Do we have the latest on a solution for this. At least once a day I find myself rebooting my phone or reinserting the sim because of this issue. What gives?
No not really

i stuck a piece of clear packing tape on it to hold it down to the lil tray, then trimmed the edges. worked like a charm.
Like SeaCaptain said, it's possible that it is too loose in the slot. You can try different techniques like taping a small square of paper to the plastic side of the card to make it thicker and push it more against the components, but just be careful that it is attached well. If it falls off while you're moving the SIM tray around it may end up being jammed and difficult to remove.
I cut my SIM down to micro size and I had the same problem. Ordered a new micro SIM (pre cut) and all is good. Might be a problem with the SIM

Just in case anyone cares, I took a piece of duckt tape and sized it to the metal part of the sim card tray. I had to press it down to make it shrink a little and fit in the slot. Seems to do the trick rather well. I haven't had any issues so far, and I don't constantly swap out my sim. I'll post again in a few days to let you guys know if this is a decent permanent solution. I think it's a lot easier than sticking a piece of paper in there.
I took mine back for warranty service for this, all they did was re-flash. Seems a little better, but still happens a couple of times a week.
Are we sure it's a hardware issue? Why would HTC reflash if it's the card not seated properly? Also, I find just going into airplane mode and back out again fixes it ... if it was a matter of the card not seated properly, I wouldn't think that would fix it.
I'm sorta hoping we eventually get 4.2, and that it fixes it for good.

OK so my card has been working great with no problems until about a week to a week and a half ago. Now it randomly uninstalls and gives me a warning message in the top bar that says " SD card unexpectedly removed. Unmount SD card before removing it to avoid data loss." When it does this I can no longer see my card in the phone file. I tried removing the card and formatting it in my computer and then reinstalling it. That seemed to be an improvement for about a week (I say seemed because it was a very short time). During that time it would sometimes mount and unmount on its own but always remounted.
Any advice is welcomed with the exception of dropping it in the trash.
I do not have another card to try but I would be willing if necessary to buy another. I just wanted the advice of others before I commit the money. Also does anyone know if the known issues with 32GB cards has been resolved? I may go head and get a 32GB class 10 instead if I have to buy one anyways.
Phone is running
Android 2.2
System version 4.1.83
Gingerblur 3.5 basic meaning I am running it the way it installs from XDA unmodded.
Memory PNY 16GB Class 10
There is a known issue with the contacts on the phone not "contacting" correctly with the SDCard. Some people have manually bent the contacts on the phone and solved this issue successfully. Personally I wouldn't want to do something like this myself.
How old is the card? Take it out and reseat it a few times, make sure it's getting a good connection. I have a few older cards that the edges have worn from taking them in and out of devices so much that they sit a bit loose. Could also be slightly malformed from the factory.
Same thing happened to me with a 16gb Patriot Class 10 micro sd in the atrix. I rebooted, shut down and reaseated teh card int eh phone, to no avail. Ive put it into a microsd to usb adapter tried in my comp and it wouldnt be recognized, after reinserting it a few times into the computer (running win7 64 bit), it had been recognized, but it said it had to be formatted, did so, yet the atrix still didnt recognize it at first, reinserted it a few times and than it worked, however i tried it several times in my laptop and desktop and at several occasions it wouldnt work, so i just filed for a RMA at patriot, describing the problem. Im just about to RMA the card tomorrow. After that ive put an older 8gb sandisk (class 4 or 6 i think) sd card in it and it works flawlessly again. So i just hope the 16gb card was broken and not that the atrix brakes cards ...
This happened a few days ago and I tried all the reseating and reformatting then and it mysteriously started working again. What Caelan says makes alot of sense as the very first time it happened I had the phone in my back pocket since the shirt I had on had no pocket. So I probably sat on it wrong and caused the problem. I have no idea how people are reaching inside the little metal cover and bending the pins with any degree of accuracy.
I do not currently have another card but I can take this one and stick it in my sons phone for a while and see how it does. That should tell me if it is the card at least. So what is Motos return policy...........anyone?

