Hello All,
Is there a way to install this fix without using CWM? ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867901 )
I have a xperia neo v ( ICS 4.0.4 / 4.1.B.0.431) already rooted with the script method (doomlord), busybox and superuser latest versions,
I'm looking for a more "manual" method, replacing files with root explorer or something like that, i don't want to mess with my phone installing recovery's at this time
Any Ideas?
Regards
I'm not sure if you can do it that easy if you have odex rom (stock sony not custom deodexed rom)
Just install CWM, you will find it useful

I think you can push all the files in /system/framework folder via adb and set proper permissions, but it's safer to install CWM. You can backup your phone and restore everything if you end up with a bootlop.
To install CWM is needed unlock the bootloader right?, I don't wanna unlock the boot at this moment,
ROM manager app will work without CWM installed?
you don't have to unlock bootloader to install CWM, just root your phone, download X-Parts from Play Store and use it to install CWM.

Firstly make sure that you have deodexed your rom else you will have bootloops.
Then download the zip file and check the contents of the updater script. See what the updater script does and accordingly do the same manually using a root browser.

I installed SFM 3.0 [as per instructions] and have not been able to get root access for Titanium back-up, which means I lost root access.
How do I re-gain it without going into recovery, wiping, and installing another rom?
Thanks.
this also happened to me, its a common problem with this rom.
go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317368
scroll down to where it says superuser installation and click on the link and download the file.
then obviously place file on sd card and boot into recovery and install it (i dont think you need to do a factory reset or wipe cache or anything like that)
then just make sure you have the latest superuser from the market and then everything should be fine

Hi! I want to install a Custom ROM on my X8
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101691
But, when I download the file, it's an update...
Since I have Android, the Costum ROMs I always intall them from "Backup and Restore"
Sorry for by a NOOB, but, really I want to install that ROM, but I dont know how...
Somebody help me? I dont know if I explaind good....
THX
Have you rooted your device? If not, search the web for how to root your X8.
Yeah man, my X8 it's rooted... but I don't know what direct relation is beteween root and intalling the ROM with xRecovery...
My question again, in other way
When I download the CROM, the only file that I have is a "Update.zip", so, this is an update from the main crom? or I install it with "Install custom rom" on my Eclair? (the ROM it's GingerBread)
THX
(CROM = CUSTOM ROM)
The update.zip file is the ROM. Make sure you back up anything you want to restore to the new ROM (apps, SMS/MMS, etc.) before booting into xRecovery. Also, once in xRecovery, back up your current ROM before flashing the new one.
Okay, so, I have to install this "Update.zip" on my Eclair (2.1) using the option of xRecovery called "Install update.zip from SD Card"?
After, make the full-wipe and reboot?

NO !!! First you need to download and install a Busybox. Its an app which could be download from Anrdoid Market. When AM install it, open the app and click INSTALL BUSYBOX (it ask for root perms- you need to click allow). Then Boot your xRecovery and click Apply Update from sdcard. When its ready do full wipe and then boot your phone with new rom
hey guyz.....i have successfully flashed n rooted ddkq8 on my phone....now problem m facing that whenever i use titanium backup to uninstall any system app after uninstall phone just reboot itself..or if i use root explorer to add or delete any app in system folder phone just reboot after adding or deleting.....never had this problem with any previous rom......????phone is rooted with simple update.zip file no cf root or any script flased.....
i am not facing this i am on same version.
how did u root ? 1st cmw or 1st root ?
The reason is that the root is very unstable on ddkq8 .i m facing same prob. U too must hav rooted via the good old update.zip method via cwm? If yes. Then try cfroot method

Flash this in recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677224
Make a backup before flashing in case it goes wrong.
Can I install this manually?
Like move to system and change permission to rw r r and then copy to system app folder.
Will it work?

It should work, but you should make a backup before trying it so you would need a recovery anyway.
You might want to try the recovery for locked bootloaders if you don't want to unlock your bootloader.
If you still want to try it without a recovery, then yes, you can try installing it manually, but it might just fail and you will be unable to use your phone. And if you don't have a backup this would mean reflashing the stock firmware, rooting, installing Xposed, all over again every time it fails, because if you get a broken SystemUI, you cannot use your phone at all.
If you really want to proceed, then do the following.
First, you should install the Serajr Xperia™ Xposed (KK) module. That's correct, it's the KitKat version but it will run in Jelly Bean with the KK SystemUI. You need it for the so called super user mode. Enable the module, but do not reboot yet.
Then, delete both /system/app/SystemUI.apk and /system/app/SystemUI.odex, move the new SystemUI into /system/app, clear application data, and reboot.
I haven't tested this, I only installed it through recovery and clearing Dalvik cache afterwards, I can't guarantee this would ever work. You should be able to do it, but be prepared for it to fail.

I'm using this one for all xperias. Works nicely so far.
If I want to Install it manually then do I have to do that build edit too?
Or simple download files and do that system app things?

If you do not unlock your boot loader, I think updates will still work. I'm not sure, though.
Why don't you go with a custom ROM. Maybe you should try a ROM with 4.4 itself
Hey,
So I just bought a new Colors X-Factor X26 wave today. The rooting process was very easy as I successfully rooted it with Kingo ROOT.
Now I want to use the in2ext script to increase the internal memory of the phone, however there is no recovery installed on the phone
I tried using ROM Manager for installing CWM Recovery but it was not supported..
So, Is there any method to install CWM or any other custom recovery on my phone. BTW, there was no pre-installed recovery
Or, I could even use help on any other ways to increase the internal memory.
Cheers..

You can try mtk droid tool to make cwm recovery for you device ....
If you uncomfortable with this then you have to copy paste scripts manually and need to set required permission to copied files as described in updater script of that mod
