I have a Razr XT910,it´s rooted,with custom rom etc...
I plan to sell it and buy Razr Maxx, found one new for 350€
Now,that Maxx will probably come with GB 2.3.6 and I want another one's opinion:
Should I stay with GB or upgrade to ICS and after that to try custom roms?
I bought my current XT910 also with GB and use it like that around 15 days, then I went to Germany to work and there I upgrade it over the OTA to ICS.
As far as I remember,GB was ok,without lags, good battery time...
If I upgrade it,what do I get and what I lose
Here I saw a lot of people who are quite knowledgeable about these things,I hope that somebody will help me to decide
Thank´s in advance :good:
By the way,I´m from Serbia and I don´t know when the official JB will come here, maybe half of the year, maybe never
If u buy
Better stick with GB
Better battery, less lags

Gingerbread is horrible on Razr Maxx. So is ICS for that matter.
Just update it to ICS and await the European release of JB.
I get six days usage from my Maxx with ICS.

I have an Asian Razr XT910 GSM and currently running on 65.1.40.XT910.AsiaRetail.en.03 and I want to have the *real* ICS leak on my phone...which leak do I flash on my phone? and also will it be possible to revert back to stock ... can someone guide me pls
You should c the below link for the further update as one member of xda has taken the nandroid back of his official ICS razr 4.0.4. You should go through the thread to check if we (for asian razr) can do it or not. I didnt have much time to check that thread as little busy but when i get time i will let you know meanwhile check this thread.

I prefers to wait for the official ICS OTA ipddate. GB is still good and running fine except few bugs.

I have the same phone, same software. There's just too much flashing weirdness out there for me. I think the asia.retail gingerbread works very well and the only reason I care for ICS is I want a nicer webtop. I'm just going to wait for the real (OTA) thing.

I too am in the same boat as u guys...i plan to flash the leak only out of anger...no sign of "official" ICS yet
I am never happy. Once I get Ice Cream Sandwich I'll be demanding Jelly Bean. Once I have that, I'll be bawling until I get Key Lime Pie. I am the typical user, never satisfied.

You mean you're the typical XDA user.
I'd be willing to bet the majority of RAZR owners don't even know what ICS stands for.

I bet Motorola won't cook jelly bean for this model.
Nearly expired ice cream should be enough.
If someone ask, the will say jelly bean isn't suitable for old hardware.
In Amazon the Unlocked International Atrix 4g are cheap! and i am thinking buy one of those... but the international version can get the us rom? for a possible update of ics? and 220$ are my budget.... so i think is the best one at that range... if you want to Recommend another android phone in that range, i will highly appreciate it, Thanks, is my first Android Phone leaving Blackberry
Don't do that, its better to buy pantech burst its selling on ebay for around 100$ brand new and will have ics soon.
You should be able to get an Atrix for around 150$ US iirc. Excellent phone, but, there's no guarantee of a fully working ICS Rom.
BUT, you can get the lapdock for around 60$, and that makes the phone/dock combo awesome value.

If you want to get stuck to Gingerbread for eternity, buy it.
If you want newer version of Android, buy from another manufacturer. :good:

I have the xperia U which is 10x smoother than my atrix (which i sold for 333$ !!!!!) and ICS rollout started today for xpu !
I just bought it and love it. Would having ICS or Jelly Bean be desirable? Yes. But 98% of the apps I would want on my phone are available for gingerbread too. If you really want ICS or JB, you can always root it and flash a custom ROM. I tried to do that, it didn't work out well for me but seems to work well for plenty of others.
There are no fully functional ICS/JB ROMs.

No! NO NO NO NO NO!
I cannot stress enough: DO NOT BUY A MOTOROLA PHONE.
Samsungs have nice unlocked bootloaders, the GSII is quite nice...
The atrix has great hardware but unfortunately Motorola aren't great with software updates but we have great devs and a decent jelly bean ROM

I just flashed a Jelly Bean ROM and am pretty satisfied with it thus far.