Don't know of any phone returns for this. People either try different cards till one works, (and they all will if you put them in and out enough times), or they bend the pins.
Personally, I kept putting my SDCard in and out, maybe 5 or 6 times, with the phone turned on, and then all of a sudden the card registered. No problems since, but I haven't removed it since either. The card I have has been in two other phones with no issues, reads fine on my PC, in a camera, in my spycam........only issues I had were with the Atrix.
It's not the SDcards folks, but if you keep swapping them out, trying different ones, of course it will eventually work.
I wnder if anyone has tried taking a piece of plastic shim stock and attaching it to the backside of the SD card to make it a little thicker? I work in machine tool repair on the electronics end but I have access to the shim material as thin as .0001". I may try a piece like 5-10 thousandths and see if just tightening up the spacing helps. I'll post back here in a few days if it helps.

You can't get shim stock .0001" thick. You can however get it .001" thick!
Good point added a zero didn't I? However if I look in the shim crib I bet I can find .0005" but it may not be the plastic. Either way I actually meant the .001 heh heh.
My phone started doing the same thing a few days ago. Did it once, then nothing for a couple of days. Last night it did the same thing a few times while I was asleep. A reboot fixed(?) it, but if I see it doing it more, back to the store I will go to complain.
OK so here is what I have doen so far. I pur a piece of plastic shim on the back of my card in an effort to se if just tightening it would work. It did not. I then took the memory card out of my phone and swapped it with my sons 8GB Sandisk. Both phones read the memory cards and are working. Makes little or no sense to me but I can use my sons 8GB but not my 16GB.
I am still open to any other ideas if anyone has any, with the exception of bending pins in my phone.
Well, hasn't happened again. I even used about 4 hours of nav over the weekend to really heat it up. Nothing. My bet is on a software glitch somewhere....
Started happening again today, and this time more than once. I think I might try and get a new phone....
In case anyone is interested it has been about a week since swapping memory cards with my son and my 16GB class 10 is still working fine in his phone and the 8GB that came with his from HTC is still woring in my phone. I don't know why or what happened but now I am afraid to spend the money on a 32GB card. Last call on ideas as I won't be updating this thread anymore unless the 8GB unexpectedly crashes.

Hi everyone,
I am experiencing a problem with my Samsung Vibrant. It keeps saying "Sim Card removed" and asks for restarting. It happen every 5 minutes or so. Any one has an idea in how to solve? Running CyanogenMod 9 Nightly Vibrantmtd.
Peace!
Maybe try cleaning the contacts on the card. Or you may have fired your SIM card with that crazy Haitian heat down there. Might want to look in to getting a new SIM card and see if that works out.
Thank you for response Woodrube. I didnt come back to the post because i have solved the problem. It was about the sim card reader on the board of the phone. I changed it and it worked like a charm. I sold it right after. I'm now on Galaxy S2. The haitian heat is something a man should try before he dies man. I hope you'll have that chance... lol.
Well, i really appreciate your help man.
Peace.

Hi, just wanted to add my own experience to this subject. My phone got a little bit wet, not submerged but just dripped on a little bit. Some of this water made its way into the back of the phone through the speaker hole and side slits. I compounded the problem by pushing the power button to turn it off instead of just pulling the battery; this caused the physical switch to suck some water in and short out, causing symptoms similar to a boot loop - put the battery in, phone immediately turns on, starts to boot, turns itself off just as boot animation comes up, repeat, until battery pulled. Long story short, I had to tear apart the phone, dissect the power switch, blot out water, and reassemble.
All good until I started right away getting 'SIM card removed, reboot phone' messages. Power down sometimes made it see the SIM again for a litle while, sometimes I had to pull the battery and jostle the SIM card and then it would work a while, etc.
I re-opened the phone after a week of this and discovered that while I was poking around inside, the ribbon connector for the SIM card / SD card reader daughterboard had become disconnected, on the hidden side of the motherboard (i.e. the screen side). I had to disconnect two similar ribbons on the battery side to be able to lift the whole assembly out of the case, push the SIM reader ribbon connector back into its receiver, and then all was well. I think it was only working at all because the being pushed up against the case was kind of holding the connector in place, if only in a janky way.
So, check for disconnected SIM card reader ribbon before ordering a new part. In fact, looking at the part online is what gave me the idea to check. I would post a link to the part, but as a new XDA user I'm disallowed until I make more posts. Google.
Thanks XDA for being awesome!

