I follow this guide:
Here is my guide on how to install 2.3 generic and then root your x10.
First I would suggest installing the generic version of 2.3.
So, download the Flashtool - azuzu.spice.net.au/tools/X10_GB_Root/FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec.exe
Install it, then go to download the generic version of 2.3:
[Download] All X10 Firmwares - xda-developers
I downloaded X10a_3.0.1.G.0.75_AMERICA-US GENERIC 1233-8200.zip (140.5 MB)
Unzip the file and there should be a FTF file inside, that is the generic ROM
Open Flashtool, Click Flash, navigate to the FTF file that you unzipped.
Chose it, it will prepare the FTF file and then open a window asking you to turn your phone on in Flashmode.
Turn off phone and then hold the back button and plug in the USB cable at the same time like the window is asking you to do.
It will flash the phone to generic 2.3. Now we can prep it for rooting.
Turn the phone on, it will want you to go through the Wizard steps the first time. Just chose English and then click Skip (don't set it all up now)
Open Settings->Applications->Check Unknown Sources->click into Development->Check Debugging and check Stay Awake (for now, we need to do this)
----------
Phone is now 2.3 and ready to get rooted. We have to flash part of the kernel, root and then reflash back to the current kernel.
So, back in the flashtool, click Flash, there will be 2 files in the Firmware folder that is part of the flashtool. Chose the Kernel Downgrade and click ok, it will prep the files and get you ready to flash.
Turn off phone, hold the back button and plug in the USB cable like the onscreen instructions say and it will flsh to the downgraded kernel.
When it is done, unplug and turn off the phone.
Now, we need to root, the phone won't start so remove the back on the phone, we will need to pop the battery at some point.
Make sure the phone is off, have the flashtool open, and plug in the phone, and turn it on.
Click the Root button as soon as it lets you. If the root button never lights up, try once more (might have to pop the battery out to start again)
If you still can't click the root button in the flashtool, then when the phone starts, go to Advanced at the top of the menu bar in the x10 Flashtool and select Root and beside that select Force psneuter
In the flashtool, where it says what it is trying to do.
It used to say "Android version : 2.3.3 / kernel version : uname: permission denied" Now it says "Android version : 2.3.3 / kernel version : 2.6.29" or some other newer version. As long as it sys something like that, then it rooted.
Now we are ready to put the 2.3 kernel back on there and we are done.
Turn off phone (remove battery) now we start it in flashmode again. In the flashtool, click Flash and chose the Kernel Upgrade file from that firmware folder.
Plug in USB, hold back button and pop the battery back in, it will say it is flashing and ask you to unplug and reboot the phone when it is done.
That is it, it should be at 2.3 now and it should be rooted.
At this point, I would also do a Factory Reset on the phone, just to make sure anything left over from 2.1 is gone.

That's the guide.

Get s1tool and identify, post log here.

I got my new Vibrant, since my other bricked.
Anyway, I decided not to root or anything, and officially update to froyo using Kies mini. It worked, but I have no reception at all, and when I go to Mobile networks, it asks to "Insert a SIM card". Also under Baseband version it's unknown WTF!

give it 10 minutes on that baseband thing
It's been two hours.
I suppose the phone would at least recognize that there is a SIM card in there, but it does not even do that. In settings under Status everything is Unknown.
Mobile network state is Disconnected and Service State is Out of service...
Try reflashing back to stock and then re-down load the 2.2
Nah, don't want to risk getting another brick. Tmobile is sending a new one with express shipping paid on their part. The phone, I just got it today, and it feels cheap, if you shake it, you can literally feel the vibration.
Thanks though.

Simcard Card Not Recognized with MiniCM9 ROM

Hello,
I'm sorry if this question was already been made before.
I've installed MiniCM9 Rom with ICS 4.0 successefully, but i've a major problem, my phone does not connect to the Vodafone network mobile provider. I have a Vodafone simcard and my phone doesn´t get connection to any network.
Anyone could help?
Additional Info: Seems that the phone doesn´t recognize the simcard

It happened when you unlocked the bootloader, but you failed to chedk before you went ahead and flashed the custom kernel and ROM. Restore to original firmware, relock the bootloader and hope that it will fix your problem.

