[REQ] Best kernel for battery backup ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i'm looking for a kernel with best battery backup for revolt 2.8.2 with good configurations.
Now i'm with latest siyah kernel and is worst with battery but before that i was using latest dorimanx kernel with different configurations like sio scheduler and conservative governor but it was giving me worst battery life so i tried siyah.
I thought that conservative governor is conserving the battery resources but on both kernels like siyah and dori is worst.
So please post here your best kernel with good configurations for revolt 2.8.2 and thanks for reading my story

[CLOSED][Q] Best Kernel to Use?

I was wondering which kernel was the best to use? I do not want to install a custom rom but have a CWM just to add the MODS and such. My choices so far are the:
FXP Kernel
Rage Kernel
X Kernel
Kamrush Kernel
Bbooff Kernel
Can anyone tell me which ones saves the most battery and the fastest? Thanks

As for the fastest Rage kernel supports upto 2Ghz Overclocking, however it's not advisable to scale the processor that high. You can scale upto 1.6Ghz safely though, and there is a version available which can scale safely to 1.6Ghz.
As for battery endurance, you know overclocking and battery life don't go hand in hand. However you can try several CPU governors. Here is an excellent guide

Sorry man, can't post links yet.
Maybe you should choose boff kernel, since it only add root and cwm. If you dont need overclock and other things

X kernel supports also til 2Ghz.
My opinion, is that X kernel has more modifications to make it better than Rage Kernel.
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
I have used all those kernel you mentioned, but x kernel is awesome.
Kamrush Kernel is really good
I tried bbooff then rage and then x.
Went back to rage.
Hybroman v16 was released, flashed back x.
Never changed it since...
curently using rage kernel. I wil try x too.
bboof + hybrom this simple rom minimalis
X kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
Krsh kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
I really couldn't find a difference between those two kernels, X kernel is more recent, since kamarush is now doing ICS (and he's doing an excellent job )
bboof is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, everything working
pretty much stock, only allows root, cwm, etc. very good choice for hybrom. might be best for people who don't like to go too much into technical details
I'll go for Kamarush Kernel or Rage Kernel on stock ROM..
or else if u use Custom ROM like Hybrom, or sumthing else, just follow the suggested kernel there..for example i'll use Bbooff Kernel for Hybrom, and Kamarush Kernel for MiniCMSandwich..

[Q] Comparison of kernels!!

I want to flash a custom ROM to My S2 ...What i dont get is whic kernal to flash .Can someone provide a comparison between Fluxi ICS Kernel, Siyah ICS Kernel, CM ICS Kernel, Dorimanx ICS Kernel & Dark Knight ICS Kernel?? What is the Difference between all of these??
Thanks in Advance.
Read the first page of the thread devoted to each kernel. The specific features will normally be in the first post on that page. There is no chart or thread or whatever listing features of all the kernels on here, there's too many of them for starters & kernels change all the time.
I'm on siyah kernel and it's awesome. I reccomend it... I tried time ago most of the kernel, xxkernel, siyah, dorimanx( just yesterday) but the most stable and usable for me ( I'm on cyano) is the siyah for now... thoravukk kernel at the time I try it wasn't bad but the recovery won't work well... dorimanx comprised with the siyah is really similar the only thing that force me to switch again to siyah was some bug of the dorimanx that the dev will fix.. the dark knight kernel wasn't bad also... but it doesn't have a app to tune the kernel ( like ex tweak).. if you try the dorimanx remember to download extweaks and set the governor of deep sleep ( both) on pesasusq, if you gonna try some other kernel like thoravukk or xxkernel please post your impression, I'm always looking for the ultimate kernel for me right now for stability and feature is the siyah... dunno if the battery life is optimized better on other kernel... I have not bad battery life with siyah...

[Q] CPU Governor

What's the best CPU governor for GT-i9300?
Following are the CPU governors available:
1) ondemand
2) userspace
3) powersave
4) pegasusq
5) performance
Im looking for fast speed (ie no lag) and good battery life. Thanks!
Its up to you to try them all or read the relevant threads .
!!ALL QUESTIONS GO IN THE Q&A FORUM!! OR THEY MAY BE DELETED!!
Kernel
lulzactiveq will help to your needs. To get this option you have to flash a kernel with this governor.
I am using Googy Max Kernel with this governor. Boeffla Kernel, Siyah Kernel also have this governor.
ZZmove for me in Boeffla kernel, you get a choice of profiles, battery, performance etc

[Q] Stable CPU/GPU OC with Siyah Kernel 6.05b5 [4.1]

