From past many days i m tying to figure this out.
i have windows update turned on.
i tried checking this on another USB port, but same doesnt get recognised.
i even tried it on different PC, it gets perfectly recognised there.
i checked Samsung Galaxy s2, galaxy ACE, desire C, but none of them could get connected.
in the device manager it shows an error "THE DEVICE CANNOT START (code 10)"
i even tried using ANdroid SDK drivers & also the SAmsung drivers on their site.
But it coudnt start,
Windows update also coudnt find a suitable driver for it.
Pls help ???

Attempting to update new Vibrant (Galaxy S) using "Unleash the beast v0.1" - post reboot my XP machine is asking for a "Gadget Serial" driver. I've been looking around for such a beast but not having much success. The phone is displaying a lovely "Do not turn off target!!" error too. Makes me a tad nervous.
Suggestions?

FWIW: This can be fixed by downloading "PC Studio" from Samsung. (This board isn't letting me post the link but you can search on the Samsung main site).
I tried installing that pc studio. Did not work. I have windows vista-64 bit.

Hi I'm new in this forum and new to Android also.
I'm having the exact same problem, when I'm trying to flash my phone (AT&T Captivate) back to stock using Odin3 One-Click Downloader my PC is asking me for a Gadget Serial Driver.
I already install ( a few times ) the Phone drivers downloaded from the Samsung site and my PC recognize my phone with no issues. My problem is when I'm in Download mode.
I have a Samsung Captivate rooted with 2.1 update 1 (JH7)
MY PC is running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
I will try the PC Studio from Samsung

It did not fix my problem. Is there another fix? Device manager even says that it is "other device" no drivers.
Try installing Keis mini. i had the same problem and that fixed it.

I have a Galaxy S2 and i'm stuck on this Gadget driver issue. So I googled, found this thread and started looking. I've now found:
Kies Lite (Samsung site)
Kies 2.0 (Samsung site)
PC Studio 7.blah.blah... (Some driver download site)
PC Studio 3.blah (Samsung site)
NEW PC Studio 1.blah (Samsung site)
Talk about f*&king confused!
Oh and Kies 2.0 never finishes installing, I suspect its in a look as it sticks on "Evaulating Launch Conditions"...

I tried all of the above but nothing working. I tried on 2 different computers. one with
win7 64bit the other with winxp. both had the same problem. the stupid gadget serial
driver.

I totally got it to work for my Galaxy SII
I remember putting my phone into some sort of usb tethering in the setting
so I just unchecked it and the drivers installed themselves
Settings> Wireless And Network > USB Utilities
and just push the connect to PC button and when you put your phone into Download mode the download wizard should install the drivers
Just so you wont switch..

None of that worked for me. Doing the following worked for me. Basically you have to tell your pc what kind of driver this "Gadget Serial" is.
Goto "Device Manager".
Find the "Gadget Serial" device.
Right click and choose select update driver.
select "browse my computer for drivers" and then choose "Let me pick the drivers to install".

I have installed Kies and the USB driver from the Samsung site. When i connect my tablet Win XP pings and says hardward found etc, but then the ping sounds again and i get MTP device error detected. The drive does not show up in My Computer Ive tried several drivers from google and none have worked. Tried the install driver option in Kies and same result. I get the yellow icon in device manager saying MTP driver not found. Its very annoying...
Ive read that XP cant support high power devices and patch is being worked on. But wanted to check if anyone knows whats wrong and has a solution please?
Go to samsung website.
Download the Samusung Kies and install it (it includes samsung device usb drivers)
once this is installed you can connect the Tab and it will be recognized as a phone with a USB storage.

go to the software.
and download the Kies for windows.
If that still does not work try downloading the actual total Samsung USB driver installation file found here

I just sat down to write all the details after reading all the threads available in google regarding error code 31 problem . Lot of blogs i refered but still my Problem is not solved.
So let me elaborate my issue . I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) . I never had any problems in connecting my mobile with windows 7. whenever i connect it , it gets detected and works fine till last month. But now suddenly my mobile is not getting detected in my PC. I cant transfer important files from PC to mobile. My mobile uses Android version 4.1.2
In the Device manager section when i try to view what is the problem , The device name is there in universal bus controllers with a yellow color exclamation mark . When i try to fix the issue and trouble shoot it , nothing seems to work .
WINDOWS CANNOT THE LOAD THE DRIVER FOR THIS DEVICE. Error code 31 ---> this message pops up. I tried to uninstall and update the driver , then also its not getting updated, it tells access is denied , contact ur manufacturer support for further assistance it is telling.
1)I have tried it in different ports
2) I tried installing the PC kies 3 from Samsung Page itself . installed Kies still device is not detectd.
3) Tried to fix this issue reading the previous threads and posts. not able to solve at all
4)Tried deleting the UPPER FILTERS .
The phone is charging well and is working perfectly. I tried to connect it with different cable (assuming its a cable problem) still no use.

it may looking awkward but try another data cable to connect it may work for u
Given it's more than likely (99.9999%) a Windoze problem, what exactly do you expect anyone here to do about it (or Samsung for that matter) ?

I have litterally looked everywhere before asking and none seem to awnser my issue that I'm having.
I have in the past managed to get my phone to connect on a Win 8.1 Machine, and I managed to root it. I also noticed today that my IMEI is Null/Void. However, when I've come to repair the efs my Phone will not connect anymore. No Drivers are actually installing, when I first plug the phone in I get no automatic driver install from Windows. I have installed the Samsung Mobile Driver V1.5.14.0, and also Kies Version 2. None of this seems to make a difference, I have tried pulling the battery, changed different cables and USB ports but doesn't matter if I reset or anything it won't pick the phone up all it will do is charge the phone.
I checked on USBDeView for the Drivers and even though I have run the Driver install's they do not appear to be installed on the list of drivers I have installed either under "Android,Google or Samsung".
Any help would be fantastic, and then after that I need to fix the Not Registered on Network Error! But one thing at a time!
So i am trying to root my device a Samsung Conquer 4G SPH-D600 verion 2.3.6 and im trying to root it on my laptop which was originally a windows 7 but then i downloaded windows 8. Anyways when trying to connect my phone with my cable it downloaded the drivers and after it downloaded it said the device cannot be recognized .......but yet it still charges and asks me for how i want to connect but when i go to device manager it says error code 43 now i downloaded the drivers off the site, uninstalled, re installed, shut off restarted changed the port. Ive done alot but alas i cannot get it to recognize and please don't ask me to get an original cord i wasn't the original owner of this phone so i cannot nor can i try on a different PC. JUST PLZ HELP ME!!!!!
