phone
See my post, im not hesitant to show my stats

I find it interesting to say the least. I have an old motorola droid RAZR HD. When I charge it and just leave it for my alarm clock it will get 10+ days easy of idle time. However android os isn't the highest. Idk why but it seems the g2 android os is always a significant portion of the battery. Wonder what it could be.

It's the knock on feature. If you disable it, your G2 can live for a month

Maybe i do, actually i dont care, and for some guys maybe im telling the truth.
So you will tell us, that its fine when a guy is doing an research for the battery and finds this thread and thinks "wow 100 hours batteryife, damn thats sick!" so what if the guy who did the research is an poweruser and just can reach like 50? 55? hours because his screen time is 3-4 times more than the OP's one?
And i dont post sreens because i dont take a screenshot of any loading cycle and fap on it. I use my phone as an smarthphone and dont trim it to a useless phone without mobile data, without syncing, without getting messages from social media, whatsapp, viber, whatever.
So if you think im wasting others time, dont answer me or stop reading my posts
Just cause im telling the truth doesnt mean im a troll or whatever.
And 96 hours with 2h 23m screen on time is like, put the phone into a room and let it idle. I could make such test and i bet i can get even more hours, but why should i waste 5-6 days without using my smartphone as an smartphone, to show how great my batterylife is? No, sorry.. im fine when i can use my phone for like 2 days with a great screen on time and use my smartphone probably.
Why i post here then? Well, to open "researchers" eyes and those guys should look at the screen on time and dont get blended by the thread title.