Hello. sorry if it has been already posted, but I want only "up-to-date" answers.
I have some questions:
1. Which is the best governor to use ( for this kernel ) for a balance between battery and performance ( I use lulzactive right now, I heard that it's very good for a balance between those two but it seems like ondemand is doing a lot better when it comes to battery life )
2. I don't mind OC'ing the CPU but the GPU yes. I want to play games such as Real Racing 3 with acceptable FPS, so I need a boost for the GPU. What settings to use here?
Thanks.
Ondemand and row.
Don't know what governor does Siyah have, but you need to try out "cfq" scheduler with "slp" governor.I think only Apolo kernel has that.
what do you mean by 'row' ?
@GamingDj siyah kernel governors:
ondemand
pegasusq
lulzactive
lulzactiveq
conservative
Scheduler row
Gov ondemand
Andrew is right...from these Row with ondemand is the best. Are you on Stock ROM 4.1.2? If so,then I recommend you trying out Apolo.Maybe extreme v0 or Regular.
Thanks.
I may try thoses ROM but I enjoy the stock ROM, I would change it just for better performance in gaming ( and as I know, the ROM's aren't for that )
edit: oops Apolo is a kernel.. well, as I know, the Siyah Kernel is the best for this phone, isn't it?
but still: no overclock settings for the GPU?

I think dorimanx is the best. It's siyah based and updated alot by a cracking dev
i may give it a try. let's hope it's better.
If you like stock then you should try out alliance or biftor ect ect. These are custom stock roms that work lovely and if you mix it up with a little dorimanx you end up with a kick ass phone. Not to put down Apollo kernel as that is really good for battery but Dori is better for tuning cpu/gpu ov/uv.

With siyah kernel flashed in ur phone u get an app called extweaks or stweaks. This app too was developed by gokhan moral. U can go to GPU tab and change the GPU frequency step. Be careful and don't go beyond 400mhz. It may heat up your phone very much. I use this settings for increasing the smoothness of the phone. And one more thing. Gradually increase the steps.Don't keep the 1st step as 300 or 400. I recommend 160 or 200.

hmm.. i really want to try dorimanx, but, can i flash it over the siyah or i have to somehow delete siyah first?
is the stock ROM that bad? i see that you insist changing it.. as i said: i would change the ROM only if it has performance improvements ( in games, because the stock ROM is doing pretty good in others ) but as I know ROM's aren't for gaming.
@santhosh502 i know it's all about the frequencies. but i need all of the steps. not just the first one. what are you using?
Nope just flash it

Just remember that siyah is for stock and not cm/aokp roms. Dorimanx is for both. 8.xx is stock and custom and 9.xx is for custom only.
I use siyah kernel. But u can download stweaks in play store too. The link for steps is here. Be careful as ur hands might get burned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657491
I understand that you can use siyah with cm/aokp but not supported by dev. Dorimanx is a much safer bet for stability

Is it true that I can't run Dorinmanx 9.xx on stock ROM?
And.. what do you think about CM ROM? Is it worth trying?

[KERNEL][UNOFFICIAL][EOL]DorimanX Stock JB 4.1.2-TRIM

The Background:
JB is far gone as of now, but i still love what Samsung delivered with JB 4.1.2 on my beloved SII.
Dorimanx and Computoncio used to deliver regular builds with latest patches from Linux kernel and they managed to bring it to 3.15-rc2.
But now the project seems like dead.
This is my effort to keep it ticking till the point its possible for me. My intentions is not create any mess of builds, that may harm this evergreen xda community. The Credit still goes to the Original Developers.
If you have problems or if anything goes wrong, you can flash latest build by Computoncio
You can download from his official website:

This is a feature request. May you please add back the fiops scheduler that was removed a while ago (for some reason, fiops still exists in the dorimanx kernel code, but is somehow not listed in stweaks).

Meanwhile can you within Dorimanx thread why it was removed?

According to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34308971&postcount=15892, dorimanx removed fiops a while ago because it was bugged. But he did that at a early build of his kernel, so stability could be better (or at least different) now with all the kernel changes. It's a shame since it was a good scheduler too (zen was supposedly better). IMO, it's probably not worth the time investing to put this feature back into dorimanx kenel.

I just went through code, it wont be much of hassle to enable it back, but i guess it would take a lot of testing.
FIOPS results
I have been using FIOPS for couple of days now
Here is my observation,
Although it doesn't beat ROW on Androbench Benchmarks, the phone feels snappier with it, I guess that's due to good multitasking capability of the scheduler.
There are occasional lock ups but the phone recovers in couple of seconds.

Hey thanks for bringing back dorimax first of all ,..
i have a few questions actually
1st y does dorimax takes up more ram than other kernels like jeboo or other stock based have about 820-830 MB of ram while dori has 760 something
2nd if this is because its capable of taking up all of android 4.x can you make it purely 4.1 stock based to have more user Ram
I guess free RAM has nothing to do with android version.
I remember in Dorimanx kernel thread there are couple of changelogs related to free RAM. It's worth checking that.

Maybe because DorimanX supports dual boot? Two Mali drivers in one version for JB, witch isn't greatly optimised. Apolo without overclock works better.
Scrolling in settings is laggy with this kernel, and in all kernels from 8.x branch.
Unoptimized for TW, on AOSP is different story.
