Or buy an Iphone 4s .
A great device. If you're not looking for ultimate death machines (One X), this is the way to go. Also the pricing is really good for the specs and the quality.

I have had my Xperia S for 3 days now and I enjoy it, much faster and smoother than my X10. The price point on the device was just right, ended up paying $550 taxes in on a buy out (no hardware upgrade to this phone available through my carrier at time of purchase).
No issues with the device at this point, the only thing I didn't like was not receiving any NFC tags in the box; and I find that pocket dust gets into the top space on the phone between the body and screen protector. I am looking at a soft case for the device that will prevent this, had one on my X10 and never had any pocket dust issues.
Overall I really enjoy this phone, the styling is top notch and the build quality is Sony through and through.
Thanks.
Its a good phone.. Its fast and can handle any app or game on android.. Build quality is really nice..
But some devices have got the yellow tint issue so check it out before you buy one..
Check at 50% brightness or less on a white background..
At Max brightness yellow tint is not visible..

Its a nice device. Pretty soiled and fun to use. Many people will ask about it, at least if you get the white one
Just an advice, buy it from a place that in case there is anything wrong with it you can return, repair or replace it (that goes to all the electronics tho) but I do recommend it very much.
From CA to Sweden is like from Microwave to Fridge. Maybe next trip, we will stop by, I have so much good things about it.
Good luck.

5" Full HD. wow. I don't think it will be sold outside china.
I'm planning to buy one of these incredibly cheap FullHD phones, too
The are the Neo N003, the UMi X2 and the iOcean X7 (favorite). Of course you can purchase them from outside of china with aliexpress or Taobao agents (+Commision fees and shipping). Still a BIG BANG for the buck!
The are not available, yet. But soon (end of March or beginning of april). Please do not Pre-Order! The prices are much higher than (80-100% more) in china and never ever pre order with aliexpress! Only order when it's really available.
I hope that a lot of developpers will get one of these phones, too.

Looks good but how can I compare this with mainstream products?
I've order one from aliexpress for USD 235, a lot pricier but within range with all mediatek quad core phone there. The seller promised early April.
From the specs, look like a promising phone eventhough it look like oppo find.

Got mine a couple days ago. Running miui v5, tried a couple of the other roms floating around. Does not come rooted, but is easily rooted. All roms tried so far have a little difficulty pushing video to the fhd screen but its not terrible, just a ms of latency during complete screen changes - in non-swipey activities its perfect. Am in Canada, and the only cellular carrier it will connect to (via 2g) is Rogers. The thin plastic case makes the phone feel very light, but it is a very attractive phone, especially with the bright hd display. The backlight behind the soft keys (menu, home, back) is a little dim and maybe not centered properly on my unit.

Nice to see someone who speaks english and has the Elite version. I want to buy one and just need some feedback on a couple of things. 1st is it really an OGS screen (laminated) so you dont see the LCD diplay light leaks like the Youth version and does the back cover have gaps (not tight fiting) like the Youth version and lastly whats the battery life like on it plus camera quality both audio and vdieo??
I will appreciate your feedback as it will go a great deal in making me decide on whether to buy it.
Thanks
I have the Youth version, but have 2 more bright spots on the display at the lower right corner. It's very disturbing. I can send the phone back, but will take about 2 months to send forth, repair and shipped back, so I'm confused what to do.
does anybody know if there is a cwm or twm for iocean x7 hd? any suggestion for root or custom rom?thanx

So I have a Galaxy Exhibit 4G and am thinking of upgrading to the L9 on T-Mobile. I have a couple questions about it however.
1. Is the screen glass? I have a plastic screen now and would like it if it was glass.
2. How fast is it on the stock rom?
3. How do games such as temple run run on it?
4. Would you buy it again?
5. How is the camera?
Thanks for your time.

1. It's IPS LCD, but I'm sure it's not Gorilla Glass or anything.
2. It's pretty fast. No complaints from me whatsoever. Maybe it's faster in the jb update. I don't know.
3. Smooth as butter. The big screen is nice. Even GTA 3 works fine, except in case of an explosion or anything, it labs a bit, but adjusting the display settings can make it much less laggier.
4. Can't say. Probably no, because by then much better phones with better specs would have come in the same price range.
5. It's "OK". Not too great, but not amazing either. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't find zoom in the ICS stock rom...

The US P769 has gorilla glass. The other variants do not as far as I know.
The stock rom on t-mobile has a ton of bloatware, it does however run great after disabling bloatware.
Games run great, no problems so far.
I'd probably, given the choice again, spend a little more money and get a nexus 4. T-mobile offered me this phone free as an upgrade though.
Camera is alright, not the greatest.

