Returning to stock? - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

I haven't seen a method for returning to stock including a factory image. My twrp doesn't show the nandroid I made when first gaining root so I'm in some deep water. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should be able to get back to factory by running the RUU. There is a link to the latest in the FAQ. Link here:

Nandroids, and kernels, how does it work?

Alright, so I am not really new to flashing, and rooting, but I am a newb when it comes to S-on devices. If I made a nandroid with the original kernel, andI then flashed an alternate, will I be able to just flash my nandroid, or do I have to change the kernel too? I know typically, the kernel is saved within the backup. Is it the same on a s-on device? Tried finding an answer on many boards, but came up empty. I should stop playing with things I don't understand. Thanks..... from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Edit; Also, with the frequencies jumping on a kernel, is this detrimental to the CPU? I get the best battery life on dsb's, but am afraid that the jumping is bad for my phone. I promise this is my last stupid post for the next 30 seconds....

It's better to ask questions that just randomly doing things. I believe the answer to this question is you'd have to use a recovery that is capable of flashing the boot partition. I think this is why we have to flash kernels separately, because they can't be flashed via any of the recoveries available. Seems that you would be able to do this with full S-Off, just not with S-On.
So the proper thing to do is to flash the original kernel, then my recovery? I just want to get the correct method before I go flash happy. Thanks Mr.Smith for the quick reply....

Flash ROM then Kernel(before you leave recovery). If you're doing a restore, then restore then kernel.

[Q] Rezound will not boot

I unlocked and rooted my HTC Rezound using hasoon2000's all-in-one tookit v2.0 and was running cleanROM.
I am currently in a 'bootloop'. The phone will boot to the first white HTC screen without the red writing on the bottom and then it will turn completely black and will not go any further. I can boot in the hboot and recover AmonRa 3.15.
I factory reset the internal storage and nothing happened. I then reset the sd card and still no luck whatsoever.
I cannot get the phone to recognize on my laptop to relock the bootloader and am afraid verizon might notice..
I shaking and sweating a little bit, i don't want to be without a phone..
any help would be fantastic.
I would like to know how to get out of this bootloop and possibly reset back to factory settings.

going to need more info first:
1. does it say you have an unlocked bootloader?
2. you will need to take your sd card out of the phone, plug it into a pc, and download a rom, and place it on the sd card.
3. which hboot are you running at this point in time.
Will it boot if you take the sim card out? Try that

maybe try reflashing
I seem to be having the exact same problem- I can reboot into recovery and flash recovery and/or a new rom, boot into bootloader and flash boot.img, but still get stuck at white htc screen.
I had just finished a 45 minute tech call to Verizon, put the phone down for about 15 min, picked it back up to unlock and it froze. Would not respond to adb commands, finally pulled battery to reboot and bootlooping at white htc screen. Flashed both BAMF 2.1, earlier ICS backup, and factory reset from recovery.
Anyone have a suggestion as to next step? Flash RUU (I did update to 3.xx) again?
Thanks for any thoughts
Stuck at white HTC screen
I rooted my Rezound and flashed Amon. I made the mistake of trying to flash a Cyanogen ROM and now I'm stuck at the HTC white screen. I have no idea what to do from here. I can get into reecovery and fastboot. What are my options? Thanks for any help!
It sounds like there is no kernel. Try flashing sebastians kernel if ICS, Incredikernel if GB.

Thank you SO much! I'm going onto day 2 without my phone and it isn't fun! I flashed the kernel for Cyanogen as well as the ROM but clearly that didn't end well. Where can I find these kernels?
EDIT: Found Incredikernel. Will let you know if it works.

Thats what we are all here for. S-Off makes flashing so much easier since it actually flashes the kernel the same time you flash the rom and when you make a backup it will actually save the kernel with the backup as well. Well worth it.

And that is why I love the Android community so much. I've never been left "out in the cold" when I had a problem rooting or flashing ROMs, themes, etc.
Good to know about S-Off... I'm all about making the process of flashing easier. I'll take a look at S-Off tomorrow after work. What are the best instructions in your opinion?

This is what I did that ended with me being bootlooped in the first place:

Can't get past Verizon Unauth warning even with new .pit and stock rom

Hey everyone. I flashed the CWM touch recovery today, and now I'm getting that damn Verizon unauthorized software message.
I downloaded the stock .pit file and the stock VRALJB image from here
After that succeeds through odin, I still get the verizon issue. What am I missing?

I had done no such thing. Never prompted nor initiated an install so it was stock from the first stock root that was out there.
Anyway, we're all good now, running Jedi X11.
Thanks though.
Mods can close. Was just a matter of flashing the right stock roms in the right order.

[Q] Bricked Photon jellybean

Photon 2.3.5, rooted, locked. Was trying to flash jellybean, something went wrong. Now it just cycles to the 'Dual Core' screen, and off. I can get into the boot menus and rsd. Tried wiping data from recovery, didn't help. I have tried to flash 198_7 sbf file, but it fails at re-enumeration. Is my phone toast?

I don't think so.
Can you able to enter custom recovery. If yes try nandroid backup.
Only few roms like peetrs hybrid are available For locked bootloader .
You flashed a rom for unlocked bootloader on locked phone. So the result is softbrick.

New issue now. I have no audio on calls. The other party can hear me, I can't hear them. Speaker phone works good. From what I've seen, this is a software issue. Would you happen to have a fix for this?
Never mind. Broken speaker wires. Got it disconnected from the board, just have to order a new one.

I'm a complete n00b to rooting and have been trying to find an answer to the same question before diving in. I have looked through tons of info, including the 2 threads posted in responses, but can't seem to get a clear answer as to whether these methods work for 2.07... There seems to be a lot of conflicting reports. Would love to know if you confirm that either of these work.
May have answered my own question
It looks like there are further reports of moonshine working on 2.07.

I'm going to give it a try tonight and will report back here.
I haven't seen anything about unlocking or rooting on 2.07, only s-off. I have a new DNA being shipped out thanks to my warranty, but I really don't want to go back to 4.1 after being on 4.3 for a few great months!

Yep, sorry for mixing up unlocking and rooting with s-off. I just thought getting s-off would better for a n00b like me as it seems to make the custom ROM / kernel process a bit more straight forward.

I tried last night and ran into a few problems and then ran out of time. Got an error along the lines of [can't obtain temproot] during one of the moonshine steps... This may be due to the fact that I did not factory reset before moonshining. I will try again this evening (after factory reset).
Do you know I should go through the normal phone set-up after the factory reset? Or just reset then dive into moonshine?
Thanks!

Thanks for the offer! I was actually able to flash twrp and a custom ROM. It was much easier than I originally anticipated. My eyes are now open to a whole new world... Not sure I'll ever be able to go back to a stock Stock/manufacturer ROM.
Now running ViperDNA 2.0.1. I picked Viper as it sounds like this is one of the most stable/least buggy ROMs out there right now (plus it runs fine on the stock kernel). Do you have any other suggested ROMs for the DNA?

Well, still troubleshooting some things. Successfully had root access and using the correct settings I could run wireless tether fine. I then proceeded to backup then install viper Rom. Set everything up fine however nothing I tried would get tether going. So I restored my backup (tether is a must) and still same issue. It starts but I cnt connect which is strange as I was using it fine earier.
So now I did a factory reset and flashed superuser, now tether won't start. Says "started with errors" using the exact same settings. So I'm going to try flashing the stock ota deodedex Rom see if that solves it.
