When someone sends me an image over MMS, if I tap it to view it full screen, it is still using only half the screen and has player controls at the bottom. It appears to have a 5-second play time. I cannot zoom or view the picture in the Gallery app or any other photo-viewing app, and I can't zoom in or scroll. The only way I can actually view it as an image is if I long-press the image, save it, then open it from ES Explorer, Gallery or similar app. This is the case with all pictures sent to me over MMS and from all senders. How do I turn this off so that the MMS app sees it as an image and not a 5-second movie?
By the way, I noticed this was the case with my S3 as well, so maybe this is more related to the Samsung SMS app than the Note II. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to fix this issue, though I can confirm I have the same complaint about it. I have the feeling it has something to do with the Android text messaging app and how it handles attachments, and not so much how the Note 2 specifically handles them. I had this exact same issue with my Experia Play. It's an annoyance at worst to me, so I just ignore it, but if anyone knows of a workaround, I'd be glad to hear it!

Anyone able to get the slideshow to work from your gallery? Mine tells me I need to choose at least two photos, lets me select them, then freezes. Anyone able to get it to work?
TIA
As long as you have photos in the gallery it should work. I've had at least 4 or 5 and I hit the slide show button it pops up and says display in Landscape and I normally click the box and it runs.
mine runs here no problems at all.
SMS picture Play to view No pinch to Zoom ?
Is this a setting that needs to be change or something ? every time I get a SMS picture is detect it as "video" I get Play and pause options FORGET pinch to zoom..
Anybody ?
Thank you all in advance.
This is an Android problem. But the work around is to long press and elect to save the file, it will disassemble the slideshow and once it's in gallery you can pinch to zoom, etc

Sigh .. this is still an issue 2 years later.
Get the same 5-second video as a blurry image on my SGS3.
Quick question, i use handcent for messages and usually use quickpic for any gallery type features. Both are working fine as normal except if someone sends me a picture message. I can see the message fine within handcent but if i touch it to enlarge and want to use quickpic to see it i get a message in red saying load failed. If i touch the pic in handcent and use normal gallery to open it it does so fine. If i then save the picture and open quickpic normally the pic will load fine. Its just quickpic doesnt seem to work with handcent on this phone.
Anyone else using both apps and having any trouble? Its been fine using them both on my desire hd and my GS2. Just not on this phone.
Same thing happens on my wife's phone using those same 2 apps. Never did that on her old rezound phone. Any solution yet?

Hoping someone knows?
I have the S4 and although Handcent comes up as an option to view pics and vids, my phone always default to
the stock Gallery. If I disable Gallery, nothing opens.

Go to App Manager > Gallery instead of disabling it try clearing Gallery Defaults then when you try to display a picture in messaging you should get the various options to choose from

Darn! I thought, you had it!! Since I've never chosen the Gallery as my Default, the option to Clear was grayed out.
Thanks for a good thought!
I can't figure if it's a phone compatibility or Handcent but, I've always used QuickPic with Handcent.
Mainly, I like the auto Full brightness setting QuickPic offers.
Okay, this may be a dumb question, but it's been bugging me for a while:
Say I download a picture in the browser and want to text it to somebody. What I would like to do is swipe down the notification bar, tap the download to view the picture, then send to messages or whatever from there. But Sense doesn't give you the share option. The only thing you can do is "view details."
Even in Reddit News, an app with this kind of built-in -- you can download a pic, then you get a nice preview in the notification pull down, but when you hit "share," it just takes you to the dumb viewer screen that allows nothing but "view details."
Is there a way, or an app, that can replace this default image viewer with something useful?

when you have the gallery open up and it's showing you the picture. click the middle of the screen. this will bring up the menus. the button on the bottom left is share, where you have about 5 options of how to share depending on bluetooth, nfc, and social apps/cloud services installed.
No, I know how to share from the gallery, my point was wanting to share from the notification area without having to open another app to do so.
Ever look at a picture from a file browser? You just get the picture, no options to do anything with it.
Anyways, I installed QuickPic and it manages to do what I was looking for just fine!

Just received my S6 Edge and love it, but I do have a question.
The drawing function is gone from the Samsung Photo Gallery edit. On my S5 and S4 I could take a picture, then using the included Samsung Photo app to easily draw on the photo (i.e. make an arrow, circle something, etc.). Likewise if I took a screen shot I could easily use Edit -> Effect and draw on the picture, then send it to someone in the same app.
Am I missing something? I can't find a simple Gallery application as my default, go-to app for reviewing, then drawing on on pictures. Likewise there is no drawing capability on Google's Photos app (the one with the pinwheel icon). Everyone raves about QuicPic which is otherwise great, but there doesn't seem to be a drawing function. Key functionality - I'd like to be able to select the app as the default gallery so that I don't have to keep switching back and forth between applications.
Has anyone else solved for this?
you have to download the sdk for that in galaxy apps