Hello.
I have problem with my Elephone P9000. When the network signal is poor, the network indicator loses signal for a few seconds and in this time, the message "Sim card has been removed" appears for a moment. After that, the signal turns back on (4G), very quickly switches to 3G, and this situation repeats after minute or two. I checked on other sim cards, and the problem is still present. I've done manual upgrade to 20160315, and it not helped. I wonder if it's hardware problem or the software has some bugs.

Hi,
I had the same problem... My p9000 has arrived just a week ago and since the beginning, several time per day, specially when the phone was in my pocket, it appended to lose contact with the Sim card and even with the SD card. I tried to put a piece of tape on the back side of the tray Sim holder... and after few days it seems work....if can be useful
Thanks, but this method did't work. I noticed, that phone loses network even when signal power is about 3/4. I'm writing to elephone right now.
I have the same problem, my p9000 arrived today.. after setingup everything the simcard cannot be read.
I tried multiple solutions none of them work. anyone already got the solution?
I had a small succes with 2 simcards but it lasted a short time
Greetz
Flashing Aerom V1 solved my problem.
Friend of mine received this phone yesterday and has the same issue. They keep getting this error every few minutes even when the phone is placed on a table so I reckon it's firmware related?

It doesn't. I received the OTA and I still have the problem.
It's strange. I installeg IMUI official rom, based on 0419 and still was fine, till i started to play with LTE bands. Disconnecting sim card problem appeard again. Then i flashed stock 0315, download OTA and problem has gone.
Maybe a solution with scotch tape on back of the sim card will be useful to you.

I have this issue after the upgrade also. I do not think its hardware related as the issue can pop up even when the phone is sitting on a bench.
I have 2 SIMs in the phone, and it seems to happen much more than when there is just one.
It feels like when there is multiple connections that the phone gets confused and drops out.
The phone drops out while on calls too, which makes it worthless to me.
Is it faulty? Should I send it back?
I have the same problem with my P9000.
It looks like some mobile data information seems to cause some kind of exception which will then drop out the SIM card.
I had the same problem. So I ordered another P9000. Problem solved, second phone works fine. I swapped the SIM card trays to verify, the problem (in my case anyway) is with the tray as the old tray causes the same problem in the new phone and the new tray works fine in the old phone (damaged/bent/bad batch/different manufacturer/sub-contracted? Who knows?). Wrote to Elephone (for a replacement SIM card tray), will see what they have to say.
(As a very unsatisfactory workaround, if you bend the tray very slightly (bend the middle down from the top) and insert it in the slot almost all the way except for the last 0.3-0.5mm (friction holds it in place), so it protrudes about the same distance as the buttons (so it looks like another button) then this seems to hold the SIM card in the right place. It is a bit tricky but do it right and it stays in place (a few weeks now, no problems). If you break it it is your responsibility not mine, though (let's see if Elephone will give replacements). Best solution I could come up with as the alternative is owning a $200 piece of plastic that does nothing. (now I have two (3 actually) dual SIM card phones. Lucky I have a lot of SIM cards.

I removed the SIM card tray because I wanted to swop the SIM's around. It has been several hours now with no drop out so it will be interesting to see how long it works before droppping out again. I didn't dare to bend the tray because knowing me I would have broken it!
Duplicated in error.

you can restore it with enginnering mode . its easy

Did you manage to get a replacement tray? I'm having this issue on a second p9000 I bought and can't seem to find a proper solution
I've had one drop out only since I removed and re-inserted the SIM card tray as per my post no #13.
I did inform Elephone of the problem but apart from a standard automated acknowledgement, I never had a response. What a surprise!
That's bad news. I've got a third p9000 and it's the only one causing problems. I've factory reset it and hope the seller takes it back as no matter what it won't detect the SD card in the first slot or the SIM card in either now. The QA on this sim tray is really bad. There aren't any compatible parts for the tray anywhere? Does the tray share the same design as say a p8000 or other elephone models? Or even a different phone entirely?
I have the same issue. I even had to remove the SIM pincode, because after the phone thought the SIMS had been removed and later found them again it keeps hanging on the SIM lock. This sometimes happens in my pocket without me knowing that i do not have a network connection at that time.
So how can we decide if it's hardware of software related?
Software: In my opinion this issue only came about after updating to the 20160419 ROM.
Hardware: Once the phone suddenly found my SIMS again after hitting it softly (softly, i swear).
I will be following this thread closely
I have the problem too, the First weeks I had no problem. Now it happens from time to time around two times a Day. I'm using Eragon 2.0.
So i was NOT touching my Mate 20 Pro and when i opened the flip cover case it had this notification saying Memory Card Unexpectedly Removed or sort of like that.
Problem is that i didnt even eject the sim/nm card adaptor nor was i even using the phone. Any idea why is this happening? Been using the NM Card for 2 weeks now.
I have the same isue. It happening about once a day or two