Thanks for your feedback! I am leaning towards getting one as I think I can get it pretty close to stock using Nova launcher and other such stock apps. I probably wouldn't root it right away so hopefully there is a way to disable most of the apps. Or I could use Greenify.

its a good buy under $200
I just bought a tmobile lg optimus l9 p769 today. I had read this thread before buying.
Anyways here's my impression after some back ground info. I recently sold my google lg nexus 4, one to get my money's worth while it's still a hot ticket. IMO it's a boring phone. I am hoping and waiting for google io and the possible release of the motorola xphone.
So I went and bought a motorola atrix hd to get a feel of what's to come. Good phone, good feel.
Anyways I just picked up the L9. Again it's impressive. Clean, light, the IPS screen has no iqual. It's so bright and clear. The phone is so light. Even stock it's very responsive. Camera seems iffy, im in a dimly lit room annd its all grainy. Front facing seems above average, good for video calls and looking behind your back or at yourself.
Hardly anything posted in accessories. It's bootloader unlockable, rootable and sim unlockable. I'm using it carrier locked stock on straight talk with tmobile byop sim. Works fine. Set apn and get hspa:15 4G.
IMHO it's a decent buy as a used phone and won't disappoint. The guy I bought it from only had it for 2 months in a bodyglove case, no screen protector and it's in mint condition, not even a swirl on the screen.

It has no stereo speakers and it is 2 mms wider than the Z2. Also, the battery is compared to the Z2's battery quite small, especially if u regard the larger screen and the faster cpu (2,5Ghz vs 2,3Ghz).

The One Plus One looks a bit tacky to me....I don't really like how the camera isn't flush with the body. And I prefer unibody.
Of course that price is awesome, but the size is ludicrous. Even the z2 is borderline size wise..
Unless Cupertino pulls something out of the bag this year (quite possible), xperia z2 is easily phone of the year for me.

Only cons aganist z2 is, not water or dust proof, wee bit smaller battery, no micro sim card slot and also glass body.
3100 mhz battery vs 3200 mhz not a big deal at all. that battery will last you whole day if you are not playing with your phone all the time.
external micro sim problem can be solved by paying £40 extra and get the 64gb version.
glass body for me is a con if you drop your phone it shatters and you cant use it.
if the z2 price down to £400 in august I can go for it otherwise will think about it

No hope for the LG G3?
Specs are one thing, but how it all performs is still an unknown. Could be super amazing or just good value.
I have used Cyanmod in my Samsung Galaxy note 2 it is supercool ROM and if you have those specs with that ROM it can fly you up to the sky. I was checking the price actually it doesnt even cost £249 or £299 it cost only £178 for 16gb £209 for the 64GB this is a bargain.
I will definitely give it a go once it is released.
Founder of the company is the ex vice president of Oppo. Oppo find 7a has got similar features but on system chip, memory and ram oneplus one beats it. and Oppo find 7a cost 400 euro which is £350.
This phone might sweep the market off.
If you check the link below you will see the OFFICIAL pricing which is an image taken from the Oneplus one invitation conference at 7:30 am this morning in beijing.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/OnePlus-One-release-date-and-price-unveiled_id55452
Still great prices though
OnePlus is doing a good thing by putting price pressure on the larger OEMs.
But looking at the differences with the Z2:
1. No IPxx certification.
2. Lesser camera
3. No MicroSD
4. Marginally smaller battery
5. Not sure how Google Play (and services like Chromecast) will work on their ROM
6. Not sure about device reliability and support from OnePlus
I would still rather pay a bit more for the Z2. But this is my own preference.
I think the 1+1 might have an IP cert because in their promo video it shows a bunch of phones being sprayed with water. This probably means the cert isn't as good as the Z2's IPX8 and I haven't seen what their official cert is (if indeed it exists at all), but they seem to be promoting it as at least water resistant.
Personally, the Z2 is about as large as I can handle, and the 1+1 is even larger and made by an unknown company, so I am sticking with the Z2.

Hi,
I'm planning to upgrade from a Nexus 5 to a Sony Z5 compact.
But I've been in the Nexus family for a long time (Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5 in that order. And I've used the Nexus 5 for almost 2 years). The Galaxy Nexus was the most comfortable smartphone I've used, and the Z5 compact is even smaller, with 65mm of width will be more comfortable.
I have some doubts about Xperia's Lollipop:
1) Could you tell If there are real differences between Google's Lollipop and Xperia's Lollipop?
2) Can I just "disable" all the Sony system apps, and install Google Keyboard, Calendar, Keep, Photos, (maybe Camera too, but don't know about that)?
3) And what about the stock Google's Phone and People/Contacts applications? (I assume these apps can't be replaced with the google ones, in that case, Is it possible to at least use Google contacts sync as default?).
And some other doubts about the phone itself:
4) I don't use screen protectors with Gorilla Glass 1/2/3 screens. But this new Sony phone includes "Chemical tempered glass + Anti-fingerprint coating", Is that a good glass?
Please consider that, I don't care about the scratches that are only seen when the screen is off and the sun is impacting directly on the screen.
If you had/have a Nexus and the opportunity try/have a Z3 compact or another similar Sony phone your experience will be appreciated!
Thanks!
I have a Nexus 5 and a Z3 Compact. While I prefer the "pure" Android experience of the N5, the Z3 Compact performs as well, if not better, has about three times the battery life, and fits better in my pocket. You will have Sony bloat, many (not all) of which can be disabled. There are a few Sony-specific icons (e.g. Settings) as well. You can use all the Google apps you want but you cannot replace the stock apps unless you root the phone. Overall, the Z3C is a great phone and I plan to purchase the Z5C as soon as it's available.

