I flashed my phone from twrp to the new Verizon update that was recommended here. But now my phone is flickering every 20 seconds or so. Any ideas? thanks.
Sounds like you are using an old kernel on the new update

You need to run a 2.04 kernel with a 2.04-based ROM. Running a 1.15 kernel with a 2.04-based ROM will cause the flickering, so you need to pair a 1.15 kernel with a 1.15 ROM or a 2.04 kernel with a 2.04 ROM. What Kernel/ROM combination did you flash?

The file I used was from the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38015322
which should be: DNA-OTA-Stock-Rooted-2.04.605.2 710RD.zip
And from my phone: the kernel from Settings>About>Software Information>More is:
---------------------------------------
Kernel version
3.4.10-g4d47dce
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Build number
2.04.605.2.CL147796 release-keys

Also note: The pop-up that still keeps popping up on my phone from StupidVerizon that it wants to upgrade to is:
HTC6435LVW_2.04.605.2-1.15.605.4

I was wondering if it is normal for the kernel info under About-Software-More to always stay the same after a new kernel has been flashed? I have installed NilsP Business ICS (both 3.6&4.0) and both times the kernel says it is installed correctly but the name is unchanged when I look in setting under About-Software-More. My kernel always says: 3.0.16-hd0049f1 [email protected] #1 smp preempt. Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Alex

if you are s-on then you will need to flash the kernel out side of recovery. so unless nils rom installs then automatically rebooted you to hboot to finish the kernel wasnt installed.
i know he has in the second post the different kernels that are out. pick one, rename it to PH98IMG.zip and place it on root of sd card.
reboot to hboot and let it install.
done.

Yes, I have done that and It successfully completes. I guess my concern is how do I tell I am running the correct kernel? It appears to me that the kernel name does not change when I look at about phone-software info-more then read the kernel version. Mine currently says 3.0.16-hd0049f1 [email protected] #1 smp preempt. I just installed business ice 3.6. Since I do not have S OFF will the phone display the default kernel even though one has been flashed over it?

as long as the kernel says 3.0.16 and the build number is 144 then they havent changed anything from the last 3 leaks.

Okay, I'm just used to seeing a lot of Roms go with a custom kernel option. Coming from a rooted dinc, I used an incredikernel with a lot of the custom roms I used.I was concerned because it displays the exact same kernel as the ota ics update put out by Verizon. Do a lot of developers stick with stock kernels for rezound roms?

i came from the inc too. the reason there isnt that many options is because we dont have source for ICS yet. so as far as i know the .10 ruu is the latest kernel and the other 2 leaks that came after are still using that kernel.
once source drops we will see kernel development.
Thank you very much! I didn't realize we didn't have the source code yet. I really appreciate your help.

Are you using the right kernel and not a jb one? What does it do when you try to flash one, we need a little more info.
My apologies.. It was booting to a black screen.. I think I realized the problem, tho when zarboz kernel was updated to work with the new base. Maybe I'm wrong, I still have a lot to learn here... But it flashed and booted..

Yeah most of the kernels we have are for the old base. Have to make sure the bases match.

You don't need to flash a kernal with MR 4.0 and higher just run the 4.3 zip and go and 4.4.2 is OC'ed @ 1.89 and 4.4.3 is OC'ed @1.79 using EvilZ kernal baked in
Ok I just thought it wasnt there because in the settings about phone the kernel version never changed. So is there a way to change governors with this kernal?

4.4.4? If so did you flash the OC on zip? You might be running the stock kernel instead of the custom..
I'm currently running an unlocked, S-On rezound with HBoot 2.11 and I'm currently running ViperRez with Kernel 3.0.16.GD0048F1. I'm obviously using the GB firmware patch whenever possible but the GB Firmware patch doesn't work with AOSP roms, and i CAN install the AOSP roms without it, but it won't recognize the SD Card and i can't mount the internal one either.
So what's the best way to get to HBoot Firmware 2.27 so i can start installing newer JB roms?
You'll have to re lock the bootloader and run an RUU to update your firmware
This will bring you to the ics ota official

1) None of those download links work, and any that do point to a camera fix, not anything about the rom itself.
2) What about the mention of being fully stocked? I'm running a custom rom and the last time i tried

Here this one points to the global ics leak, the dl link works and it doesn't matter what rom you are on, it will be overwritten with the stock one. Once your firmware is updated you will need to unlock, flash a recovery, then flash a rom of your choice

Actually through more rooting I found the right updates VERY DEEP in some other thread.
the post here it here in case anybody comes upon this thread and has the same question:
Hello! I am new to xda-developers forums as far as posting, usually I'm more into reading and searching for answers. But I am having no luck this time! I am very sorry if the answer is somewhere on here, but I couldn't find it.
Using my Sprint HTC Evo 4g LTE, I just got done successfully running the DirtyRacun S-Off for Hboot 2.09. I was interested in running a combination of the MeanBean 2.7 rom with the ElementalX 1.2 kernel. However, I don't know if the kernel is actually installing or not. When I check the kernel version in Settings > About > Software Information > More, I am seeing:
Kernel version
3.4.10-g014d33e
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Unfortunately I forgot to check the kernel version that came with MeanBean before I attempted to install ElementalX Kernel in TWRP as a .zip. Is this kernel version its displaying ElementalX or the kernel that came with MeanBean? If I have actually failed at installing ElementalX, could someone please guide me through installing a kernel of my choice using the MeanBean ROM?
Thank you!

Stock.Kernel.1.15.605.4.S-OFF.zip
Stock.Kernel.2.04.605.2_710RD.S-OFF.zip
Can someone please clarify what's the difference between files that have S-OFF in the name and those that dont. I understand that ones with S-OFF are for users that have S-OFF their phone, but WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE between the files? Are the ones without S-OFF in their name were modified to allow system write? More importantly, were the S-OFF files modified in any way?
Also, how do we install these? Are these flashable zips that can be flashed in recovery? Or, these needs to be boot.img flashed first and then modules in recovery?
Thank you

The ones that don't have S-OFF are for flashing the old way using fastboot commands. They are different in the fact that the S-OFF versions have a script that will flash the boot.img and the WiFi Modules.
Zone23, thank you for the info. So, S-OFF are to be flashed straight via recovery without any additional steps. Where these kernels modified in any way or are they truly straight from the factory image?

If you are s-off you can just flash the s-off version and it will update the boot.img and modules
If you are s-on you will have to manually flash the boot.img in the bootloader and then the modules.zip in the recovery

So like a bone head, I flashed this kernel despite being on viper 1.1.3. Already on new radio. Works well from what I can see so far. With s-off, I can write to system. Battery life so far seems quite good, similar to LK, etc. No crashes, wifi and radio work fine. Any specific problem you are aware of with new kernel/ pre-ota based ROM?

Interesting. Let us know how it works out for you. Perhaps the real incompatibility is using an old kernel (1.x) on a newer (2.04) rom (reports of flickering screens, broken wifi).
Sounds like using a 2.04 kernel on an older rom is ok.
Unfortunately, that means that until source is released, we won't see the variety of kernels that will work in the newewr, 2.04 based roms that are being developed now.

So far so good. Again, I have the new radio, new kernel and old ROM (viper 1.1.3). Only thing that crashed/hung was kernel tuner, not surprisingly. I froze that and disabled loading of kernel settings with system tuner and all smooth.

Why is this so confusing?
I am rooted with S-Off and unlocked
I did not get the OTA.
I did install the new radio only (1.01.01.0110)
Can I install the 2.04 s-off version though TWRP?
I guess the confusing part is being pre-ota and not wanting to brick or wipe my phone, while having the updated kernel and modules.