Use PC Companion to repair your phone as follows:
Leave your phone unplugged from your computer
Start PC Companion and choose update
It won't find your phone and offer you a repair option
Choose that and follow the steps
When it asks to connect your phone in flashmode, you phone needs to be turned off, you press the back-button and plug in the usb-cable, it will start flashing the original firmware
After it is done you open S1Tool
Press the Restore button, it will relock your bootloader
Hopefully your simcard will be detected again after that.

And if i insist to install ICS 4 (i have difficulties ti be beaten by informatics), what step did i miss/wrong in the process of installing ICS 4?
Edit:
I run se S1tool with the phone still in the condition before in it says that it has
SEMC Simlock Certificate.
What it means? Does it means that it should recognize the simcard?
check radiomodule version

It should work yes, did you check your firmware and baseband versions before you installed everything? they should be 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 for the firmware and alotofnumers ending with 4015 for the baseband.
Still go back to stock first and relock your bootloader, and hope your phone will work in that condition Then you can try again.

Yes. And the network is working.
Know, i've made the process once again, and the phone asks me for the pinlock, and after that the SIM network unlock PIN.
Additional Info: It's Working!!!!! Yeahhhhh. Many thanks to you...

[Q] Beginner Problem GT-P5100 - Flashing XSA (Australia) Firmware

Hi Guys, new to this so please indulge me a little!
Purchased two GT-P5100 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2s for the kids, checked the software version using *#1234# and received this:
AP: P5100UBALD4
CP: P5100UBLD4
CSC: P5100UUBALD4
Connect them to kies and it displays: latest firmware version: PDA:LD4 / PHONE:LD4 / CSC:LD4 (TTT)
Checked these at SamMobile:
GT-P5100 - Trinidad and Tobago
PDA: P5100UBALD4
CSC: P5100UUBALD4
Version: 4.0.3
Modified: 2012-04-17
Checked in firmware and files for Australian version (XSA) and found that here sammobile. com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-P5100&pcode=XSA&os=1&type=3#firmware
Downloaded the firmware and flash programs files. Flash programs contained odin3 V1.87 and signed_espresso_20120220_16G.pit Firmware file contained: P5100XWALE3_P5100XSAALE1_P5100XXLD7_HOME.tar.md5
Put the tab into download mode after shutting down using power+volume right then volume left to enter odin mode.
Connected the tab with the usb cable, attached the pit file using PIT button then attached the md5 file using the PDA button. Re-partition deselected, auto-reboot & f.reset time were both selected, flash lock not selected. Pressed the start button. Process completed and the tab rebooted as normal.
Tried using *#1234# and received this:
AP: P5100XWALE3
CP: P5100XXLD7
CSC: P5100XSAALE1
When I connected to Kies I now see this:
"Your devices current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
Current firmware version: PDA:LE3 / PHONE:LD7 / CSC:LE1 (TTT)
I assumed rightly or wrongly that the country designator should have changed to XSA. Does anyone have any idea if I have missed something in the process?
I checked Setting > About Device:
Model Number:
GT-P5100
Android version:
4.0.3
Baseband version:
P5100XXLD7
Kernel version:
3.0.8-546364-user
[email protected]#1
Build Number:

Within status, device status is normal
Appreciate any advice you can offer.

all that you do its correct, you dont miss enything.
Maybe your tab was imported from another region, and that's happened when you try to update with kies(not supported)
Don't worry, i'll be waiting for kies(or OTA) to update my tab from last year...and nothing.
Last week i get my tab updated with odin and fw from samfirmware.
As log as you use official rom you are in warranty .
Note that you're posting this in the Galaxy Tab forum when your device is a Galaxy Tab 2. Posting your question in the appropriate forum will more likely find other Australian users.
Thanks

Thanks for your input, I managed to solve the problem myself by performing a factory reset. Device now displays XSA in Kies.

