Hey guys, up until a month ago I have been an avid iOS user until I recently made the glorious switch tk Android. I have figured most everything out except how to add apps that are multiview compatible to the multiview bar. I've tried drag and drop and a few other things but none seem to work. I was really hoping someone could help me, thanks in advance!
Cheers,
David

Multiview functionality is not part of android operating system. That is a propietary technology from samsung, and the applications that can be use in that mode have to be made to do so.

With stock you can only do a small handful of apps (and not all that useful either). But if you use certain Roms (I've been using Jelly Beans for a few months) some come with all apps enabled. I think there is also another way to hack it but probably requires at least root.
Re: Cant add Multi View compatible apps to multi view bar
I rooted my phone the day I got it, since its rooted will it allow me to add more apps to it??

Re: Cant add Multi View compatible apps to multi view bar
Yes, there are mods to do so, or you could pretty much flash any TW ROM under the development section and have all apps available in multi window.

Re: Cant add Multi View compatible apps to multi view bar
Okay, thanks! What about already compatible apps such as Chrome and Google Maps?? How do I add those to the multiview bar?
Also, I apologize for the "newbie-ness" of my questions, im brand new to Android.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
I don't think that Verizon lets you add any apps to the multiwindow view. If you want more apps in there, then you can flash a rom. If you like the look of your phone currently, then I suggest one of the CleanROMs, either the ACE, Verizon Special Edition. If you are stock and you don't want to flash a rom, then you can try this mod here.
Personally I would recommend that you flash a rom if you haven't already. There are so many great roms out there that unlock features that verizon didn't want us to have, or other things like the ability to make the phone look more like stock android.
Re: Cant add Multi View compatible apps to multi view bar
Hello, im a new android user (switched over from iOS last week) and I just had one question for you. Im fairly familar with Linux, so the first thing I did when I got my phone was obviously unlocking the bootloader and rooting it. Im running a stock ROM woth the Team Win Recovery and I was wondering how I would flash from my current ROM to the CleanROM VZW SE 1.5. As you can see below, I have the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II. I apologize for the "newbie-ness" of my question, thank you for your time!

I'd recommend picking a rom based on the first posts in the thread for each one (in the development section), and then read as much as possible in that thread. This is my first android phone too, but after reading the Jelly Beans thread (yes all of it, but I'm crazy like that) I feel I have a good grasp on everything. I'm no expert, but I'm not a newb either, and I've only tried Beans and Cleanrom thus far.
Now I just wanna get 10 (useful) posts so I can post on Beans' thread and thank him! :cyclops:

I was looking at the CleanROM VZW SE 1.5 but I am afraid of bricking my device. I was hoping someone had some useful tips to avoid this
What I'm trying to say is that there are TONS of such tips on this board, but they are already spelled out much better than I could explain, so you really have to put some time in and do the research. You should read the entire thread about that rom, and also read the thread on unlocking all the way through. Everything you need to know is there. It's very rare to completely brick one of these things.

Is it possible to install some of the default apps from SGS2 stock on cyanogen?
I'd really like to have the video and photo editor to begin with. I tried them from Tricky's ROM kitchen rom, they're deodexed zipaligned etc but won't install.
Any advice?
Most likely none of them will work as they rely on Samsungs custom framework.

Reported. You should be banhammered for this rubbish.
You know what your doing you even titled the thread so people would look.
But aren't the editors google apps?
My bad if I'm wrong.
Very agree with the OP regarding needs for a samsung apps.
But I wish there was a thumbs down button for post like this
It should be titled "Question" and not "ROM".

What's worse is that the question has already been asked and answered in the Cyanogenmod thread...
Would be great if anyone with a low post count was immediately directed to the search function before they're able to create new threads.

