Hi I have 241MB free internal memory tho can't install new application which is only 440kB big. I don't understand this Why app which is less than 1MB doesn't fit in 241MB of memory? Anyway I'd need a solution how to free some internal memory then... Tried root cleaner pro but no free space, released ((
At least some app that helps me to discovet some disposable data would be useful. Can I delete dalvik-cache? It's pretty big.

move your apps to SD card and you're done
EDIT: you may tell me that you don't have any SD card but in Xperia P Internal memory (12Gb) acts like an SD card

I apologise if this a nooby question but I've searched and can't find anything. Is it possible to store the apps on the 16gb usb storage instead of device storage. I don't have a memory card cos i think the 16gb will be ample big enough.
Cheers

What do you mean? All your apps go on a different partition which is 2gb in size. I hope you are not talking about using apps2sd...

Oh rite thanks for clearing it up. Just on my old phone (n97) the device storage was different to the usb storage. If i use up more of the device will the phone run slower? Sorry for the questions just want to try and get the best out of the phone, thanks : )

well, the addiional 11GB of the internal memory is also mounted as "sdcard" (while the actual SD card looks like a standar folder on this partition called "external_sd"), but you won't be able to use it for applications via apps2sd... at least my stock rom doesn't allow this, that works only with the actual SD card.
Either way, the primary 2GB offers plenty of room except if you want to install the whole android market on it.
When I tried to install NavFree I got an error Not enough space.
So when you go to settings-storage it shows 3 different kinds of memories. 1 is external storage, the other one says phone storage 9gb and the other one says internal storage 2gb. what is the difference between the internal storage and the phone storage? Thank you!
I believe one partition is used for apps and such.

Phone storage is the ~10gb free space (internal sdcard)
Internal storage is the space for /data partition such as your apps and app data.

Is there a way to increase the internal storage space and decrease the phone storage? Idk why but it keeps telling me there is no space whenever I try to do some backup/restore stuff, although in the system it shows there is something like 2gb free space of internal storage...

Your not wrong, thats why your out of storage space. All your apps are stored on your phone and not on your external 32GB card.
400MBs is all the space you have left on your phone. Try moving some music and pictures onto your 32Gb SDcard.
I know it's low. But when 400mb is available, atleast an app of 5mb or 2mb should get installed na???

Your phone still require some memory to perform other stuff like cache. Try to move your media files to ext sdcard.

Closed, only post in one section, and make sure if its a question that it goes in the Q/A section.
I have just seen that my internal SD card only has 5GB free space left... But if i open SD card in explorer there is almost no maps and most of them is at 0kb size..
What is taking 11GB ?
You mean out of the box, your brand new S3 has 5gb left?

No not out of the box..
I have flashed many roms for the last 4 months.
But all games, photos etc... Is on ext sd card.
Go to settings / storage to see what is taking up your memory. Most likely miscellaneous will be the largest so click on it to drill down.

Clear the cache mate by going to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot
hello ....
i am using cm10 rom on my phone ...and i had installed int2sd+ on my phone to increase my internal memory. now my inbuilt internal memory (of around 150mb ) is not in use.. so in there any way to use that space for RAM. because it i need to increase my ram and this memory is faster than sd card...
thanks advance....

You can create swap partition and mount it with Swapper app from Play Store.
(P.S.: Your kernel has to support swap partitions.)
but i dont want to use sd card....as i have told my inbuilt internal memory is now free...because my phone is treating sd-ext as internal memory....so can i use inbuilt internal memory for swap....?coz it is faster than sd card.

Basically You can't use it, because it's not a linux-swap partition.
swap partition on sd card make my system slower is there any way to improve performance?

Any swap device, internal as well as SD card, will make your virtual memory slower. Using swap, is to buy virtual memory space at the cost of virtual memory speed. Also, in the general case, a Class 10 SD Card is about the same speed as the device's internal NAND storage.
