Hello Forum!
Just upgraded my SGS2 to Jelly Bean. Trying to get used to do everything in new ways, but I am very annoyed by the "updated" stock Picture Frame widget.
In the previous version it did present the pictures in original aspect and crystal clear. Now the pictures are forced to respect the aspect of the tiles (4 x 4) and all pictures are presented very grainy. I have of course tried to open the same photos in Gallery and they are perfectly sharp.
Any help or comments?
I prefer to use stock apps - as long as they work!
Anders
Nobody up for a test?
Nobody out there who could give the picture frame widget a try and see if they also get very bad quality photos?
I've just updated to JB 4.1.2 from ICS 4.0.4 And the stock picture frame viewer its working well, exactly the same as before the upgrade. the pictures are clear, not grainy and a 4x4 crop of the original photo its displayed I.e. the original photo is not compressed to fit the frame of the widget.
Not much help for your problem but it does point towards a problem with your set up rather than with the widget in general.

Hi Mickey!

HI, i recently installed rom starburst and also overclocked the cpu.. but i noticed viewing the pictures on the photo gallery seems pixelated, i have to zoom in and zoom out for it to produce a clear image... somehow the system can't simply produce a clear image from the get go.. seems sad since it has a very powerful res built in on it..
is there a fix for this? does anyone else have the same problem?
I've got the same problem...
Images are low-res on opening. If you zoom in and out again, they become hi-res.
Moving the picture just a little to the side and back again also turns them hi-res.
People suggest downloading QuickPic, but this app has a different problem: moiré patterns (which don't occur in the original gallery app.)
Right now I can't decently watch hi-res pictures that are imported on my galaxy tab 10.1, and that's a real bummer...
I have a Galaxy S 2 phone that doesn't have this problem, so it may be a bug in the honeycomb gallery.
I did noticed that my photos and videos are blurry & noisy after ICS 4.0.4 with firmware .431 update. This is not experienced with older .58 firmware. I've tested the stock Camera and modded Camera APKs but still the quality of the picture and video are the same. I guessed this is a bug with ICS update?
Anyone have solution?
My advice to you is stop shaking your hand when taking pics like you are holding 10kg in one hand. I have a xperia mini pro and i'm using the official ICS and stock camera App. I'm getting great pics, the compression is reduced, the images are much clearer and sharper than in GB. Thx Sony
If you still experience this, start fresh, reinstall ICS, delete android folder in your memory card and restart the phone twice.

I can confirm others experienced this problem too based on the post here
Code:

. The photos taken are darken and blurry.
Need help here, in S3 on talk video there function "Background replacement"?, what is this? I really no idea. How to make it work? And also when I enlarge the video on myself the width of screen become wide out, so it look my face so wide and big. It seem to many pixel width so video image produced to fit in. But I need confirmation here, Anyone?
In space, sunset and disco doesn't work!
GTalk background replacement "in space", "sunset" and "disco" doesn't work!
In Samsung Galaxy S III original stock ROM there is missing videos files:
system\media\video\AndroidInSpace.240p.mp4
system\media\video\AndroidInSpace.480p.mp4
system\media\video\Sunset.240p.mp4
system\media\video\Sunset.480p.mp4
Which these file cause the Space and Sunset background replacement doesn't work in Gtalk video chat, I'm not sure for "Disco" what kind video files.
Original stock Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S have these video files.
Samsung you missed this out on your stock ROM. Very bad!
Those files are videos. Smh.

Hello,
I use P.A.C. rom and since it's under paranoid v3.0 I can't have 16/9 pic format in ANY camera apps. If anyone found a way to bring it back, press let me know. 4/3 is a pain now that ask screen are wide! A

You do realise that all it does when you set it to 16/9 is crop it. So all you really have to do is zoom slightly your 4.3 photos. 8mp non wide 6.4 wide.
Go get camera ics and in settings set it to 6.4mp there you go

Please read again, seems you didn't get it...

Something strange here with the S3...
A while ago Google (finally!) fixed that long withstanding 96x96 pixel limit for Gmail contacts (not G+), as well as introducing 720x720 contact image size in JellyBean.
Editing photos in Gmail contacts now has a new interface and larger file size is allowed. However, on the S3 they still look crappy low-res.
Phone running latest 4.1.2 official, not rooted.
Any ideas what needs to be done? Thx.
Post a screen capture for better understanding.
For me it's locking ok. But i'm rooted (Custom rom 4.2.2)

I'm on 4.1.2 and contact photo is high res. I did take the photo and set it using the phone, not through gmail contacts.
You have to enter the details of each contact with photos to let it render the high res picture. You'll see contact picture will be sharper after a second or two.
ok seems re-editing the contacts images' (re-add picture) in google mail and resync-ing on the S3 did the trick.
All high-res now....too bad there's a stupid translucent bar at the top when receiving a call, most heads get cut off.......
