I just recently bought a new ONN micro HDMI cable from Walmart. When I fist used it, all was fine. Watched movies, listened to music, all was working great. But when I tried to use it hours later, no sound was displayed. After figgiting with the phone and tv a bit ( resetting both, and trying different settings), the sound worked for a bit untill I turned off my phone screen and hasnt worked since. I tried the phone and cable into two other HDTV's, an Emerson and a Vizio... I tried searching for a solution, but all I can find is people who's never got their sound to work. even at first use. And none had the Droid Razr, only Razr maxx
Details about devices
Flashed Droid Razr to Cricket. (not maxx)
50" LED TOSHIBA TELEVISION, 50L2200U
Micro Hdmi cable by ONN
Please help as soon as possible. Thanks
Edit:
When in first use, the phone muted itself and only played through TV, but now it plays sound through phone, and no dound coming through TV.

Seems like a rom issue. But i may be wrong
Well
Lets try this
Switch HDMI Ports
Try a different cable (if you have one)
Try to close all your other sound apps (music player etcs) when connecting the phone to the TV.
If nothing helps, well...i thknk you have any boot manager (safestrap, bmm)...
Try a different rom and see what happens

Yea.. I a noob with roms, I have a general understanding but my phone was flashed to cricket before I bought it. It has gingerbread 2.3.6... how would I go about safely flashing to different roms? I would like to keep all apps. And stay with my current provider..

Yo !
PM me and i'll tell you how to flash roms
There are some tutorials here - but i think that explaining things in a more friendly way will be nice
Right now its 2:19 p.m. here. I'm at work and i leave at 8 p.m.
if you want, you can talk to me trough facebook or msn and then we can go step-by-step on flashing - how 'bout that
or you can contact me on whatsapp (my phone number is on my profile)
Its pretty simple - just never forget to backup ur cid
also...i had the same problem of yours this weekend. But i've found out it was related to hw/sw decoding (using mx player) - switching between 'em and the audio returned. But it may be a rom problem, i don't know...it was very weird to be honest.
problem solved, flashed to a new ROM and HDMI worked perfect.. Now to fine a ROM I like.

No, it's not possible. If you have a dvd player or something that can accept a usb mass storage device, then you could play videos from your eris that way. However, our phone does not have the capability of doing video out.
If you have DLNA equipment in your home theater (or you have a home network that your laptop is connected to) you can use Twonky Server on your Eris & it'll show up as a media share in your network.
Twonky is in the market. I've used it for months & it's great.
You could plug the Eris in to charge it while it's feeding the video, too.
We are all looking into this I think, and The real awnser is YES!. If you buy a micro usb to video cable they sell them for the Samsun here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=454333
Now we just need a few good devs to look into making the tvout.apk and tvout.odex from the incredible to work for th Eris.
It should work if you get everything set up correctly, maybe using KAOSLEGENDARY rom. After it is set up and using the cable wih the correct apk's I think this is totaly possible

That's micro USB, our phone uses mini USB. Micro is too small - won't fit the Eris.

OK sorry I thought I had the right one here is the link I also uploaded it on the last post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=454333
htc touch must have android 2.2 or some video out put, because the youtube video shows the video out apk.
I have recently attempted to flash some roms on my UK "retail" Atrix.
And ended up with softbrick and returned it back to stock using the full retail.sbf.
Now the phone isnt recognising the dock, I have read this can manifest itself if its a Power issue but I have tried 2 different PSU's.
Any ideas pointers or hammer providers would be appreciated
Same here, but I'm running retail SEA. Funnily enough, I'm using the HD dock and the remote controls and the headphone jack at the back works, I'm just not getting the "docked" menu where you can choose what you want to do. Phone charges well though.
Hopefully then we will be able to get a fix sorted (o;
Did you manage to flash any thirdparty roms with a working webtop?

Hi,
I have the following problem with my Razr:
When i play the music over bluetooth it seems like i was using a old cd player without antiskip and hit him, is just a little jump but only happen on bluetooth, on headphones or speaker works great
Any idea of this issue? should i go a ask for warranty?
thanks
I get the same thing but it really seems to happen when I click something on the screen and the phone places the sound for clicking on an app or widget or something. Occasionally it'll happen randomly. Probably something that needs to get updated by Moto, I don't think it's anything wrong with your individual phone. Of course I have the Verizon Droid Razr but I'd imagine it's similar.

