[Q] How to unroot and remove cwm? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I recently rooted and installed cwm on my Neo V, so I can install cyanogenmod. I was going to unlock the bootloader before installing cyanogenmod, but someone told me that the bootloader needs to be unlocked before rooting.
So my question is, do I need to unroot, as well as remove clockworkmod to unlock bootloader? Please help!

Custom kernel are found in Development section!
You may check my thread but for cyanogenmod Roms, you'll find kernels inside the zip you download!
Extract it and flash kernel, then the Rom

I've searched but can't seem to find an answer to my question, this thread seems to be closest. I have unlocked BL, rooted and flashed cm10 on my wife's Neo V, because on stock rom it was too slow. Runs great, really happy. Only problem, she uses a Barclays Bank app, but because it has detected that the phone is rooted, it won't let her use it. Can I unroot without losing the custom rom, or a way around making the app "beleive" that the phone isn't rooted?

Get another bank... Cant use cyanogenmod without root because root is part of cyanogenmod.. So next time yo need a phone with cyan you only need to fix bootloader and then flash you rom.. No root needed

How to root ST15i with ICS update

Hi,
I have unlocked bootloader with ICS update installed. I want root access. I have read about one way to root phone. It involves downgrading to GB ftf. I don't want to do it. Is there any other way I can root my phone?

Its easy bro you do not need to downgrade as your phones bootloader is unlocked
just flash the custom kernel with flashtool almost all custom kernel are per rooted:laugh:
Search for flashtool and custom kernel compatible with stock ICS
I suggest you Extended stock kernel it great.:good:
You can search in development section

OK. After I install a custom kernel what do I have to do? Install busy and superuser? How can I go back to stock kernel? IF I go back to stock kernel, will I lose my root?

Superuser is installed automatically, busybox not, you need to install it from Play Store by yourself.
You can install stock kernel with Flashtool, just pick regular .ftf file, but only choose kernel to be installed. You will keep root.

[Q] need firmware .587

Hi, I know the update 4.1.b.0.587 it's out, and I want to update my mini pro, but I'm stuck on .431 so anybody knows how can I update my SK17A because I tried with SEUS, and it says I already have the last update, PC companion say's the same thing, so if someone could help me that will be perfect..I have the mini pro SK17A not the SK17I
At the moment,4.1.b.0.587 is out only for Sk17i i guess.
Sk17a is till .431 as of now.
Have you seen someone using an sk17a with .587?

Thanks! But i was talking about having stock rom with custom kernel, or do i need both for make it work better?..besides, the reason i haven't rooted my phone and unlocked the bootloader is becauses is to hard! XD i remember when i used to have a motorola milestone, you just need to install the app universal androot, or use superone click, and that's it, you have your phone rooted, but know it's to difficult, i have a galaxy nexus too, i recently root that one, and it wasn't easy either but i did it, but with this one, the xperia mini, it looks like having root and unlock the bootloader it's no for everyone
After rooting, when I'm on cyanogenmod9 on ics,I can overclock to 1.6 ghz too while gaming.no lag in using phone too.though my bootloader is unlocked. I would suggest you to root for a better experience!
Cheers.

To flash custom kernel you need unlocked bootloader, but for flashing custom ROM you need root and/or unlocked bootloader. Mostly of the ROMs work on locked bootloader too but if you want to play games so much you should Install Pure AOSP/AOKP based ROM and if you want best experience with games you should also install custom kernel.

Thanks mate.. just a question .. should i upgrade to ICS using SEUS? i was initially under the impression that u cannot root your phone is it is in ICS, thats the reason why i chose to downgrade it to GB first.

hi all,
i tried the methods mentioned in the links pos9ted earlier to upgrade the phone to ICS first using SEUS and hen root it. unfortunately it did not work out. i can confirm that the steps mentioned were done correctly. what i have done is have downgraded to Gb and then rooted it. Post that i have installed a custom rom. is there any way i can install a custom rom for ICS now?
AW: How to install ICS based rom on a rooted Mini pro
for most custom roms you need to unlock your bootloader, or look if the rom you like to have is for locked bootloader too. for some roms you need to flash different kernel first. i would suggest you to flash a prerooted kernel with built in recovery. then you can install new rom via that recovery.
For installing custom roms like cm etc you need to unlock bootloader, if you don't want to do that go here and find a rom that does not need bootloader unlock. if you didn't unlock bl, download xparts and install cwm.
for unlocking, go here
then go here find a custom rom, copy zip to sd card, extract boot.img to pc, flash boot.img in fastboot mode of flashtool or fastboot, boot device, enter cwm and flash zip from sd.
thank mihann for the excellent guide.
hope it helped
THIS is a collection of roms + kernels + guides + scripts. You may need it

[Q] I hate ICS on the XU, I cant root and cant go back to GB :(

I was very happy with the performance of GB on my xperia U but there was no root for GB. I was told that in order to get root I have to update to ICS. So I did via update manager and am on the 6.1..54 firmware. Its horrible, slow and laggy.
I used both methods of rooting, flashtool and Bin4ry's both have failed and dont work. My phone cannot be rooted.
So can anyone tell me how I can root this firmware?
Also can I go back to stock GB? if yes please tell me how.
Thank you

Does this method require unlocked bootloader? I mean the one involving flashing .10 kernel and then back .54 one. Sorry for the "noobish" question, but I just began to explore the root/flashing aspects of my XGO and the proccess is completely different from my previous samsung phone, so it's like begining from zero point again at knowledge.

No. Flashing stock kernel does not require unlocked bootloader, u can keep it locked. there are plenty of guides available here so dont worry.

Thanks for the reply. Indeed I managed to root, install CWM recovery and flashed my first rom at my XGO.
Another "noobish" question if you can answer is that I backed up my rom before flashing the custom rom, yet in the clockwordmod folder in internal memory now there is nothing in it. Did the flashing erased my back up? So I cannot get my original FW, since I didn't back it up at my pc? I mean I had greek FW branded to a carrier, so if I need to send it to service, how am I supposed to get it back? To be honest I didn't see a such situation coming so I was unprepared. FYI I flashed [FXP210] XperiaPremiuMâ„¢ v4 from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155343. Thanks for your help again!

No i didn't. I still have locked bootloader. that's why i flashed v4 rom for locked bootloader. Yet I may try v5, since it's compatible with LB as well. just i'll have to flash the boot.img through flashtool if I remember correctly from what I read in that thread.

Yes you need an unlocked bootloader to flash a custom kernel. But you can flash a custom kernel using fastboot tools and a command prompt or a terminal (Linux) too. You don't need flashtool
If the link for flashtool is not working, check the stickies in Dev section, flashtool should be there. It should still be downloadable

yes you should be having a unlocked bootloader for flashing a custom kernel however if you want to go back to stock ICS someday you will have to re-lock your bootloader and simply click on "Repair Phone" in SEUS.......