Help!: Galaxy S2-I9100 - Baseband/IMEI/SN/Airplane-Mode

I have a S2 phone, out of warranty was bought from Spain under the Vodafone carrier. So is not stolen/imei blacklisted or other stuff i saw around.
Was bought by a good friend of mine, now he upgraded to S3 and his old S2 went to me, i think it was rooted, had superuser and acces to /efs/.nv_data.bin. to copy them from /device to /sdcard and also had busybox installed.
Phone shows even the airplane (with ariplane mode off) or the circle with the / inside and IMEI pops with " null/null ".
I did try GSII_repair and unlock software while i had the 4.1.2 software instaled as it came (from my friend) but no use.
I did try to get the nv_data.bin file with a hexedit and search for the 181468 (if i'm not wrong) line for the FF 01 00 00 00 stuff and change the 01 to 00, ofc nothing found about that line. Also between the .bak and .bin file since i remember was no difference at all.
I did try another method to search in the nv_data.bin for the SGH thing about the serial number, again without finding anything.
I tought a stock ROM will help, so i found a tutorial and with Odin3 v1.85 i've put this rom GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XEULP5.tar.md5 with the pda button. Of course the phone turn on and freeze on the S2 logo, than went on MENU+VOL Up+power, and did a whipe and turned on the phone. This went to 4.0.2 with :
Build nr.: IML74k.XWLP7
PDA: I9100XWLP7
CSC: I9100XEULP5
kernel
3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
[email protected] #3
Again *#06# and babam, IMEI nothing there.
So i did upgrade again to 4.1.2 I9100XWLSE_I9100OXELS6_I9100XXLS8_HOME.tar.md5 with oding on the pda tab and now shows:
Build nr.: JZ054K.I9100XWLSE
kernel
3.0.31-889555
[email protected] #3
SMP PREEMPT KST 2013.
PDA:I9100XWLSE
CSC:I9100XELS6
Baseband unknown, Imei unknown but now shows something for SN, this: SN: 00195ef068dfae.
Also found some codes *#7465625# -wich shows nothing and than when i try to enter service menu for debung and stuff also shows nothing.
So found another tutorial to add 3 files in Odin, the PDA option (that i used 2 times) and the PHONE and CSC options with 2 more files to upload. I will download, try and post back.
Thanks in advance for any1 wich reads/reply/helps or talks on this theard.:good:
p.s. I tried a soft called SRS with 3 free options to change null imei to 0004999 or something and it tells that phone is not rooted in this moment, and he might be right and here cames the qestion, while you change ROM you lose the root and su because if not, than means phone was not rooted, but hard to think at that because i could acces the /efs folder. Complete mind**** here....
edit: i did try that rom 4.1.2 with I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX with the 3 files below
pda: CODE_I9100XXLSJ
csc: CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1
modem: MODEM_I9100XXLS6 Still no baseband/imei and yeah for sure phone is not rooted now, should i root the phone and than .... try what? throw it on window / use it as ipod device ?
edit: found what is suppoused to be my original fimware Latest firmware from Spain / Vodafone carrier (ATL)... i will try to flash it with odin and see what happens.
GT-I9100 Galaxy S II
PDA: I9100XWLSD
CSC: I9100ATLLSC
MODEM: I9100BULS1

You do that.
You're looking for a EFS folder back up, check out ktool to see if you can recover the IMEI.
Also call your friend and ask him how the IMEI got lost and if he backed up the EFS folder at any point.

Thanks for your answer and support.
1. This stupid problem came out of nowhere and he did not had a backup on anything.
2. Found out the device was not rooted when that happen (4 days ago) and his bigger brother tryed to use suroot and some tools like ktool or something and another useless tool, and that was the moment when he created the backups.
3. So backups were created after, phone was not rooted when it happen, no backups at all. Now i've put the 4.1.2 baseband, rooted the device, installed jeebo kernel, did try some Dalkvin wipe from cwm but still no result, when i got the phone had no serial number at all, and i don't know how i managed by swamping from rom to rom to get a SN like 00195ef068dfae, this is not the SN but make me feel better than a empty SN field.
I guess that Z3X box would do miracles, but in my city (Brasov, Romania) no1 has one at workshops, found one for about 120$ but at around 100$ i can get a MB to swamp...but still i can not afford that at the moment...
Did try Ktool/gsII_repair and efs repair (chinese verison smthing) without any result like the 3rd time but now with my own root and cwm and stuff. This is another backup made with ktool 5mins ago http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...5454/2/1/3/5/1/7/5/EFS_Backup_with_K-tool.zip
Also managed to use EFS pro, did a backup, tried to repair baseband/format efs... nothing works
When i try now to repair emai /baseband-again, show an error about mounting /efs