Is there any "Samsung Apps" package?
Here are some, but not all: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18101252&postcount=4
I also cannot make the Samsung Dive to work, but I'm using an Official 2.3.4 Unbranded ROM (Is not the one wich came with my phone).
There's also a touch wiz launcher for those who miss it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
Samsung Apps with Cyanogenmod 7.1
Assuming my SGS I897 is similar enough to the SGS2, here is my experience: After flashing Cyanogenmod 7.1, I tried to restore apps from Samsung using Titanium Backup.
I was happy my son's Krazy Kart Racing still worked, because it was free in the Samsung Apps market but $3.38 in the Android market.
However, when I tried to restore Samsung Apps itself, Titanium Backup went into an infinite loop. An attempt to restore Program Monitor had the same result.
I guess my answer is: some apps will work and some will not.
Has anyone else tried?
Hi!
I only got 10 posts on this forum and I'm kinda new to coding stuff, but I got experience with rooting, flashing, and theming. Just so you know I'm not all noobish to Android.
Now to the point. I have a great idea for a launcher that I came up with (not sure if I should share it with you guys). I want to base it on the stock Jelly Bean launcher and it will have some UI mods/changes.
I DON'T have any experience with Java yet though.
It would be very kind if someone could give me a few tips or something to get me going. I followed a guide on developers.android.com where you built a simple app that shows a message when you write something and hit Send.
So please help me to get started with developing apps.
Many thanks

Yes you can mod the stock JB launcher and publish it without getting sued, that's the beauty of Android and it being opensource is you can take an application like the stock JB launcher and modify and change it to your hearts content.
Searching around a little more these video's might answer more of your questions:
How to make your own android launcher / program your own custom launcher
How To Retrieve The Source Code From A Compiled Android .Apk Or Application

I have been skimming through the Android development and original android development forums in search of a TW-based ROM that is extremely lite, with everything but the bare necessities removed, but haven't been able to find one. I might have accidentally gone by it, but I cannot find any.
Do you know if such exists? I am not willing to go with AOSP just yet.
With extremely lite, I'm talking at the most 250mb ROM size, instead of TW's 1300mb.
Isn't HyperGalaxy TW based and very lite? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695562
I use it but I don't have TouchWiz on it, if I remember correctly though, that is because I removed it manually. I do believe it comes with TouchWiz as default. And all Samsung apps, no AOSP.
You can also remove even more stuff from it if you find it contains things you don't want. It weighs in at 226MB.
It's awesome. Chicks dig it.

No FM Radio on mine, but searched for the term in the thread and found this link to a flashable CWM zip that contains the radio app. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dcc9ibksklg85jx/Gallery_FMradio.zip
I don't know if it works or not, or if the FM Radio required libs have been removed from the ROM, and I don't want to try it since I hate radio with all my heart and will not succumb to even clicking an FM Radio icon once. I would have to sell my device after that since it would be forever tainted. :silly:
You should ask people in the HyperGalaxy thread!

You really need to read. All jb roms we have for our Note dont support Touchwiz. If you want want all of those goodies, flash Padawan. Thats an ics rom but it feels like a JB rom. Pls read next time, pretty much everyone knows we cant use any of the apps you mention on any jb roms. GL ps: you must be new to all these

I've tried padawan and i didnt like it. It was too choppy and ICS, im running JellyBean because i want jelly bean. Also, i can Read, i saw the post you took the padawan reference from already. This post is to get people working on getting those apps too work with JellyBean since it obviously can be done as we've seen with previous Android versions it just takes time. And im not "new to all these" you didnt even word that correctly. I work in IT and I've been flashing for a year or so and customizing my ROMS. So kiss my ass

OP, first I have notice your opening of threads, that if you search would find the answers...
The types of app are not supported by Jelly Bean bottom-line.
If you want those apps there alternate app for the one you are inquiring on via GPlay Market or simply find a ICS ROM, there ICS ROM still being developed and or cooked in these threads, here is the Super GNote page with all the listing of the ROMS.

Thanks for posting this.
It's a good APP for us, but just wonder we can install it to our phone directly? It looks I cann't install it to my 4.1.2 OS.

If your phone is rooted, I think the Padawan JB ROM has the option to add this app. You may want to double check the OP of that ROM
I tried this on my Note2 and the sizing is wrong. might need to change the dpi or something.
If rooted you can use Xposed installer and then per app dpi module.
