I've bought a Samsung SGH-I717 locked with Rogers that's was working perfectly with my Koodo sim on LTE. Here's what happened. I was doing all right, starting by unlocking my phone (First success!). Rooting my phone (Second success!!). Installed CWR (Third success!!!) Why stopping there? I wanted to install LiquidSmooth JB. So, I've started the installation following every steps to the letter. Restart the phone... Hello? No more phone. Just got a nice brick...:crying: So, as a humble guy, I sent it to an unbricker. Don't plan to brick it again so to pay for the JTAG won't have been cost wise. I got my phone back (less 85$ ) but...with the AT&T rom (4.0.4). My problem is that my data isn't working anymore. The WIFI works fine but I won't see the LTE logo next to the WIFI one and as soon as I close the WIFI, no more data. I've tried the plain reflash from Kies. It worked, for the flash, but didn't resolved my data connection issue. I've turned on every things in the Wireless settings, it's not from there, I'm sure. Packet Data and roaming are checked. So, what can be my problem? Just to be sure, do I have to use AT&T rom from now on? No more canadian stuff? Thanks from a desperate guy...
You can install CWR and flash Canadian ROM. The ROM will be already rooted. That liquidsmooth ROM broke lots of phones. The ROM was actually for an S3.
It's worst now. :crying::crying::crying: Since the phone was unrooted, I want to root it again. I've followed this steps : droidgator.com/root-att-galaxy-note-sgh-i717-running-android-4-0 and now... It will only boot up to the Samsung logo. I can at least access the download mode. I'm so [email protected][email protected]$ tired of this.

Ok so I've been reading around in a few threads about this but haven't quite found a solution in my case and I think I need a second opinion. I've also posted in other on going threads but it just gets lost in the rabble so.... it now gets it's own thread.
Bought a brand new Bell SGS2 from a dude on Kijiji. It was brand new, still in the box with the plastic all on it. I SIM unlocked it (which required rooting it) and dropped my Rogers SIM chip in.
I can send/receive txt's but 3G data drops frequently and usually happens once I initiate a data session. My test case uses SpeedTest. I've only seen it complete a full test cycle twice... most of the time, it will get the ping, start the download test and 10% in, the data connection drops and 3G/H+ icon disappears. It takes about 1-2 mins for the data connection to return. I've tried market access or web browsing and same thing happens once a data session initiates.
I've installed a slew of modem/ROM combinations via Odin from XXKH3 to XXKI4... nothing... same issue. Seemed worse with KI4 too!
I've tried different APN settings, disabling fast dormancy and specifically trying to enable only HSPA bands. Nothing. Same problem.
I've since reverted back to stock BELL firmware and tried a friends Bell SIM chip and noticed THE SAME thing happening! So this would definitely tell me it's a hardware problem. It's been more than 15 days so Bell won't even talk to me as the return period has passed and I'm not a bell user so screw them.
I guess at this point, I should test my luck with Samsung but it's been rooted and even though I've un-rooted the binary counter shows 2 which means.... I'm screwed for warranty right?
U can reset the binary counter after flashing back to it original state by using jig. Google for galaxy s2 jig
Btw, why dont u just flash original samsung I9100XXKI3 rom? Which provide good modem. Check my signature, 'boot loop', theres a link lead u to installation guide with download link provided. All is there.

I personally found XXKI3 Modem to be best for Bell's SGS2 (currently using it on Telus).
Tried all the modems' including KI3... didn't work.
In recovery mode, fix permission, reboot and check the 3g again.
Try another method, flash cm7 nightly latest version #16. If the problem still exist, thats mean its related to phone's hardware.

Well I got it new out of the box but I had to SIM unlock it which required rooting and etc....
I did power-volume up-home... got into recovery mode and... there is no option to fix permissions. Keep in mind this is the stock ROM I put back on.
CM7 is another idea.... not against that.
Well. Maybe some failure occured during rooting your phone before. Install rommanager app from the market, open then select flash recovery mode, then select your phone model.. This will give u recovery v4 which will give u more option on recovery mode. This is the easiest way to get more option cwm. U will have fix permission option when u done.