The Nexus are getting pretty big for me. The best size in a Nexus was in the Galaxy Nexus (without tpu).
Also tried the original Moto X, that phone fits perfect in the hand.
Did you try "Google Camera" in your Z3C? Is it recommended as a default one?
I don't use Google Camera. Sony uses some proprietary stuff on its camera processing so to get the best results I use the Sony Camera app.

new n5 is supposed to be $400 USD which is just over $500 cdn (might be lower $450 like the ps4 is here)
Canadian dollar is taking tanking right now.... and sony doesn't make our easy to buy their phones here...

Well I would think that it would make much more sense to compare the Canadian price of the Sony phone vs the Canadian price of the Nexus. UK and mainland Europe gets completely screwed over in pricing but that's not the case for North America.

cant do that cause sony wont be officially be releasing the phone here....
The Z5C in Amazon.de costs about 550€ (preorder).
I think it's the best deal so far (in Europe).
To that price you shall rest European V.A.T. and taxes and convert from EUR to USD to get some "similar" price version of a USA's state that hasn't taxes.

The best deal has to be clove.co.uk @ £430 including a pair of sony BT headphones. Even if you don't want the cans, they will go for £30 so think of it as a rebate. I was lucky enough to pre order my Z5C from them in the two hours it took for them to correct the price from £399 back to £430. I am assured that they are going to honour the deal. Win! This has ended my wait for the unicorn that is the saygus V2....
Should I cancel my Carphone Warehouse preorder and buy direct from Sony? Which has better customer service? There's only a £10 difference between them once postage cost is taken into account. So it's all about the customer service. Anyone share any good/bad experiences with these retailers?
Alternatively, read the above post.

I'm desperate to get it ASAP and both Sony and CPW will start deliveries on 29th September as opposed to the week after. I don't mind paying a little extra for the privilege of a week earlier delivery as I already have some decent Sony headphones that probably outclass the ones being bundled in by Clove.
I've got a Coral one on preorder currently but I can't decide whether I prefer the Yellow that's exclusive to the Sony store. It's hard to know what they really look like when the colours look different whether I'm looking at Sony's website or pictures taken by tech websites for hands-on previews.
Well, mine has been dispatched from clove. They honoured the price error so I have the phone and Sony headphones for £405. Bargain. Let's just hope it doesn't melt into a useless peice of electronics in my hand, as reported by many unscrupulous websites who seem to have all jumped on the bandwagon after one questionable video was released by one person in China. Great way to get YouTube hits...

Hi,
1) Could you tell If there are real differences between Google's Lollipop and Xperia's Lollipop?
Something Like SmallApp & Xperia Home as Launcher
Also some extra features like Call Motion in Setting & White-Balance & Xperia Theme...
2) Can I just "disable" all the Sony system apps, and install Google Keyboard, Calendar, Keep, Photos, (maybe Camera too, but don't know about that)?
YES
3) And what about the stock Google's Phone and People/Contacts applications? (I assume these apps can't be replaced with the google ones, in that case, Is it possible to at least use Google contacts sync as default?).
Yes when u set ur google account all data from ur account will sync to ur phone
4) I don't use screen protectors with Gorilla Glass 1/2/3 screens. But this new Sony phone includes "Chemical tempered glass + Anti-fingerprint coating", Is that a good glass?
Please consider that, I don't care about the scratches that are only seen when the screen is off and the sun is impacting directly on the screen.
Yes the Glasses & Display itself on Xperia devices are really premium materials

:good:
Its around ten pounds for a glass screen protector. That's got to be worth investing in. Whether the screen is off or not, scratches are just plain upsetting. Its a damn sight easier to peel off the protector and put another on than replace the digitizer.

Well I have just faffed about with some AR stuff on the camera and then shot some timelapse video and it got to about 40 deg C. Thats fairly hot by my reckoning. That was without my bumper case on. The device even felt it fair to warn me it was gonna get toasty.
Nexus doesn't have the AR stuff so unfortunately I can't compare but the 810 ran a few degrees cooler in 3DMark consistently compared to the 800. This was repeatable.
