After that only sign (!) showing so I have to restart my machine
Either your update.zip is corrupted or you have the latest recovery installed -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12518067#post12518067
thank you
thank you i will try that
your problem "E: signature verification failed " is your recovery which uses signed update.zip from toshiba only..
see my FolioMod post #1 and follow link to recover a working recovery, that do not use signed update.zip.
update
Which is better?Folio mod 1.4 or folioblur 1.1?Or what is the difference betwen the two mod? I've a Huawei E169 3g modem is will be working with the 3g modem update or tried to buy Vodafone K3565 / Huawei E160 modem?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!
Hello, I bought ASUS Zenfone 5 three days ago, and I was trying to update it since I saw there were some new firmware released but I occurred in some very strange troubles.
I checked the net and I didn't find a solution for my problem.
My model is: ASUS_T00F
Android Version: 4.3
Base Band: 1419_1.4.22.2_0515
Kernel: 3.4.43-gf4c8a50 [email protected] #1 Sun Jun 1 04:23:52 CST 2014
Build: ASUS_T00F_CN_user_1.19.40.51_20190601_56281 5 release-keys 010175_201901130121
I didn't find this firmware in the whole net... and I wanted to change it.
The fact is that I CAN'T!!
There is no way to rename the file so that the system could read it as an update (I tried every solutions described on the internet).
So I went in droidboot and it says:
IFWI VERSION: 59.29
SERIAL NUM: -----------------
DROIDBOOT VERSION: 2.1 BUILD Jun 26 2014 11:52:00
PRODUCT CUCC_A500 (!?!??!?!?!?!)
I turn in recovery mode...
But when I try to change the firmware with ADB it always gives me an error
With 1.14 WW (I read that someone fixed the problem this way) it says:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:end of footer from /tmp/update.zip not 0xFFFF (File exists)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
E:Can't open /tmp/update-script.log
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
It gives me the same error also with 1.15 WW..
Instead with 1.16 both WW and CN it gives me the error of a wrong SKU, claiming that the mobile's SKU is CUCC:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Device image SKU: CUCC
OTA image SKU: CN (or WW when I use WW firmware 1.16)
assert failed: getprop("ro.buld.asus.sku") == "CN"
return code 8E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 8)
E: fota_return_code 403
Intallation aborted.
E:Cannot load volume /misc!
What can I do to solve this problem!?!? Can some of you help me??? I want to change my rom... (
Thank you

You were sold a Zenfone 5 with a CN rom installed, I'm not sure how they do it in china but what they end up doing is make the rom WW but the phone stays CN or CUCC, your case is a bit unique because they ended up flashing a CN rom over the CUCC, god knows why they'd do that.
What really confused me about your post was the fact that you can't change the name of the update file. I don't know what you mean as you can download the latest update which is 1.17 CUCC, extract it and you'll find another zip folder within and rename that zip folder to something like ASUS_T00F_CUCC_user_1.20.40.51_20200601_56281 5 release-keys 010175_202001130121 and put it into the root of the INTERNAL MEMORY not external. If you notice I renamed the folder with future dates and a newer version (1.20), in essence it would be a 1.17 but this is just to trick the phone into thinking its a new update. This has to be done because the person who flashed that rom into your zenfone put the version at 1.19 which doesn't exist, the latest firmware if 1.18 and its only available for CN, TW and WW. The latest version for CUCC is 1.17 and you'll have to use that to successfully flash your one. You wont need ADB I think. Remember that you'll have to rename the file with future dates and version, the date is located right after the underscore after the version (1.20.40.51_20200601 ). This is the only way I can think of and I think its the only way possible. After you've flashed it you can probably downgrade with ADB and flash WW. Once you flash WW with ADB it should make the rom WW and the phone WW so when you go to droidboot it'll say something like PRODUCT WW_A500. Make sure you download the right update file as there are different files for all the variants of zenfone 5(z560, z580).
Let me know if it worked.

just wanted to say thanks for putting an end for my 2 days of searching for a solution to this problem.
Good day, I have a problem with my Asus ZenFone 5 A501CG, after i reset the phone into factory setting using the Back up and reset option, after it restart the touch screen function was gone therefore i cannot continue the setup and i cannot use my phone.. please help me to solve this problem.. Thank You
checking the version image in android boot vol down + power button
Download the firmware version same as inside android boot...then try flash it using adb sideload..gimme results if work or not
I have rooted the device some time ago and now the lollipop update finally arrived.
I've used the original system all time long but when i try to update i get error, finally i've tried a sideload update and i can see the error. Now my problem is with this error:
Package expects build fingerprint of motorola/condor-retde/condor_umts:4.4.4/KXC21.5-40/46:user/release-keys or motorola/condor-retde/condor_umts:5.1/LPC23.13-34.8/10:user/release-keys this device has motorola/condor-retaildsds/condor_umtsds:4.4.4/KXC21.
Instalation aborted.
Now i believe i understand why i get this error, but my question is how to make it work. And what's the best method, by modifying the current software or by modifying the update.zip
PS. I'm an sysadmin not an android developer so please keep it simple.
Hi. My Moto E is giving me the same error as yours. Using Team Win Recovery Project, it says:

Thanks!
As the title says, I'm trying to install freecyngn from MaR-V-iN but keep getting the following error:
Install failed
finding update package…
openeing update package…
verifying update package…
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I followed the instructions in the official thread/readme carefully, flashed the latest 12.1 CM NightlyBuild on my Z3 Compact, didn't reboot, tried to flash freecyngn-flashable-cm12.zip but without luck :/
I have the feeling this new, downgraded CM-Recovery is to blame, cause the instructions speaks of CWM-Recovery.
Ideas?

Sounds like a recovery issue to me as well.
Hi,
I am using the Alcatel One Touch Pro 3 and had installed KingRoot to remove some bloatware. Once the bloatware was removed i tried to use Supersume to move to Supersu and it broke my root. I restored Android to factory settings, reinstored Kingroot, then it allowed to remove the root and the app.
I now however can download updates again, but when i try to install i get the following on my screen with the android dude and a warning logo:
Error!
Finding update package....
Opening update package...
installing update..
verifying current system...
"system/app/Browser/Browser.apk" has unexpected contents.
E?Error in @/cache/recovery/block.map
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
E?Unknown volume for path [@/cache/recovery/block.map]
E?erasing upade package failed errno=2
E? Unknown volume for path [@/cache/recovery/block.map]
Any suggestions on what i can try to fix it would be very much appreciated.
You have to be completely stock to get ota updates. That root option changed something in your browser so the update is failing.