i have the same problem i.e data loses connection. after a fresh flash of stock rom and factory reset , it starts working fine for a week or so and then the shyt happens again . i can tell u , its not a hardware issue, it more like a software issue.
i m not good at android but wen i used to run squid on a linux machine as a proxy server , i recall i had to clear a log file to make data flow possible every few days. i think android has a similar issues some logs files build up or some **** like that.
Hi, i bought l9 from orange romania 3 months ago. since then, in the first month i managed to update it to official Jelly bean, unlock bootloader, install CWM, and then ofcourse, root. everything went fine except until yesterday when the Wi-Fi suddenly stopped working. When i tried to turn it on it was stuck at Turning Wi-Fi on. I even tried installing CyanogenMod 10.1 on it, with no luck.
After my unsuccesful attempt with cyanogenmod, I also tried restoring a rooted CWM backup of a stock rom. Same problem, wifi doesnt start at all. What should i do?
Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem but I don't remember how I solved it exactly. I have done something in service menu or installed brand new one with kdz.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41486538&postcount=3
It didn't work. Same problem. Wi-fi hanging at "Turning Wi-fi on". Also, wi-fi mac address , under settings is "unavalaible" and i can't even turn on Wi-fi tethering. Flashing Original KDZ is my last chance. I'll be back with a response as soon i'm done.

I also have an L9 and started having the same problems last night around the time of your original post. The only difference is that I haven't rooted the phone. There have been recent android updates, however. Any more suggested solutions?
Thanks.
Well, i think there is nothing left to do other than sending it to warranty. I'm still open for suggestions.

kdz didn't work?
take a look what logcat is saying
This is what logcat is saying. Another question. It is safe to flash v20.kdz using offline method for fully returning to stock?

LE for users having the same problem. After sending it to warranty they changed the "faulty" motherboard. Now wi-fi is working just fine. Seems that i've got a problematic unit in the first place. Even though i unlocked the bootloader they changed it under no fees.
My GSII I9100 got pretty wet in the rain recently - I was so stupid!
I was running CM10.1 nightly on it.
After this, it was working fine for a few days and then started to loose network quite often. So I decided to factory reset to see if that fixes it. I also flashed the latest nightly when I did the reset. This got me in to a boot loop, which did not get resolved by another wipe data. So I flashed a Stock JB 4.1.2 via Odin. This also resulted in a boot loop but got resolved when I did a wipe data. At this point, I lost my IMEI.
My next action was the biggest mistake of all - I deleted the EFS without a backup so finally ended up with a generic IMEI.
I already know the solution for this problem - I took it to the service center; they tried to flash the software etc., and finally said this can be fixed only by a motherboard replacement.
Following are the questions that I have for the experts:
1. I cannot receive or make calls but I get HSPAP as well as EDGE data. Does getting EDGE connectivity means that my Radio hardware is working fine?
2. Are there any Apps or API calls that can indicate that the Radio works fine? I don't want to replace the entire motherboard without an actual hardware problem.
3. Are there anyone in the forum who has/knows people with a box to get my IMEI repaired? I'm from Chennai, India.
I thank you all for a patient reading. Looking forward to your advice.
Take it to a local phone shop they will be able to sort imei out pretty cheap compered to a mb replacement.

My friend asked me to look at this phone that was softbricked and kept going to CWM recovery everytime it was booted. I updated the CWM to the latest touch version via ODIN then formatted the phone clean. :good: Then I flashed 4.3.1 stable AOKP ROM and the GApps. It was fine, everything else was working. I connected the wi-fi, used bluetooth, signed into google account everything was normal and stable.:highfive: But then I tried calling and it said "no mobile network". Tried sending a text, could not. I went in and searched for network signals then registered to the correct(I AM SURE!) one.:silly: Still no luck. Then I let it choose automatically. Nothing. Then I thought maybe installing another ROM will somehow fix it and flashed CyanogenMod 10.2 stable. Still no luck. I searched around for a flashable radio but could not decide if that would fix it because as far as I am aware if the radio wasn't working no wireless connectivity should've been either.
The phone is Samsung Galaxy S III GTI9300 white 16GB (unlocked) and has been here in Nepal with Nepal Telecom Sim since it was bought. I have no Idea how the soft brick happened but I think this guy tried to manually update the phone with a stock firmware during which some **** must've happened.
Can you guys please let me know if this could be fixed?
Any help would be highly appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
There are hundreds of identical threads, search and read about efs and imei issues.

Hello,
I got this Cricket phone, and mostly successfully had it switched over to be an AT&T phone. It was working well for awhile, then started freezing up from time to time, and I had to take the battery out to get a reboot. I did a factory reset, thought I had it fixed, then did a Kingroot. It was working well, again, for a little while, then started up again with freezing up, but now it was also sometimes not using data, or it said my data was not available. My husband's was fine, so I knew my account with AT&T was fine.
My intention was to uninstall the kingroot, then restore to factory, but after the uninstall of kingroot, it got stuck in Authentication Failed Error #9.
I have successfully installed drivers on my computer, and I am able to get it into Firmware update status, but my question is, I'm not sure what I should flash to the phone to have it work best with my AT&T service. Should I start back at the Cricket initial instal, or can I skip all that and go to a nice rooted ROM?
Thanks for your help!