Yup, got mine for 2 months and flashed a JB ROM. Satisfied so far.
no
that's my third motorola phone all has touch problems.
You should never buy any motorola product, they have the worst software team, the firmware lags a lot, and you will never get updates, they promisse but they do not deliver.
any news for razr root JB?
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
look at the development section, we have more than enough rooted jb ROMs.
But there's not yet for European jelly bean leak
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Best and easiest solution is not to update through recovery with update.zip package if you think it's hard to preserve root, but to install bmm when you are in 4.0.4 and then flash jb kernel and rom. There are a few stock rooted roms and also some modified ones.
When there will be a root solution for eu jb you will surely see it in xda. you guys keep making threads with root for jb...

Ya this has been bugging me since Voodo OTA Rootkeeper failed me. I am stuck on JB Unrooted, sucking battery because of the terrible built in apps Moto thought would be "neat" for 99% of people that will never use, or ever have a use for... Citrix Receiver for example. I was hoping someone here would not just post a stupid reply and for anyone who is a dev to at least update us as to if they are even working on it, or just waiting until the official fastboots come out (if they do) or waiting until Moto's rollout is done.

for the built in Moto's apps, dont you just have to disable it in app setting? I stuck with the unroot too, I swear if isn't for its good design, I would have sold it loooong ago.

Same here, and the sadest thing is that new razrs are not razrs at all... they are regular fat phones...

Yes, because You have a Maxx, whitch is fat. So comparing to Your phone, new "Razrs" are normal. But for us, the owners, of the REAL RAZRS, new gen is a real dissapointment. I mean... lets face it, Razrs (from the begginning - V3) were ALL about how thin they were, and the flawlees design. They were THE THINNEST phones in the world. Og Droid Razr even now, after almost 2 years is one of the thinnest phones arround. Meanwhine the new Razrs should not been marketed as RAZR in the first place, because they are the same thickness as all other phones. If Motorola wont release new gen razr, lets say somewhere about 6.1mm, they are screwed... because they cant offer anything else than a design. Software and screens goes to Samsung (impossible to beat), build quality ant materials goes to Sony and Htc, so what is left? I can tell You whats left (for a Razr line): FLAWLESS SUPER THIN DESIGN! AVERAGE SPEC (more to the better side), and REASONABLE PRICE. For example, in my country (in EUROPE), RAZR HD costs way more than S3. So new Razrs doesnt have the chance to stand out in any way (average spec, average design, average materials,HUGE price tag). Good luck, motorola...

Hello
I have been away from the Android Motorola Razr Sceene for 6 months. I sold my Razr and bought myself a Windows Phone. But now im back, end of story.
What is happening?
Im located in Norway and have the GSM version of the Razr, is Jelly Bean out for me yet? Is it worth the upgrade?
Before i left
I used the EPRJ_EasyRootICS_MultiOS_v1.5 to Root my ICS Razr.
I used Safestrap-ICS-3.05
And I switched between Simplex OS and Eclipse OS, super debloated with my own recipe
I used BW_CM9_GSM-PATCH-dtrail to use these CDMA roms.
And now im sitting here with a brand new Motorola Razr Maxx and do not know what to do?
Is it worth the upgrade if I where happy about these rom's and all the themes and customizing I could do?
Should I upgrade to Jelly Bean or stay with my old recipe?
I was very very happy about battery and quickness of these rom's I used, but I need some input if someone could be so helpfull
edit: also wondering if I can root my phone with the Jelly Bean rom installed.
Thank You
I've been using AOKP R7 with the updated kernel pack V1.2 and have found that kexeced rom to be extremely smooth. GPS, bluetooth, camera, camera flash, video and wifi work. Wifi tethering worked with R6 but for some reason doesn't work for me on R7. I'm trying to track the problem down.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
If i were you I'd stay on ics for now, the only reason being is a number if people who have upgraded to jb lost root. At this point in time there is NO root method for xt910 jb en.eu
Only a matter of time until a exploit is found but until then it may not be worth the risk?
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app
I'm using SS3.11 to run the AOKP rom. My stock rom is the official Optus Motorola ICS one. That has been rooted. The new AOKP 4.2.2 based rom is also rooted.

Thnx!
Thanks for fast answer guys, after Googleing and reading trough forums both here and others I have decided to stay with my old recipe. It was working flawless with not big bugs and fast as no other!
Im not into the whole experiment on everything again, so I will just wait for Jelly Bean to be more mature
Thank you again.
I just wanna know, is anybody working on a Swappa app? I just think that would be really helpful for the Android community..
