rooting question,quick yes or no

i think this should be a yes or no question / verify i understand this
if i root my eris ( just the root image NO recovery imgs or anything just root image) ...i can just boot into recovery, make a nandroid backup, save it onto my sd card and computer then i can flash back to stock whenever if i choose to, correct?
im not missing anything?, i dont need to download a nandroid app or a recovery image?
sorry if its been asked before but i have been searching and need to clarify this because everything on here is spread out and unclear to me.
If I understand what you're saying the answer is no... maybe I'm wrong. You can't boot into recovery without your "recovery image."
I would just install the recovery image because then you can make a nandroid backup. And it can do the exact same as the original one, just more options, but normally, no, you cannot make a nandroid backup without installing the recovery image.

[Q] strange issue need help

hi, i've rooted my phone before 2 months. it was fine but suddenly it get hanged in boot screen itself. what i have to do. it will not go to recovery mode but only to download mode. so no data wipe i've its backups in pc whether i'll be able to flash it with odin
If you are getting Download mode and nothing else..better you flash your current ROM version again from from ODIN, then Root again, and put your backup on SD card (if those are backed up at the time of good condition of your phone) and restore.....
I dont have recovery package i think filehosting is blocked
Flash any stock rom and CWM and root kernel to match your old version as said .
jje
u can flash litening rom through odin.

[Q] Nandroid Backup / Restore Options for G-Slate

Ok, so the (non-existent) recovery menu on the G-Slate is absolutely unacceptable. I mean really, really? This is what I get when booting into recovery mode:
Entering LG MDP Mode
DO NOT POWER DOWN
downloading NOW......
No options to reboot, Factory Reset, or to do anything and it is assuming you have the file in the right location and know just what the hell it is downloading. This sucks.
So I wanted to get Clockwork on there and found a clockwork recovery I can boot into temporarily using fastboot. The problem is I can't flash it to the g-slate and overwrite the existing recovery.
I can flash it using fastboot but when I put the G-Slate into recovery mode it loads the original recovery as if it didn't actually flash.
So I tried to replace the recovery.img in the nandroid backup and then restore from that backup, but as I suspected I get an md5 sum error. So I figured out how to trick the nandroid into thinking it is still valid after replacing the recovery.img. I restored the modified nandroid but still the g-slate recovery 'menu' is the same.
That's about the extent of my skills. They must have the recovery image locked down tight on this thing. I know there are people out there working on getting the recovery partition hacked. Hopefully we'll have something soon.
So I guess my question now is, does anyone know of a CWM recovery that will flash to the G-Slate, or a method to flash an existing recovery that will work, or is it still a waiting game?
Thanks

CWM Recovery Touch + Installing ROMs

Hi,
I finally unlocked the BL on my Atrix (4.5.91 from AT&T)
I downloaded ROM Manager and installed CWM Recovery. I managed to boot into recovery from ROM Manager once but now it's not working.
I get the Motorola Logo and then it switches to the android logo with an exclamation mark
I was thinking of flashing the touch recovery, found information here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-clockworkmod-recovery-touch-on-motorola-atrix-4g-how-to/
Is there a newer version? Are these instructions accurate? Do I need to be in fastboot to do this?
Also, I never flashed a ROM before
I really need a clear NOOB guide for doing this and would appreciate recommendations for ROM (if possible, ones that have Hebrew)
Thanks!!!
before you start digging an even bigger hole... STOP
you've already installed cwm so I don't know why you would need to install another version? Right now you need to get your phone up and running again.
Try these steps... power up phone holding the volume down button to get into recovery. Did that work? If so you should see the recovery menu - select data/facory reset and press power to select and then try and reboot system... does that work?
If not I think you'll need to flash the sbf file using rsd lite. Instructions are easy to find on here. Good luck.
I think I didn't explain myself properly.
The phone works 100%, I simply cannot boot into CWM recovery
when I power up holding the volume down button I get to what I think is the phone's default recovery. I get Fastboot as the first option and I can browse through with the volume down button
Anyways, what I would like to learn how to do is safely flash CWM Recover Touch (just because it's easier to use) and Flash ROMs
Thanks!!
Insure that rom manager is up to date, then reflash cwm recovery & try booting into recovery again.

OK, I re-flashed CWM recovery and it's working now
Before I proceed, I would like to backup my current AT&T ROM.
1) do I do this through th Backup and Restore in the recovery?
2) is this called NANDROID backup?
3) is it safe to restore from it?
I created a backup and again it does not boot into recovery. same issue
Will I always need to reflash it after each time?
OK, it only boots into recovery once after I flash it. Even if I don't do anything
ROM Manager is the most recent version (5.0.0.7)
Recovery is the most recent version according to ROM Manager (5.0.2.0)
Anyone? please help

Flash the recovery through ROM Manager one more time, boot to recovery, and flash the latest version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475444
See if that one stays working.

Porting CWM recovery to other devices

I want to install cwm recovery on my MT6589 phone by the method at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2519432 because my phone is not in the supported list.
Suppose, the tool fails to manufacture cwm properly. Then,
1. Will I a be able to turn on the phone normally?
2. What will happen if I try to boot into recovery?
3. Suppose I have a backup of the stock recovery. Can I reflash it so that I get my original recovery back?
4. How can I take a backup of the stock recovery?
5. Suppose the phone gets bricked and I cannot turn it on by any way. Can I restore it by any way?
Thank you for answering my post.
