Okay, this may be a dumb question, but it's been bugging me for a while:
Say I download a picture in the browser and want to text it to somebody. What I would like to do is swipe down the notification bar, tap the download to view the picture, then send to messages or whatever from there. But Sense doesn't give you the share option. The only thing you can do is "view details."
Even in Reddit News, an app with this kind of built-in -- you can download a pic, then you get a nice preview in the notification pull down, but when you hit "share," it just takes you to the dumb viewer screen that allows nothing but "view details."
Is there a way, or an app, that can replace this default image viewer with something useful?

when you have the gallery open up and it's showing you the picture. click the middle of the screen. this will bring up the menus. the button on the bottom left is share, where you have about 5 options of how to share depending on bluetooth, nfc, and social apps/cloud services installed.
No, I know how to share from the gallery, my point was wanting to share from the notification area without having to open another app to do so.
Ever look at a picture from a file browser? You just get the picture, no options to do anything with it.
Anyways, I installed QuickPic and it manages to do what I was looking for just fine!

Hi people,
I have a very specific need for a very simple app:
It should be one button only on one screen, and one textfield only on another screen.
The function of the button is to send a predefined(coded into app) SMS to the number you input in the other screen(this number should autosave).
In other words -
Screen 1: 1 big button, "ACTIVATE" (when clicked, sends SMS "activate" to number)
Screen 2: Settings screen, one box only, for putting in destination number and saving it.
I have above average general computer-knowledge and understanding, but no experience whatsoever with app-development.
Can I learn to, and write this app simply myself, say in a day or two max? Or should I just pay someone that knows what they're doing because it would take me too long to learn?
I suggest that you go on your own. It is not difficult to code such an app and learning some code isn't bad at all. You can do it in one day if you're determined enough. Good luck!
If you don't want to learn to code then there is always my app SMS Bot Widget:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ubikapps.smswidget
It is a home screen widget only so you can't send a message from an app, only a home screen widget.

Your Widget seems to be 99% what I need..! Would it be easy for me to modify your code, to change the text and options on the settingscreen, and make the Widget just a standard picture?
Also, could I cancel the confirmation part, just have the text sent in background instead of the confirm-to-send?
Edit: What I really need is a cross between your widget and this app in its simplest form:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ult#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsIm51LmZkcC5TbXNfUkMiXQ..
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
OK, so I started trying out myself, using MIT AppInventor. I've gotten pretty far, all I'm missing is for the app to store what's put in the "PhoneNumber"-textbox. How do i make the app save the number for later, also when app is restarted?
Last thing, when I use a picture for button, how do i get it to be "shaded" when pressed? you know, so you know when your pressing it.
What am I missing to get these features?

OK, so I've found the TinyDB, and put in the "store value" block, however I don't know where to put the "retrieve value" to get it to retrieve as soon as app is opened.. any help?

My app isn't open source yet but I might put it on github or something in the future.
I'm using the Evo 4G LTE if that's necessary information or not... Lately for some reason, every time I close out an app and then re-enter it, it loads back up to where I last was or last thing done rather than the main page. For example, open facebook app, it takes me directly to the last notification I looked at rather to my newsfeed and it will continue to take me to that notification when opening the program until I look at another notification. With instagram, it takes me to the image upload screen, the one where you crop the image before uploading it; all the time. It gets annoying having to navigate back to the main page. Anyone know what's up?
Umm. It's multitasking...
Sent from my One X
How is that multi-tasking by, for instagram's example, sending me to the upload page of a picture that i've already uploaded? At that point I shouldn't be brought to that page again with the same photo after I've already cropped and uploaded it.
It's going to open up where you left off - that way you can, say, start writing a post with tapatalk, go respond to an SMS, then go back to writing your post without losing your progress.
Instagram is one app, it's going to behave how it's designed to behave. I would assume it's taking you back to that page because it can't really take you to the post-upload page. So it just goes to the point nearest where you left off... but I don't use instagram, so that's just speculation.
Sent from my One X
Your explanation is how I believe multi-tasking is supposed to work and has been but let me explain what's happening in terms of a message board. I click new reply, write my statement and then click submit reply, and i'm now back at the thread page. So in essence, if I now switch out of the browser then go back to it, I should be back on the thread page. But instead, it brings me back to the reply page where I would be writing my response before clicking submit reply (if that paints the picture anymore clearly).
It's not just with instagram but it's with facebook and a few other apps. After doing some messing around after reading your response I did kill the tasks, re-open the apps and they loaded to their default pages as they should. so it's something that's causing these apps to re-open to the last action you did inside the app rather than the last thing you were viewing in the app.
in phone settings don't you have the option to close app by long pressing back button?

It should be in the accessibility context menu
When someone sends me an image over MMS, if I tap it to view it full screen, it is still using only half the screen and has player controls at the bottom. It appears to have a 5-second play time. I cannot zoom or view the picture in the Gallery app or any other photo-viewing app, and I can't zoom in or scroll. The only way I can actually view it as an image is if I long-press the image, save it, then open it from ES Explorer, Gallery or similar app. This is the case with all pictures sent to me over MMS and from all senders. How do I turn this off so that the MMS app sees it as an image and not a 5-second movie?
By the way, I noticed this was the case with my S3 as well, so maybe this is more related to the Samsung SMS app than the Note II. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to fix this issue, though I can confirm I have the same complaint about it. I have the feeling it has something to do with the Android text messaging app and how it handles attachments, and not so much how the Note 2 specifically handles them. I had this exact same issue with my Experia Play. It's an annoyance at worst to me, so I just ignore it, but if anyone knows of a workaround, I'd be glad to hear it!
On my s4 running stock rooted mdk, I use the native gallery app to view photos and am always annoyed by the preview strip of thumbnails obscuring the bottom of the frame when viewing a single picture full screen. I'm not sure how this got activated, but I can find no way to turn it off, and searches haven't helped. Anyone have a solution?

Doesn't work. I can tap a thumbnail and navigate to that picture, or double tap the current one to zoom in. But single tap, or tap-and-hold, does nothing, not on my S4, anyway. I tried just about everything that seemed intuitive before posting this question.

Not sure if it'd work but maybe try clearing data on Gallery?

Must be a problem with your setup. The strip will go away on its own after a few seconds or if you tap the screen. Pretty sure there is no setting for this.
Data wipe and reboot availed nothing, but good suggestion, and thanks for confirming that this is abnormal behavior. I haven't really messed with the system apart from rooting MDK and freezing the OTA processes so I don't lose my unlocked bootloader...so I'm not sure what I did that would've messed up the gallery. But if I finally get round to installing a 4.4.x ROM, perhaps the problem will go away.

How do you rearrange the bookmarks?
Press and hold. I believe.

I will try that again as did not work last time.
Edit: hold a bookmark and a popup menu comes up. Unless it scrolls to the move option I do not see how to do the arrangement.
Hold until it starts the rings around the bookmark and then drag dont let go.

I do not see that on holding on a bookmark. I see a Starburst on the side of the name almost coincident with the popup menu.

What will a flash player do to the battery life?
Any way to enable landscape view even if it means removing the watch off of the wrist?
