Help guys i been having this problem i installed Brillian Corners and a bunch of other roms. but when i get on i like something weird happens on almost every one. when i go to the market to get a program it tells me there is no space. but my internal is empty and my 16gb external is empty too. so i got almosy 32gb free whats up?

i tried puttying my sd card after i installed rom and other apps. and then thats when i recieved mounting errors and internal sd was unmounted for whatever reason. I dont think this rom has support for external sd card. but just based on my expierence

well what do you have your micro sd formated as. i had fat32 but wasnt working in most roms. so i formated it to ext3 and its worked so far...at least in recognizing it.
Beastly mounted it fine.And so did all of gb roms.
also is there maybe just a way to root tapntap i do like it
i think there is. you might have to set up adb and push stuff over. but not to sure on that. you can always use a custom TNT rom. Its still tnt but much snappier and faster

So I was just browsing ebay and came across a brand new 16 gb nook tablet and was able to grab it for under 200, so I caved in and bought it.
This is my first tablet and I've done some minor homework to figure out what I want to get out of it.
Basically, I've deduced I'm definitely going to root it, the question being whether to go with the CM7 or CM9. Since I'm just going to be using it for general use, I think I'll go with CM7 since from what I've read that is the most stable system right now. I think I can find the resources on here to do that.
The next thing is, I am not interested in buying an SD card, so I was looking around for ways to unlock the full 16gb of memory and saw this thread about repartioning:

So basically, I just want to confirm if my approach is correct. Since I want to root it for optimal use and get the full 16gb, the correct things to do are
1. Root with CM7 procedure
2. Follow that thread to repartition
Is that correct? Just want to make sure I have the proper procedure down

Well if you're just using it for general use and you're not planning on running intensive games or watching HD YouTube vids, I'd go with cm9. Just for one reason, the layout in apps. Not so much market apps except for a select few they are really well designed but the Google apps: They're so much better laid out for a tablet, cm7 feels to me like you're using a big gingerbread phone and I hate it. Just compare the Gmail apps, just do it. If no hw accel doesn't bother you and you don't mind a little less battery life (its a minimal difference, using wake lock to stop SODs) then definately go with cm9! As for rooting I'd watch Alberctwertz's YouTube channel, great tutorials over there. I don't know about repartitioning, I haven't messed with mine and I have all 12 (well 11 really) gb of internal open to me. Just IMO.

Thanks for the quick response. So if I understand correctly, simply rooting to CM9 will open up 11gb of space no problem?
Also, if I do this, will it be easy to upgrade once an improved version of CM9 comes out?

It looks good, except in between 1 and 2 you need to have flashed clockworkmod onto the internal storage. Indirect's clockworkmod flasher apk is somewhere in the forums.
And no, it won't free up 11 gigs. The problem is that the /data partition has a huge chunk of storage. That's where all your apps are stored. I mean you could always store things in /data if you really wanted.
Yes, upgrade will be easy. With clockworkmod it's simple, you just select to "apply update from zip", and wipe cache and you're good to go.
Just went ahead and ordered a 16 gb micro sd on amazon for 10 bucks to give myself the extra storage + easy rooting, so that should pretty much cover all the problems.
However I'm still confused about this 11 gb that is "locked" or whatever. After a root, is that data accessible for storage? I'm not really sure what people are talking about in reference to that

If I remember right, its available but not in the "My Nook" partition that mounts on your PC (this will show as .99gb). So you won't be able to transfer stuff directly from your computer to the nook internal. By re-partitioning, you make it so the mounted internal drive is all of the available internal storage.
As of right now, CM9 does not mount internal at all though. CM7 does as well as the stock B&N OS.
you can use CM9 or CM7 or you can just root it. but i recommend either root it or try CM7, CM9 seems like there are many issues.
it has 16 GB, but only 13 GB is available to use, and in that 13 GB: 12 GB is used for B&N content, you have only 1 GB to use.
if you follow that thread, you still don't have 16 GB (because only 13 GB is available to use)
and instead of doing it yourself, why don't you let B&N do it?
btw, you should use sd card, it's not that expensive and you'll need it to root or install CM7,... most programs store data in sd card, you can also use a sd card to backup,....
Before you do anything, i recommend that you boot into CWM from an sd card and make a full backup of the stock tablet. Also go into settings and record all the unique numbers like the serial and the MAC address in case you brick it at some point and have to fully scrub it to unbrick it.