Yes i already went to my Cellphone dealer and that's what they told me, i'll wait until some fix get out.
A temporary solve for this issue is move all the music to the internal storage
Thanks for the help
I made more testing and it does not mater if you put the music on the internal or external memory the problem is the same we will need to wait for an update or custom rom without the problem
Thanks

same on my mw600.... I am experiencing dropouts during the playback... Its very annoying...
Same issues with my maxx on the latest update.
Haven't tried the wifi "off" option yet.
I use a satechi bluetooth fm transmitter.... the older one with the slide down front face and red digit display. Every other phone works great, even my bionic and SGN, and even slightly older phones.
Oddly I want to report the opposite, the Bluetooth on this works much better and has better range than my previous phone (Droid Incredible). Of course I've only tested it with a Samsung HM3700.
It fails with wifi off, does the every few second stop playing music, then start, then stop.... grrrrr

That's what I have.
droid razr bluetooth skip work around
I picked up a droid razr in feb 2012, and I the same skipping issue right out of the box. It only happend while playing through bluetooth. I found that mine skipped every time the data, 3g or 4g lte, sent or received. This happens randomly based on activity on the phone. I used an app called tasker to turn off my mobile data automatically, only when I was connected to bluetooth and my music app was running. This keeps it from skipping, but it prevents my from using pandora or streaming through google music. I've had many smart phones over the years and I have occasionally had this same issue with wifi, but never with 3g before. This leads me to believe that it's an issue with either with the hardware or software of this particular phone. Hopefully motorola fixes it. Hope this helps anyone out there with the same issue.

hi guys,
after abit of help. i bought a hdmi adaptor, from amazon this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007K8NNOA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00
so that i would be able to play content from my phone straight through to my tv. I also bought a new hdmi lead and i connected using the phone charger and lead that came with the phone.
When i plug it all together it shows on the phone that hdmi out is connected and i can display video or photos on the external device. But no matter what i do i cannot get a picture to display on the tv.
Am i doing something wrong? Or does it never work? I tried rebooting the phone i tested the hdmi lead to make sure it works. Is there another option on the phone i need to select to i need to use a different app?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Are you on the stock rom/kernel? I can't say I use this feature as much as I thought I would, but I have noticed some kernels break this feature (though I can't say which ones anymore - been a while) and I've seen some roms break this as well. I don't know if this was a placebo or what, but I also noticed that it broke for me after removing some of Sprint's or HTC's bloatware... I think it was the transfer app, but it doesn't make much sense to me why.
I'd try it on a full stock rom/kernel first to make sure it's not software related. Then try it on multiple TVs. I actually had an experience once where it wouldn't display on my TV, but worked fine on my HDMI enabled pc monitor - same symptoms you're describing. Tried different kernel, all was better. But I've also read about people just having a bad mhl adapter or bad hdmi cable too.
As above it needs to be supported by rom and kernal. Try a stock configuration and see what happens. If that fails it might be a faulty adaptor, these cheap ones are known to fail easily.
i appreciate your guys help. i am on stock rom/kernal. my tv is pretty new. The phone is showing as having a hdmi connection so wasn't sure if it could still be the adaptor? i will try it on another tv at the weekend. if it still doesn't work maybe send the adaptor back?
so it should display whilst playing a film through the stock video player? i dont need to use a special programme or anything else?
It automatically displays whatever is on the phone's screen. No need for anything special beyond plugging it in. It could still be a faulty adapter even though the phone shows hdmi.
Another idea might be to double check your tv out settings on the phone. Make sure those are correct.

Which ROM are you using? Most of the AOSP Jelly Bean ROMs don't have fully-functional HDMI outputs. I'm using Team Baked BlackBean, and it works fine.
i've not found a way to push audio through my micro HDMI cable either, im fully Stock. i havent tried recently though, i'll try now. also, i remember reading a post a while back saying it may depend on which cable you are using (im possibly imagining this though) i'll see if i can find the post.

What has worked for me on a couple of TVs that don't get audio is to turn the volume on the Prime to zero, plug in the HDMI, wait a couple of seconds, then turn the volume on the Prime up.
Bit annoying it doesn't seem to be able to always negotiate audio properly on some devices just by plugging the cable straight in.

Mabye its a connection problem. The cable-prime connection is a bit flimsy. I am also on stock and its works great with all players, but sometimes I have to move the cable a bit in the connector to get proper sound.

I am on stock and is having same problem sometime getting no sound. Just disconnect and reconnect the hdmi cable. You will get sound after 2-3 tries, at least works for me
Yup, same here! I just unplugged it and then plugged it straight back in and it works!
Ok I'll try that later on. Thanks again guys
like the other poster stated you need your volume to be turned up on your prime for audio to come over hdmi, weird I know but thats the trick.
If you're on a JB rom - from my own experience, it is unfortunately T.V. selective
The T.V. in the lounge was unfortunately unable to have audio out either, however the T.V. in my room had both the audio and video out without any problems.
Hope this helps.
I am completely stock. I have had to jiggle the HDMI connection with the Prime and the volume needs to be on; if it is off it's a no go for me.
Oh just an update guys. Never got it to work on one tv, worked on all others, so not sure. Must be tv specific for some reason..