Same for me. I hope the NM card is not defective. It has been working for some month without issue...
Happens to me on the Mate 20 X as well. Really annoying
Same thing here. Just got a card two weeks ago.
It's possible it could be a software issue say for instance the powergenie application killing the system process for the card. I have uninstalled the powergenie but not got a card yet.
I had the same issue with my Mate 20 pro. I looks like NM card reader loose contacts. I used very thin double sided tape to stick my NM card to the tray. This will lift the card slightly and of course will create a tighter fit in the slot (the idea is to make NM card contacts press harder against card reader pins inside the phone) . So far so good. Message was appearing couple times a day, but now whole 24 hours and nothing. Tape must be very thin otherwise NM card pins inside the phone can be damaged while sliding the tray back in. I'll keep on monitoring. Hopefully it will solve the problem.

Exactly what I thought. The stupid aggressive process-closing practice killing something it should not be.
I like my phone but this core system "feature" is making me think about changing back to Samsung, or even trying LG maybe..
Four days now since the fix and no error message.

Anyone of u formated the card after insert?
I didnt and get so mouch notifications of unexpectedly removes.
So, 4 Days ago I format the NM Card .. and I got 0 Errors till now.
5 Days now without probs.
Same thing happens to mate 20 lite all the time.
Makes sd unusable...
Huawei Greece ia aware of the issue....
I get this issue regularly too. Seems to loose contact momentarily but on review have full access to files in card.
The tray for the SD card will not release using the supplied tool. This is the first time I've tried to use the slot, so not an issue with the tray being misaligned or wrongly inserted.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'm on live chat with Samsung right now trying to get an exchange. It's so frustrating, I've only had it 2 days and my initial impression of the device has been so positive.

Spent a very frustrating 45 minutes on Samsung's Live chat only to be given a telephone number to request a return note.
Couldn't get through on the number, so now waiting for a response to an email. Not very happy as I really want to get stuck in and enjoy my tablet.
My first try with the default pin doesn't confuses me as well....try another pin
UPDATE:
I ended up getting the tablet replaced b y Samsung Online Store.

5 weeks on from your post and my S7+ (black) arrived today, brand new from Samsung. SD card slot completely jammed. I have not been able to open it at all. Support lines now closed, so I'll find out about remedies tomorrow. A bit peeved that I'd finished seeing the tablet up from scratch and the card slot was the last thing to do. Grrr!
EDIT : Figuring that a return was on the cards and I had little to lose I applied a pair of pliers to the task, first to increase pressure A LOT on the ejection pin, and then to grip and pull on the card tray as it protruded about 2mm out from the tablet. It seems that there is rough machining/moulding on the metal edging of the tray. Once out I could feel the roughness. Having removed it once it is now possible to eject and insert with relative ease. Crisis averted.
Unfortunately I now have a little cosmetic damage on the tray where the pliers slipped. I've tried to colour it in, but maybe I'll ask for a replacement tray tomorrow.
Tab S7+ SDCard tray stuck in the tablet
Same issue with my Tab S7+. The SDCard tray stuck in the tablet. Used a set of forceps to clamp down on the tool and pushed down until the tray popped open enough to grab it with my fingers. Take your time, apply steady pressure.
After reading this thread I've try it on my device.
The first time it's goes a little bit strong. I was a little bit afraid, that I can broken something . I release a few times the tool and try it again. Suddenly the chassis released the try. Now it's working strong, but it's work. In this moment no Sim and no SD card is included.