Follow those steps, and you can install any ROM you want on your Nook, painlessly. I second the recommendation that you back up your unrooted Nook before you do anything else.

I'm still a little confused about the 13 gb that is locked... so even after a root, that is still only available for B&N content...? That's what has me lost, I don't get how rooting wouldn't unlock that to be used for any type of content

hmmm, if you boot up an 'os' ( cwm 7.2 or 9 ) on the external sd card, and then the internal structure has to stay the way it is... the internal 'has to be' un-modified in order for it to boot up into stock nook 'os'.
but when the dev gurus get all done with the replacement of the internal 'os' ( next month ? ) then we will be 'in charge' and get to use the memory the way we want.

In order to get the rest, you must repartition your NT so all of the space is usable.
Barnes and Noble's method will take you back to completely stock. You will have to reroot and reflash everything again. That's why it's recommended that you do it manually following the steps in the link I provided.
i just got my nt certified preowned from b&n. df -h shows 5.3G /data and 7.5g /mnt/media. has my system already been repartitioned??

Oh, then yes. It looks like your NT was already partitioned by Barnes and Noble. They changed your media partition from 1GB to 8GB (7.5GB usable).

I recently started getting not enough space when updating my apps, etc and when i go to storage i noticed that the internal storage seems to have 2 partitions.
- One with 1.97GB
- The other one with 11.36GB
Besides that i have a SD card with 32GB.
I am using SuperNexus Milestone 1 and it is great, but this running out of space is not working right for me... Shouldnt the entire internal memory that comes in the Galaxsy S2 be used as 1 internal storage...? It's been so long since i rooted my phone that i cant remember if this was how it was originally setup...
Any ideas?

That's how it was out of the package.
The 11.36 is for data storage, pictures, videos, random user data
The 2gb partition is where apks and config databases get installed.
How much free space do you have on that partition?

Right now it has 200MB free, but then it shows Internal storage 7GB free and SD card 20GB free...
I was just hoping that the ROMs would use/see the entire internal storage as 1 and the actual SD card as another one. But it seems like this is how android is...?

Its not how android is. Its how non-nexus devices are.
Nexus devices utilize one large partition for /data and storage. But with the downside that there is no external SD

Notice the part where I said DEVICES? Yeah that part.
It has nothing to do with the ROM you are on and everything to do with the damn partition table which you should not mess with at all.
Go to the ROM's topic and see that everyone else has the same layout as you.

(running Xperia Z2 on Cyanogenmod version cm-11-20141206-NIGHTLY)
i know, i know. this question was asked a thousand times before and most of the time the solution was simple. but it seems, like the xperia Z2 has a different reason for this behaviour. i bought the 16 GB Version a couple days ago and the Power of this thing is incredibly, considering i had a Samsung Wave II before.
installed a few apps like Instagram, Twitter, etc. and tried out some games. of course, running them was no struggle for this Flagship, of course. but soon, my storage was already full. After uninstalling the huge games and some smaller apps, cleaning up the leftovers, clearing the cache, rebooting...still "insufficient storage available".
Turns out around 7 GB of Storage were used by "other" files, says android. so i hit up "other", check every file in there, delete 'em, reboot - still the same problem.
next thought: maybe 16 GB just isn't enough for all the background data that comes together after installing a few apps. so i put a 32 GB micro SD in, tried Link2SD. which failed. would post a screenshot but i don't run Android in English.
Says something like "App2SD is not support by your device, because its primary external memory is emulated from the interal storage."
i'm not familiar with unix and it's data system, but to me, this sounds like a plugged in micro sd would be added to the internal storage. which would make linking apps unneccessary. but then, i wouldn't have this storage problem.
i didn't need to make a swap/linking partition on my SD card before, but maybe i need to do it for this phone.
downloading partition app...surprisingly successfully, tried to reformat, delete all partitions, create a big one for private storage and about 8 GB for the swap. failed. every app i tried just wouldn't work. no errors, just won't apply the changes. i tried it with the SD card mounted and unmounted. i made sure i was going to partition the SD card, not the internal memory.
this is depressing and really takes the fun out of a Overkill-Phone like this.
i hated the bloated and customized Sony UI on the original Firmware, but i didn't have a storage problem. but i shouldn't need to "downgrade" just because of this bug.
could it be the development progress on this phone? i'm running a nightly, but there are no stable versions yet. but this stuff worked with an unofficial port, on an really outdated phone.

