View attachment apns-conf.xml.txt
here is a basic file for you.
it may or may not work properly, but I figured you can try it.
you will need to change the name of the file to read only

not receiving text messages?

hopefully this is the right section....
Hey xda, ive been have trouble with my rooted froyo eris. im not receiving text messages at all from anyone, even when i know they just texted me. i know this problem isnt related to the rom or froyo itself, as ive tried both tazz's rom and kaos's. plus i havent had this problem on froyo before. any ideas?
You probably do not have the correct APN files anymore. These let your phone know which towers to connect to. You may have used a ROM that was based on a ROM from another carrier (like Sprint). Try this:
1. Boot into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
2. Download a ROM with the correct APN files, like Plain Jane (basically a stock ROM with root). One version of Plain Jane can be found here:
hxxp://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718092/ ( I don't think I can post links yet so change hxxp to http)
3. Do a full data wipe in recovery and then install the Plain Jane ROM.
4. Reboot into the new ROM.
5. Make sure 3G and Sync is on and you should get all your missed text messages, once everything is finished syncing.
6. On the market, grab the app "APN Backup & Restore".
7. Run APN Backup & Restore and bachup your APNs. The app will create a folder on you SD card with the APN files. Hold on to those files and if you wipe your SD, make sure you back them up somewhere.
8. Then you can restore to your nandroid backup or load any other ROM. The just run "APN Backup & Restore" and restore you APNs.
I hope this helps you.
Instead of going through the trouble of nand backup, flashing a generic ROM, etc., just stay with your current ROM, download APN Backup and Restore from the market and paste the following XML into a text editor like notepad, name the file original-apns.xml and put it in /sdcard/ApnBackupRestore/. Run APN Backup and Restore from the phone and restore the apn from there.
Below is the code for Verizon Droid Eris (won't work for Hero).
Code:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>
<apns count="3">
<apn name="CDMA" numeric="00000" mcc="000" mnc="00" apn="0" user="null" server="null" password="null" proxy="null" port="" mmsproxy="" mmsport="" mmsprotocol="" mmsc="" type="*" />

Electrify Eri/Roaming Fix for Stock, MIUI, CM7,9,10 and other ROMs 8/04/2012

This works for Stock, MIUI, CM7, CM9, CM10 and other ROMs!
I thought I would throw some CWM flashable zip files together for new Electrify users who don't know how to fix the roaming issue or change the Eri text banner from Sprint to U.S. Cellular.
The roaming fix zip replaces the libmoto_ril.so file that comes with photon roms that cause the Electrify to not roam properly.
It also adds an eri.xml file to the /data directory to change the Sprint banner (or whatever else it may say from the dev) to U.S. Cellular.
The USCC-Stock-Eri zip only adds the eri.xml file to the /data directory. Works on mostly ALL ROMs.
The USCC-Eri-Roaming-Fix is for GB and ICS ROMs.
The USCC-Eri-Roaming-Fix-JB is for JB (CM10). May work on other JB ROMs. Unknown at this time.
The Eri file can be edited to change the banner text using any root explorer or text editor. Just change the U.S. Cellular text to whatever you'd like it to say. You can also change the Digital Roaming text to your liking via the Eri.xml file. (Same can be done for Photon users)
This will need to be flashed every time you update your rom to fix the roaming. The Eri text will not change during updates as long as the eri.xml file is present in the /data directory.
Be sure to select automatic in the network settings if needed!
I thought the general forum would be best for this. Hope this helps some users out! Happy flashing!
Will use this of I manage to flash a rom!

This should work for stock. I have not tested it. Try flashing it or pulling the eri.xml out of the zip file and put it in the /data directory. Modify the text of the file with root explorer. Reboot and find out. If you need a better explanation or more help message me!

that's probably because the coding is wrong. which it is
so use the attached file and change it as you'd like. it's guaranteed to work. well on 2.3.4 that is. untested on 2.3.5 let me know!
you can either pull the eri.xml file from the zip or flash it. this is pulled from 2.3.4 so it should work to fix the roaming indicator problem you see with the other file.
Just downloaded, edited, after reboot ill tell ya
*Edit* so after reboot, same thing..... Roaming indicator on.... How do you change the line to make it whatever instead of roaming indicator on/off?

where ever the text says U.S. Cellular you'd replace it with whatever of your liking. be sure it's 16 characters or less. i think that's the case with gingerbread. could also be that moto/uscc stripped this function out of the OS. you can always go the complicated way and change the framework-res.apk eri file to say whatever you want. i know that works. but maybe i'll do some rom playing and test this eri file out on the stock tomorrow!
stock rom example: the first 3 lines of eriinfo where it says text here. change that and nothing else.

Interesting. Probably won't work. The framework files is in the system/framework folders. It is a critical part of the system. Mess it up and the phone won't boot. There's a tutorial around somewhere. It's pretty easy to do in the end.

not sure at this point. i'd have to go back to stock and see if i can see what's going wrong. i recommend editing the framework-res. there's two ways to edit the us cellular eri text. that framework file or the eri.xml which might just need tweaking.
Tried this on Cm7. Worked great. I can roam and I have Us Cellular everywhere it is suppose to be. Thank you so much.

add a file named apns-conf.xml in /system/etc and add data according to this file http://pastebin.com/cY5vE7ji.
apn will be automatically selected as per carrier's mcc and mnc code
I found the settings for the carriers in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar if anyone else needs them.
Code:
<apn carrier="Roshan" mcc="412" mnc="20" apn="internet" user="gprs" password="roshan" type="default" />
<apn carrier="Roshan MMS" mcc="412" mnc="20" apn="mms" mmsc="http://mms.roshan.af" mmsproxy="172.31.37.16" mmsport="8080" type="mms" />

HELP!!!
Hello, I am currently in Afghanistan trying to get Roshan Data working on my Unlocked, Rooted, T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4. I have been looking everywhere to find out how to do this. Some posts lead me to believe I have a hidden T-Mobile APNS in my phone that I can't delete which is affecting the ROSHAN APNS. It looks like that you figured it out to me. Please lead me in the right direction. Yes I am a noob to this stuff, but I would really appreciate any help.
Open /etc/apns-conf.xml (root required) and add the lines from my prior post. Or, attach your current one, and I can make you a flashable zip

XML editor that will work?
Hello again and thank you for your quick response. So I downloaded a root browser and found the apns-conf.xml file. I used the Axel App to open it up and tried several times to add the new lines. After saving with Axel the file has issues opening up again. The current apns-conf.xml file is a read only, so I am having to open and save as then add lines, but again, I am trying to find an app that will do this successfully. Thank you again for bringing me closer to my goal.
I managed to add the APNS for Roshan using 920 Text Editor to the apns-conf.xml file. But still no data.
APN flashable zip
Please
I have attached required APN config file Kindly provide flashable Zip.
I tried to copy via OI file manager but I cannot as it does not shows respective folder after selecting copy function.

Sagar

Hello Again, so this flashable zip that you can provide with have the correct settings? I may have to ask you how to correctly use it on my phone. I have a buddy that says he could flash my phone if need be, but I am trying to avoid that if I can.
