ADB/Download mode help - AT&T LG Optimus G

I've been having two problems with my OG.
The first is when my OG is connected to my computer, the computer recognizes it and I am able to view everything on my phone. The problem is when I open command prompt and enter adb devices to check to see if it sees the phone, it returns "List of devices attached" with nothing underneath. Clearly it is not recognizing the phone.
The second problem I am having is that when I enter download mode neither LGNPST nor my computer recognize the phone. Its as if nothing was plugged into the usb port.
Any help or advice to either problem would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if download mode needs drivers. Do you have usb debugging enabled for the phone to be recognized in adb? Under development settings.

Make sure you're not plugged into a USB 3.0 port

It isnt plugged into a USB 3.0 port.
What are the necessary drivers? I might've deleted them after I rooted and flashed to The Base 0.73 and didn't think I would need them again.
I feel like I should mention that actually. I rooted and flashed to the Base, then flashed Slick Rom, then went back to the Base. So orginally my computer recognized my phone in download mode but after rooting and flashing it didn't. I think it might be the drivers. I'll check when I get home.

Ok so I downloaded the drivers from LG's website and installed them. I ran adb and it was recognized so that was the problem I had. Apparently after flashing I uninstalled and deleted everything off of my computer and just forgot to download everything back. Thanks for helping.

[Q] Connection problems

So when i try to connect my galaxy to the computer nothing happens. i plug it in and it will start to charge but the phone will not have recognized the fact that it is connected to the computer and the computer doesnt even say "unrecognized device" how do i get the phone and omputer to recognize each other?
Did you install drivers for the phone? What operating system are you on?
yes i have. ive tried both osx and windows 7 and i have made sure to download teh drivers for each
Have you tried to connect it in usb debugging mode? (goto settings, applications, devlopment, check debugging mode?
(I dont know of it will help, but it would be the next thing I would try)
And try different usb ports. I have heard before that it can help.
yeah ive tried all of that it and still nothing, the switching usb ports too
Did you restart the computer after you installed drivers?
I would try installing Samsung Kies (from samsung website, GS2 support page). It also installs drivers and fixed a problem I had with connection.
If all these don't work, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry. I am sure someone here with more experience will be able to help.
yeah haha ive done all of these unfortunately and still nothing, thank you for you suggestions though
Kies had an update within the hour of New years (Pacific).
I discovered this morning that USB debugging mode MUST BE OFF for Kies to recognize and connect to the phone. I'm currently backing up my device in this mode right now.
"Kies Air" also works well, without having to worry about any USB issues.
"Droid Explorer" connects fine with debugging turned on. I have to wait until backup is complete to see if it works with debugging turned off.
I'm having USB port issues right now, so your mileage may vary.
Hope this helps.

try installing Kies?
Its ok i got it to work. Went into download mode and plugged into my PC and windows installed some drivers, Odin detected the phone just fine. Then i booted up into android like normal but switched to PTP mode, windows then installed the MTP drivers (though it was already installed) then after that all worked well again
Please help...
Im having the same problem. But nothing seems to work for me. Tried everything possible. Re-installed drivers, connected in download mode, installed Kies, reset to factory setting..ALL TO NO AVAIL. I keep getting 'USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned...' message...
The solution isnt always the same for all users.. Fortunately mine was fixed by a simple driver install. I remember browsing the internet and found out that there is a way to fix it but it requires simple adb commands and the Android SDK.

[Q] PC wont recognize

my phone will not be recognized by the computer no matter what i do. It recognizes my friends i777 just fine in odin and as a storage device so it isnt my drivers. With mine it only makes the connection sound and says device drivers failed to install. I am running shostock 3, philz kernel and windows 7. I have tried everything and i am out of ideas, please help. thanks
Install Kies fresh, install android sdk and update it, reboot, try different usb ports.
Also u have to disable usb debugging and let it install those drivers, enable it and let it install those drivers and boot into download mode and do a regular reboot and let it install those. Always worked for me after following those steps.
If he's friends phones works. Then I think it's the phone usb. My own phone has the same issues but my usb on phone is messed up. Says charging while its not chargin and that happens I get the whole Device not recognize and fail to install. Try cleaning your usb with 99% Isopropyl of the instructions above this post don't work out.

[Q] USB Only Charging, No Other Connection Types Working

I have been fighting this for awhile now. My phone boots up just fine, and I am able to charge it through USB, but I cannot get Windows to recognize it. I have tried multiple ports, checking and unchecking MTP and PTP in settings, enabling and disabling ADB, and even putting the phone in download mode. LGNPST won't even recognize it in download mode. I'm really not sure what to do at this point. Does anybody have a suggestion? I'm currently running CWM 6.0.4.7 and CM 11. Thanks in advance for any help.

Had same problem with my laptop. I installed the correct drivers but still, nothing. Might want to try a different pc to see if the problem is the phone or the pc.
I have a similar problem here at work. We all use Win7 PCs. Mine has the LGOG driver package installed and despite all efforts to install, etc my LGOG only charges. The notice window appears announcing that drivers are being installed, but then it fails.
When I go to my neighbor's pc, that doesn't have the driver package installed the notice window appears, says searching and installing drivers and I can see my phone in explorer. I can't explain but a different pc is a solution.

[Q] [HELP] Phone is softbricked, can't get any ADB commands to work

Alright so I'm no stranger to flashing ROMS and whatnot, but today I slipped up and deleted everything on my internal storage, including my NANDROID backup. I still have access to my recovery (CWM touch v6.0.4.5). So I thought "no problem, I"ll just ADB sideload". Well here we are.
Basically I can't get my ****ing phone to communicate with my computer. I installed every damn thing I could think of to get my device to show up after typing "adb devices". I tried the universal toolkit, but as expected it didn't work very well. I tried it on my laptop and desktop, through USB 2.0 and 3.0. I installed the generic Android USB ADB driver, I installed HTC sync for DNA drivers, I installed a standalone version of the DNA driver, and no dice. Can't even get fastboot to communicate. Even though my phone says fastboot USB my computer won't recognize it.
This is seriously ****ing pissing me off, because it should be a simple fix. Anybody have words of wisdom to help me out?
Thanks in advance.

When your in hboot/fastboot and connected to your computer does it say fastboot usb? If it does when you type in fastboot devices is it recognizing your device at all? Should bring up serial number. Are you on Windows xp/7/8 or 8.1?

Which version of the universal ADB drivers did you use, because I just did this to my phone about a month ago and had the same issue? Once I installed the universal generic driver everything communicated and worked properly.
Try installing PDAnet it blanket installs a bunch of drivers that got me out of a similar spot!