I too have a Vonino Onyx QS tablet running on Android 4.4.2. The device is decent enough, but storage management is awful! Despite being advertised as an 8 GB tablet in terms of storage, the Onyx QS runs aground at about 900 MB of installed apps (including related data and cache) and starts yelling that there is "Insufficient storage available". This renders the tablet virtually unusable after installing just a few essential apps. Emails stop working, apps will no longer update and data-intensive apps such as Google Earth will simply refuse to run. The 32 GB external SD card I've added makes no difference. It's almost like the OS has no clue what to do with it.
I suck at Android. However, after a lot of digging for pieces of information I've come to undersand that these devices use separate partitions for the apps and other files. Some folks have also hinted towards the fact that the puny 0.9 GB app partition can be resized on a rooted device by means of a partition management app. Or apps could at least be moved to the SD card right before their installation (making use of an app such as Link2SD and, again, a rooted device).
This bring us full circle back to the OP's request: could someone please create and explain a rooting method for this tablet?
Just so you know, these are fresh screenshots of this fresh factory reset configuration. Thought it would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I'm writing this to let you, the OP and everybody else know that Kingo Root did it! I have succesfully rooted the tablet and the process itself was quick and merely a matter of installing the software on my PC, connecting the tablet via USB and clicking my way through.
Afterwards I installed Link2SD Plus to manage the transfer of apps from internal storage to the external SD card (32 GB in my case). The app is dirt cheap and truly what you need, because the free version does not allow you to move app data, only the app itself and its libraries. As I've come to know, data and cache build-up is what ends up killing storage space.
Before installing Link2SD however, one must prepare the SD card by means of a partitioning program. Highly recommend you do this via card reader on an actual PC. Use MiniTool Partition Wizard, it seems to be very popular these days. Delete whatever's already on the card and make two PRIMARY partitions: the first one will be FAT32 and will store the media you consume (like music, photos, videos etc.), while the second partition has to be ext4 (ext2 did not work for me on this tablet) and will hold the apps and their data. You can go ahead and name them "Media" and "Apps" respectively to avoid confusion. Remember: both must be primary partitions, the first one is FAT32 for media, the second is ext4 for apps. I made my app partition 10 GB big. Overkill, you say? Hey, I'm done with insufficient storage space errors, ok? :silly:
While you're at it, you might want to add a third partition for swap space to add more RAM to your device. There are tutorials for it on the web.
Once you're done formatting the card, reinstall it in the tablet, open up Link2SD and choose ext4 at the script mounting prompt. From there on, moving apps from internal to SD card space should be intuitive.

Hi, i have the same tablet ... and i managed to root it ... but i cant manage to increse the storage . l've done the exact stepts ... installed micropartition deleted my sd card (2gb micro sd samasung) i did the first partition fat32 primary with a size of 800 gb and when i try to make the second one ext4 the program says that windows cant see the second partion on a removable device but i continuued anyways ,,, and created the second one with ext2 and then with ext4 as primary ... my windows and my tablet cant see the second partion ... need a little help ... thx
I heave installed the drivers, and nothing happens. Its not connecting to my pc. I changed the pc too. I heave the error: Unfortunately, Mobile data has stopped. I tryed to repair this with recovery -- Wipe data, factory reset. Not working.
