Hi all, is there any easy way to disable the ugly CRT-OFF animation on custom ROM?
Which ROM? Most have a means to do so in settings.
kitchen.indieroms.net/kitchen/OmegaFiles_SG3/v39/Remove_CRT-OFF_Effect.zip
This is the CRT off removal zip.. Flash it and it should be removed.
PS: taken from Omega kitchen files

Because they use same apk, framework-Res.apk in this case I think.
You have to re-add ink effects again manually by yourself, you can find it in theme section

im not sure if you can without having to use widget locker or something!
Try LockMenu from the market.
At first I was like too, but now I love it

Now that you mentioned that the default lockscreen is to move the whole picture(which I prefer).
Is it possible to add widgets to the lockscreen and still keep that lockscreen option?( moving the picture)

Non - Rooted phones = No rights on update/modify system files..which won't be possible unless someone makes a rom out of it..people prefer their roms to be rooted..

I tried almost all guides available to me to make this animation work
But no guide works on this device brother
I am ready to wait for CM
Rebooting your phone each time you replaced systemui.apk modded for old crt and then replacing it is a tedious task to do

you can always try screen off and lock app..
it creates a shortcut with which u can lock screen and provides crt animation with lot of settings and sounds!
PS: It won't give crt animation on lock by pressing power button!

to apply crt effect..3 files must be edited...framework-res.apk,system-ui.apk and build.prop......in every tutorial..i found how to edit one file..but never found a complete tutorial.

if animation is not working..then go to settings->Display->Animations and select "All animations"
Try "delay device locking" in screen off and lock settings!

even with this app, on power button press animations won't work... they only work with shortcut press...so there is no good reason to include this in ROMs..
EDIT: the app's animation won't work when u'll turn phone on with home button press.. hardware button press don't give any animations!

well, that's the problem... there is a standard procedure for this but it doesn't work on this device!
The procedure is decompile framework-res.apk
go to res/values and open bools.xml
then change this: <bool name="config_animateScreenLights">true</bool>
to this: <bool name="config_animateScreenLights">false</bool>
Then decompile and replace the current framework-res.apk in the phone!
The only problem: it's not working!

Hey guys. I made a mod that allows you to select whatever widget you wish for your lockscreen. It allows home screen widgets and lockscreen widgets. Some home screen widgets may not work perfectly but most should. Don't forget to hit thanks

I downloaded this and installed in recovery, but after phone reboots what are the steps to add widgets to lockscreen? I tried long press and also settings in lockcreen but no go.
I am running hyperdrive and swipe lockscreen.

Not yet. There is an xposed framework mod that allows Widgets on secure lock screen. I'm trying to add it to the actual file so you don't need the module. Give me some time

Yes it should. I just downloaded the zip in link provided and took a peek, he's(they) are touching themes and I'm touching source code. So it will probably work. I gavehim a thanks too! That's pretty awesome looking! never thought of theming that! Looks cool!

This thread is way old, but was this ever figured out for stock Lollipop? I only see download files for Hyperdrive.
Trying to figure out a way to disable crt off animations. Already have animations off in developer options but the animations are still there. Running jellybutter 8.5, any thoughts?
